Gary Eugene Countryman 

Age 62 of Flint, died Friday April 27, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm from Miles Martin Funeral Home Wednesday May 2, 2001. Burial in Sunset Hills. Family will be present to receive friends Monday 3-9, Tuesday 9-9 and Wednesday 9am until time of service at 1:00pm. If desired memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Gary was born December 9, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thornton and Lena (Hopkins) Countryman. He was a Veteran serving with the Marine Corps. He was a Redwings fan and enjoyed deer hunting, golfing and his grandchildren. He was employed by AC Spark Plug and a member of the Local UAW. Gary and Susan Wildbore were united in marriage June 19, 1971 in Howell. Surviving are: wife Susan; 5 children: Gary Jr and wife Sandy Countryman of Jacksonville, FL, Michelle and husband Rickey Moon of Columbus, OH, Penny Hamilton, Bobby and wife Jennifer Countryman of Flint, Lynn and husband Dan Howko of Flint, 13 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Tomma, Cheryl, Patti, and Karen; 1 brother, Gerry; many nieces and nephews, dear friend Pete Plummer. Harvey "Joe" Joseph Newcombe 

Age 60, of Mt. Morris, died Friday April 27, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday April 30,2001 at the Mt. Morris Church of Christ Elder Garfield Cooper officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park . Family will be present at the Miles Martin Funeral Home to receive friends 9:00 a.m. to 9:00p.m. Sun. and at the church on Monday from 12- noon until time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mt. Morris Church of Christ. Joe was born in Mt. Morris, July 7, 1940 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C. and Mary Jeanette (Kern) Newcombe. He and Joan Elizabeth Oliver Faust were united in marriage March 14, 1975 in Mt. Morris. He retired November 1980 from Wickes Corporation as a Supervisor of administration in Saginaw with 6 years of service, and prior to that with McLaren General Hospital as supervision of Housekeeping with twelve years of service. He loved to watch boxing and Television, and enjoyed fishing during the summer months. He spent 5 years with Genesee Fire Department #1 as a volunteer fireman. He was a member of National Executive Housekeepers Association. Survivors include: Wife Joan of 29 years; Children: Fred and Corrine Faust of Sterling, Michigan; JoAnn and Tom Leineke of Mt. Morris; Kathy LaBine of Hastings, Michigan; Teresa Newcombe and fiance' Tim Gleffe - Holland, Mich. Debra and Ron Compton of Birch Run; Daniel and Sandy Newcombe of Clio; Mark and Tammy Smith of Gulfport, Miss.; 21 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren brother: Kenneth E. and wife Andrea Newcombe of Mt. Morris; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter -in- law Beatrice, nephew Joey and 1 great grand daughter. 

Vernon W. Fettes
Age 83 of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, April 26, 2001 at McLaren Medical Center. No services will be held. Vernon was born February 16, 1918, in Harrisville the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Myrtle (Cade) Fettes. Surviving are, his wife, Mildred, daughter, Gwen and husband Mike Rosa, sister, Buelah Cole, and several nieces and nephews. 

Bessie Marie Shanks 

Age 85 of Mt. Morris and Fife Lake, Michigan died Tuesday April 24, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday April 27, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Pastor Richard Cook officiating, burial at Mt. Morris Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Children's Wish Fund at Hurley. Family will be present at the Miles Martin Funeral Home to receive friends 9am-9:00 pm Thursday. Friday morning Mrs. Shanks will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Bessie was born August 04, 1915 in Bannister, MI the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freeman and Addie Mae (Jones) King. She and John D. Shanks were united in marriage October 5, 1946 in Angola, Indiana. Bessie retired from Buick Main Office in January of 1976 after 22 years of service. She was a member of Industrial Bus Girls Retirees. Survivors include: husband John ; 4 daughters: Sharlene and husband Bob Reinicke; Jeanell and husband Don Ellis; Susan and husband Larry Adams; Sheila and husband Carl Moore; 2 sons: John and wife Kathy Shanks; Bryan and wife Brenda Shanks; 15 grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 2 sisters: Doris Snyder of Argentine; Louise Petz of FL. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 3 sisters, and 1 grandson Adam Moore. Bessie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, loved by all. 

