Sylvia J. Henley
of Flushing, Age 56, died January 31, 2000 at her residence. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held February 4, 2000 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 Pm. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Genesys Hospice Patient Care. Mrs. Henley was born in Brownsville Tennessee the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard and Bennie Edna (Bell) Cox. She married Robert L. Henley on July 26, 1976, He preceeded her in death on November 11, 1999. Surviving are children: Gail and Lance Bell of Texas; Stephen and Windi Henley of Flint; Ronald and Shana Prieur of Owosso; Kimberly Prieur of Port Huron; Julie and Scott McPherson of Flushing; Tonya and Robert White of Washington; Danny Prieur of Kansas; brother: Wayne and Betty Cox of Davison; sister: Bev and Steve Wombolt Of Flint. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, brother Danny, and grandson Stephen. 

Gary L. Brown
Age 50. Of Mt. Morris died suddenly Sunday January 30, 2000 at Hurley Medical Center.Funeral service will take place 11:00am Wednesday February 2, 2000 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home, Rev. Dale Pattee offficiating with burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday 4-9 pm and Wednesday from 9:00am till time of service at 11:00am. Gary was born November 7, 1949 in Flint the son of Marvin and Melvijean (Towers) Brown. He married Rosemary A. Spanke April 15, 1972. Member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Prior to his reitrement he had been employed at Buick Motor Co for 29 years. He is survived by Wife Rosemary A. Brown; Daughter: Sherry Gordon of Indiana; Stepson: David White of Lapeer; Son: Dan and wife Melissa Brown of Burton; Grand Daughter: Sadie Brown; Daughter Krista and husband William Behm of Va.; Step Mother: Donna Brown of Fla.; 1 Sister: Christina and husband Gayle Haines of Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Yvonne Brown and Step Brother Danny Twigg. 

Beatrice M. Leonard

Of Cass City, Age 89 died Sunday January 30, 2000 at Tendercare in Cass City. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with Rev. Mr. Douglas Stockwell officiating. Burial in Tuscola Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home 6-9pm Tuesday, 9am - 9pm Wednesday, and 9am until time of funeral sevices at 1pm Thursday. Those desiring may consider memorials to American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mrs. Leonard was born December 3, 1910 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Kathleen (Putman) Plane. She lived most of her life in Vassar and attended Vassar First Baptist Church. Surviving are her 5 children: Maebelle Leonard of Vassar; Mary Jane and husband Alfred Kennard of Vassar; Maxine and husband Leonard Johnson of Sterling; Virginia Sontag of Caro; David and wife Jan Leonard of Marlette; 25 grandchildren; 38 Great grandchildren; 1 Great great grandchildren; sister: Josephine Briggs of National City numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Leonard; 2 sons: Lyle Decker, and Charles Leonard; 2 grandsons: Edward Cole, and Larry DuRussel; 3 brothers: Earl Plane, Donald Plane, and Albert Plane; and brother-in-law Nelson Briggs. 

Patricia E. Frey
Age 84, of Flint died Sunday January 30, 2000 at Genesys Health Park. Cremation has taken place. Patricia was born July 19, 1915 in Sullivan, Illinois. Patricia enjoyed crafts, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include: husband Richard of Flint; Brother: Ray Sullivan of FL. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and doctors at Genesys, and staff and friends at Briarwood. 

Josephine LaMonica "Josie" Wells

Remembered as "Josie", of Mt Morris, age 89 died January 27, 2000 at Briarwood Manor. Services will be 11:00 am at Mt Morris St Marys Catholic Church Tuesday.With burial in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Wells will remain in Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call after 5:00pm Sunday and on Monday 1-9pm. Tuesday Mrs Wells will lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service.Contributions in her name may be made to St. Mary Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. The family and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary Monday 7pm. Tuesday morning Mrs. Wells will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until time of the funeral mass at 11am. Mrs wells was born in Uniontown, Pennsilvania the daughter of Joseph and Caroline LaMonica. She was the fourth of 12 children. She lived in New Boro, Pennsilvania until she moved to the Flint area in 1954. Mrs. Wells was active in several organizations, including the Daughters of Isabella. Surviving are her son, Richard G. Wells with his two children, Sandra Jo and Jeffrey Joseph. Her other son, Robert K. and his three sons Kevin, Keith and Kenneth. Many grandchildren. All of her family will miss her very much.Special thanks to the caring staff at Briarwood Manor. Especially Vickie. 

