|Betty L. Baldwin
Formerly of Saginaw passed away Sunday August 29, 1999 at the Cartwright
Caro Center in Saginaw after a lengthy battle with cancer. Age 75 years,
Betty Lou Monroe was born December 19, 1923 in Toplar, Montana the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Ford and Mildred (Loomis) Monroe. Betty married Leon Baldwin
on October 4, 1946 in Seattle, Washington. He survives her along with two
daughters, Linda and Darrell Falconer, and Particia & Randall P. Smith
of Saginaw. Four grandchildren Rachel (Sherman) Sollner, Robert Sherman,
Melissa (Smith) Mulligan and Andrea Smith. Two great grand daughters Morgan
Sherman and Leah Sollner. A sister Viola Clark and two neices of Great
Falls Montana. A son and a daughter preceded her in death. Betty was of
protestant faith and most reccently attended the Saginaw Valley Baptist
Church of Ridge Manor, Florida, during the winter months. She was a past
member of Tuscola Community Church. Funeral service will take place 11:00
AM Wednesday September 1, 1999 at the Tuscola Community Church, with burial
in the Tuscola Township Cemetery. Rev. Cyril Haines and Rev. William Ehnis

Leonra B. Horne
Died Saturday August 28, 1999 at her residence. Leona B. Scott was
born March 19, 1917 in Fairgrove, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James and
Belle (Rueger) Scott. She was married to Henry Horne March 26, 1938. He
preceded her in death December 5, 1995. Leona was a member of Fairgrove
United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter: Laura Lee and husband
Richard Reincke of Clinton Township; 3 Grandchildren: Scott Reincke of
Adrian; Eric Reincke of Macomb Township; Lisa Peterson of Mt. Clements;
1 Great Granddaughter: Mikayla Reincke; Also 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters:
Victor and Morris Scott both of Fairgrove; Erma Jean Bohnhoff of Saginaw;
Emma Lou Thrall of Marysville, Washington; She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband, 1 Brother and 1 Sister also preceded her in death.

Martin Funeral Home-Clark Chapel in Fairgrove. Rev. Walter David will officiate

Wesley Dean Hammer
Of Mt. Morris, Age 64 died Friday August 27, 1999 at McLaren Regional
Medical Center. Funeral will take place 11:00 Am Tuesday August 31, 1999
at Miles Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Walsh officiating. Burial
in Gracelawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening at
the funeral home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be directed to the American Heart Association. Wesley Dean was born on
June 4, 1935 in Custer, South Dakota the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin
Martin and Opal Mae (Reed) Hammer. He worked at AC Spark Plug for 33 years
until his retirement in 1990. He was very active with the Master Gardeners
Association, and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include: sister Alice Bruzzel
of Montana; special cousin Celia Honomichl of Burton; a few nieces and
nephews; several cousins; best friend of 38 years Robert Wojahn of Mt.
Morris. He was preceded in death by brothers, Delbert and Howard.
Of Flint age 77 died Thursday, August 26, 1999 at Heartland Nursing
Home in Flint. Funeral services will be held. Burial at Flint Memorial
Park. Mr. Rutkowski was born October 31, 1921 in Superior, Wisconsin the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Stella (Podleski) Rutkowski. He and Antonia
Olchawa were united in marriage. She preceded him in death January 11,
1993. Mr. Rutkowski was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army in Italy.
He retired from Chevrolet Metal Fab as an Inspector. Surviving are sister

Of Mt. Morris, age 79, died at Hurley Medical Center on Thursday, August
26, 1999. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday at
St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating.
Burial in Calvary Cemetery. There will be a Rosary at 6:30 pm on Friday.

9:00 p.m., and she will lie in state on Saturday at the church from 10:00
a.m. till time of service. Josephine was born July 27, 1920 at Maple Grove,
Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Anthony and Mary (Ruhl) Quaderer.
She married John Soltis in Maple Grove at St. Michael's Catholic Church
on April 26, 1946. She was a member of Mt. Morris St. Mary's Catholic Church
and Alter Society. She was a loving wife and mother. Survivors: Children:
Michael and wife Deborah Soltis of South Carolina; Thomas and wife Karen
Soltis of Gaylord; Judith and husband David Gorney of Frankenmuth; Donald
Soltis of Mt. Morris; grandchildren: Erica and Erin Soltis; Jamie, John

Theresa M. Robinson
Of Mt. Morris, Age 15, died Tuesday August 24, 1999 at Hurley Medical
Center, as the result of injuries received from being struck by a auto.

