Medical Cntr. Funeral services will be 10am Saturday from Mt. Morris St.
Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in New
Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Stringer will remain at the Miles martin Funeral
Home where friends may call after 6pm Thursday. Family will be present
to receive friends Thursday 6-9pm and Friday 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Friday evening
family friends and parish will assemble for a Catholic Scripture service
at the funeral home 7pm. Saturday morning Mr. Stringer will be taken to
church to lie in state from 9am until time of funeral Mass at 10am. Born
February 2, 1916 in Rexton the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burton V. And Rose Alma
(Corrier) Stringer. He and Mary Bobalik were united in marriage Sept. 2,
1939 at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church. He was veteran of WWII serving
with the Army in the Pacific. Mr. Stringer was a member of St. Mary Catholic
Church and formerly of Sacred Heart and St. Agnes parishes when living
in Flint. He retired March 1974 from Buick Motor Division as materials
scheduling clerk with 38.6 years service. Surviving are his wife: Mary;
2 sons: Paul and wife Shelly Stringer of Flushing; Donald and wife Jennifer
of Flint; 6 grandchildren: Ryan; Daniel; Joseph; Kathryn; Andrea; Emily;
3 sisters: Vina and husband Dwight Dehner of Mt. Morris; Mary Jane and
husband Harry Fulton of Mt. Morris; Marjorie and husband James Roesner
of Clio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents, and 4 brothers: Phillip, Donald, Merlin, and Burton.
Age 66, of Mt. Morris, Died Sunday December 27,and was welcomed into

E. Bowman officiating. Donald was born in Detroit, MI November 30 1932
to John A. And Margaret (Engwall) Reid. He worked as a claims adjuster
for AAA for twenty years. Then in apartment managment until he retired
on disability in 1988. He loved to hunt, golf, and woodworking. He loved
his children so very much. He was active playing blooper ball and slow
ball when he was younger. Surviving are: Loving Care Giver Shirley A. Reid;
Daughters:Darcy Leigh of Ionia; Dawn and Husband Glen Miller of Flint;
Step children: Tonya L. Irwin; Charles J. Kelley; Gregory and wife Annette
Kelley all of Mt. Morris; John D. Jr. and wife Frances Kelley of Barryton;
Mother: Mrs. Margaret Rickenbacher of St. Clair Shores; Brother: Douglas
and wife Caroline Reid of Warren; half sister : Carol of Iowa; half brother:
Rodney of Indiana; Eleven grandchildren; Six great grandchildren. Donations

Lillian Mae Lee
Age 71 of Mt. Morris died Thursday December 24, 1998 at Home. Cremation
has taken place. A memorial service will take place 11:00 am Wednesday
, December 30, 1998 at Miles Martin funeral Home. Lillian Lee was born
January 1,1927 to Archie Hurley and Florence Grunjes in Burlington Iowa.
She graduated from High School in Davenport Iowa. She met Theodore W. Lee
in Bettendorf Iowa and Married in 1945 in Souix Falls South Dakota they
were married 54 years. She went to college for two years for contomotry.
She worked for Oldsmobile in Lancing and then transferred to Ternstedt
in Flint. She retired from there and opened the "Tip-O-Le Doggie Motel"
in 1957. Survivors are husband: Theodore W. Lee of Mt. Morris; Son: Mark
E. And wife Laura K. Lee of Flint; Daughter: Lorni K. Lee of Mt. Morris;
and 4 grandchildren.
John E. Morse
Flushing, age 78 died, Thursday December 24, 1998 at McLaren Regional
Medical Center. Family will be present at Trinity United Methodist Church
2200 Forest Hill Ave., Flint to receive friends from 10:00 am Wednesday
December 30, 1998 until time of services at 11am. His dear friends: Rev.
Mr. John K. Benissan his pastor and Rev. Fr. Thomas W. Butler will co-officiate.
Cremation has taken place and burial of his cremated remains will be in
Sunset Hills. Memorials may be considered for his church Trinity United
Methodist. Mr. Morse was born on August 6, 1920 in Flint, the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Royal Seal and Caroline ( Osmer) Morse. He and Elizabeth DeHaan
were united in marriage February 8, 1943. John was a Veteran of WWII as
a Lab Technician and a medic with the 57th Field Hospital which served
throughout the European Theater of Operations. He was a member and head
usher of Trinity United Methodist having served on numerous commissions
and he held many offices and positions since 1952. He was fondly called
"Mr. Trinity". He retired in 1978 from the Buick Motor Division as a wood
pattern maker, with 33 years service to GM. He also served as president
of the pattern makers union. After retirement he worked for Knoblock Hardware
for 5 years, and also a driver for Limousine Service which furnished hearses
and limousines for area funeral homes. John will also be remember for his
love of animals, family and people, whom in turn loved him. Many will fondly
remember him as an "Ambassador of Peace." Surviving are : Wife: Lee; daughter:
Nancy and husband Kim Schoeppach of Metamora; son: Richard Morse of Flushing;
2 grandchildren : Michael Jones of Boca Raton, FL.; Jennifer and husband