Alice R. Rowe
Age 59, of Flint died Thursday January 27, 2000 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Saturday at Miles Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Marks officiating. Burial in Thetford Township Cemetery in Clio. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 4pm until 9pm Friday, and Saturday morning from 9am until the time of service at 11:00am. Alice was born March 3, 1940 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charles & Bessie (Evans) Bouck. Surviving are: 3 Sons: Jim Rowe, Ronald Rowe, and Charles Rowe; and 2 daughters: Karen Rowe, and Terra Rowe. 

Clark Hewins
Age 73, of Mt. Morris died Monday January 24, 2000 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday from Miles Martin Funeral Home 1194 E. Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris. Family will receive friends Tuesday 5-9 and Wednesday 9-1. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek Officiating with burial at Calvary Cemetery . Clark was born August 6, 1926 in Mt. Morris, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent and Gertrude (Clark) Hewins. Clark and Patricia were united in marriage on November 13, 1948. She preceded him in death December 16, 1999. Mr. Hewins was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Clark served with the U.S. Army and was a fireman for the city of Mt. Morris. He was employed at Rockwells Hardware for thirty years. Mr. Hewins enjoyed camping. Survivors include: cousins, many nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and many friends. 

John M. Murgas
Age 84, of Flint, died Monday January 24, 2000 at home. Funeral services will be 10:30 pm on Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Family , friends and parish will gather to pray the rosary at 8:00pm Tuesday January 25, 2000. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 1-9 pm Tuesday. On Wednesday the family will gather at the funeral home at 10:00 for prayers and then proceed to the church for Holy Mass. Mr. Murgas was born on June 25, 1915 in Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Dora (Valek) Murgas. John was the last of the elders. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 7 brothers and 2 sisters. 

Ralph Justus
Age 63, of Mt. Morris died January 23, 2000 at McLaren Regional Hospital. There will be no services. Surviving are wife: Sandra. 

Julian Joseph "Joe" Muron
Mr. Muron passed away January 21, 2000 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11:00am Monday January 24, 2000, family will assemble for prayer at 10:30am then proceed to church. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Sunday 12-9pm. Rosary will be held 7pm Sunday. Mr. Muron was 69 years old, he was born on June 15, 1930 in Marianna, PA.. He attended East Bethlehem High School where he excelled in football and baseball. He married Pauline Rose Karnjate from Clarksville, PA., they shared 50 years together. He served as a sergeant in the US Marine Corp. for 4 years, 3 years of that service were in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home he worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines. They moved to Flint where he began working at Fisher Body, Coldwater Road where he was a member of Local 326 until retiring after 39 years. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren. He was a past member of the Genesee High School Athletic booster for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time. He is survived by wife: Pauline; 5 children: daughter: Kathy and husband Mark Mack; son Michael and wife Deborah; son Julian II.; son Bill and wife MaryJo; son Brian and wife Rachel; 10 grandchildren; Julie and husband Jim Redumski; Amy and husband Lee Porritt; Erin; Dayna; Tony; Jennifer and husband Joseph Smith; Christopher; Julian III; Morgan; Benjamin; 4 great grandchildren: Mariah; James; Lyndsey; Kuristin; special sister in law Mitzie Reider and special brother in law Richard Reider; special niece Mary Ann and husband Todd Blackstock; special niece Jennifer Reider. He is survived by 1 brother , 3 sisters, many nieces and nephews all of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his brother Bill and his mother Antonie. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten 
Harold Geary

