Age 80 of Mt. Morris died Saturday September 23, 2000 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday from Mt. Morris First Baptist Church. Pastor Richard Cook officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Mr. Davis will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call 6-9:00 Sunday, and all day Monday. Tuesday morning he will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am. He was born May 22, 1920 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert A. and Catherine (Quigley) Davis. He and Leona Scherrer were united in marriage November 24, 1938. She preceded him in death December 10, 1982. He then married Edith B. Brisbin-Ellison July 1, 1983 at Mt. Morris First Baptist Church. She preceded him in death September 1, 1993. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army. Member of Mt. Morris First Baptist Church. Retired March 30, 1980 from Fisher Body #1 as diemaker with 38 years service. Surviving are his 4 children: Marie and husband Dan Greer of Mio; Betty and husband Irwin Hobson of West Branch; John "Jack" and wife Anne Davis of Carp Lake; Stephen "Steve" and wife Edith "Edie" Davis of Flint. 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; Stepson: Robert F. Granville of Flint; 5 step-grandchildren; 3 step- great grandchildren; sister: Laura Jean and husband Eugene Scherrer of Flint; several nieces and nephews.
Katherine "Kay" Murray-Kovalcsik
Age 65, of Hale, formerly of Flint, died Saturday, September 23, 2000 at her home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2000 at 2:00pm from the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Deacon Jim Brown officiating. Interment in Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Sunday from 6-9:00 pm and Monday from 3-9:00 pm. Katherine was born March 19, 1935 in Flint the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William V. & Winifred A. (Richards) Murray. She and William J. Kovalcsik were united in marriage August 14, 1954 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. She retired from AC Spark Plug after several years of employment. Surviving are: her husband, William "Bill" of Hale; Son, Michael of Hale; Brother, Darrell and wife Helen Murray of Fountain Hills, AZ; Sister: Janet and husband Gary Gilmer of West Branch; Special cousin: Patty and husband Tim Alspach of Muskegon; Very special friends and caregivers at Hospice of helping Hand of West Branch. Close friends and neighbors at Sage Lake and St. Pius X Catholic Church in Hale, MI.. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John. Kay touched the hearts of all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be directed towards the American Cancer Society. Cleah was born August 26, 1921 in Otter Lake the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. and Almira (Calkins) Pease. Cleah attended Davison Schools. She and Donald R. Plane united in marriage on May 17, 1947 in Vassar, he preceded her in death October 16, 1992. She retired from AC spark plug with 34 years of service. Surviving are children: James and wife Rosemary Pease of Davison; Sherry and husband Robert Allis of Montrose; 4 granchildren: Leah and husband Andy Lambaria of Davison; Jim and wife Dawn Pease of Burton; Christi Cross of Geneseeville; Cindy Allis of Garfield Hgts. Ohio; 3 great- granchildren: Jamie; Brittnie and Caitlin Cross. Many nieces and nephews. Several beloved friends of Lake George. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

