Harry Vaughn Orr

Of Flint, Age 74 died February 28, 1999 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be held at Miles Martin Funeral Home at 10:00 Am Wednesday March 3, 1999. Family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Monday, 9-1 PM and 4-9PM Tuesday. He was a Loving Husband and father. He was born on July 10, 1924 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Albert and Pearl Sarah (Harrison) Orr. He and Maxine Staley were united in marriage on November 30, 1946. Congressman Dale Kildee entered Harry and Maxine into the congressional achieves. He was a member of the Local 651, Sgt. of Arms, Genesee Co. SCAN child abuse volunteer, March of Dimes, Special deputy, Member of VFW 4087 Davison, Genesee Co. Senior Winter Olympics committee, board member of Eastside Senior Citizens Center, Sam Duncan Scholarship committee, Honored at Democratic Congressional dinner 1998.Harry was also involved with many campaigns for several public officials and was a strong supporter of many political issue in the state of Michigan and Genesee County. He also devoted much of his time and energy in supporting the development of the Kearsley Daly Villa in Genesee Township. He served on the advisory board for the Kearsley High School Student Learning Center. He worked at Buick 3 years then went to AC spark plug and retired in 1980. Surviving include: Loving wife of 52 years Maxine; Son: Harry and wife Sharon Orr Jr. of Groveport, OH. 2 Brothers: Duwain Orr of Grand Blanc; Everett Orr of Flint; Sister: Wilma Eagleson of Grand Blanc; Many Nieces and Nephews; He leaves many many friends to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents and Brother George Orr in 1989. In Lieu of Flowers Contributions can be made to the Eastside Senior Center. 

Nelson Briggs

Mr. Briggs died Saturday February 27,1999 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tawas. Age 83, he was born May 18, 1915 in Vassar and had resided in the Mayville - Vassar area most of his life. He married Josephine K. Plane November 16, 1934. Prior to his retirement he had been engaged in farming and had also been a milk hauler for many years. He is survived by his wife Josephine; 1 Son and 2 Daughters: Marvin and wife Karen Briggs of National City; Bonnie and husband Stuart Thorton; Diane and husband Raymond TerBush; 14 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers: Wesley Briggs of Millington; Carl Briggs of Houghtan Lake; and Robert Briggs of Flint. He was preceded in death by a Son Garry Briggs, 2 Sisters: Madeline and Ruth, and 4 Brothers: Harold , Raymond, Clark and Ron. Funeral Services will take place on 2:30 P.M Tuesday at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with Pastor Douglas Stockwell will officiate with burial in Tuscola Twp. Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar from 4-9 PM Monday and from 12 noon on Tuesday until time of service. 

Catherine Herline

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother died Friday February 26, 1999 at her home after a lengthy illness. The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Urban and Alvena Craft, she was born February 18, 1930 in Rose City and attended school there. She married O.R."Lucky" Herline September 24, 1948. She was a member of Saginaw Grace Baptist Church. The Vassar Auxiliary Aerie No. 2380 FOE and also the Thumb Area Mud Runners organization for nineteen years. Prior to her retirement in 1984 she had been employed at Fisher Body - Coldwater Plant for 30 years. Catherine love to play bingo and also bowled in two Senior leagues, winning many awards and accumulating many dear friends. She was also devoted to her sons and their spouses: Alan and Marie Herline of Hale; Edward and Renee' Herline of Genesee; Fritz and Terri Herline of Vassar, Also many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Three Brothers: Edward and wife Dene Craft of Mt. Morris; Ronald and wife Shirley Craft of Mt. Morris; Urban and wife Doris Craft of Mancelona; Seven Sisters: Genevieve Nesbit of Lupton; Delores Shore of West Branch; Florence and Jerome Illig of Gladwin; Marlene and husband Jerry Griffor of Hemlock; Evelyn Wiles of West Branch; Barbara and husband Frank Page of Vassar; Sharon and husband Chuck Enos of Whitmore. She was preceded in death by Two brothers George and Albert and a Sister. Funeral services will take place 11:00 AM Tuesday March 2, 1999 at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar with Mr. Ross Reynolds Jr. officiating with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. John J. Binko
Age 86 of Zephyrhills, FL. formerly of Mt. Morris died Friday February 26, 1999. Services will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church 11:30AM Thursday March4,1999, with with Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating with burial in Crestwood Cemetery.Friends may call Miles Martin Funeral Home Wednesday from 1-4PM and from 6-9PM and at the church on Thusday lying in state from 10:00AM until the time of service. Wednesday evening friends, family and the parish will gather at 7:00PM to pray the rosary. Mr. Binko was born January 10, 1913 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Mary (Surada) Binko. He married Mary Klauda January 11, 1947 in Blissfield, Michigan. John was a member of Davison VFW #4087 and had been employed at Buick Motor Co. for 38 years. Mr. Binko is survived by his Wife Mary of Zephyrhills, FL.; Son: John D. and wife Cindy Binko of Swartz Creek; Daughter: Marlene and husband Jim Cowan of Clarkston; three grandchildren: John, Matthew and Kate Binko Preceded in death by 2 sisters Katherine Shifflet and Mary Topic. John Puppan Sr. 

