Age 71 of Flint went to be with the Lord Wednesday August 30, 2000 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday from Mt. Morris First Baptist Church, corner of Walter & Louisa. Rev. Mr. Robert Lilley will officiate, Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Mr. Smith will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call 6-9 Sunday and all day Monday . Family will be present to receive friends 6-9 Sunday and 1-5 and 6-9 Monday. Tuesday morning he will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of funeral at 11:00 am. He was born January 15, 1929 in Russellville, Arkansas the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen and Lethea (Grossman) Smith. He moved to Michigan 1950, He and Betty Klatt were united in marriage June 17, 1960. He attended Mt. Morris First Baptist Church and regularly attended Sunday School. He previously attended First Wesleyan Church of Flint. Clarence read God's Word daily. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior as a teenager. He enjoyed driving, wood working, and mechanics. He and his wife, Betty, enjoyed visiting and photographing lighthouses in Michigan. He was a caring, devoted husband and father. He would do anything for his family. "Smitty" retired from Buick Motor Division, engine plant #36 in 1988 as Utilityman with 38 years service. He was employed by Flint Auto Auction as a driver since 1994, where he delivered and picked up vehicles. Surviving are his wife: Betty; Son and 3 daughters: Cathy and husband Fred Barden of Vassar; John and wife Cathy Smith of Davison; Shelly Smith of Flint; Sheryl Smith of Flint; 4 grandchildren: Adam and wife Jean Barden; Eric Barden; Kara Barden; Joe Smith; Brother: Mark and wife Gail Smith of Fenton; Several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special aunt: Helen Phillips of California.He was preceded in death by his parents Stephen in 1971, Lethea 1978, and brother Joe in 1977.

Age 90. Of Flint, died Wednesday August 30, 2000 at his residence. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 am Saturday at the Miles Martin Funeral Home. James was born December 3, 1909 in Crockett County , Tenn., the son of James H. and Della (Climer) Wright. He married Irene B. Sexton in Grand Rapid, Mich. on August 16, 1929. Prior to his retirement in 1972 he had been employed at AC Spark Plug for 26 years. He had also served as a volunteer fireman for the Burton Fire Dept. Donald W. Botimer
Of Vassar, age 74, died Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at his home. Mr. Botimer was born August 25, 1926 in Vassar, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd and Dorothy (Worden) Botimer. He and Marjorie Brasseur were united in marriage May 26, 1951 in Indian River. Donald served with the U. S. Army Air Force in 1945. He retired in 1985 from Universal Engineering in Frankenmuth as a tool assembler. Donald enjoyed sailing, hiking, fishing and panning for gold. He liked to invent and sold one of his patents. He loved his family, nature and life. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; three daughters: Deborah and husband Larry Schluckebier of Frankenmuth; Donna and husband John Perkins of Frankenmuth; Denise and husband Truman Barbier of East Tawas; 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey and wife Shaina Schluckebier; Janelle Schluckebier; Justin Botimer; Marjorie Barbier; Nicole Barbier; 2 great grandchildren: Ryan and Jeremy Schluckebier; 2 sisters: Kathleen and husband Mark Blossom; Marylou and husband Gary Young; Stepmother: Ruth Botimer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and stepmother Dorothy Bradley Botimer. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 1, 2000 at the First Presbyterian Church in Vassar with Rev. John Becker officiating. Burial at Riverside Cemetery. Frank Stuart Aymer Jr.