Of Richville, age 50, died Thursday, September 21, 2000 at Covenant Medical Center - Cooper. Linda was born February 14, 1950 in Saginaw, the daughter of Mr. Mrs. Willis and Beverly (Allen) Miller. She and William Mueller were united in marriage July 20, 1970 in Flint. She loved her family, which was her whole life. Left to cherish her memory are, husband William; children, Richard Thomas Mueller, Christina Lynn Mueller, Melissa Ann Mueller all of Vassar and Lynnette Andrea Mueller of Richville; grandchildren Ryan, Draven, Magdeline and Brock; parents Willis and Beverly Miller of Vassar, 3 brothers Dave and Cheryl Lake George, Fred and Barb Miller of Flint, Jim and Mill Miller of Kingston; 1 sister Joan Kern of Frankenmuth. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday at the Millington Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Edward A. Kile officiating. Burial in Riverside cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home Clark Chapel in Vassar 6-9pm Saturday, and on Sunday 2-4 and 5-9. Morris St. Mary Catholic Church and Holy Family Council #4285 KofC, Leonard had been Manager of Rockwell Sports Center of Mt. Morris since 1955. He was a Korean War veteran serving with the US Navy. Surviving are his wife: Myrna; Son and 3 daughters: Kenneth Seymour of Mt. Morris; Amy and Dr. George Tellam of Ponte Vedra beach, FL; Ann and husband Donald Kaczmarczyk of Clio; Audrey Seymour of Lyons. 7 Grandchildren: Krystina Seymour; Sarah Seymour both of Mt. Morris; Krystal Kaczmarczyk, and Donald "D.J." Age 74, of Mt. Morris Twp. died Saturday September 16, 2000 at Genesys Health Park. Committal Service will take place 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Flint Memorial Park with Pastor Ed Jennings officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Bonnie was born November 23, 1925 in Detroit the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest and Irma (Wardell) Carr. She grew up in the Flint and Mt. Morris area. She and William Clyde Eads were united in marriage on September 19, 1944. He preceded her in death July 3, 1990. Surviving are 2 children: Son Stephen D. Eads of Flint; daughter: Janice and husband Thomas Stadler of Flint; 1 granddaughter: Caitlin D. Stadler; 1 niece: Gloria Brown of Millington; 1 nephew: Manliff Sisco of Hudson, FL.; She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister Myrle Ross.

Cleo was born December 24, 1921 in Perrington, Michigan the daughter of James Russell and Abbie (Dunham) Paxton. She married Warren E. Hart Dec. 20. 1947. He preceded her in death May 5, 2000. She served in the U S Navy during World War II as a Specialist 3rd. Class. For many years Cleo and Warrren opened their swimming pool for the children of Mt. Morris to use and enjoy. In 1998 Cleo and Warren were inducted into the Mt. Morris Hall of Honor. She is survived by 1 Son: Donald and wife Connie Hart of Millington; 2 Grandchildren: Abbie and Aaron Hart; 2 Brothers: Louis and wife Mille Paxton of Clio; James Paxton of Clare.
William Dalton Phillips

Bill was born August 8, 1920 in Bernie, MO. the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Henry and Ethel Tolson (Davis) Phillips. William was united in marriage to Rosetta Francis Lobdell on December 6, 1947. Bill resided in the Mt. Morris area for the past 60 years. Bill was employed at General Motors Parts Division working as a fork truck driver, for 41 years, on second shift. His days were spent as a full time bus driver for Mt. Morris School District where he enjoyed transporting the local kindergarten students for 34 years. After his retirements he worked 8 years as a custodian for Phillips & Phillips Inc. He was a decorated World War II Veteran (Sergeant) receiving many commendations including the Purple Heart. Bill was a member of D.A.V. Post 122, and a member of U.A.W. Local #659. Survivors are wife of 52 years, Rosetta of Mt. Morris; 5 children: Diane Laurin of Clio; Gary Phillips of Newport; Thomas Phillips of Mt. Morris; Richard Phillips of MA.; Ramona Leach of Mt. Morris; 24 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 6 surviving brothers and sisters of a family of 17; 2 brothers: Darrell; J.R.; 4 sisters: Linda; Barb: Mary; and Pat.

