Melissa Ann Fenwick
1979-2001
Melissa Ann Fenwick, 21, of Ludington, died unexpectedly Feb. 8, in
Ludington following injuries from an automobile accident, which also took
the life of her daughter Lissa Jo Whitney. She was born March 30, 1979,
in Kalamazoo, to Dale Eugene Fenwick and Mary Lee (Stull) Bilkey, and attended
Baldwin Community Schools, and was a certified nurses assistant, most recently
working at Baywood Nursing Home in Ludington.
Melissa leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Dale Eugene (Linda)
Fenwick, of Kalamazoo, and Mary Lee (Kenneth) Bilkey, of Baldwin; sisters
and brothers, Paula (Roger) Hicks, of Canyon City, Colo., Lee Maile, Jr.,
of Columbus, Ohio, Randy (Lisa) Dailey, of Vicksburg, Allan (Dale) Dailey,
of Baldwin, Maryann (Wayne Miller) Dailey, of Big Rapids, and Leslie (Jim
Teadt) Fenwick, of Mishawaka, Ind.; step-brothers and sisters, Phyllis
Musser, of Idlewild, Dwayne (Barb) Bilkey, of Kalkaska, John (Eileen) Bilkey,
of South Boardman, Cathy (Randy) Whitehouse, of Monroe, and Diana Miles,
also of Kalkaska; nieces and nephews, Ashley and Heather Dailey, Marissa
Maile, Felicia Clark, and Dakota Hicks; paternal grandparents, Dale L.
and Wilma Fenwick, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and brother,
Danny Rae Daily.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 12, at the Vida Funeral Home in Baldwin,
with Pastor Nelson Hall officiating. Interment will be in Lilley Township
Cemetery in Bitely.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Vida Funeral Home in Baldwin.

Lissa Jo Whitney, 20 months, of Ludington, died unexpectedly Feb. 8,

the life of her mother, Melissa Ann Fenwick. Lissa was born May 20, 1999,
in Big Rapids, to Russell Whitney and Melissa Ann Fenwick.
She leaves to cherish her memory in addition to her father, Russell
Whitney, by maternal grandparents, Dale Eugene (Linda) Fenwick, of Kalamazoo,
and Mary Lee (Kenneth) Bilkey, of Baldwin; aunts and uncles, Paula (Roger)
Hicks, of Canyon City, Colo., Lee Maile, Jr., of Columbus, Ohio, Randy
(Lisa) Dailey, of Vicksburg, Allan (Dale) Dailey, of Baldwin, Maryann (Wayne
Miller) Dailey, of Big Rapids, and Leslie (Jim Teadt) Fenwick, of Mishawaka,

She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, and uncle,
Danny Rae Dailey.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 12, at Vida Funeral Home in Baldwin,
with Pastor Nelson Hall officiating. Interment will be in Lilley Township
Cemetery.

Ora Davis
1898-2001
Ora Daniels was born Oct. 31, 1898, in Arkansas to Pete and Octavia
Daniels. She accepted Christ at an early age as her personal Savior. She
met and married Frank Davis; they had no children, but they had many happy
years together before his death in 1972.
Surviving are one niece, Ora Carpenter, of Woodland Park; one nephew,
Mack Daniels, of Detroit; grand-nephew, Charles (Mabel) Daniels, of Little
Rock, Ark.; grand-niece, Aurelia Gleese; grand-nephew, David A. Findley;
great-niece, Phylice Wade and children; great-niece, Syretta Rightout and
son; great-nephew, David Gleese, all of Woodland Park; and a host of other
nieces and nephews of Detroit, and church members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, by her parents, one
sister, and four brothers.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 10, at First Baptist Church of Woodland
Park, with Rev. Isaac J. Bass officiating. Interment will be in Burr Oak
Cemetery in Chicago, Ill.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Vida Funeral Home in Baldwin.
James Edward Fasnaugh Sr.
1933-2001
James Edward Fasnaugh Sr., 67, of Baldwin, died Sunday, Feb. 11. Fasnaugh
was born May 8, 1933, in Charlotte, the son of Barney and Eva (Draper)
Fasnaugh. He retired as an inspector for Oldsmobile and served on the Potterville-Benton
Township Fire Department and the Potterville Police Department for many
years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Hite); sons, Thomas (Shelly) Fasnaugh,
of Charlotte, James Fasnaugh Jr., of Potterville; grandson, Tyler, and
granddaughter, Teddy Jo.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Pray Funeral Home, in Charlotte,
with Rev. Paul Bailey officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery
in Charlotte.
Dorothy Jean "Dottie" Smith
1922-2001
Dorothy (Cramer) Smith, 78, of Grand Oaks Nursing Center in Baldwin,
formerly of Bitely, passed away Feb. 9, at Spectrum Health in Reed City
after a long battle with pneumonia. She was born April 17, 1922, in Wabash,
Ind., to Bert and Gladys (Harris) Cramer. She married Harry O'Neil Smith
June 1, 1946, and he preceded her in death in 1997.
Surviving are her two very dear friends, Jack and Karen Koch, of Bitely,
along with brothers, Charles (Shirley) Horner, of Palatka, Fla., and James
Horner, of Henderson, Nev.
Interment of cremains will be held at the Lilley Township Cemetery
in Bitely. Arrangements were entrusted to Vida Funeral Home in Baldwin.
Seldon W. "Woody" Vess
1917-2001
Seldon W. "Woody" Vess, 84, of Baldwin, passed away at Spectrum Health-East
Campus, Friday, Feb. 9. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the
Teamsters Union Local No 406, and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting
and fishing.
He is survived by his sister, Mildred Richie; his sisters-in-law, Marie
Miller, Ruth Osborn and Sophie Beurkens; his special friends, Margarete
Leith and Al Perez; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Services were held at the Van't Hof Chapel in Grand Rapids Feb. 13,
with burial in Washington Park Cemetery. |
