James A. Tull
Of Mt. Morris, age 77, died Thursday July 30,1998 at Mc Laren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be August 1, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. Visitors may call at the funeral home from 9am till time of the service at 3pm Saturday August 1, 1998. Curtis Watson will officiate the service. Burial will take place after services at Flint Memorial Park. Mr. Tull was born on June 14, 1921 in Brandville MO. The son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Maudie (McKinney) Tull. He married Daisy Christine Bell on August 30, 1944. He was a veteran of the WWII with 21 years of service. He had 19 years in the Air force, and 2 years in the Marines, and Retired as a Tech- Sargent. He worked for GM Buick and retired with 19 years of service. Surviving are wife: Daisy; 2 daughters: Bonnie of Flint, Donna and husband Gary Scott of Corbin, Ky. 2 grandchildren; Trena and husband Jeff Graves of Corbin, Ky., Margaret and husband Chris Williams of Flint, 2 great grandchildren; Jonathan and Rachel Caudill of Corbin, Ky., 2 brothers Oliver Tull of Birch Run, Bufford Tull of Washington State, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Edward Snider
Of Vassar, age 72, died Monday July 27, 1998 at Hills & Dale Hospital in Caro. Funeral services will take place 1:00pm Wednesday July 29, 1998 at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with Dr. Rick Flanders, Pastor officiating. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saginaw. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 am until time of service at 1:00pm. Mr. Snider was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 8, 1926 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. And Lillian M. (Neer) Snider. He worked as a fork truck driver. Surviving are: 3 sisters, Nancy Laney of Vassar, Bernice Simmons of Linwood and Florence Baase of Montrose; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to Juanita Christian school. 

Anna Lazzio
Of Mt. Morris age 74 died Monday July 27, 1998 at Uof M Hospital, Ann Arbor. Funeral mass will be 10am Thursday July 30, 1998 at St. Mary Church, Mount Morris. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial will be at St. Marys Parish Cemetery. Mrs. Lazzio will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call after 12 noon Wednesday. Family will be present to receive friends Wednesday from 12-3pm and 6-9pm. The parish and family will gather Wednesday evening to pray the Rosary at 7pm and the Holy Family Council #4285 KofC will assemble for a Knights of Columbus memorial at 7:30pm. Thursday morning Mrs. Lazzio will be taken to church to lie in state from 9am until time of the funeral Mass at 10am. Anna was born in Maizeville, Penn February 28, 1924 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Anna (Senko) Pastue. She and Steve Lazzio were united in marriage at Mahony Plane, Penn November 10, 1946, at that time they moved to Flint. She was a devoted wife and mother. During her younger years she was active in many activities with her children at St. Lukes school in Flint. She was a scout leader, library aide and religious education teacher. She also was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and taught CCD classes in the early 1970's. The Family moved to Mount Morris in 1969. Anna was a woman of deep faith and that faith was a tremendous comfort to her during her long and difficult illness. She was deeply grateful to Eucharistic ministers Marian and Tony who so faithfully prayed with her and brought her Holy Communion. The Family wished to thank Marion and Tony for their devotion, and also Dr. Vikki Boker and staff at U of M medical center for their kindness. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Steve in 1988 and her brothers John and Joseph Pastue, sisters Maria Groover and Catherine Simodijka. She is survived by her 2 children: daughter: Patricia Lazzio of Flushing; and son: Stephen M. Lazzio of Mt. Morris. her brother:Vince and his wife Genell Pastue of Flint. Also many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the University of Michigan Department of Oncology or the Franciscan Friars of Mary Immaculate. 

