Of Ruskin, FL. and formerly of Mt. Morris, Age 82 died September 15, 1998 at SunCity Center in Flordia. Cremation has taken place. Family will hold a Memorial Service on Monday September 28, 1998 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. She was born on September 11, 1916 in Flint. She and Lawrance T. Funsch were united in marriage on January 16, 1938. He preceded her in death April 5, 1972. She leaves to cherish her memory 3 children, Robert and wife Bette Funsch of Ruskin, FL.; Janet and husband Donald Mince of Ruskin, FL. and Bethany and husband Roger Morse of Ruskin, FL. All formerly of the Flint Area; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchildren; brother, Gay and wife Betty Townsend of Pensacola, FL.; many nieces and nephews; a host of many special friends. She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers and 1 sister. 

Damon Nelson Brink
Age 67, formerly of Akron, died Wednesday September 23, 1998 at his home in Cape Coral, Florida. A native of Akron, Michigan, Mr. Brink had been a resident of Cape Coral since 1986. He was the former owner of The Black Dahlia in Akron and he owned and operated his own Farm for over 30 years. Survivors include his four sons: Drew (Jennifer) Brink, Cape Coral, FL, Scott (Marilyn) Brink, Beaverton, Michigan, Chris (Lori) Brink, Springhill, Tennessee, and John Brink Charlotte, Michigan. Two daughters: Diane (Sidney) Long, Charlotte, Michigan, and Melissa (Dean) Bevacqua, St. Clair Shores, Michigan, One brother Duane Brink, Punta Gorda, FL, Two sisters: Sharon Williams, Wilmington, Ohio and Lois (Felix) Finian, Saginaw, Michigan. Also surviving are nine grand children and one great grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove on Saturday September 27, 1998 burial services will be held at Brookside Cemetery. 

Robert C. VanFleet Sr. 
Of Mt. Morris and formerly of Cheboygan, age 77, died Wednesday, September 23, 1998 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 9:00 AM Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial at Mt. Morris Cemetery. Family and friends will gather to pray the Rosary 7pm Friday. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions for American Heart Assoc. or American Cancer Society . Family will receive friends at Miles Martin Funeral Home on Friday 10am -1pm and 4-9pm. On Saturday morning family and friends will gather at church for services at 9am. Mr. Van Fleet was born July 6, 1921 in AuSable, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Margaret (Loeffler) Van Fleet. He and Grace Chizick were united in marriage February 15, 1947. A veteran of the US Army air Corps serving in WWII and the Korean War. Mr. VanFleet was a police officer for the City of Cheboygan for a number of years. He retired in 1975 from A. C. Spark Plug in security. He had been a member of the Cheboygan Eagles and a 30 year member of Good Sam. Mr. VanFleet liked to help people. He was past president of the Senior Citizens at St. Mary. Left to cherish his memory are; wife Grace; children, Robert and wife Dale-Lee VanFleet of Waterford, Charlotte and husband Paul T. Jackson of Millington, Dick and wife Lynn VanFleet of South Haven, Larry and wife Rita VanFleet of Clio; grandchildren. AndyVanFleet, Heather VanFleet, Charlotte and husband Jeff Gilmore, Jennifer Jackson, Suzanne and husband Vincent Bauer, April Jackson, Toni Jackson, Danielle VanFleet, K.C. VanFleet, Cameron VanFleet, Christina VanFleet and StaceyVanFleet; brother, Carl VanFleet of Cheboygan; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Jerry Joe. 