Age 61 of Akron died Thursday August 24, 2000 at his home. Born in Bay City March 24, 1939 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart and Amelia (Jablonski) Aymer. He moved to Fairgrove at an early age. He and Irene J. Dudek were united in marriage July 2, 1976 and moved to Akron. He was a graduate of Saginaw Valley University with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Math and Russian. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Caro a member and supporter of the Aviary Society, a supporter and board member of the Bay Area Council of Boy Scouts. He loved woodworking, fishing, his pet birds, computers and the internet, also basketball especially girls basketball and the Pistons. He was a private pilot and once owned his own airplane. He retired March 1999 from Dow Corning as their supervisor of telecommunications with 23 years service and formerly worked with Consumers Power as their computer analyst with 10 years service. Surviving are his wife: Irene; 4 stepchildren: Edward Westerby and Roxanne of Akron; Michele and husband Larry Latimer of Akron; Daniel and wife Patricia Westerby of Kingston; Steven and wife Susan Westerby of West Bloomfield; 6 grandchildren: Katie Latimer and fiancé Matthew Long; Danielle Latimer; Allison Latimer; Daniel Powell; Cristina Westerby; and Richard Westerby; 1 brother and 1 sister: Mary Jo and husband Willis Wager of Fairgrove; Edwin and wife Caron Aymer of Fairgrove. Of Saginaw, age 95, died Tuesday August 22, 2000 at Covenant Medical Center- Cooper in Saginaw. Elizabeth was born April 4, 1905 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gasper & Elizabeth (Miklovich) Hrehor. She lived on a farm with her family and went to school to be a nurse. She worked three years at Toledo General Hospital as a nurse for home health care where she met her husband to be. After their marriage they moved to North Branch. She and Hal J. Buck were united in marriage February 16, 1926 in Deshler, Ohio. He preceded her in death March 1984. Elizabeth enjoyed sewing and cooking. Surviving are daughter: Mary Johnson of Saginaw; grandchildren, Betty Jane and husband Donald R. Baker of Saginaw. Thomas F. and wife Barbara Johnson of Vassar; John H. and wife Karen of Adams Fairgrove; Judy and husband DanMuska of Lake Orion; James and wife Debbie Adams of Houston, Texas; Jeffrey Adams of Caro; great grandchildren: James Baker; Jason and wife Tiffany Baker; Heather Baker, Matthew Hoerlein, Tammy and husband Michael Van Horn, Cameo Johnson, Thomas F. He and Lillian Swanda were united in marriage in Paxton, South Dakota August 30, 1938. She preceded her in death August 1, 1997, after almost 59 years of marriage. John was a Charter member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and member of the 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus #4090 Davison. John was a former Genesee County Deputy Sheriff, formerly employed at Sprague Dairy, Pure seal Dairy, Dean's Foods as a dairy engineer, then retiring form Clare Electric as an Electrician. Member of UAW #598 and retired from Fisher Body #1 production with 33 years service. Wayne enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was a member of the N.R.A. and was an avid hunter. He was employed at GM Lake Orion assembly as a pipe fitter and previously with Buick. Before working with General Motors, Ed owned and operated Ace Roofing in Flint. Surviving are his wife: Linda; 3 children: Denise Wiederman-Walker and husband Michael of Mt. She was a school store manager of Clio High School. She worked at Babies - R- Us for a year and was reccently promoted to manager of toys. He was a charter member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and retired July 1, 1994 from Buick Motor Division skilled trades as a tool grinder with 47 years service. Max was born October 28, 1942 in Flint, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Eugene and Edna Margarette (Myers) Reed. He married Sharon Richards in December 1961. Prior to his retirement in 1999 from the Oldsmobile Plant, he worked as a metallurgist at Buick for 34 years. Max served in the US Navy aboard the USS Randolph. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School, class of 1960. He married Lucia Delgado on April 14, 1956 at All Saints in Flint. He worked for GM as a UAW Representative and as a Supervisor for Mt. Morris Twp. He was on the Beecher School Board from 1970-1974, he was a member of the North Newburg Durand Masonic Lodge 161, Flushing Moose Lodge, and UAW Local 598. He served as Mt. Morris Twp. Supervisor for 4 years, Mt. Morris Twp. Trustee for 14 years, and was on the UAW National Bargaining Committee 1974- 1981. Surviving are his wife: Lucia; 6 children: Christine Coughlin of Mt. He preceded her in death October 5, 1989. Gloria was a member of Leo Crowe Post # 8236 VFW and she was a member of Ambassador Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter: Diane Isaacson of Davison; 3 grandchildren: Kimberly Tinklepaugh and fiance LeRoy Davis of Mt. Morris; Deborah and husband Randy Frank of Davison; Susan and husband Steve Shoenberg of Novi; Great grandaughter: Lauren Frank; Brother: Carl and wife Donna Aquino of Flint; Several nieces, nephews, and friends including her special friends; Julie Queen; Beverly and Jerry Severn; and Dina King. She was preceded in death by her husband, daugther, and 2 sisters.