Of Mt Morris, age 64 went to be with the Lord on January 21,2000. Funeral services will be at Miles Martin Funeral Home at 11:00 am Monday January 24 , 2000 . Rev Robert Welch to officiate. Cremation will follow service. Friends may call Saturday 5 pm-9 pm ,all day Sunday, 9 am until service on Monday. Mr. Geary was born in Flint Michigan August 25,1935 the son of Mr and Mrs Harold and Albina (Podvin) Geary. He married Donna M. Welsh on May 27,1960 in Elgin, IL. Harold worked at GM Truck and Bus plant. He retired in 1987. Harold left behind his wife and five children: Surviving are his wife Donna Geary; Children; Michelle Wilson; Kevin and wife Michele Geary; Stephany and Frank Duarte, Harold Geary III; Darren Geary; 2 brothers James and wife Gladys Geary; Earl and wife Evangelina Geary; 2 sisters Barbara an husband George Grey; Rose and husband Delbert Brady; Grandchildren: Chrystal; Brandon; Zachary; David; Alec; and Xavier. Numerous nieces and nephews; Preceded in death by both parents 2 sisters Myrtle Crawford; and Francis Norton. 

Frank Lockard
Age 97 died Wednesday January 19, 2000 at McLaren Regional Medical Cntr. Funeral services will b held 1:00 pm Friday at Miles Martin Funeral Home.Burial at West Vienna Cemetery. Family will be present to recieve friends at the funeral home 12 - 1pm Friday. Mr. Lockard was born February 10, 1902 in Unionville, Michigan. Married Lillian Powell. 

Bertha J. "Sally" Boyse
Age 71, of Genesee Township, died Wednesday, January 19, 2000 at Genesys Hospice. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Saturday, January 22, 2000 at Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Rev. Walter David officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 5 pm to 9 pm on Friday, and 9 am until service on Saturday. Bertha was born December 28, 1928 in Flint, MI the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert J. & Mary A. (Slusser) Daniels. She retired from Genesee Memorial Hospital where she worked as a respiratory therapist. Surviving are: Daughter: Mary Kay & husband Thomas Sjostrom; Daughter: Kerry & husband David Thompson; Grandchildren: Brandon & Bradley; Brothers: Robert W. Daniels, William C. & wife Lureta Daniels ; Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Warren P. Boyse, 2 Sisters; Doris Spinney, Mary Lou McGinnis; 2 brothers; James & Ray Daniels. Donations can be made directly or at the funeral home to Genesys Hospice. 

Andrew Anthony "Andy" Ondovcsik Jr.

Of Mt. Morris age 42 died Tuesday January 18, 2000. Funeral services will be 11am Saturday from St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Andy will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call Thursday from 6-9pm and all day Friday. At 7pm Friday his family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home for a Scripture Wake Service. Saturday morning he will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until time of Holy Mass at 11am. Born March 27, 1957 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anthony and Lillian Ramona (Cone) Ondovcsik. He was employed with Delphi in Saginaw (formerly called Saginaw Steering Gear and was transferred there from Fisher Guide Coldwater Road in Flint with 24.5 years service. He was a graduate of Mt. Morris High School and served for several years as a UAW Committeeman while in Flint. Surviving are his parents: Andrew and Ramona; 3 brothers; Gary and wife Karen Connell of Hancock; Randy and wife Judy Connell of Alabama; Michael and wife Linda Ondovcsik of Flushing; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Urban Knerr Jr.