Gaitha Viola Feeney
Of Franklin, NC. Age 65, died Monday September 21, 1998 at Angel Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with Rev. Richard Sheppard officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday September 25, 1998 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. and from 9:00 AM up to the time of service at 1:00 PM. She was born in Fremont Co. Ohio, on May 15, 1933 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Dorthea (Hudson) Miles. She was married for 35 years to Vern Feeney. Surviving are: Husband Vern; Sons; Gregory Allen Feeney of Cahokia, IL.; Keith Eugene Feeney of Vassar ; Brother Duane Miles of Reed City. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Norman Lickfelt 
Of Mt. Morris, Age 88, died Friday September 18, 1998 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 6 PM Monday September 21, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Raymond Cocke officiating, followed by a Masonic Services at 7:00 PM. Family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Sunday, 9-9 pm Monday. Services conclude with a graveside service at Cedar Valley Cemetery in Twining, Mi. at 12 noon. Norman was born in Prescott, Michigan October 22, 1909 the son of George and Mabel (Thornton) Lickfelt. Norman was united with Hazel for 63 years of marriage. Norman was a member of Whittmore F&AM Lodge No.471 and G.M. Local 326. Norman was a supervisor at Ternstedt (Coldwater Road) in Flint for 22 Years, before he retired. Surviving are his wife Hazel . To this union he leaves 3 sons Ronald and wife Hilga, Boyd and wife Shirley, Garry and wife Peggy. 13 grandchildren, 24, great grand children, 1 great great grand child. He leaves many friends as he was always ready to help someone. 

Patricia A. Rose
Of Flint, Age 69, died Friday September 18, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be held on 11:00 AM Monday September 21, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Hardy officiating. Family will receive friends from 5-9 pm Saturday, 9-9 on Sunday and 9:00 AM to the time of service. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. She was born in Mt. Pleasant on March 31, 1929 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Raymond And Buella (Coughlin) Thrope. She married Douglas Frank M. Rose Sr. on December 3, 1949. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother. Surviving are : Sharon M. And husband Lawrence Roth of Mt. Morris; Douglas Jr. and wife Zanita Rose of Flint; Sue Ann (Rose) Myers of Flint; David W. Rose of Flint; Daniel R. Rose of Flint; Laura Grace Rose of Flint; 10 grandchildren and many relatives and good friends. She will be sadly missed by "ALL". 

Lloyd Stewart
Of Mt. Morris, Age 68, died Friday September 18, 1998 at his residence. There will be a Memorial Service held 2:00 PM Sunday September 20, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Walter David officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to the time of service. He was born on June 30, 1930 in Holly, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford W. And Eva (Miner) Stewart. He served was a veteran of the Army in the Korean War as a Seargent. He worked for General Motors. He was a life time member of the V.F.W Swartz, Surviving are his wife; 5 children; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. 

Ray C. Morris
Of Mt. Morris, Age 70, died Friday, September 18, 1998 at McLaren Hospital. Cremation has taken place and there will be no Funeral Services. 

Alexander (Iskandar) Mubadda Saed
Of Flint, Age 60, Loving Husband and Father died Thursday September 17, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. There will be no visitation or funeral service as cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place 1:00 P.M. Tuesday Sept 22, 1998 at the Genesee United Methodist with Pastor Mac Greene officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Alex was born February 16, 1938 in Lod, Israel the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mubadda and Duyia (Joubran) Saed, coming to the United States in 1978. He also served in the Merchant Marine for 15 years before coming to the United States. Since 1992 he had been the owner of A-1 Food Store. He is survived by wife Lisa; 2 sons: Adam and Nathan Mother: Duyia Saed; 2 Sisters: Matilda and Antoinette all of Israel; Brother: David of Australia; Many Nieces, Nephews and friends He was preceded in death by his father Mubudda and Brother George. 

Caroline W. Hinze 
Of Davison age 82 died Wednesday September 16, 1998 at Briarwood Manor. Funeral services will be 11am Friday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Hensler of the St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Otisville will officiate. Burial in Mt. Morris Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2pm Thursday. Born Sept. 16, 1916 in South Haven the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Carl and Harriett S. (Brobst) Gerlach. She and Paul W. Hinze were united in marriage May 24, 1936 in Davison. He preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1991. Surviving are: 2 daughters: Sandra and husband Richard Kaiser of Davison; Iva Jean Hinze of Burton. Son: Fredrick and wife Karmolee Hinze of Otisville. 6 grandchildren: Joe Kaiser of Burton; Paul Kaiser of Davison; Luke Kaiser of Davison; Julie and husband Tom DeMaria of Arizona; Kendra and husband Kevin Bailey of Otisville; Karrine and husband Todd O'Neill of Crestview FL. 2 great grandchildren: Alex Kaiser and Todd O'Neill Jr.. brother: Herman and wife Margaret Gerlach of East Tawas. sister: Evelyn Lewis of Flint. several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Briarwood Manor for their caring and kindness. 