Mary Louise "Monie" Bonk 

Age 67, of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday April 24, 2001 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday April 27, 2001 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends Thursday 12-7:00 pm. Monie was born July 30, 1933 in Onaway, MI the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Jessie (Brown) Robideau. She and Frank were united in marriage June 5, 1954. Monie enjoyed bingo, lottery, cards and reading. Survivors include: husband Frank of 46 years; daughter: Susan and husband Randy Johnson; son: Russell Bonk; grandson: Jason Bonk; several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, 1 grandson, and 2 sons. 

Patricia Sue Morey 

Of Vassar, age 65, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at her home. Patricia was born August 6, 1935 in Saginaw, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Laura (Davies) Enos. She and Guy D. Morey were united in marriage June 30, 1953 at the Vassar United Methodist Church. She attended Chapel Hill Assembly of God in Vassar. Patricia enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening and crocheting. Surviving are, husband, Guy D. Morey of Vassar; three children, Sharon Zeigler of West Branch, Kimberly and husband Dennis Sargent of Grawn, Lance and wife Cindy Morey of Millington; grandchildren, Clint and Curtis Morey, Adam, Sarah, Kaitlin and Caleb Sargent, Ryan Ziegler; step grandchildren, John, Joe and Lindsay Mallard; sister, Walla Beth and husband Harley Tedford, sister-in-law, Gloria Terry of Rochester; nieces and nephews, Steven and wife Cheryl Terry, Jeffrey and wife Mary Terry, Tracy and Mary Lou Terry, Laurene and husband Gary Sabo, Michael and wife Donna Tedford, Don and wife Jean James; many cousins. Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, April 27, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar with Pastor Wally Reams officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. Thomas Alfred Tait 

Age 50 of Mt. Morris, died Monday April 23, 2001 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 3:30 pm Thursday April 26, 2001 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday 6-9 pm,Wednesday 10-1 pm and 5-9 pm. Pastor Tom Craighead officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Tom was born November 22, 1950 the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Joyce (Cox) Tait. He was a devoted and gifted musician for over 38 years, he played the drums. He was the best father, brother, friend, and husband in the world. Survivors include: wife: Janet; daughter: Yosha and husband Tony Dawson ; grandchildren : Taylor, Cotton and Scrappy; brother: David Tait; parents: John and Joyce Tait; nephews: David, John, and Michael Tait; special uncle: Vic; friends: Randy St. Marie and Bob Curtis; many other musician friends, and many special Christian friends. He will be loved forever and always. 

Richard R. "Rick" Germain 

Age 43 of Mt. Morris, died Sunday, April 22, 2001 at Hurley Medical Center as the result of injuries from a motorcycle accident. Funeral Service will take place 1:00p.m. Thur. April 26, 2001 at the Miles MartinFuneral Home, Pastor Paul Parsons officiating with burial in Flint Memorial Park.The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 p.m Tue. 12-9 p.m. Wed. and on Thur. from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. The family has suggested that Memorial Donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society He was born August 6, 1957 in Midland, the son of Richard L. and Verla (Swenor)Germain. He married Linda Leposky Nov. 28, 1981. He served in the U.S. Army from 1974-1976. Rick had been employed with Genesee County Mental Health for the past 12 years. He was also an excellent auto mechanic. He was also a very good friend to the many people that knew him. He is survived by Wife: Linda Germain of Mt. Morris; 1daughter and 1 son, Anna I. Germain and Richard L. Germain both at home; Parents: Richard and Verla Germain of Beaverton; 1 Sister and 2 Brothers, Ella and Bruce Lauer of Fenton, Phillip and Heidi Germain of Mt. Morris, Corey and Angie Germain of Flint, Mother-in-law and Father in-law James and Anna Leposky of Bellaire, Mich. Several Nieces and Nephews. 