Of Thetford Twp. age 84 died Tuesday January 18, 2000 at Frankenmuth Convalescent Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Miles Martin Funeral Home after 6pm Wednesday and 9-11am 1-4pm 6-8pm Thursday. Born March 17, 1915 in Garmisch, Germany the son of Mr. and Mrs. Urban and Martina (Heincsh) Knerr. He and Goldie Kemp were united in marriage January 22, 1941. Retired 1974 from Chevrolet V-8 engine plant as Grinder, Inspector, and Setupman with 35.5 years service. He farmed during his working years until 1956. Surviving are: wife Goldie; 2 sons: Don Knerr of Clio; Phillip and wife Susan Knerr of Corunna. 5 grandchildren: Robert Knerr; Jennifer and husband Mark Proffer; Cathy Knerr; Jim and wife Jill Knerr; Becki and husband Keith Pillar; 1 great grandchild: Bobbi; sister: Martina Seitz of Hale; 2 sisters-in-law: Veronica Knerr of Clio; Mick Knerr of Mt. Morris; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant daughter Roberta. 

Agnes A. Glowski

Of Mt. Morris. Age 89, died Saturday January 15, 2000 at Hurley Medical Center.Mass of Christian of burial will take place 1:00 pm Wednesday Jan. 19, 2000 at St. Mary Catholic Church , Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home from 5-9 pm Tuesday and on Wed. from10:30am until 12:30 pm at which time family and friends will gather for prayers at the funeral home and then proceed to church for Holy Mass at 1:00 pm. Parish and family will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 8:30 pm to pray the Rosary. Agnes was born October 25, 1910 in Punxsutawney, Pa. She was the daughter of John and Susan (Yatsco) Marzonie. She married Raymond Glowski Oct. 1, 1933. He preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1999. Agnes was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and member of Iota Nu Chapter of Pi Omicron National Sorority of Flint for many years. Agnes and her husband Ray had owned and operated Shores Music Store for over 40 years. Surviving are: Daughter Suzzane Packard of Flushing; Son: Tom and wife Linda Glowski of Otisville; Granddaughter: Darlene and husband Dan Ayotte of Clio, MI.; Great Grandchildren: Daniel Ray and Kristina Ayotte; Granddaughter: Stephanie and husband Kevin Long of Holly; Great Grandchildren : Nathaniel Nicholas Ladaga; Step Great Grandchildren: Kendra and Kevin Long Jr.; Grandson: Matthew and wife Angela Glowski of Grand Blanc; Great Grandchildren: Michael and Andrea Glowski; 1 Brother and 4 Sisters: John Marzonie of Flint; Elizabeth Jackiemiec of Flint; Rita Moore of Topinabee, Mi.; Evelyn and husband Ray Trudell of Flushing; Annette and husband Jim Jones of Jackson. William Gardiner
Age 82, of Mt. Morris Twp., died Thursday January 13, 2000 at McLaren Regional Center. Memorial services will be held 2:00pm Saturday January 22, 2000 at Flint Memorial Park in the chapel. Family will receive friends 1:00pm to 2:00pm at the cemetery chapel. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Presbyterian Church. William was born May 15, 1917 in Scotland. William was a member of the VFW. He belonged to the Shriners-Scottish rites and a member of the Community Presbyterian Church. Survivors include wife: Evelyn (Fox) Lamkey Gardiner of Mt. Morris Twp.; children: William Alen and wife Carolyn of Richland; Richard Scott and wife Delynne of Manistee; Gail and husband Dennis DeBolt of Juneau, Alaska; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother: James Gardiner of Pinconing. He was preceded in death by his first wife Bernita and sister Helen Cole. 

Claude E. Bauman
Died Wed. January 12, 2000 at the Frankenmuth Care Center. Age 85. Funeral service will take place 3:00 pm Saturday January 15, 2000 at the Gilford United Methodist Church with burial in Gilford Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove 12 Noon-9:00 pm on Friday, 9:00 am - 12 Noon on Saturday and then at the church from 2:00 pm until time of service.