Cletus "Curly" Wayne Donahue
Of Flint, Age 63, died Tuesday September 15, 1998 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will take place at Miles Martin Funeral Home on Friday September 18, 1998 at 2:00 PM, Pastor Joseph Showalter officiating. Burial will take place at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will start at 12 Noon to 9:00 PM on Thursday and 9:00 AM to time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gift of Life Society. Mr. Donahue was born on December 17, 1934 in Rector, AR. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Houston And Geneva (Cole) Donahue. He was united with his wife Yvonee (Saylor) in 1954. He retired from General Motors Truck and Bus Assembly in 1983 with 30 years of service. He was a avid hunter and fisherman and an excellent mechanic. Surviving are: wife, Yvonne Donahue of Flint; sons Richard and wife Kimberly Donahue of Davison; Michael and wife Jackie Donahue of Dryden; daughter: Sheila and husband Rovert Myron of Mt. Morris; brother: James and wife Peggy Lindsey of Texas; sister: Carolyn and husband Terry O'Connell of CA; 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and stepfather Charles Lindsey. 

Lawrence W. Cranston
Of Flint age 80 died Monday September 14, 1998 at Michigan Masonic Home. Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Rev. Mr. Anthony J. Tomasino and Rev. Mr. Paul Amstutz will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Tuesday evening at 7pm Mt. Morris Lodge and Mt. Morris Chapter will asemble for Eastern Star and Masonic Memorial services at the funeral home. Born in Flint April 7, 1918 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie I. and Anna (Peterson) Cranston. He and Dorothy Jean Richards were united in marriage September 9, 1944 in Mt. Morris. She preceded him in death January 20, 1988. Retired Chevrolet Metal Fab 1974 as Foreman in Production. Member of Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, member and past master of Mt. Morris Lodge #535 F&AM, Mt. Morris Chapter #474 OES, Bay City Consitory, Elf Khurafeh Shrine, Knights Templar. Larry directed his own orchestra playing throughout the area during the 1940's and 50's and more recently the Shrine band. He served in U.S. Army during WWII and the Naval Reserve during the Korean conflict. Surviving are his sister-in-law: Joyce and husband Robert Shelley of Flushing; godchild: Debby and husband Bill Allen of Flint; dear friends: Ken and wife Mildred Johnson of Mt. Morris; close friend: Mary Gilliland of Burton. 

Omar I. Daraiseh 
Of Mt. Morris, Age 17, died Monday August 3, 1998. Burial and Funeral Services has taken place in Jordan. The family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home Sunday September 13, 1998 from 1-5 PM. Omar was born February 23, 1981, and would have been a senior at Mt. Morris High School. He is survived by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. 