Leslie E. Woolley 

Age 80, of Flint died Saturday April 21, 2001 at the Heritage Manor. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday April 24, 2001 from the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Mr. Vernon Lawrence officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Monday from 7-9:00 pm and on Tuesday from 12- Noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Leslie was born on September 26, 1920 in Flint the son of Mr. And Mrs. John and Harriet (Steward) Woolley. He and Marjorie Shultz were united in marriage on August 21, 1948 in Toledo, OH. Leslie served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Normandy Invasion and in the Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion. He owned his own heating and air conditioning business and worked for Flint Warm Air Supply for 25 years. Surviving are his wife: Marjorie; 2 children: Barbara and husband Robert Starr; John and wife Julie Vessey; 9 grandchildren: John; Karrie; Kelli; Tracy; Susan; Steven; Robert; Debra; Michael; 9 great grandchildren: Several Nieces and Nephews. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Lewis, William, Alvin, and Stewart; sister Edna and grandson Jimmy Starr. 

Mary Ann Thompson 

Of Bradenton, Fl., and of Fairgrove. Age 61 died Friday April 20, 2001 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton Fl. She was born June 24, 1939 in Gilford Twp. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton and Dorothy (McAlpine) Murday. She and Gerald W. Thompson were united in marriage February 14, 1971. Surviving are husband: Gerald; Daughter: Carol Thompson of Easton, PA.; sister: Shirley and husband Dale Schutt of Lake City, FL.; niece: Susan and husband Gerald Socier of Ocala, FL.; several cousins. She was preceded in death by parents, her first husband Albert Stank August 2, 1982. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday April 26, 2001 at Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Pastor Rich Lawther officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home Clark Chapel in Faigrove Wednesday 4-9 pm and Thursday from 10- 11am at the First Presbyterian Church. Thelma K. Horton 

Age 86, of Burton died Wednesday April 18, 2001 at her residence. Funeral services will take place 1:00 Monday April 23, 2001 from the Miles Martin Funeral Home, Pastor Dale Lewis officiating. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends Saturday 6-9:00pm and on Sunday 11-3:00 and 5-9:00 pm and on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Thelma was born on August 9, 1914 in Reese Michigan the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Arthur and Sarah (Horton) Rye. She was a homemaker. Survivors include: 2 daughters: Mona Burgess of Burton; Juanita Horton of Flint; 3 sons: Gerald and wife Carol Horton of Harrison; Robert and wife Sandra Horton of Burton; Wayne and wife Jayne Horton of Flint; Son-in-law: Arthur Schofield of Clio; 26 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands: Albert Spencer and Emmond C. Horton; 2 daughters: Bertha Love and Ruth Schofield; 1 great grandson: Aaron Lang; 4 sisters and 6 brothers. 

Clyde B. Weatherford
Age 77, of Flint MI. died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on 12-Noon Friday April 20, 2001 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. With Pastor David Berger officiating. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-9:00pm and on Thursday from 9-9:00pm. Clyde was born September 21, 1923 in Darlington, S.C. the son of Mr and Mrs. Carl D. and Mattie Mae (Rogers) Weatherford. He and Marjory were united in marriage on September 4, 1969. Surviving are his wife, Marjory, 9 children: Maxine and husband raymond Foshee, Clyde Weatherford, Melodie and husband Maurillo Pacino, Cheryll and husband Floyd Stroud, Melissa and husband Mark Doherty, Franklin Geick, Joseph Geick, Adam and wife Melissa Weatherford, Shawna-Mae and husband Tim Gerace, 20 Grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren, Brothers and Sisters: William and wife Linda Weatherford, Bobby and wife Janice Weatherford, Bossy and wife Eunice Weatherford, Murel and wife Mary Weatherford, Blondel and husband George Gardner, Numerous nieces and nephews. Clyde was preceded in death by hisa parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. 