Age 81, of Brighton died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999 at McPhersen Hospital in Howell. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, March 1, 1999 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6340 Roberta, Burton, with Rev. Fr. Denis R. Spitzley officiating. Burial in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may consider memorials for Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Family, friends and Parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary 7 pm Sunday. Family will be present to receive friends at Miles Martin Funeral Home 5 to 9 pm Saturday, and , 12 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm Sunday. Monday morning, family will gather at the funeral home for Prayers 9:15 AM and then proceed to church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Mr. Puppan was born Dec. 24, 1917 in Budapest Hungary, the son of Mr. And Mrs. Lajos and Juliann (Fuktel) Puppan. He and Rozalia Stork were united in marriage April 19, 1942 in Budapest, Hungary. He was retired from Fisher Body Machine Repair. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Brighton. Surviving are his wife: Rozalia; two sons: John Jr. and wife Maria Puppan of Mt. Morris; James and wife Eva Puppan of Brighton; and five grandchildren. 

Adelaide Sarah Parker
of Genesee age 94 died Thursday February 25, 1999 at Nottingham Place in Grand Blanc. Private services and burial have taken place. Born April 27, 1904 in Waterboro, Maine the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Eva (Day) Marble. She and Robert Claire Parker were united in marriage 1928. He preceded her in death August 5, 1996. She attended and graduated from Farmington Normal School and completed her degree work at Columbia University. She taught elementary school in Massachustes for 18 years. Surviving are her daughter: Marion and husband Reg Tidball of Genesee. grandaughter: Chris and husband Scott Niblock of Northville. several nieces and nephews. A sincere thank you to all her caregivers at Nottingham Place for treating her with kindness and dignity. 

Bessie M. King
Age 71, of Mt. Morris went to be with the Lord Tuesday February 23, 1999. Private funeral services have been held. Bessie was born May 20, 1927 in Flint the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Edith Drier. She married Floyd King March 6, 1954. He preceded her in death February 28, 1996. Bessie had worked several years at Kresge and Beecher Schools in the cafeteria. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law: Karen and Charles Watson of Swartz Creek, special caregivers: Connie and Art, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters. A sincere thank you to all her caregivers for their compassion, kindness, and loving care. Arcangelo "Frank" Piazza

Age 88, of Vassar died Tuesday, February 23, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Frank was born August 30, 1910 in Lorenzgo, Italy, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Valentino and Roma (Tremonti) Piazza. He and Marguerite Barnes were united in marriage November 1936. She preceded him in death November 14, 1988. Frank was a member of St. Francis X. Cabrini Catholic Church of Vassar. He was a Charter Member of Knights of Columbus Vassar/Millington Fr. Robert E. Smith Council 7591 and also a Charter Member of Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity 2013 of Caro, 4th Degree. Also a member of Vassar F.O.E. #2380. Frank retired from General Electric in 1975 as a welder in the heat treatment dept. He enjoyed photography, reading, collecting books, and gardening. Left to cherish his memory are 4 children, Ramon and wife Ruth Piazza of Kalamazoo, Anita Haile of Portland, Oregon, Gary and wife Joyce Piazza of Cincinnati, OH and Duane and wife Sandy Piazza of Hamilton, OH; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Ferrer and wife Lula Pizza of Vassar; sister, Claudia and husband Eber Barnes of Vassar; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Renato. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday from St. Francis X. Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar with Fr. Richard T. Szafranski officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 7pm Thursday for a Scripture Service followed by a K. Of C. 4th Degree Memorial Service under the direction of Holy Trinity Council 2013. Family will received friends at Martin Funeral Home in Vassar 5-9pm Wednesday and 9am - 9pm Thursday. Friday morning, Mr. Piazza will be taken to church where friends may call 10am until of Holy Mass at 11am. Naomi V. Roache
Age 72, of Benzonia, Michigan formerly of Mt. Morris died February 22, 1999 at her residence. Funeral Services will be held 7:00 PM, Thursday February 25, 1999 at the Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Churchhill, Tenn. Burial at Morning Star Cemetery on Friday with Rev. David Phipps officiating. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 PM. Mrs. Roache was born May 26, 1927 in Churchhill, Tenn. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Minnie (Lee) Sandiage. She married Ray Roache July 4, 1947 in Gate City, VA. Survivors include husband Ray Roache; son: Jim Roache of Mt. Morris; daughter Jill and husband Walt Hicks of Mt. Morris; Cathy and husband Dave Clark of Flushing; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters: Bessy and Ruth of Churchhill, Tenn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society. 