Roy Walter McKerchie 
Of Mt. Morris, Age 85, died at Heritage Manor on Saturday September 12, 1998. Roy will remain at Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call after 6pm Sunday September 13, 1998 and all day Monday. At 8:00 pm Monday evening Family & Parish will assemble for Rosary followed by 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus memorial by Holy Family Council #4285 and Leon Satkowiak Council. Family will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 12:30 and proceed to the Church for Service at 1:30. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Military committal will be conducted by V.F.W. Gordon Bennett Post #1452. Mr. McKerchie was born on November 27, 1912 in Sugar Island, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burton and Charlotte Lillian (Lacoy) McKerchie. He was married 60 years to Angeline "Jean"Talentino, they were married on June 13, 1938 on Sugar Island. He served in the US Army during World War II, European 91st infantry-Division and won a good conduct medal and sharp shooters medal for heroism. He worked as a Carpenter. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past Grand Knight, president of Building Corporation, Rental Agent, Council Trustee, St. Mary's Usher Club, Carpenters Local #706, V.F.W. Gordon Bennett Post , American Legion Fisher Post #342 and a belonged to the Sault St. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Surviving are: Wife Angeline "Jean" McKerchie of Mt. Morris; Sons: Robert and wife Rosalie McKerchie of Mt. Morris; James and Vickie McKerchie of TN.; Daughters: Judith and husband Ed Gilkes of Sterling; Neva and husband George Rosa of Flushing; 19 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren. Numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He will be sadly missed the last of the original McKerchie Family of 8 brothers and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents 8 brothers and 3 sisters. Family has requested memorial be offered to St. Mary's Church or St. Vincent DePaul Society. Jerome K. Reed (Ken/Jerry)
Age 78 Of Mt. Morris. Died Saturday September 12, 1998 at Hurley Medical Center. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. All condolences may be sent to the family at 18 Loch Loma, Mt. Morris, Michigan 48458..Mr. Reed was born June 28, 1920 in Detroit, the son of Walter and Amanda (Hahn) Reed. He married Flora M. Hairer March 10, 1942. Mr. Reed was Veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1941 - 1946. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at Ternstedt Division /Fisher Body Coldwater Rd. Surviving are 1 Daughter : Diane Hincka of Clio, 4 Sons Donald of Mt. Morris, Jerry and wife Margaret of Swartz Creek, Mark of Oscoda, Richard and wife Jayne of Pa. 7 Grandchildren; Mrs. David (Jacqueline)Sisler of Swartz Creek, Jerry Reed II of Burton, Nicole Hincka of Ypsilanti, Aimee Jo Reed of Grand Blanc Nicholas, Nathan and Matthew of Pa. 2 Great Grandchildren Billy and Cameron Sisler of Swartz. A long time loving companion: Martha(Marty)Clark, and a dear friend Rita Girard. A Sister Mary Alice Shelton, also 2 Brothers Stewart and Garfield all of Detroit. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 4 siblings and many friends. 

William H. Schmidt 
Of Mt. Morris, Age 70 died Saturday, September 12, 1998 at his residence. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Bill will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call 7-9 pm Sunday and all day Monday. At 7:00 pm Monday family and parish will assemble for Catholic Scripture Service followed by a Knights of Columbus Memorial. Tuesday family and friends will gather at the funeral home for prayers at 10:30 A.M. and then proceed to church for Holy Mass at 11:00am. Bill was born June 11, 1928 in Beal City, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Wilhelmina(Bogeman) Schmidt. He married Mary Jane Power September 17, 1955. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, its Ushers Club, Knight of Columbus Council # 4285, was C.C.D. instructor and was on the initial Bingo team. He was also a member of the Mt. Morris Lions Club and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He received his B.S. and MA degrees from Central Michigan University. Bill retired in 1983 as a drafting and building trades instructor at Rochester Adams High School. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane; 3 Sons and 4 Daughters: Nikolaus A. Schmidt - at home; Marcia and husband James P. McCarthy - Brighton; Lisa and husband Ernie George - Mt. Morris; Lynn and husband Tony Romero - New Mexico; Margo and husband Harley Slocum - Alanson; William H. and wife Karen Schmidt - Clio; Warren (Mickey) Schmidt - Ann Arbor; 12 Grandchildren; Brothers and Sisters: Francis and wife Norma Schmidt, Alvin and wife Darla Schmidt and Theresa Schmidt - all of Florida; Martha Ann and husband Ray Andrus; Kathleen Canal all of Saginaw; Janet and husband Mike Beizai of Grosse Pointe. He was preceded in death by his parents, a Grandson Elias Romero, and Sister Mary Beth Dale. 