Married William Slattery January 3, 1942 he preceded her in death Nov. 14, 1954. She married Michael Corcoran January 11, 1958. He preceded her in death July 3, 1982. Member of Mt. Morris St. Mary Catholic Church, Altar Society, St. Rose Guild, She volunteered with St. Jospeh Hospital Auxiliary, St. Joseph Extended Community. Charter member of Michigan #810 T.O.R.S. Member of Mt. Morris Library Discussion Club. Surviving are 7 of her 8 children: Shannon Lundren; Gary Slattery; Colleen and husband Ward Clark; Carl and wife Kathy Slattery; Kathryn and husband Jery Dickson; Peggy and husband Peter Kronick; Terry Corcoran-Perrin and husband David. Daughter-in-law: Diane Slatery; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Sister Vivian Owens O.C.S.; Rosemary Pontseelo; Regina Drew; Preceded in death by her son Patrick Slattery and her daughter-in-law Virginia Slattery December 16, 1984. Also preceded in death by 4 brothers; Joseph Owen, Milton Owen, Bernard Owen, and Theodore Owen. 

Lavern Donald Bancroft

age 76 of Sand Lake died Tuesday January 11, 2000 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in GraceLawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4-9 Sunday and all day Monday. Born January 2, 1924 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Lee and Mamie (Eckmyer) Bancroft. He and Clara Belle Andersen were united in marriage December 23, 1945. She preceded him in death July 4, 1980. Red retired from City of Flint DPW, and was a fisherman, hunter, and smelt dipper, all of which he thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to each season. Surviving are his 5 children: Julia and husband Frank Stevens of Montrose; Lavern N. and wife Sandy Bancroft of Flint; Jerry Bancroft of Flint; Dennis Bancroft of Flint; Annette and husband Mike Clarren of California; Daughter-in-law: Karen Bancroft; 19 grandchildren; Several great grandchildren; 2 Sisters: Thelma Matthews; Marion and husband Henry Keil; Several nieces and nephews 5 sisters-in-law: Virginia Collins; Dee and husband Dave Chapman; Trinette Powers; Emmy Bancroft; Heidi Andersen; Brother-in-law: Scott Andersen; Special friends: Michael Paul Lasley; Donny Upton. Walter David Officiating. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00am to 1:00pm the time of service. Geraldine was born January 2, 1912 in Gladwin Co., Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Grace (Price) Decker. She and Alexander "Alex" Scigliano were united in marriage September 5, 1935 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death April 2, 1983. She was a business resident of Mt. Morris for many years. Survivors include: 1 sister: Vesta Devereaux of Hope: sever nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Myrtle Hair and parents. 

Willard C. Greenleaf
Age 70, of Vassar, died Monday January 10, 2000 at Covenant Medical Center-Harrison in Saginaw. Mr. Greenleaf was born on Nobember 19, 1929 in Reese, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Myrtle (Rifenburg) Greenleaf. He married Barbara Vande Bunt who preceded him in death September 21, 1999. Willard retired from Universal Engineering Company. Surviving are sons: James and wife Kay Greenleaf of Vassar; Gary Greenlaf of Vassar; daughter: Sharon Warner of Millington; grandchildren: Stacie and husband Ray Shamel; Dustin Greenleaf; Gary Lee Greenleaf; Kristy Greenleaf; Jason Greenleaf; Jimmy Greenleaf; Julie Warner; Jeff and wife Amy Warner; great grandchildren: Sara and Josh Shamel; David Williams; Harley David; Amber Williams; and Jeffery Warner: sister: Doris and husband Frank McAlpine of Fairgrove; brother: Marvin and wife Vera Schian of Reese; Aunt: Delma Achtabowski. James K. Freeman

Age 60, of Mt. Morris, died Sunday January 9, 2000 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Service will take place 12 Noon Wed. January 12, 2000 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, Rev. Morris Rd. 6-9 PM Monday, all day Tuesday and on Wed. from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM at which time family and friends will gather for prayers and then proceed to St. Mary Catholic Church for Holy Mass at 12 Noon. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 7:00 PM Tuesday for a Scripture Service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Jim was born July 30, 1939 in Mt. Morris the son of Bertram and Bessie Freeman. He married Earlene E. Phillpotts Feb. 20, 1964. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at Grand Blanc Fisher Body for 30 years. He is survived by : Wife Earlene of Mt. Morris; 2 Daughters: Lee Ann and husband Carl Sorenson of Mt. Morris; Theresa Hall of Mt. Morris; 3 Grandchildren: Amanda Cook, Kelsey James Sorenson, and Lee Richard Sorenson; Mother: Bessie Freeman of Mt. Morris; He was preceded in death by his father Bertram and 2 Brothers: Jerry and Larry Freeman. The family would like to extend special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Cancer Center and the McLaren ICU Staff. 