Edward Thomas Guldner
Of Mt.Morris, age 55, died Saturday July 25, 1998 at The Michigan Eagles Recreational Center in Clare County. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday July 28, 1998 at 7:00pm at Miles Martin Funeral Home. A Eagles Memorial will take place at that time. Friends may call at the funeral home 6:00pm till 9:00pm Monday, July 27, 1998 and Tuesday 9:00am till time of service at 7:00pm. Cremation will take place after the service. He was born in Redford Twp.. On July 21, 1943 the son of Mr. and Mrs. George and Venus (Hale) Guldner. He was a member of the Auto City Eagles Aerie 3485 in Mt. Morris and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2235 in Harrison. He was employed at AC Spark Plug Division as a carpenter. Surviving are his Son: Edward Thomas Guldner II of Harrison; Daughter: Michelle Guldner of Westland; Stepdaughter: Sherry and husband Mike Gibson of OK.; Fiancé: Valerie Harris; 2 grandchildren: Haley & Erin; Brother: Garry of Reed City; Sisters: Barbara of Redford; Sherry of Redford; Marlene of Texas; Darlene of Howell; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Michael Guldner. 

Athern A. Martin
OF Mt. Morris, age 85, died Friday July 24, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held Monday July 27, 1998 at 1:00pm at Miles Martin Funeral Home Rev. Mr. William Edeson officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call Saturday from 6pm to 9pm and Sunday 1pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm. Memorials may be made direct or at the funeral home for American Lung Association. Mr. Martin was born on April 17, 1913 in Obion City, TN the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. And Bertha I. (Jackson) Martin. He married Margaret R. Hollingsworth on May 18, 1935. He resided in Flint area since 1954 moving from Detroit. He retired from Fisher Body Coldwater Rd. Plant in 1978 as a parts finisher with 25 years of service. He was a member of the UAW Local. Surviving are: Wife Margaret; 4 daughters: Shirley and husband Fred Carter of Sterling Hgts., Elizabeth Centilli of Flint, Jean and husband Thomas Bryl of Las Vegas, Terri and husband Steven Johnson of Burton; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Beatrice Lee of Hazel Park, Naomi Turner of Clinton, KY, Opal Covington of Pontiac; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Timothy Carter in 1988. 

Frances Lillian (Midget) McPhail
Died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at Clio Convalescent Center. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday at Miles Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Mr. Richard Cook officiating. A grave side service will be held in Glen Ellyn , Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association , Senior Citizens Program of Glen Ellyn Park District or a Charity of your choice. Frances was born on July 28, 1920 in Mt. Morris the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd and Clara A. (Willis) Carroll. She graduated form Mt. Morris High School in 1938. Frances was very proud to have served her country during World War II and to have played with the Women's Army Corps Band. Frances and John McPhail were united in marriage on March 20, 1947 and lived in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He preceded her in death December 1988. Surviving are 4 sisters; Arline Burkley of Charlotte, Alice (Susie) and husband Charles Adle of Mt. Morris, Marion and husband Emmett Barnes of Montrose, Colorado and Louise and husband Ward Kenyon of Vista, Ca.; brother, Willis (Bud) and wife Ruth Carroll of Gladwin; and sisters-in-law, Violet McPhail of Springfield, Missouri and Rena Harris of Ormond Beach, Florida. The family would like to thank all those who gave her compassionate care during the last years of her life. 

Mary "Dorthy" (Kenworthy) Swinehart
Of Gladwin, age 74, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at Greenbriar of Sterling. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 1998 from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in Thetford Twp. Cemetery. Mrs. Swinehart will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris where friends may call after 12 noon Friday. Friday evening parish and family will gather to pray the Rosary at 7:30pm. Saturday Dorothy will be taken to church to lie in state from 9am until the time of funeral at 10:00am. Mrs. Swinehart was born April 22, 1923 in West Branch the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Clarence and Mary S. (Bragg) Kenworthy. She and Paul Allen Swinehart were united in marriage in Mt. Morris January 31, 1942. He preceded her in death November 6, 1976. She was a member of Mt. Morris St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Society and Gladwin VFW Auxiliary. She worked as a sales clerk for the former Yankee Stadium in Flint. Surviving are: 5 Sons; Clarence & wife Linda Swinehart of Idaho; Gerald & wife Pam Swinehart of Fairgrove; Gary Swinehart of Nevada; Bennett & wife Mary Ellen Swinehart of Gladwin; Herbert Swinehart of Shepard; Daughter: Edith Palmateer of Flint; Daughter in law; Elsie Swinehart of Gladwin; 13 Grandchildren; 14 Great grandchildren; 5 Brothers; Charles Kenworthy of Flint; Gene & wife Jeanie Kenworthy of Lapeer; George & wife Gladys Kenworthy of West Branch; Roy & wife Ila Kenworthy of West Branch; Jim & wife Delores Kenworthy of Washington; Numerous Nieces & nephews including special nephew and niece Fred and Sue Kenworthy. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Son Paul S. Swinehart Jr. July 8, 1998, grandson Herbert Swinehart in 1967 and brother John Kenworthy. 