Flossie Mae Matlewski 
Of Flint, Age 77, Died Friday September 11, 1998 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Services will take place 1:00 PM Monday September 14, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home, Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating with burial at New Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 PM Saturday and on Monday from 10:00am until time of service. Family and friends will gather at 7:00 PM Saturday to pray the Rosary. Flossie was born on August 10, 1921 in Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Kay and Averil (Palmer) Drumm. She was married to John E. Matlewski in 1938. She was a member of the Altar Society. Surviving are: 2 Son: John O. And wife Nancy Matlewski of Flint; Gerald Matlewski of Flint: Grandchildren: Dottie of Nevada; Frank of Clio; Melissa of Burton; John of Flint; Cynthia of GA.; Edward of Flint; Timothy of Flint; 6 Great Grandchildren ; Brother: Ellis Drumm on CA., Sister Vivian and husband Bernard Tahash of St. Helen. She was preceded in death by her husband and both parents. 

Zona Lee Byrd
Of Flint, age 62, died Tuesday September 2, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 12, 1998 at 2:00pm from the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 6-9pm, Friday from 9-9pm, and Saturday from 9am until the time of service at 2pm. Mrs. Byrd was born October 13, 1935 in Blocher, Indiana the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Clifford and Myrtle(Niccum) Hougland. She married Terry C. Byrd on November 12, 1935. Surviving are: husband: Terry; 6 daughters: Charlene Hayward of Mt. Morris; Rhonda Byrd of Flint; Marina (Harold) McKenzie of Burton; Yvonne Daniels of Mt. Morris; Monica & husband Steve Roy of Mt. Morris; Angela Byrd of Flint; 6 Grandchildren; Susie, Terry, Scott, Harold, Jennifer, and Amanda; Brother: John Hougland of Winchester, Massachusetts; 3 Sisters: Thelma Michalak of Pinckney; Sandra Mills of Pinckney; Sue Quintanilla of Flint; She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson Nicholas. 

John Strawser
Strawser, John L. Age 74. Of Linden, went to be with the Lord Monday September 7, 1998 at his residence. Graveside service will take place 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 9, 1998 at Flint Memorial Park. John was born Nov. 21, 1923 in Flint the son of David and Charlotte (Simmons) Strawser. He married Marian J. Fenton April27, 1955. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Buick Motor Co after 32 years of service. He is survived by his wife Marian, 2 Daughters and 2 Sons: Rhonda Cassidy, Lee Ann Strawser, John J. Strawser, Terry A. Strawser, 12 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, also 4 Sisters and 1 Brother: Lillian Stebbins, Erma Clark, Donna Anderson, Norma Howell, and Raymond Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 Sister. 

Leta Barriger
Of Cass City, age 98, died Sunday Sept. 6,1998 at Tender Care Nursing Home. Funeral will take place on Thursday Sept. 10, 1998 at 1:00pm at Martin Funeral Home- Fairgrove. Pastor Kevin Harbin officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6pm-9pm on Wednesday and 10am to time of service on Thursday. Mrs. Barriger was born on March 21,1900 in Fairgrove MI, the daughter of M/M James and Anna (Trimble) Davison. She married Armond M. Barriger on November 21,1919. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Fair grove and a Blue Star Mother. Survivors are daughter: Robie and husband John Smith of St. Helen; Sons: Melvin H. and wife Ruth Barriger of West Branch; Pat A. and wife Joe Ann Barriger of Fairgrove; Harry A. And wife Sue Barriger of Gwinn; Sister: Waive Mc Donald of Cadillac; Brother: Ralph Davison of Leesburg, FL.; Over 100 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. 

