Of Fenton, Age 74, died May 30, 1999 at Heartland Manor. Funeral Arrangement from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will take place at Lake Fenton United Methodist Church on 2581 N. Longlake Road, Fenton on June 4, 1999 at 7:00 pm. She was born in Hyndman, PA., on December 17, 1924 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Lillie (Pourbough) Smeak. She married James L. Stanley in Grand Blanc on December 17, 1963. Surviving are: Husband: James; Sons: George Cook; William Cook; Bruce Stanley; Mark Stanley; Gregory Stanley; Charles E. Stanley; Daughters: Jesse Clingerman; Debra Robinson; Laura Hoffman; 18 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; Brother: Russel Smeak; Sister-in-law: Viola Bussey; Sister-in-law: Ione Steele. She was preceded in death by her parents, son James Cook, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Donations may be considered to the Alzheimer's Association.

Age 83, of Mt. Morris died Tuesday May 25, 1999 at her home. Funeral services will be 11am Friday from Mt. Morris St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Mrs. Gallagher will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call after 6pm Wednesday and all day Thursday. Thursday evening parish, family, and friends will gather to pray the Rosary at 8pm. Friday morning Mrs. Gallagher will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until time of funeral at 11am. Born February 14, 1916 in Bay County the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis and Margaret Mary (LaFave) McKeon. She and William C. Gallagher were united in marriage May 5, 1934 in Flint. He preceded her in death. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Surviving are 8 of her 10 children: William and wife Norma Thomas of Detroit; Raymond and wife Linda Gallagher of Mt. Morris; Tom Gallagher of Mt. Morris; Lon and wife Cheryl Gallagher of Mayville; Randall and wife Nancy Gallagher of Mt. Morris; Tim and wife Paula Gallagher of Flint; Eva Marie Doyka of Burton; Maureen and husband Robert Schultz of Flint; 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Dennis and wife Vera McKeon of Herbert, Ark.; Frank and wife Denise McKeon of Millington; daughter-in-law: Rita Gallagher of Burton; many nieces and nephews. Age 70, Of Mt. Morris, Went to be with our Lord Jesus on Sunday May 23, 1999. Funeral Service will take place 1:00 PM Wednesday May 26, 1999 at Home Baptist Church with Pastor Don Titus officiating with burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11-2 and 5-9, and at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Assoc. Mr. Melton was born February 25, 1929 in Etowah, Tenn., the son of Raymond and Nora (Mull) Melton. He married Betty J. Cronan on March 24, 1951. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at General Motors for 36 years. A member of UAW Local 326 , he was also a member of Home Baptist Church. He is survived by wife: Betty of Mt. Morris; Son Steven Melton of Flint; Daughter Krista and husband Charles McNeice of Flint; 2 Grandchildren Charity and Heather Akers; 2 Brothers and 3 Sisters: Ben Melton of Minn.; Darrell Melton, Janet Wade, Dot Durham, Judy Chadd all of Tenn.; He was preceded in death by his parents.