Werber Stuwe
Of Vassar, age 72, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at the Caro Community Hospital. Friends may call at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar from 4-7pm Saturday. Mr. Stuwe was born October 9, 1925 in Detroit the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Anna(Knuttle)Stuwe. He and Ruth Reif were united in marriage November 29, 1947. Werner graduated from Vassar High School Class of 1944. He was self-employed as a building contractor and then as Industrial Brush Maker. Mr. Stuwe was accomplished in canoeing, skiing, wind surfing and aviation. Surviving are: Children; Thomas and wife Ruth Stuwe of Berre, VT; Kristin and husband Michael Belding of Berre, VT; Susan Stuwe of Willimason, MI; Grandchildren; Sarah, Hannah and Rebekah Stuwe , Laura Belding, David and Thomas Rastall; Sisters: Margaret Wagner of Scottville, MI; Gertrude Karas of Rochester, MI; 2 Aunts and many Nieces and Nephews 

Maxine B. Best
Of Mt. Morris, Age 73, died Tuesday July 21, 1998 at Hurley Medical Cntr. Funeral Services will be will be held at 1:00pm Friday, July 24, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Pastor Erwin Saultman officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call the funeral home after 6-8pm Wednesday, Thursday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, Friday up until the time of the service. Memorials may be considered to American Lung Ass. Donations may be made direct or at the funeral home. Mrs. Best was born March 22, 1925 in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Florence (Freeman) Vanaerman. She married Charles D. Best on April 27, 1944 in Bastrop, TX. She has been a member of Mt. Morris United Brethern Church. Surviving are husband: Charles; daughter: Sandy Manus of St. Lyon; son : Harvey Best of Durand; 3 grandchildren: Ashley and Melissa Best, Mark Manus; 2 great grandchildren Brandon and Shana; sister: Jane Sloat of Oden; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents. 

Edward James Fournier
Of Mt. Morris age 74 died Monday July 20, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be 10am Friday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Calvary Cemetery with military honors by VFW Gordon Bennett Post #1452. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6pm Wednesday and all day Thursday. Born in Flint June 4, 1924 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest A. and Leona M. (LeVasseur) Fournier. He and Lois Stimson were united in marriage October 9, 1971. Ed was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Marine Corps in the South Pacific. He was present and witnessed the raising of our flag on Iwo Jima. He participated in action in Saipan, Marianas Islands, Tinian, Marianas Island, Iowa Jima, and the Volcano Islands. He was the former owner of Edward School of Cosmetology retiring to Tucson, AZ 1979 after 35 years of practice. He returned to Mt. Morris 1993. Surviving are his wife: Lois. 3 sons: James Fournier and fiancé Christine Booth of Phoenix; Mark and wife Marcia Fournier of Phoenix; Hal Fournier of Phoenix. 5 daughters: Debra and husband Michael Goulet of Flint; Nicki Curbow of Summerville, SC; Diane and husband Anthony Hardin of Genesee; Judy and husband Thomas Freiheit of Clio; Laura Jackson of Flint. 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. 2 brothers: Robert J. and wife Charity Fournier of Montrose, and Ernest A. Jr. and wife Joyce Fournier of Saginaw. Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and her husband Marjorie and Michael Csiki, and nephew Robert J. Fournier Jr. 