George Hayes 
Of Flint , age 68, died Sunday , September 6, 1998 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 11, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home with burial at Flint Memorial Park. He and Cecelia Ann Buckman were united in marriage on July 12, 1952 at Guardian Angels Church in Clawson, Michigan. Mr. Hayes retired February 1. 1988 from old Chevrolet in skilled traides as an electrician. Surviving are: wife , Cecelia Ann; Son: George Andrew and wife Jenny Hayes of Flint; Daughter Lauren Hayes and James Owens of Flint; Son William J. Lela Mae Luck 
Of Flint formerly of Beecher age 96 died Saturday Sept. 5, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Pastor Richard Cook officiating. Mrs. Luck was born August 22, 1902 in Rosebush the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Carrie H. (Kurtz) Brown. She and John A. Luck were united in marriage in 1921. He preceded her in death August 9, 1975. She was formerly employed with Marvel Carburetor. She retired from Luck's Realty, which she owned and operated several years after working with Jewett's and Crosby Realties. She was a Notary Public for many years. Surviving are her 3 sons and 2 daughters: Harold Luck of Flint; Warren and wife Pat Luck of Mt. Morris; Orville and wife Jackie Luck of Clio; Florence Hall of Phoenix, AZ; Marilyn and husband Bud Varner of Clio. 11 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Carl Brown. 

Lewis J. Shegos 
Age 90, of Mt. Morris died Wed. Sept. 2, 1998 at Fostrian Manor. Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek and Rev. Mrs. Rhashell D. Hunter officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6pm Sunday and all day Monday. On Monday evening at 6pm There will be a Hall of Honor Memorial Salute Service. Family will be present to receive friends Sunday 6-9pm and Monday 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Memorials may be directed to Community Presbyterian Church, Mt. Morris St. Mary School, or Children's Make A Wish Foundation. Born July 8, 1908 in Detroit the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Victoria (Dombrowski) Shegos. He and Faye Campbell were united in marriage May 27,1939. Louie was employed with Wonder Bread until he opened the Modern Market in downtown Mt. Morris which he operated until he formed a partnership with his brother-in-law to begin the Northwest Bowl which he operated until his retirement in 1989. He served his community, Mt. Morris, as fireman with Mt. Morris City Fire Department, served as Alderman, served 3 terms as Mayor, and served on the Genesee County Board of Supervisors; He was member and Past President of Mt. Morris Businessmen's Assn, Mt. Morris Lions Club, Red Feather Drive, Cancer Drive, and as chairman of the March of Dimes. He was past president of Flint Men's Bowling Association and was inducted into Mt. Morris Hall of Honor. Surviving are wife: Faye; son: Ronald; grandchildren: Lisa M. and husband Justo Hernandez of Temperance; David L. Shegos of Clio; great grandchildren: Justin Hernandez and Maria Henrandez; 4 sisters: Mary Smith of Kalamazoo; Laura Jenkins of Davison; Frances Knebel of Flint; Sophie Kipp of Flint; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister Bernice, and 2 brothers Roman and Stanley. 

Leona V. Marcou 
Of Clio, Age 79 went to home to be with the Lord, Tuesday September 1, 1998 at her daughters residence. Funeral services will take place 3:00 pm Saturday September 5, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home, Rev. Bruce Badder officiating with burial in Flint Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends 6-9 pm Thursday, 9-9 pm Friday, and Saturday 9:00 am till time of service. Leona was born March 26, 1919 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce and Cecilia (Eddings) Hemstreet, moving to Flushing when she was 3 years old. She married Leo Marcou June 6, 1936. He preceded her in death August 30, 1986, after celebrating 50 years of marriage. She then married Kenneth Hardy July 30, 1991. He preceded her in death December 1, 1993. She has been employed for Prophet Foods for 20 years retiring in 1972. Leona lived in Flint most of her life before moving to Clio in 1962. She was the most wonderful cook in the world, and lived her life totally devoted to her 6 children. Richard and wife Helen Marcou of Lake, Michigan; Beverly and husband Alston West of Lake, Michigan; Sharon and husband Norman Robinson of Flint. Diane and husband Norm Morris of Clio; James and wife Kathy Marcou of Burton; David and wife Teresa Marcou of Chesaning. 19 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; Sister Norma Drudi-Mogford of Flushing.