Carl H. Smith
Of Mt. Morris, age 78, died Wednesday, December 23, 1998 at McLaren
Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2PM Saturday, December

Carl was born June 1, 1920 in Coldwater, MI, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
and Leota (DeForest) Smith. He married Shirley J. Ruppert November 28,
1941 and she preceded him in death August 14, 1996. Mr. Smith was a veteran
of World War II serving with the Army Air Corps in England. He retired
in 1975 from Chevrolet Metal Fabricating where he was a checker and served
as committeeman, with 30 years service. Surviving are: 3 children, Sharon
and husband Merv McCarroll of Columbiaville; Clark and wife Karen Smith
of Gladwin; Delores and husband Mike Skinner of Caseville; 6 grandchildren,
Keith and wife Cindy McCarroll; Lisa and husband Cory Hendrickson; Chad
Smith; Tina Smith; Erica and husband Jeff Miller; 4 great-grandsons, Caleb
McCarroll; Joshua McCarroll; Austin Hendrickson; Logan Hendrickson; brother,
Lester Loyer of Montrose; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by his parents; wife; 4 brothers, John Smith, Glenn Smith, George
Loyer, Junior Loyer; 2 sisters, Mabel Keeler and Marion Fitch.
Wilfred J. LaVoie
Age 91 of Mt. Morris died Saturday December 19, 1998 at McLaren Regional
Medical Cntr. Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday from Mt. Morris St.
Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in New
Calvary Cemetery. Mr. LaVoie will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home
where friends may call after 2pm Monday. Family will be present 2-4 and
6-9pm. Parish and family will assemble for a Catholic Scripture service
at the funeral home at 8:15pm Monday. Tuesday morning Mr. LaVoie will be
taken to church to lie in state from 9am until time of funeral Mass at
10am. Born June 3, 1907 in Valcota, Ontario, Canada the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver and Mary (Boudreau) LaVoie. He became a US citizen November
15, 1933. February 1937 he married the girl he met on the train to the
USA, Amelia Psutka. She preceded him in death October 13, 1988. He was
a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and when he first moved to the Flint
area he owned and operated the Underpass Tavern on Saginaw Street in Flint.
He retired from Fisher Body #1. Surviving are: daughter: Germaine A. Stimac
of Flint; 8 grandchildren: Joseph and wife Vickie Stimac of Flint; Deborah
and husband Fred Krause of Davison; Lori and husband Daryl Saultman of
Flint; David and wife DeeLinda Stimac of Flint; Michael and wife Kimberly
Stimac of Flint; Germaine and husband Dennis Avery of Flint; Matthew Stimac
of Flint; Sarah Stimac of Flint; 11 great grandchildren: Christopher; Tara;
Joey; Michelle; Danny; Grant; David; Sophia; Stephanie; Jill; and Jonathon.
Many other relatives from Ontario Canada. Preceded in death by his parents
and his daughter, Carolyn Layne May 23, 1979.
Ora B. Stoker
Age 79 of Mt. Morris died Thursday December 17, 1998 at Genesys Health