Morris on Monday from 6-9pm, Tuesday from 9-9pm and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of Holy Mass at 11:00 AM. Parish and family will gather at the funeral home at 7:00 pm Tuesday night to pray the Rosary. Mrs. Lane was born Feb. 5, 1921 in Hickman, Ky. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Annie (Evans) Lamb. She married Brady Lane October 10, 1936. Christell was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Prior to her retirement she had been employed at General Motors for 25 years. Surviving are: Daughter: Ruth Crang of Clio; and 5 Sons: J.C. (Tom) and Jo Lane of Missouri; Brady and Gail Lane of Lapeer; David and Priscilla Lane of Burton; Larry Lane of Flint; Harold and Jackie Lane of Flushing; 19 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers: Harold Eugene and Sue Lamb; Nolan Lamb; and a Sister Zona Scott all of Mt. Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband Brady and a Brother Raymond Lamb.
Age 67, of Flint, died Friday May 21, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Miles Martin Funeral Home Tuesday May 25, 1999 at 11:00 am.Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 6pm to 9pm, on Monday from 2pm to 9pm, and on Tuesday 9am to time of service at 11:00 am. He was born on January 25, 1932 in Mt. Morris the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie R. and Marie F. (Wall) Eldred. He retired from GM on January 31, 1991. Surviving are : Sister Rita K. Step of Clio; Brother : James R. And Wife Louise Eldred of Oscoda; Niece: Jamie P. Malone; and Nephew: Jason C. Step. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Age 85, formerly of Mt. Morris died Wednesday May 19, 1999 at Holly Convalescent Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Mt.Morris Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9pm Thursday. Born September 14, 1913 in Gainesboro, TN the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frankie and Thina (Brewington) Haney. He and Beverly Jane Thompson were united in marriage March 5, 1946 in Mt. Morris and she preceded him in death January 11, 1991. He was veteran of WWII serving with the US Army. Surviving are his sister-in-law: Bethany Blood of Mt. Morris; Brother-in-law: David Thompson; several nieces and nephews including special great niece Crystal Shuman of Mt. Morris. Margaret was born November 01, 1918 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John G. and Vanetta J. (Wood) Haffner. She married Theodore Pyles in Flint, Michigan September 1, 1945. She retired in 1974 as an office worker from AC Spark Plug with 33 years of service. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church on Clio Road in Flint. Survivors include: Sister: Anita Coolman of Tallman, MI; 4 Nephews: Duane Coolman of Flint; Larry Coolman and June Williamson of Fountain, MI; Leroy Coolman of Mason, MI; Gilbert Coolman of California. She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore in 1984 and brother-in-law, Ben Coolman.

Raymond Urbanek officiating. Cremation has taken place and interment will be scheduled for 1:00pm Thursday May 27, 1999 at New Calvary Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post #822 VFW. Family will be present at church to receive friends from 10am until time of funeral Mass at 11am. Memorials may be directed to American Lung Assoc. Envelopes will be available at church. Mr. Lang worked for Fisher Body for 38 years retiring in 1973 as a supervisor. He was a veteran of WWII and served with U.S. Army Military Police in the European Theater. Peewee was the beloved husband for 58 years of Berniece. Dearest Father of: Michael and wife Sara Lang; Sue and husband Mike Williams; Grandfather of five; Great grandfather of five; Loving brother of Edith Smith; He was preceded in death by brothers, Herman and Richard Lang and by his daughter, Sandy.

Mrs. St. John was born in Genesee January 12, 1921 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Lena (Scott) Hitchcock. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School class of 1937. She married Arville S. St. John in Genesee on May 1, 1946. She was employed by Chevrolet Motor Divison for 20 years retiring in 1983. Bernice was a member of the Genesee Independent Baptist Church, formerly Genesee Bible Protestant Church, and McLaren and Genesee Memorial Hospital Auxiliaries. Surviving are: her son: Curtis St. John and wife Marsha of Genesee; grandchildren: Dana St. John of Fostoria; Melinda and Craig Barley of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; brothers: Jack Hitchcock and Richard Hitchcock both of Genesee; sisters: Betty Hitchcock of Genesee and Mable Powell of Mt. Morris; sister-in-law: Ila St. John of Clearwater, FLA; Ann Drudge of Genesee; brother-in-law: Gilbert Beckley of Mt. Morris; Martin Peterson of Flint; special niece: Gloria Eurich and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents ; husband; sister : Freda Reeser; Phyllis Peterson; Pearl Beckley and brother : Donald Drudge. The family asks that memorials be considered for McLaren Hospice in lieu of flowers and wishes to thank all the staff of McLaren Hospice who cared for Bernice during her illness.