Mrs. Menerey was born October 16, 1925 in Flint the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Mary (Holland) Brown. She married Lloyd Menerey in Clawson February 8, 1947, he preceded her in death on August 12, 1994. She worked as a clerk in the retail business of Meijers, retiring in September of 1988. She attended Mt. Morris Community Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, movies and crossword puzzels. Mrs. Scane was born March 15, 1912 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie and Edith (Dyer) Wycoff. She married Joseph Scane July 28, 1937 he preceded her in death October 14, 1984. Mrs. Scane worked as a Cosmetologist and Beautician. Surviving are sons: James and wife Helen Scane of Milford, MI.; Jerry and wife Maureen Scane of Sunman, IN.; daughter: Judy and husband Wayne Lintz of Flushing, MI.; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Thelma was born September 19, 1920 in Atlanta, MI the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Oscar and Laura (Lewis) Carlson. She and Charles Vert were united in marriage on December 29, 1941 in Baton Rouge, LA. Thelma was known around the Mt. Morris area for selling honey out of her home and her involvement for many years with the Brownies and Girl Scouts. She was also a den leader for the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and making ceramics and various crafts. She was also a very good seamstress. Surviving are: husband, Charles Vert of Mt. He married Donna Mae CoonJune 12, 1949. She preceded him in death September 26, 1975 . He then married Ethel Hillaker who preceded him in death June 18, 2000. Mr. Stehle served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, and had been employed as a driver/salesman for Paramount Potato Chip Company for 14 years. He is survived by 6 children: Twila and husband Ralph Sallas; Kirby and wife Donna Stehle; Mike and wife Pam Esslinger; Julie and husband Wes Usry; Sara Mugavero; Paula Robinson; 13 grand-children; 4 great grandchildren; also 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Wayne Stehle; Art Stehle; NelsonStehle; Clara Robertson; and Norma Fould. Morris, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Grace (Parmeter ) Stadler. Kenny was an avid farmer and gardener. He owned and operated Stadler's Service for many years. Survivors include: wife, Jeanne L. Stadler of Mt. He was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S.Army 82nd Airborne Division in Europe and retired from Chevrolet V8 inspection with over 30 years service. Surviving are his 3 daughters and 2 sons: Jannette and husband David Milliron of Millersburg; Peggy and husband Lerry Dominy of Framingham, MA; Gwen Hines of Springhill, TN; Jerry and wife Kathy Tufford of Mt. Of Vassar, age 61, passed away, Monday September 4, 2000 at St. Mary's Medical Center. Marcia Ann Yeager was born October 8, 1938 in Bay City, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Clifford and Marion(Robinson) Yeager. She was married to Eugene Schnell on June 3, 1961. Marcia had been employed at the Bavarian Inn of Frankenmuth. She was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville. Surviving besides her husband, are two sons and their wives: Michael and Carol Schnell of Vassar, Clifford and Kris(Beyerlein) Schnell of Vassar; four grandchildren: Chad and Jason Schnell, Zachary and Stephanie Weiss; a sister and brother in law: Sandra and Fritz Sommer of Munger; a step brother: Jim Carr of Suttons Bay; step mother and step father: Emmet and Dorothy Bates of Houghton Lake; mother in law: Edna Schnell of Vassar; brother in law: Ronald Schnell of Vassar. She was predeceased by her parents: Clifford and Marion Yeager; and a sister in law: Sally Schnell. Marcia enjoyed camping, ceramics, wood-carving, painting, gardening and her grandchildren. He was born January 15, 1929 in Russellville, Arkansas the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen and Lethea (Grossman) Smith. He moved to Michigan 1950, He and Betty Klatt were united in marriage June 17, 1960. He attended Mt. Morris First Baptist Church and regularly attended Sunday School. He previously attended First Wesleyan Church of Flint. Clarence read God's Word daily. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior as a teenager. He enjoyed driving, wood working, and mechanics. He and his wife, Betty, enjoyed visiting and photographing lighthouses in Michigan. He was a caring, devoted husband and father. He would do anything for his family. "Smitty" retired from Buick Motor Division, engine plant #36 in 1988 as Utilityman with 38 years service. He was employed by Flint Auto Auction as a driver since 1994, where he delivered and picked up vehicles. Surviving are his wife: Betty; Son and 3 daughters: Cathy and husband Fred Barden of Vassar; John and wife Cathy Smith of Davison; Shelly Smith of Flint; Sheryl Smith of Flint; 4 grandchildren: Adam and wife Jean Barden; Eric Barden; Kara Barden; Joe Smith; Brother: Mark and wife Gail Smith of Fenton; Several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special aunt: Helen Phillips of California.He was preceded in death by his parents Stephen in 1971, Lethea 1978, and brother Joe in 1977.