Emily W. Mason
Of Mt. Morris, Age 88, died Monday July 20, 1998 at McLaren Regional Medical Cntr. Funeral Services will be will be held at 11AM Thursday, July 23, 1998 at First United Methodist Church. Pastor Bob Burkey officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call the funeral home after 6 PM Tuesday and 11-9pm Wednesday. Thursday morning Ms. Mason will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am-until time of funeral at 11am. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church and Diabetes Foundation. Donations may be made direct or at the funeral home. Ms. Mason was born October 4, 1909 in North Branch, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hersey W. And Frances (Deo) McInally. She married Clifford Mason in Toledo, OH on May 31, 1929. He preceded her in death Nov. 21, 1976. She has been a resident of Mt. Morris since her marriage in 1929. She has been a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. Surviving are 3 daughters: Mildred Jean and husband Robert McBride of Mt. Morris, Marilyn Mason of Flint, Karen and husband Donald Diehl of Northstreet, MI; 2 sons: Robert L. Mason of Sun City West, AZ, John L. And wife Karen Mason of Clio; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, son Richard R. Mason, 2 sisters Mildred Kern and Olga Jean Simmonds. 

Clifford J. Culver
Age 88 of Clio. Our beloved Poppy went home to be with his Lord Monday July 20, 1998 from McLaren Regional Medical Cntr. Clifford was born July 5, 1910 in Alpha, MN the son of Ralph and Grace (Getty) Culver and had resided in the Mt. Morris and Clio areas most of his life. He married Sabra Wager, March 25, 1932 in Genesee Twp. A graduate of General Motors Institute (now Kettering Institute) he was a highly skilled journeyman tool and diemaker at several General Motors plants retiring from Fisher Body in 1978 with 37.5 years of service. He also operated his own shop, C&M Machine, for many years. Clifford had been active as a Boy Scout leader and in the First Baptist Churches of Clio and Mt. Morris serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and feeding the birds and squirrels that frequented his yard. His greatest love, however, was his family who will all miss him terribly along with his many friends. He had a wonderful testimony for his Lord, telling others of the grace he had found in Jesus. Clifford is survived by his wife, Sabra. 3 daughters: Charlotte and her husband Kenneth Paulson of Clio; Mildred (Millie) and her husband Fred Gaddis of Fairmont, IN; Margie and her husband David Lester of Grand Blanc. 2 sons: John (Jack) and his wife Ethel (Johnson) Culver of Clio; Dr. James (Jim) and his wife Cindy (Newton) Culver of Linden. 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild as well as a sister-in-law: Adelaide Shenkel of Mt. Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister Glenda. Funeral services will be 1pm Thursday from Mt. Morris First Baptist Church , corner of Walter & Louisa Streets. Pastor John Lillie officiating. Mr. Culver will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where family will be present to receive friends Tuesday 6-9pm and Wednesday 10-2pm and 6-9pm. Memorials may be directed to the Right To Life of Michigan, with which he was very active for many years. 

Richard L. King
Of Vassar, Age 61, died Sunday July 19, 1998 in Garden Peninsula, Michigan in his cabin. Funeral Services will be will be held at 1:00pm Friday, July 24, 1998 at Martin Funeral Home-Vassar. Rev. Richard W. Sheppard officiating. Burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. A Eagles Memorial Service will be held 7pm Thursday under the direction of Vassar F.O.E. #2380. Friends may call the funeral home after 6-9pm Wednesday, Thursday from 9-9pm, Friday 9am until the time of the service. Mr. King was born March 6, 1937 in Big Beaver, MI, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth and Marion (Stumpf) King. He and Sharron Barrons were united in marriage on May 13, 1961. He retired in 1995 from Chevrolet Metal Fabricating as a machinist after 27 years of service. He served in the US Army 1958 to 1964. He was a life time member of the National Rifle Assoc., also the Vassar Eagles, and the Richville Conservation. He enjoyed hunting and loved the outdoors and cabin in the U.P. Surviving are wife: Sharron; 3 sons: Daniel and wife Betty King of Millington; Garry and wife Tessa King of Vassar; David and wife Stacy King of Vassar; daughter Debra and Rick Fultz of Vassar; 9 grandchildren: Ricky Fultz, Richard, Danny, Michael, Aneadra, Kayla, Skylark, Jaden, and Sierra King; mother-in-law Ceneith Barrons of Cass City; sister: Mary Lou and husband Tom Denton of St. Charles; brother: Bob and wife Pat King of Vassal; 3 sister-in-laws and 1 brother-in-law: Susie Collins of Kingston; Shirley Williamson of Caro; Jackie and husband Jerry Roeske of Kingston; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1988 and mother in 1996. 