Christine was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 26, 1961 the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Carol (Bates) Whaley. Christine was a 1979 Graduate
of Ovid-Elsie High School. After graduation Christine spent a short time
in the U.S. Army before moving back to Ovid-Elsie where she worked Electro-Wire
in Owosso. On May 19, 1990 Christine moved to Flint and married Randel
Rutherford. Christine then worked at Dorothy's Reporting Services in Flint
where she was a court reporter until 1996. In 1997 Christine accepted a
job working for U.S. Federal Government as a Secretary. Christine worked
her way to being the Senior Probation Clerk for the United States Courts
Eastern District of Michigan. In 1996 Christine and Randy moved to Mt.
Morris where they shared a lovely new home. Christine loved cats all her
life. She also loved flowers and enjoyed making crafts, reading books,
taken care of her husband and stepdaughter Katie, and many dear friends
who she cared deeply for. Surviving are: her loving husband Randel Rutherford;
step daughter Katie Rutherford; Father and Mother: Richard and Carol Whaley;
Father and Mother-in-law: Frank and Betty Rutherford; Sister: Clara and
husband Erasmo Quintanilla; Brother: Richard Whaley; Sister-in-law: Shawn
Kenny; 3 Brother-in-laws: Tim and wife Dawn Rutherford; Frank Rutherford;
Tom and wife Kim Rutherford; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and
friends. Christine will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was
preceded in death by nephew Jason Rutherford.
Douglas A. Brooks
Of Arkansas, formerly of Flint, age 77 died on Monday, August 23, 1999
at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 26, 1999 at

Douglas was born July 3, 1922 in Flint, MI. Douglas was the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles and Marguerite (Fortune) Brooks. He was a member of local
#599 and retired from Buick in 1982. He married Doris Morningstar on August
6, 1942. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Arkansas and
was a Trustee with that church. He is survived by his wife, Doris, daughters
Barbara and husband Gary Helgeson, Lynn Brooks, son Michael and wife Kathy
Brooks, sister Lucille Jack, 8 grandchildren, several Brother-in-Laws,
Sister-in-Law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents,
son Charles, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. In lieu of flowers, donations may

Of Holly, age 79 died Sunday August 22, 1999 at Fenton Extended Care.

Cleta was born December 19, 1908 in Flint the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest & Mary (Morgan) Call . She lived in the Flint area all of her
life. Prior to her retirement she had been employed at AC Rochester for

Violet G. Evans
Age 87 of Mt. Morris, died Monday August 9, 1999 at Genesys Hospice

the daughter of Mr and Mrs. Dr. R.C. and Ethel (Wamsley) Lyle. Violet married
Robert Rhys Evans on June 9, 1934 in Flint, MI. She graduated from Saginaw
High School in 1929, attended Ward Belmont College 1929-1930, and graduated
University of Michigan in 1933. Violet was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority,
University of Michigan girls Glee Club and the coral union, Emeritus Club
of Alumni Association of U of M. Member and past president of Genesee County
Bar Auxiliary and Michigan Lawyers Auxiliary, Thursday study club, Harmony
girls club. Honorary member of Genesee Federation of the blind, where she
recorded books. Member of Calvary Bible Church of Mt. Morris. Survivors:
Son: William R. and wife M. Kathleen Evans of Mt. Morris; 3 daughters:
Alice L. and husband Ernest Southworth of Willowbrook, IL.; Sally I. and

Fern L. Soper
Age 96, of Mt. Morris died Monday, August 9, 1999 at McLaren Regional
Medical Center. Funeral services 1 PM Thursday, August 12, 1999 at Miles

Fern was born June 12, 1903 in Lake Odessa, Michigan, the daughter of Mr.
& Mrs. Alfred and Anna (Sickles) Hazel. She and Edward Soper were united
in marriage in 1922. Mrs. Soper is survived by four sons: Edward C. Soper
of Hale; Donald M. Soper of Flint; Harold A. and wife Vera Soper of Flint;
James Soper of Flint; 11 Grandchildren and many great grandchildren; Brother:
Russell Hazel of Lake Odessa, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her

Church, and Altar Society, and an active member of Mt. Morris and St. Mary
Senior Citizens. A member of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts Tall Pine Council