6pm Saturday and all day Sunday. Mrs. Stoker was born on July 29, 1919
in Fairview WV., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evard and Lelia (Swiger)
Davis. She and James Stoker were united in marriage, over 51 years ago,
February 1947. She retired 1978 from Ternstedt Div. Assembly. Surviving
are her husband: James Stoker; son: Donald A. and wife Sharon Haught of
Florida; daughter: Janice E. and husband Robert Gibson of Kentucky; 6 grandchildren:
John and wife Susan, Elizabeth and husband Tommy Daniels; Brien and wife
Peggy Hollis; James and wife Jennifer Hollis, Lorena and husband William
Barnes; great grandchildren: Halley Haught, Anthony, Jason, Michael, and
Maryann Hollis, Jimmy, David, Lauren, and Tyler Hollis, sister: Ruby Hunter;

James E. Walker
Of Vassar, age 75, died Wednesday, December 16, 1998 at his daughter's
home in Cass City. James was born March 3, 1923 in Caro the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. James Ernest and Dora (Nokes) Walker. He and Genevieve M.
Vincent were united in marriage on April 1, 1946 in Vassar. He retired
from Spence Brothers of Saginaw and was a member of Laborer's Local 1098
Union. He was a member of Vassar Eagles #2380. James enjoyed woodworking,
fishing, traveling, and shuffle board at the Eagle's Club. Left to cherish
his memory are children; Tonya and husband Lloyd Newsome of Cass City,
Donald and wife Linda walker of Harrison, Jeanette and husband Michael
Geno of Port Huron, Michael Walker of Kingston; 8 grandchildren Lloyd Jr.,
Bunny, James, Toni, Penny, Jeremy, April and Kimberly; several great grandchildren;
3 brothers, Dale and wife Beverly Walker of Six Lakes, Gerald and wife
Judy Walker of Clio, Larry Walker of Clio; 2 sisters, Beverly and husband
Clare Milliken of Vassar and Lillian Liebler of Clio. He was preceded in
death by grandson, William Joseph Newsome, parents, six brothers, Clarence,
Ernest, Lawrence, Francis, Carl and Bernard, sister, Doris Butterfield.

Funeral Home in Vassar with Rev. George W. Harmon officiating. Burial in

Lillian May Plowman-Licquia
age 82 of Clio Convalescent Cntr. Died Wed. December 16, 1998 at Hurley

14, 1916 in Thetford Twp. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Polly
(Pomeroy) Rogers. She has been a resident of convalescent centers since
her crippling stroke at the age of 39. Surviving are her 4 children: Shirley
and husband Fred Roth of Clio; William Plowman of Lapeer; Janet Leach of
Millersburg; Gerald Licquia of Flint; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews; close friends: Pearl and Jack Murphy of Flint.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son George L. Plowman Jr.
Age 56 Went home to be with the Lord Tuesday December 15, 1998 while

Morris was born in Birch Run April 5, 1942 the son of Mr. and Mrs. William
and Helen (Sproul) Morris. He and Diane Leona Marcou were united in marriage
January 16, 1965. Norm was employed by A.C. Spark Plug division for 30
years, he was then employed by Automotive Component Carriers, driving semi,
for the past 5 years. Norman had a love for the outdoors and deer hunting
especially in the U.P. He was a very thoughtful and caring person, putting
the welfare and happiness of others before his own. Whenever anyone needed
help he was the first one there. He was especially devoted to his son,
daughter, and his 3 grand-daughters, Heather, Ashlee, and Alaina. Norman
was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam era. He leaves to cherish
his memory, his wife Diane; daughter: Laura and husband Tim Williams of
Clio. son: Bradley and wife Diane (Dee) Morris of Mt. Morris. 3 grand-daughters:
Heather Henderson, Ashlee Henderson, and Alaina Wallace. 3 sisters: Jean
and husband Lynn Lutton of Flushing; Marlene and husband Bob Hind of Fenton;
Connie and husband Ron Wezell of Clio. 2 brothers: Ron and wife Ruth Morris
of Saginaw; Don and wife Joanne Morris of Clio; 3 brothers-in-law and 3
sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and father and
mother-in-law, Leo and Leona Marcou.
Helen M. (Buchanan) Algoe
Of Flint, Age 90 Died Monday December 14, 1998 at Heritage Manor in
Flint. Cremation has taken place. Helen was born January 26, 1908 in Illinois
to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jackson and Azennia (Meneese) Littlepage. Helen
worked at A.C. Spark Plug as an Assembly Line Worker with 26 years of service.
She was a devoted Wife and Mother. Survivors are: Daughter: Doris Radtke
of Mt. Morris; Son: Arthur Buchanan of Menomonie, WI. 8 grandchildren;
10 great grandchildren.
Peter A. Jarema
Of Flint age 73 died Sunday December 13,1998 at McLaren Regional Medical