Pauline B. Engels
Of Cass City, died Sunday July 19, 1998 at Tendercare . Age 85. She was born April 15, 1913 in Port Austin the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Angela (Snezak) Miller. She and Julius T. Engels were united in marriage August 15, 1953 in Angola, IN. She is survived by her husband: Julius, her 5 children: Donald and wife Shirley Miller of Curtisville; Richard and wife Patricia Hart of Saginaw; Geraldine and husband Bruce Wescoat of LasVegas, NV; Robert and wife Bernice Hart of Reese; Judy and husband Paul Huizar of Vassar. Many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Sister: Eleanor Lesoski of Gagetown, 2 bothers: Samuel and wife Lottie Miller, Leonard Krezeski of Caro. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters, Arlene Hart and Pauline Raymond and a grandson Robert F. Hart. Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday from Martin Funeral Home - Vassar. Pastor Phillip Hudson officiating. Burial in Riverside cemetery, Vassar. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1-9pm and Wednesday from 9am - until time of funeral at 11am. 

Vernon Lowell McGinnis
Of Mt. Morris, age 74, died Sunday July 19, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6:00pm Monday and all day Tuesday. Family will be present to receive friends Monday 6-9 PM and Tuesday 1-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Vernon was born February 28, 1924 in Carter, KY the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orval and Arthie (Smith) McGinnis. Married Audrey Bennett December 14, 1946 in Charlevoix. Veteran of WWII serving, with 740th Bomb Squad in European Theatre of operations. He retired from AC Spark Plug Division as Crane Operator with 36 years of service. Surviving are wife: Audrey; 2 daughters and 5 sons: Sherry and husband Dan Schalenberg of Traverse City, Vernon Jr. and wife Debbie McGinnis of Flint, Orval McGinnis of Mt. Morris, Mickey and wife Candy McGinnis of Flint, Bradley and wife Diane McGinnis of Mt. Morris, Darrell McGinnis of Illinois, Ramona and husband Michael Smith of Mt. Morris; 19 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren; 6 brothers and 4 sisters: Marvin McGinnis, Lovell and wife Lela McGinnis, Manford and wife Erma McGinnis, Willard and wife Ruby McGinnis, Wayman McGinnis, Ted McGinnis, Velma and husband Joe Powell, Lois and husband Dick Way, Zola and husband Sam Speakes, Leona and husband John Taylor; sister-in-law: Estie McGinnis. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Timothy Allen McGinnis November 14, 1996, brother Dewey in 1997, grandson Vernon Lowell "Ponch" McGinnis III June 13, 1987. 

Fritz Stoffel
Of Fairgrove, age 90 died Saturday July 18, 1998 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday Martin Funeral Home-Fairgrove. Pastor Phillip Hudson officiating. Burial in Gilford cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday 6-8pm, Tuesday 1-4pm and 6-8pm, and Wednesday from 1pm until time of services at 2pm. He was born July 31, 1907 in Essen, Germany the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Henrietta (Stoecker) Stoffel. He and Erna Rahlwes were united in marriage August 22, 1931. She preceded him in death Feb. 18, 1998. Prior to his retirement he had been engaged in farming. Surviving are his son Paul Stoffel of Reese; daughter: Evelyn and husband Jack Wessley of Saginaw. 6 grandchildren: John Wessley, Tim Wessley, and Larry Wessley all of Saginaw; Russell and wife Amy Stoffel of Flushing; Chad Stoffel of Reese; Kimberly and husband Scott Propson of Waterford. 2 great grandsons: Alexander and Trevor Paul Propson. A brother and a sister live in Germany. 