James Pershing Clark 

Age 82 died on Good Friday at Montrose Nursing Home. James was born on October 3, 1918. He was a graduate of Michigan State University and became one of Buick's original Metallurgists until he retired. During WWII, he served in the Navy. He enjoyed catering and golf. James is survived by his wife Fern, his wonderful sister Merle Dow, a loving, caring, daughter Lori and husband Ronald Fournier of Clio, two sons James E. and wife Paula and Van T. and wife Patty all of Texas, five grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, several golf courses, and his golf clubs. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Montrose Nursing Home activities fund. 

James Ray Streeter 

Age 54, of Fairgrove died Friday April 13, 2001 at his residence. He was born August 28, 1946 in Bay City, the son of Edson and Evelyn (Hellebuyck) Streeter. He married Joan C. Smith June 12, 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam war and was member of the Akron-Fairgrove VFW Post # 7486.Prior to his retirement he had been employed at the Grede Foundry in Vassar for 34 years.Jim had also been an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife Joan of Fairgrove; 2 sons and 1 daughter: James T. and Joy Streeter; Jennifer and Chris Holland all of Atlanta, Ga.; John Streeter of Merrill; Mother: Evelyn Streeter of Essexville; 1 brother and 2 sisters: Michael Streeter of Fairgrove; Kathy and Jim Nagy of Fairgrove; Jayne and Tod Houthoofd of Standish. His father Edson Streeter preceded him in death. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church, Pastor Rich Lawther officiating with burial in Brookside Cemetery under the direction of Akron-Fairgrove VFW Post 7486 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home 7:00 pm Sunday evening. The family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home-Clark Chapel in Fairgrove Sunday 5-9 p.m. Monday 1-9 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. 

Bertha Wilma Sackman
Of Mesa, Arizona, age 75, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at Mesa Lutheran Hospital. Originally from Vassar, lived in Arizona for 24 years. She was born August 25, 1925 in Ann Arbor the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Jr. and Lilly (Zissler) Bodeis. She married LeRoy Sackman. Surviving are, husband LeRoy of Arizona; daughter: Beverly & Clayton Bolton; sons: Dennis and Judy Sackman; Carl and Denise Sackman; John and Jeffery Sackman; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 4:00 pm Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar. Burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Family will be present to recieve friends at the funeral home on Wednesday 2:00 - 4:00 pm. 

Norma Vidas Severn 

Age 97 of Port Charlotte, FL formerly of Columbiaville and Mt. Morris died Wednesday April 11, 2001 in Port Charlotte FL. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday from Miles Martin Funeral Home, Mt. Morris. Burial Mt. Morris Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12noon - 9pm Sunday. She was born in Lapeer County August 20, 1903 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Blanche (Murray) Middleditch. She and Ike Severn were united in marriage at Vassar July 1925. He preceded her in death November 1, 1995. Surviving are her 2 children: George Severn of Port Charlotte, FL; Ida and husband Harold Bloomfield of Flint; 11 Grandchildren; 18 Great grandchildren; 2 Sister-in-law: Cathy Middleditch of Mt. Morris; Minnie Eisinger of Flint. Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Clarence Donald Severn, and daughter Margaret Palso. 

Paul E. Church 

Age 80, of Mt. Morris, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 6, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-9pm at the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Following, he will be flown to Charlotte, N.C. to his final resting place. Paul was born July 5, 1920 in Statesville, N.C., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy G. and Evolia A. (Benfield) Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII. He retired from GM in 1986. He is survived by: his loving companion and best friend, Elzora (Ellie) Bailey whom he loved with all his heart, also left behind are his stepchildren, Delores and Del Tewksbury, Pam and Mark Banyas, Bill and Annie Crow, John Bailey and Candice Wilson , Earla Troth and John Swanson, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his beloved pet Missy, several sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. Paul has left us with several wonderful and fun memories and we thank God for the years he was lent to us. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Karen Anne Deuel 