Otis Harvey Tremain Jr.
Age 70, of Mt. Morris died Saturday February 20, 1999 at home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 pm Monday, Family will be present to receive friends Tuesday 9am to 2pm and 4pm - 9pm and Wednesday 9am to time of service. Born in Mt. Morris, Michigan March 18, 1928 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis and Lula (Wheelock) Tremain. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy. He was a member of the Traverse City Eagles and member of UAW Local 326 and retired from Fisher Body Coldwater Road with 35 years of service. He was an ALL STATE athlete, he liked hunting and fishing. Surviving are his children: Zeno and wife Teresa Tremain of Clio; Michael and wife Mary Tremain of Grand Ledge; Dawn Wildman of Mt. Morris; Joseph Tremain of Mt. Morris; Dominic and wife Catherine of Flushing; John and wife Stacy of Alger; 2 brothers: Harold Tremain of Mt. Pleasant; Kenny Tremain of Alabama; 1 sister: Dorothy Knoll of Flint; 20 grand children: 5 great grandchild. Preceded in death by both parents and brother Donald and sister in law Carol. 

George William Simons
Age 75, of Mt.Morris, died Saturday February 20, 1999 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be held at Miles Martin Funeral Home Tuesday February 23, 1999 at 2:45PM with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive visitors on Monday from 6-9pm and Tuesday from 9am until time of service at 3:00 PM. He was born February 17, 1924 in Ishpeming, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Evelyan (Vic) Simons. He was a member of Buick Local 599 and Retired in 1989. He liked to travel and vacation in Arizona and California. He married Jean Simons in 1947 and they were united for 51 years. He was a good father and husband. Surviving are wife: Jean Simons of Mt. Morris; Sons: Wayne Simons of Mt. Morris; Robert Simons of Clio; Rodney Simons of Marquette; 6 grandchildren with one is serviving in the Marines in Japan and 1 great grandson. 

Mildred Irene Keller
Age 85, of Mt. Morris died February 20, 1999 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 23, 1999 at 1:00 PM at Miles Martin Funeral Homes with Pastor Bob Burkey officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will received visitors on Monday from 6-9:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 Am until time of service at 1:00PM. She was born on December 28, 1913 in Indiana, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henery and Lucy (Jones) Meyer. She was a homemaker, cub scout den mother, member of the United Methodist Church for 46 years. She is survived by Son: William and wife Beulah of Grayling; Brother: Henery Meyer of Decatur, IN.; Sisters: Mary Biddle of Kingsland, IN.; Bertha Mae Strahm of Bluffton, IN.; Brother-in-laws: Roscoe Lydy of Bluffton, IN.; Glen Fiechter of Tocsin, IN.; 3 grandchildren: John Keller; Renita Looze; Kimberlee Sumner; 3 great grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by Husband Elmer H. Keller, sisters Ann Lydy; Libby Fiechter. 

Robert Eugene LaRoche "Candy Man"
Age 76 of Mt. Morris. Died Thursday February 18, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will take place 1:00 PM Monday Feb. 22, 1999 at St. Mark Lutheran Church 5073 Daly Dr., Rev. Gary Beck officiating with burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home 2-4 and 6-9 PM Saturday and Sunday and at the church on Monday from 12 Noon until time of service at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church. Robert was born Sept. 30, 1922 in Flint the son of Henry & Gladys (Currier) LaRoche. He married Catherine M. Tribelhorn May 18, 1946 He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church . He served in the US Navy during WWII and retired from Buick Motor Co. in 1980. Survived by his wife Catherine; 1 Daughter Robin and husband; Timothy Parker of Bozrah, Conn.; 1 Grandson: Timothy Robert Parker; 1 Sister: Suzanne Moore of Apache Junction, Arizona; 1 Brother: Richard LaRoche of Sterling Heights, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John L. Hollar

Born in Independence Kansas September 19, 1920 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Miles and Gertrude Hollar. He and Marian L. Gage were united in marriage October 13, 1951. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army and was part of the First Occupational Forces in Berlin. He was a member of 2 senior bowling leagues at Towne and Country on Miller Road. Member of UAW Local 598 and retired from Truck and Bus March 1985 as an inspector with 30 years service. Surviving are his wife: Marian; 3 daughters: Patricia and husband Dan Loga of Grand Blanc; Jonna and husband Greg Francis of Lapeer; Sandra and husband Jeff Gorton of Clio; Grandchildren: Jonathon Loga of Beaumont TX; Kimberly Loga of Grand Blanc; Jennifer Francis of Lapeer; Rochelle Francis of Lapeer; Jeremy Francis of Lapeer; Ryan Gorton of Clio; Kelsey Gorton of Clio; brother: Jim Hollar of Omaha, Neb.; Several nieces and nephews. Adelaide Harriet Shenkel