Katherine E. Snapp
Of California formerly of Mt. Morris age 95 died Thursday July 16, 1998 in Walnut Creek, Calif. Funeral services will be 10am Wednesday from St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Snapp will remain at Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call after 5:00pm Tuesday. Parish and Alter Society will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 7:00pm, Tuesday. Snapp will be taken to church to lie in state from 9am until time of Holy Mass at 10am. Born in Lucera Italy July 14, 1903, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Antonio and Cesaria Delduca, where along with her younger sister and her mother, she followed her father to Florence Colorado to complete the family migration to the USA in 1906. Katherine was the oldest of 13 children. She and Ora Aubrey Snapp were united in marriage Feb. 14, 1926 in Denver, CO. He preceded her in death June 28, 1975. She resided in Mt. Morris from 1938 and maintained her family home on Wilson Ave. until moving to northern California, the San Francisco area, to be near her son, Donald. She was a longtime member of Mt. Morris St. Mary Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Katherine had been employed at the former Durant Hotel in Flint for several years. Clare L. Smith
Of Mayville, age 68 died Thursday, July 16, 1998 at Covenant Health Care - Harrison in Saginaw. Funeral services will be held 1pm Monday at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with Elder Steve Beebe officiating. Burial in Fremont Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday 7-9 pm, Sunday 2-9pm and on Monday 9am till the time of funeral. Mayville - Vassar VFW Post #10884 will conduct a Memorial Service at 8:00pm Sunday. Clare was born April 17, 1930 in Mayville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don J. And Evora (Muntz) Smith. He and Violet Kuzma were united in marriage September 28,1957, they shared over 40 years together. Clare had been a Mayville resident his entire life. He served in the Korean War as a member of the US Army from 1951 to 1953. He was employed at Buick Motor Division until 1967, when he took over the family dairy farm. Clare was an active member of the Mayville-Vassar VFW Post #10884, Mayville American Legion, Michigan Milk Producers, Michigan Dairy Herd Improvement Assoc., Farm Bureau and National Rifle Assoc. Surviving are his wife; Violet, Children Connie and husband Kevin TerBush of Mayville; James and wife Arlene Smith of Silverwood; Thomas Smith of Mayville; Joseph and wife Kim Smith of Mayville; John C. Smith of Mayville; 5 grandchildren; Sarah and Jonathon TerBush ; Frank and Craig Smith; Joseph Smith Jr.; Good friend Verna Alfano. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ward, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Clara Kuzma of Flint and brother-in-law, Jerry. Ronald Dee Hedrick Sr.
Of Mt. Morris, age 47, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998 in Bayport. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, 1998 at 2:00pm from the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Rev. officiating. Mr. Hedrick was born April 10, 1951 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus and Ethel (Watkins) Hedrick. He married Karron Christine Wells November 9, 1968. He owned and operated Ron's Transmissions in Mt. Morris. Surviving are: wife Chris; 3 Children: Ronald D. II and wife Tricia Hedrick of Bitely, Amy Susan and husband Kenneth Clardy Jr. of Montrose, Kenneth Everett Hedrick and fiancé Rachel Shaker of Mt. Morris; 3 Grandchildren: Sara Louise Hedrick, Katelyn Nicole Clardy, Ronald D. Hedrick III; Father: Marcus and wife Helen Hedrick of Bayport; 2 sisters: Louise and husband James Eldred of Oscoda, Bonnie and husband Richard Bates of Fenton: 1 brother; Mark and wife Sharon Hedrick of Mt. Burney George Landon
of Mt. Morris, age 84, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998 at Genesys Health Park, in Grand Blanc. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, July 18, 1998 at the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris. Rev. Robert Burkey officiating. Burial in Mt. Morris Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6:00pm Thursday and from 9:00am to 9:00pm on Friday. Mr. Landon will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of service. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris, Elevator Fund. Mr. Landon was born February 8, 1914 in Mt. Morris, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Ella Knapp Landon, where he lived his entire life, of the family Centennial Farm. He married Ellen Edith Middleton on June 1, 1935. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1932 and attended GMI. He was employed by the Buick Motor Division and Northern Tool and Die during World War II. He was co-founder of Flushing Manufacturing Service in 1945, which he managed until its closure in 1986. More recently he has been engaged as an expediter/courier for grandsons at Ameristep, in Clio. He was a life member of the Mt. Morris Masonic Blue Lodge, the Flushing Royal Arch Masonic Order, and of the Genesee Valley Knights Templar Commandary. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing, or "wetting a line" as he referred to it, as well as time spent with family and friends at the family cottage in the thumb.
Surviving are: Loving wife of 63 years Ellen; Daughters: Carol and husband Cliff Studaker of Flushing, Marilynn Sue and husband George Chism of Ann Arbor; Son: Dick and wife Arlene Landon of Petoskey; Also surviving are Grandchildren Stephen, Jeffrey, Jim and Kim, Matt and Kay Landon, Scott and Diane, and Brett Wehner, and Carrie Sue Chism, Great grandchildren include: Brittany, Andrew and Tanner Landon, Leah, Lauren, Sara, Hannah, and Heide Wehner; Sister: Maybel and husband Bob Eckert, Devoted Niece: Evelyn Forsythe; Brother-in-law: Les Becker, and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Richard Landon, sister Lucille Forsythe, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Mildred Middleton. 