Age 55 of Grand Blanc died Friday April 6, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Cntr. Funeral services will be 6pm Sunday at the the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Mr. Norman Heintz officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 12 noon Sunday until time of services at 6:00 pm. She was born December 1, 1945 in Flint the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Eva (Bason) Babcock. She was a graduate of Mt. Morris High School Class of 1963. She retired from GM Delphi October 1999 with 35 years service. Surviving are her 3 children: Ronald and wife Shelly Babcock of Clio; Sandra Landes of Grand Blanc; Lisa and husband Kurt Heintz of Grand Blanc; 5 grandchildren: Misty; Kyle; Joshua; Shelby; Dierk; Father: Walter and wife Carla Babcock of Mt. Morris; Brothers and sisters: Walter and wife Nancy Babcock of Clio; Ted and wife Cindy Babcock of Clio; Sharon Belott of Fenton; Mary and husband Edward Merrill of Clio; Robert Babcock of Mt. Morris. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother 1980. 

Rosanna Servis 

Of Millington, age 89, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Heartland Nursing Home. Rosanna was born August 8, 1911 in Arbella Township, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August and Sarah (Beard) Summerfield. She married Frank W. Ill August 25, 1934. He preceded her in death. She then married William Servis August 22, 1965. He also preceded her in death, also daughter Marilyn Cooper. Surviving are, son, Cleo Ill of Millington; daughter, Rosemary and husband James Childs of Bridgeport; stepdaughter, Sharon and husband Gordon Woodhull of Vassar; Son-of-Law Wayne Cooper; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Fischhabler and Elsie Sanders both of Millington. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a. m. Saturday, April 7, 2001 at the Vassar First Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Stockwell officiating. Burial in Millington Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar 6-9p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Friday. On Saturday morning Mrs. Servis will be taken to church to lie in state, where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. 

Lila Pearl Sheldon 

Age 80, of Flint, died Wednesday April 4, 2001 at Maplewood Manor in Clio. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday from Mt. Morris Community Church, Center Road South of E. Mt. Morris Road. Helen A. Kenny 

Age 88, of Birch Run Twp. Died Tuesday April 3, 2001 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday from Mt. Morris St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek and Rev. Fr. Robert McKeon officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Kenny will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call 5-9:00 pm Wednesday and all day Thursday. Wednesday evening the Clio Eagle Aerie #3609 and Birch Run Moose Lodge #2426 will gather at the funeral home 5:00 pm and Eagles memorial at 7:00 pm. Thursday afternoon St. Mary Alter Society will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 2:00 pm and the parish and family will gather to pary the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Friday morning Helen will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of funeral mass at 11:00 am. The daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Casimer and Margaret (Pawlanta) Toddish. She and James A. Kenny were united in marriage September 20, 1936 at St. Casimer Catholic Church in Saginaw. He preceded her in death September 17, 1971. Helen and her husband Jim were active members of Sacred Heart Parish in Birch Run until 1959 when they moved to Mt. Morris and became active and involved in St. Mary Parish. Helen was a member and past member of St. Mary Altar Society and St. Rose build, member and past Madam president of Clio Eagles Aerie #3969 and member of Birch Run Moose Lodge #2426. She was loved and admired by all whom knew her. Helen spent her life working for her family, her church, her friends, and her community. She loved to cook, garden, play shuffleboard, watch football, play Euchre and reading. Left to cherish her memory are her 8 children; 5 sons: Tom Kenny of Mt. Morris; Joe and wife Judy Kenny of Birch Run; Bob and wife Diane Kenny of Birch Run; Jerry and wife Rosemary Kenny of Columbus, IN.; John Kenny and friend Linda Delecki of Clio; 3 daughters: Lois Hughes of Clio; Lois Kenny of Flint; Kathy and husband Dale Kujacznski of Clio; 16 grandchildren: 17 great grandchildren; sister: Frances (Babe) Nagy of Saginaw; 2 sister-in-laws: Wanda Kenny of Saginaw and Helen Toddish of Birch Run; numerous nieces and nephews, and a unlimited number of friends; her beloved pets Buffy and Sam. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband , daughter Carol, granddaughter Kathryn, sister Eleanor (Toby) Japcinski, and brother Casimer (Bud) Toddish. 