MI. the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Paraska (Jarema) Jarema. He was member
of Carpenters Union 1373 for 46 years as a Master Carpenter. Peter worked
as a carpenter supervisor for Erickson and Linstrom for 26 years. He was
a WW II veteran in the U.S. Navy serving on the destroyer USS Woolsey.
Peter married his wife Carla (Nowland) November 22, 1947. He was a member
of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Mary's, and was a good husband and father.
Survivors are: Wife Carla of Flint; Sons: Michael & wife Pamela of
Charlevoix; Thomas & wife Sue of Goodrich; Edward Jarema of Flint;
Mark & wife Cheryl of Lapeer; Daughter: Kay & husband Karl Roeske
of Clio; 8 grandchildren: Kim & Bryan, Krista & Todd, Adrienne,
Tony, Karl & Erik; 1great grand child: Tyler; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.

united in marriage 55 years ago on September 11,1943. Goldie retired from
Genesee Memorial Hospital in 1979 with 20 years of service. She was a member

Of Richville, age 35 died Wednesday December 9, 1998 at Henry Ford
Hospital in Detroit. She was born in Saginaw August 18, 1963 and lived
in Richville her entire life. She was a member of St. Michaels Lutheran
Church in Richville. She is survived by her parents Arnold and Sally Allen
of Richville. Brother: Arnold and wife Cindy Allen Jr. of Richville; Sister:
Laurie Revesz of Vassar; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services

Virgina Collette (Rogers) Truesdail
Of Vassar, age 71 died Sunday, December 6, 1998 at St. Marys Hospital
in Saginaw. Born December 31, 1926 in Downer's Grove, Illinois, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Cecilia (Arthur) Horne. She and Arch Rogers were
united in marriage on April 14, 1962 in Eaton Rapids. He preceded her in
death July 23, 1972. She then married Richard Truesdail May 1981 in Tuscola.
He preceded her in death September 1, 1994. Those left to cherish her memory
are, daughter, Judy Lynn and husband Wayne Schwarz of Port Huron; son,
Raymond "Chip" and wife Carol Rogers of Vassar; stepson, Richard II and
wife Cindy Truesdail of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Matthew Rogers, Chrissy
Truesdail, Richard Truesdail III and several other grandchildren; sisters-in-law,
Lou Horne and Betty Horne; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded
in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Arthur Horne and Jack Horne. Funeral
services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar.

TN; Roxanne and husband Randy Ohman of Millington; Machelle and husband
Steven Manwell of Merrillville, IN; Dennis Rose of Merrillville, IN; Jeff

Jody and husband Ed Hunt of Millington; 16 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Robert Rose Nov.11,
1976, her second husband James Custer Sept. 5, 1995, and her daughter-in-law

Monday. He was born April 7, 1919 in Wilkesboro, N.C. the son of C.B. Austin
and Minnie Higgins. He married Kathryn V. Graves May 27, 1958. Earl was
a member of the New Apostolic Church, a Veteran of WWII, and member of
Fisher Body American Legion Post 342, and the D.A.V. Chapter#122. Prior
to his retirement he had been employed at Fisher Body for 17 years. He
is survived by his wife Kathryn, 3 Sisters, Mary E. Barker, Louise Wagner,
Grace Hendricks and Brother Joseph Sammons, All of North Carolina. He was
preceded in death by a Brother Cecil Austin, and a Sister Eva May Anderson.
Bernard Albert Cayer
Age 58 of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday December 1, 1998 at Hurley Medical
Center. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Friday at the Miles Martin Funeral
Home. Family will receive friends from 5 until time of services at 7pm
Friday. Bernard was born May 2, 1940 in Marquette the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Albert and Florence (Pleaugh) Cayer. He is survived by 2 sons Robbie Cayer,
and Barry Cayer; 3 brothers Raymond and Wife Beth Ann Cayer, Clifford and
Wife Barb Cayer, and Marvin Cayer; Sister Darlene and Husband Albert White.
He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Cayer.