Sarah Badala
of Mt. Morris, age 95, died Monday, July 13, 1998 at the Clio Convalescent Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 16, 1998 at 11:00am from the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Burial in Assyrian Cemetery. Friends may call after 6pm Tuesday, all day Wednesday, and on Thursday from 9am until the time of service. Mrs. Badala was born May 23, 1903 in Flint, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Lewis and Ella (Scott) Dorman. She and "Sam" Israel Badala were united in marraige October 20, 1921. He preceded her in death February 22, 1983. Sarah taught herself to cook and crochet, which she was very good at doing and enjoyed both. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 sisters, and 2 brothers. 

Roy A. Harmon
Age 50 of Port Arkansas, TX formerly of Mt. Morris died Sunday July 12, 1998 at Spohn Hospital Corpis Christi, TX. No services are planned cremation has taken place. Surviving are: wife Judy Allen-Harmon, son: Paul Allen Harmon, mother: Carol Kulis of Sun City, FL, sisters: Linda Allard and Betty Funch both of FL., 2 brothers: Phillip Kulis of Las Vegas, NV and Eddie Kulis of Swartz Creek. mother-in-law: Lucille Allen of Mt. Morris. 

Leo Edward Thomas
Of Mt. Morris, age 79, died Thursday 9,1998 at Genesys Hospice Goodrich. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 11, 1998 at 8:00p.m. from the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Childerhose officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Thomas was born Dec. 3, 1918 in Flint MI. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. And Sophia M. (Corrow) Thomas. He and Olive Ruth Harmon-Sawade were united in marriage March 14, 1976. For years he was a HAM radio operator. Leo was also a member of the ham radio club of Genesee County Amateur Radio Club and American Radio Relay League ( A.R.R.C. ) and a computer club Face Computer Enthusiasts. He was a member of Sault Ste. Marie tribe of Chippewa Indian, and a member of Eastside Senior Citizens and the Krapohl Sr. Citizens Center. He was a past president and treasurer of the Highland Clubhouse Assn. He retired from Fisher Body #1 in 1978 as an Assembly Relief with 25 years service. Surviving are: wife Olive Ruth of Mt. Morris, son: Leon and wife Patricia Thomas, their son Nicholas of Burton, daughter: Tonya Thomas of Flint, her son Derrick. 7 stepchildren: Collen and husband Wayne Bard of Mt. Morris, Colette and husband Roy Hall of Burton, Carol and husband Doyle Williamson of Mt. Morris, Rennie and wife Marie Sawade of Goodrich, Tamara and husband Don Eddington of Morrish, Randolf and wife Betsy Smith of St. Johns, Richard and wife Sandy Green of Gladwin. Numerous step grand and great grandchildren. 2 sisters: Mae Abbott of Sugar Island, Mary Lepeer of Cheboygen. Several nieces and nephews. 