Warren George Denniston 

Of Vassar, Age 69, died Monday, April 2, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. George was born August 23, 1931 in Hersey, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. and Leah (Steinfoff) Denniston. He and Rose Klein were united in marriage on November 10, 1956. He was a laborer at General Motors for 29 years. Surviving are his wife of 44 years Rose of Vassar; Two daughters: Rose & husband Donald Sebert of Vassar; Anita and husband Larry Pion of Davison; 4 sons: Warren Jr. and wife Linda Denniston of Vassar; Allen Denniston of Saginaw; Earl Denniston of Mayville; Elmer Denniston of Petoskey; 3 brothers; 5 sisters; 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will take place 11:00 am Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar with Rev. David Wermuth officiating. Burial at Tuscola Cemetery. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends 5-9:00 PM Tuesday, 9:00 am - 9:00 pm Wednesday, and 9:00 am until time of services on Thursday. 

Owen Levon "Big O" Dorff 

Age 69 of Mt. Morris, formerly of Ludington died Monday April 2, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday from St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Friends may call at Miles Martin Funeral Home Tuesday 2-4pm and 6-9pm and Wednesday 9-12noon. Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm the parish and family will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary. Wednesday he will be taken to church to lie in state from 1:00 pm until time of funeral Mass at 2pm. Memorials may be considered for UofM Cancer Research. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Born October 16, 1931 Lancaster, MN the son of Mr. and Mrs. Holger and Beta (Melin) Dorff. He and Deanna (Shinsky) McGuire were united in marriage December 20, 1981.Owen was a veteran of Korean conflict serving with the US Army. He was lifemember VFW Post # 6842, Lifemember of D.A.V. Michigan Chapter #30, and lifemember American Legion Post #64 and formerly of Ludington post #76, Charter member and Past President of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #145. He was also a member of Flushing Moose Lodge #1437. "Big O" Worked as a Sheriff Deputy and Detective for 25 years retiring 1985 from Genesee County Sheriff Dept. After his retirement he traveled a couple years and then resided in Ludington for 13 years before moving back to the Flint area this past year. Owen enjoyed playing cards, golf, and sailing, and being with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife: Deanna 5 sons: Rodney Dorff of Flushing; Kevin Dorff of Bluff City, TN; James McGuire of Flint; Jerry and wife Dori McGuire of Otisville; Sean McGuire of Flint; 3 daughters: Judie and husband Michael Miljan of Spring Lake; Sheri and husband Samuel Aguilar of Montrose; Renee and husband Tracy Auten of Otisville. 14 grandchildren: Brother: Clifford Olson on Yuma AZ. Several beloved nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Lester Dorff and Virgil Olson, and sister Pearl Newsome. 

Susan McTaggart 

Loving mother, wife, and friend. Age 37, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, April 5, 2001 from the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Mr. Vernon Lawrence officiating with cremation to follow. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Tuesday from 6-9pm and on Wednesday from 9-noon and from 2-9pm. Susan was born November 11, 1963 in Cadillac, MI, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Marietta (LaMouria) Strachan. She and Douglas McTaggart were united in marriage on September 12, 1992. Susan was employed with Molly Maid for over 11 years and worked throughout Lapeer and Genesee counties. Surviving are her husband Douglas McTaggart Sr.; 2 sons: Steven and Andrew Vincent and their father Steven Vincent; 3 stepsons: Douglas Jr., Justin Ray, and Travis James McTaggart; stepgranddaughter: Dylana Maylee Athey; mother: Marietta Strachan; father: Richard Strachan; 2 brothers: John and wife Amie Strachan and Rick Strachan; 2 nieces: Brittnnee and Brandi; special friends: Ken and Dorothy Brazier; many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