Alleyne L. Gray
Passed away Saturday, August 5, at Tendercare of Saginaw after a long illness. Alleyne L. Aldrich, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mert and Mary (Schlicht) Aldrich, was born December 14, 1910 on the family farm near Vassar, where she resided her entire life until her illness. She graduated from Vassar High School in 1928 and attended Bliss Alger Business institute. She retired in 1971 from Caro State Hospital and previously worked at Dow Chemical Company and Saginaw General Hospital. She married David S. Gray in December, 1963. He predeceased her in June of 1976. Surviving are: two sons and two daughters, Donald L. (Kathleen) Tinglan; David A. Tinglan; Carol J. Johnson all of Saginaw; Linda S. (George) Jupin of Alexandria, VA; a son-in-law: Gerald E. Johnson of Saginaw; 4 step-daughters: Suzanne (Franklin) Morse; Mary (Roger) Pierce both of Vassar; Betsy (Floyd) Light of Reese; Barbara (William) Frost of Saginaw; 12 grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; special friends Freida Smith and Muriel Lewis. One sister Beatrice Haines, predeceased her. She was a member of the Vassar United Methodist Church and the North Vassar Farmers Club. She was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed sewing, baking, traveling, playing scrabble and spending time with her family. Special thanks to Statman's Manor. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at Vassar United Methodist Church. Pastor Richard Sheppard to officiate with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Tuesday 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Gladys Phoebe Hester
Age 92 of Mt. Morris died Friday August 4, 2000 at Genesys Hospice. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Monday August 7, 2000 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Elders Claud and Marjorie Smith to officiate. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will recieve friends at the funeral home Saturday 4-8 pm, Sunday 2-8pm, and Monday 9am until 10am the time of service. Gladys was born May 3, 1908 in Burdickville, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Peter and Rose (Nephew) Price. She married Elwood D. Hester July 19, 1923 in Davison. She was a life member of R.L.D.S.-Community Church of Christ. Survivors include children: Elwood (Pete) and wife June Hester; Franklin Hester; David Hess; Velma and husband Chuck Buss; Sherry and husband Jerry Riley; Jerry and wife Georgia Hester; Caroline (Sue) and husband Larry Judd; Cletus Hawtin; Ruth Mead; 20 grandchildren: Leslie Hawtin, Wesley Hawtin, Dennis Hawtin, Connie Plamondon, Calvin Hawtin , Janet Trigger, Pamela Ferrell, Peggy Gilbertson, Keith Hester, Kevin Hester, Bradley Hester, Phillip Hester, Scot Hester, Charles Ruprecht, Diana Davidson, Dana Riley, Donna Hester, Paul Hester, Jeffrey Judd, Jason Judd; 42 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; Preceded in death by Husband Elwood D. Hester, daughter Irene Hawtin, 2 sons Douglas Hester and Leslie Hester, 1 sister Rhoda Lattourette, and 2 brothers Sidney and Floyd Price. Myrtle Josephine Clint
Age 88, of Mt. Morris, died Friday August 4, 2000 at the Genesys Hospice Care Center. Memorial service will be held Sunday evening at 7:00 pm from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Dodge Rd. in Clio. Myrtle was born April 9, 1912 in Port Huron the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. and Vera (Shepherdson) Miller. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Clio. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a payroll clerk for Genesee County. Surviving are: daughter, Phyllis Simpson; 9 grandchildren, Marsha, Marilyn, Steven, Michele, Julie, Jimmy, Scott, Conrad and Meredith; 25 Great Grandchildren; 6 Great great Grandchildren.
Frans Olof Ohlsson
Of Mt. Morris age 77 died Thursday August 3, 2000 peacefully at his residence. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday August 8, 2000 at the Salem Lutheran Church. Pastor Thulisvee Beresford to officiate. Frans was born February 9, 1923 in Ostersund, Sweden the son of Mr and Mrs. Anton & Julia (Holter) Ohlsson. Frans was a member of his home town mens choir and was a menchanic in the Swedish Air Force for 2 years He married Gun Tingstrom July 31, 1948. In 1958 Frans his wife and two children emigrated to the United States. Frans resided in Mt. Morris for the last 35 years. He joined the Salem Lutheran Church in 1959 and the Vasa Order of America in 1961. He was an active member of the Flint River Valley Steelheaders and worked 22 years as a Tool and Die Maker at A.C. in Flint. He started and was active with the Toys for Boys from 1963 until he retired in 1985. Survivors include wife: Gun; daughter: Birgitta and husband Rod Brown; 2 sons: Bjorn and wife Joy Ohlsson; Bengt Ohlsson; 6 grandchildern , 2 great grandchildren 3 brothers: Eric and wife Rut Albin; Kurt and wife Elsa; 2 sisters: Annagreta Norrman; Brittmarie Rolandson; sister-in-law: Mia Ohlsson. Preceded in death by both parents brother Alf and sister-in-law Aina Ohlsson. Donation may be considered to the Salem Lutheran Church.
Ernestine F. "Campbell" Marks
Age 87, of Frankenmuth passed away Tuesday August 2, 2000 at St. Mary Hospital in Saginaw. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday August 5, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Pastor Richard Cook officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 6-9 pm, 9am - 9pm Friday and Saturday morning Mrs. Marks will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Ernestine was a loving mother, grandmother, and "Grama Great". She was born July 3, 1913 in Richfield Twp. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil and Maude Mathews. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Ernestine retired from AC. She was a generous caring and loving person who loved to write and wrote many stories. She moved to the Clare area where she owned a business and 2 lakes, one of which was named after her. She gave many happy memories to all her grandchildren. Mrs. Marks moved to Frankenmuth in 1985. Survivors include: 3 children: Jean and Donald McPherson of Mt. Morris; Robert and Joanne Campbell of Davison; Patrick and Judith Campbell of Nixon, MO.; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; special friend Walter. She was preceded in death by her son James Campbell, daughter Helen Campbell, 1st husband Robert Campbell, and 2nd husband John Marks.