Robert Charles Harris
Of Mt. Morris, age 76, died Monday July 6, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services at Miles Martin Funeral Home Friday July 10, 1998 at 11am. Pastor Bob Burkey Officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6pm to 9pm Thursday and 9am till time of service at 11am Friday. Mr. Harris was born July 20, 1921 in Petoskey, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter B and Mabel W. (Walton) Harris. He was a veteran of the US Air Force during WWII as 1 St. Lt. Fighter Pilot in the Pacific. He was a member of the Morning Star Lodge 556 F&AM and Bay City Consistory. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris, and UAW Local 599. He retied in 1984 from Buick Motor Division skilled trades. Surviving are : wife Margaret; children: Paul and wife Gayle of Ohio, Peter and wife Bette of Flushing, Joan of Mt. Morris, Tom of Lennon. Numerous grandchildren , great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. brother: Gerry of Charlevoix and several nieces and nephews. 

John F. Rushing Jr.
Of Flint, age 65, died Monday July 6, 1998 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will take place 3:30 pm Thursday July 9, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home, Rev. Robert Mullen officiating with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends at 12 noon - 9 pm Wednesday And Thursday 9am until time of service. He was born September 7, 1932 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. and Alice L. (Reeves) Rushing Sr. He married Norma Clymer October 13, 1951. She preceded him in death in 1992. Prior to his retirement he has been employed at Chevrolet Mfg. Co. Surviving are: children , Rhonda Bishop of Flint; Gerald Rushing of Flint; Norma and husband Eric Mason of VA; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Betty Glasco of Birch Run; 3 brothers, Harold and wife Juanita Rushing of Prescott, Willis and wife Kathy Rushing of Birch Run; Carl and wife June Rushing of Missouri. Mr. Rushing was also preceded in death by his parents wife and 2 sisters, Shirley Rushing and Lucille Holt. 

Joesph R. Crittenden
Of Millington, age 37, loving husband and father died Monday July 6, 1998 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Funeral Services will be held 1pm Thursday July 9, 1998 at Miles Martin Funeral Home, with cremation to follow. Family will receive friends 12 noon until 9pm Wednesday and Thursday 9am till time of service at 1pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association or the Scholarship Fund for Joseph (Nick) Crittenden. Mr. Crittenden was born October 21, 1960 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl L. And Carol A. (Henderson) Crittenden. He married Kathy J. Marling on March 5, 1983. He was a member of Local Union #706 and also a member of Harley Owners Group. He had been employed as a Union Carpenter for 17 years, the past 10 years with Central Interiors. He was also an avid hunter. Surviving are: wife, Kathy of Millington; son, Joseph (Nick) Crittenden; parents, Carl and Carol Crittenden of Vassar; 3 brothers, Mike and wife Karri Crittenden of Caro; Mike Cathy Crittenden of Missouri; Carl and wife Kathy Crittenden of Flushing; sister, Tina and husband Wade Volz of Flushing; sister-in-law, Cindy Crittenden of Montrose; grandmother, Pearl Beaulieu of Millington; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Greg Crittenden. 

Kathryn Cross
Of Grand Blanc, age 91, died Friday July 3, 1998 at the Clio Convalescent Center. There will be no visitation or Funeral Service. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be directed to the donor's favorite charity. Mrs. Cross was born May 2, 1907 in Hudson, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George N. and Edith Mae (Tackabury) Kennedy. She was married to Gerald V. (Red) Cross in 1936 in Flint. He preceded her in death January 15, 1962. She had worked at Hurly Hospital as a receptionist retiring in 1972. Surviving are 2 daughters; Patricia and husband Stephen Lamb of Clio, Meredith and husband James Herrington of Florida. 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. 

Ester Marie Wodtke
Of Mt. Morris, age 99, died Thursday July 2, 1998 at Clio Convalescent Center. Cremation has taken place, there will be a Memorial Service held at Martin Funeral Home at 11AM Saturday, July 11, 1998. Mrs. Wodtke was born March 30, 1899 in Gibbs City, MI. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Octave and Susan (Auger) Fish. She married Fred Wodtke September 1961. He preceded her in death September 1985. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. She retired from AC Spark Plug Division in the spark plug dept on Industrial Ave in Flint, with 10 years of service. She lived in Lakeland, Fla. From 1972 to 1987. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, and son Donald E. Jean in March 1987. Surviving are Son: Raymond and wife Doris Jean of Mt. Morris; Stepson: Fredrick L and wife Donna Wodtke of Flint; Stepdaughter: Shirley and husband Ted Long of Mio; 15 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