Charles Edward Motter

Age 60, of Mt. Morris, died Friday January 7, 2000 at home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Tuesday January 11, 2000 from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Mr. Keith Childerhose officiating with burial at Flint Memorial Park. Friends my call at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-9pm and all day Monday. He was born in Clio on June 3, 1939 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis William and Grace (Lawrence) Motter. He and Lynette Bailey were united in marriage October 6, 1984. He retired US Army having served 22 ½ years and was in Vietnam for 2 tours of duty. Retired 1995 Mt. Morris School system as custodian and bus driver with 17 years of service. Surviving are wife : Lynette; 2 children: David and wife Laura Motter of Columbiaville; Andrea Motter at home; 2 grandchildren: Chaz and Britnee 4 sisters: Jeanne and husband Harold Meinecke of Otisville; Arlene Waters of Millington; Sally Gunther of Clio; Geraldine and husband LaVern Liebengood of Mt. Morris; 2 sister-in-laws: Cody and husband Allan Smith of El Paso; Shirley Motter of Mt. Morris; father and mother-in-law: Tom and Jean Baily of Mission, TX.; Very special friends: Vern and Beth Kettler of Montrose; numerous nieces and nephews including special niece Rebekah Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, son William Edward Motter in 1994, and brother William Motter. Family wishes to extend a special thank you to McLaren Hospice and Denise Loje. 

Everett Freeland

Of Vassar, Age 77, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at home to join his beloved wife of 53 years, whom he had just laid to rest earlier that day. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday Grace Lutheran Church, 885 Saginaw, Vassar Pastor Tim Bender will officiate. Mr. Freeland will remain at Martin Funeral Home-Vassar where friends may call from 3-9pm Friday. Saturday morning he will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until time of service at 11am. Born April 17, 1922 in Mayville, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland and Bessie (Sherman) Freeland. He was a WWII Veteran serving honorably with the US Navy as a Seebee. He was an executive officer during his corporate career in the grocery industry. After retirement, he continued to remain active as a building contractor, real estate agent, a finish carpenter, gardener and avid reader. He was a former board member of the Vassar Public Schools and the Vassar Golf and Country Club. He currently was serving on the Tuscola Township Planning Commission. Surviving are; 5 daughters: Dianne and husband Lou Giordano of New Jersey; Judith and husband Rob Johnson of Clare; Nancy and husband Carl Rybarczky of Edgerton, WI.; Linda and husband David Bewley of Frankenmuth; Lori Freeland of Vassar; 6 grandchildren: Mark Lanway; Brian Eden; Chad Johnson; Lisa Johnson; Brandon Bewley; Brian Bewley; 2 great grandchildren: Jared Lanway; Misha Lanway; Brother: John and wife Sally Freeland of Clarkston Sister: MaryEllen Redick of Flint Numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife, Helen: Sisters, Anne Davis and Winifred Freeland: Brothers, Clarence Freeland and Roland Freeland Jr. 

Pauline M. Lenhart

Of Genesee Twp , Age 3 died Wednesday January 5, 2000 at Hurley Medical Center. There was a private family hour no other services are planned. Cremation has taken place. Memorials can be directed to Ovarian Cancer Research with the American Cancer Society. She was born February 7, 1936 in Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon and Marguerite Rashotte. She Retired in 1998 from Genesys (Formerly Flint Osteopathic Hospital) in Medical Records. Surviving are four children : Lorraine and husband Woods of Melvindale; Joanne Lenhart of Dearborn; John and wife Cheryl Lenhart of Minden, NV.; Paul and wife Karen Lenhart of Swartz Creek; 7 grandchildren; brother: Simon Rashotte and friend Joyce of Swartz Creek; sister : Jennette and husband Richard Worley of Mt. Morris; several nieces and nephews. 