Of Millington, Age 83, died Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City. Mrs. Knowlton was born February 16, 1916 in Birmingham, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Ward. She was married to Charles T. Knowlton Sr. He preceded her in death May 12, 1977. Mrs. Knowlton enjoyed gardening, farm animals and cooking. Surviving are: son: Chuck and wife Mary Ann Knowlton of Gladwin; grandsons: Thomas and wife Lourie Knowlton of Medina, Ohio; Richard and wife Carla Knowlton of Caro; great grandchildren: Charlotte; Christopher; Kelsey and Heather. Funeral services will be held 12:30 pm Friday, May 14, 1999 at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Burial will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Family will receive friends at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar Thursday 7-9pm and Friday 9am until time of funeral service. Age 43, of Mt. Morris died May 8, 1999 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Morris Community Church on Tuesday May 11, 1999 at 11:00 am with Rev. Len Lason officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 6pm to 9pm and on Monday from 12:00 to 9:00pm. He will lay in state on Tuesday from 10:00 am to time of service at 11:00am. He was born on July 10, 1955 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald and Betty Drudge Knickerbocker. He was a member of Mt. Morris Community Church where he served as a past Deacon. He was a computer wiz, all around handy man, and a part time farmer. A majority of his career was as a tool and die maker at Fisher Guide Coldwater Road and he recently transferred to Grand Blanc Metal Fab. He was a man who loved God and his Family very much and showed it in many ways. Surviving are: wife: Kay; Children: Michelle and Craig; Parents: Ronald and Betty Knickerbocker; Grandmother: Dessie Drudge all of Mt. Morris; Sister: Janet and Martin Cousineau of Flushing Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Donald F. Kochalka
Age 70 of Vassar died Wednesday May 5, 1999 at Covenant Medical Care in Harrison after a lengthy illness. He was born January 4, 1929 in Saginaw the son of Lasko and Mary (Dvorski) Kochalka. He married Betty J. Boivin February 29, 1964. Don and Betty owned and operated State Town and Country Realty Co. for 35 years. He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church and its Mens Club. He had been an avid member of the Vassar community for many years and also served in the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his wife Betty of Vassar; Children: Bill Lewis and family of Vassar; Linda and husband Daniel Fowler and family of Fostoria; Ronald and wife Tina Lewis and family of Howard City; Connie Jo Janes and family of Reese; Diane and husband Thomas Kanyok and family of Vassar; Kim and husband Tim Kern of Richville; Also his beloved dog and best friend Toby. 12 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; Beloved friends and Grandparents of their children, Carl and Thelma Graubman of Vassar; Also 1 Brother and 2 Sisters; Robert Kochalka of Bay City; Cathy Mikel and Jane Jeffery both of Pa.; Many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, a brother Joseph Kochalka and a Sister Mary Meyer. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 2:00 P.M. Saturday at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church Rev. Fr. James Carlson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Friday from 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM at which time family and friends will gather for prayer and then to proceed to church for Holy Mass at 2:00 PM. Robert Navarre officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery with Military graveside services by the VFW Post. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home, Vassar, Friday 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Envelopes available at the Funeral Home. Raymond was born December 17, 1919 in Caro, MI. the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Antoinette (Potowski) Baranski. Raymond and Annie Franko were united in marriage on November 24, 1939 in Reese, MI. He was a veteran of WWII serving 1944-1945 with CO 1, 306th Infantry in Okinawa, Shima, Leyte Kerama Rhetto. He received 4 Bronze Battle Stars on his Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon and one on the Phillippine Liberation Ribbon. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal for wounds received on Okinawa May 4, 1945. He and 4 brothers served in the military during WWII. Before military service, he worked for Eaton Foundry as production worker for approximately 6 years. When he returned home from the army he bought a farm where he worked until 1962. Raymond enjoyed flowers, gardening and hunting. Surviving are his wife: Annie; daughters: Janet and husband Ronald Ramsey of Cheboygan; Kathy and husband Paul Fox of Sebring, Florida; daughter-in-law Mary Rummler of Saginaw; grandchildren: Julie Falconer Joliet of IL; Chris Ramsey Seattle of WA.; Lisa Stohr Fairview of OH; Ray Baronski III of East Lansing; Jason and Tom Fox of Sebring, FL; Lt. Michael Fox of Norfolk, VA.; Brothers: Frank Baranski of Caro; John Baranski of Ft.