Theresa M. Oppermen
Age 98, formerly of Berkley, Michigan died January 3, 2000 in New Port Richey, Florida. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday January 6, 2000 at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Lake Orion. Friends may call at the funeral home 9:00 am and until the time of service at 11:00 am. Theresa was born in Lake Orion on February 5, 1901 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. and Hattie J. (Young) Glaspie. She was a native of Lake Orion, Michigan. Having moved to Florida from Berkley, Michigan in 1969. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Port Richey. She was a former secretary of Shamrock Hts. Home Owners Association, and a member of the American Society of Woman Accountants. Theresa married Fred Opperman in 1935, he preceded her in death in 1980. She was also was preceded in death by her only child Henry in 1937. Survivors include cousin: Doris Lawrence of FL., and the families of Ronald Opperman and Sinclair Opperman of Vassar. Also Sue and Leo Kuschel of Taylor, Michigan. 

Carl R. Ammerman

Died January 3, 2000 at his home. Funeral services will be held January 7, 2000 at the Mt. Morris First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bob Burkey and Rev. Walter David officiating. Burial at Thetford Cemetery. Carl R. Ammerman will lie in state at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Visitation on Wednesday 6-9pm and Thursday all day from 10:30pm to 9:00pm. On Friday he will be taken to Mt. Morris First United Methodist Church where family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00pm the time of service. Those desiring to make contributions may be made to the Mt. Morris First United Methodist Church or Crossroads Village Friends of the Carousel. Carl R. Ammerman was born on November 24, 1913 in Detroit, Michigan. He moved to Genesee Township on 1920. He married Helen M. Farrington September 29, 1936. He was a member of the Mt. Morris United Methodist Church since 1928. He served on Local District, Conference, Jurisdictional and Genesee Conference Committees of the United Methodist Church. He was Genesee Township Treasurer for 6 years and Supervisor for 16 years. Served on the former Genesee County Board of Supervisors and served on many of it's committees, Charter Member and First President of the Genesee County Parks and Recreation commission, President of the Michigan Township Association 1970 and a Life Member of the Board of Directors, served on the Board of Directors of Genesee-Lapeer American Red Cross, 11 years as a volunteer on the Kearsley , Genesee Rescue Squad and 2 years as President of the Rescue Squad, Driver for 20 years and Volunteer of the Mt Morris City Fire Department, served as Senior Conductor of the Huckleberry Railroad from 1977 to 1991. Also served as a Volunteer at Crossroads Village. He leaves his beloved wife: Helen; beloved daughter: Susanne Dillman and husband Richard; a special grandson: Jon Dillman; 3 sisters: Wilma Harrow of Dayton , TN.;Elise Tirrill of Pinellas Park, FL.; Edith Tussing and husband Edward of Kenneth City, FL.; He was preceded in death by his brother Anson L. Ammerman in 1921; a baby daughter in 1943; mother Lydia Ammerman in 1956; father Roy B. Ammerman in 1958; a beloved granddaughter Janeen F. Dillman in 1994. 

Rockwell "Rocky" Hernandez

Age 46, of Genesee Twp. Died Saturday January 1, 2000 at Hurley Medical Center. Family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home Tuesday from 10:00am to 9:00pm. There will be no funeral services. Cremation will follow visitation with family. He was born August 17, 1953 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jose A. and Irene (Alvarado) Hernandez. He was an active participant in target shooting at Ed's Archery and other competitive events. He retired from Metal Fab as a welder and was a great outdoorsman enjoying all outdoor sports. Surviving are 2 daughters: Tonya and Danielle; grandchildren: Collin and Cameron; mother: Irene; 2 sisters Becky and Priscilla; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Gilbert.