Age 96 of Mt. Morris died Friday February 12, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Cntr. Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday from First Baptist Church corner of Walter & Louisa Streets in Mt. Morris. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Shenkel will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call after 6pm Sunday and all day Monday. Tuesday morning Mrs. Shenkel will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until time of services at 11am. Memorials may be directed to her church or Child Evangelism. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Born in Genesee Twp. July 15, 1902 the 4th child of 7 children to Mr. and Mrs. Rawson and Mabel (Russell) Wager. She and John W. Shenkel were united in marriage on June 7, 1923, he preceded her in death October 12, 1970. She attended and graduated from Baker Business College and had been employed as a stenographer. Mrs. Shenkel was a member of Mt. Morris First Baptist Church were she served as a deaconess. She joined at age 11 and been a member for 85 years. She served her church 24 years as the dining room chairperson, she taught girls Bible class, and she and her sister were in charge of the nursery for many years. Surviving are her daughter: Mabel and husband Willard Pinney of Mt. Morris; Son-in-law: Kenneth and wife Eleanor Morey of Mt. Morris; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren; sister: Sabra Culver of Clio; Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son John 1987, daughter Florence Morey April 15, 1974, 2 brothers; Russell and Howard, 3 sisters: Mary Ella Draper, Louise Wager, and Nellie Rogers. 

Alfred Edward Belanger

Age 76 of Clarkston formerly of Mt. Morris died Friday February 12, 1999 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday from Mt. Morris St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Belanger will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call after 6pm Saturday and all day Sunday 5pm Sunday evening family, friends, and parish will gather to pray the Rosary. On Monday morning Mr. Belanger will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until time of services at 11am. Memorials may be considered for American Lung Assoc., or St. Mary Church. Mrs. Martin enjoyed crocheting, knitting, bird watching, playing card and crossword puzzles. Left to cherish her memory husband: Edward: 2 daughters: Paula and husband Yax of Deford; and Alberta Martin of Caro; 1 son: Albert Martin of Vassar; 5 brothers: Vince and wife Jean Stedry of Caseville; Frank Stedry Jr. of Chesaning; Lee and wife Leora Stedry of Vassar; Don and wife Dar Stedry of Vassar; and Art Stedry of Vassar; 1 sister: Wanda and husband Wes Martin of Vassar; 3 grandchildren: Michelle Yax II; Michael Yax; and Liberty Rhodes; Stepmother: Theresa Stedry; stepsister: Ruth and husband Pat Hart all of Grayling. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Stedry in 1959, Father, Frank Stedry Sr. in 1995, stepbrother, Jack Lambert in 1998, sister-in-law, Leola Stedry in 1998, and sister Ruth in 1939. 

Joseph John Dupont
Of Fairgrove, age 54, died Monday , February 8, 1999 at St. Lukes Hospital in Saginaw. Mr Dupont was born November 15, 1944 in Chicago the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred and Bonnie (DeGrand) Dupont. He was a veteran of the US Army serving 1962- 1965. Mr. Dupont had been employed at Anlaan Corporation Construction and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 324 for 30 years. He enjoyed boating, fishing and golf. Surviving are: 2 sons: Joseph John Dupont Jr. of Vassar and Jeffery John Dupont of Millington; 4 brothers and 1 sister all of Escanaba; significant other: Kay Francis of Fairgrove; mother of his children: Theresa Miller of Montrose. He was preceded in death by 1 brother. A graveside committal service will be held 10:00 Am Monday, February 15, 1999 at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove with Fairgrove VFW Post 7486 officiating. 

Martha Lou Clark

Age 63, Of Mt. Morris died Saturday February 5, 1999 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral service will take place 4:00 PM Wednesday February 10, 1999 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Walter David to officiate. The family will receive friends 10:00 am Wednesday until time of service. Martha was born May 19, 1935 in Clio Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Ila (Hankey) McQueen . She was a devoted mother and care giver. She also enjoyed traveling and camping. Martha is survived by a four children: Merle Castle of CA; Debra Higgins of Flint; David Castle of Mt. Morris; Paul and Judy Castle of Flint; Candice Clark of Flint; several grand children and great grand children. She was preceded in by Randall Castle and Jerome Reed. 

Bill C. Baird
Of Fairgrove, age 77 died Wednesday February 3, 1999 at Bay Shores Medical Facility. Mr. Baird was born July 12, 1921 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Maggie (Kinney) Baird. Mr. Baird was retired from Baker Perkins in Saginaw with 20 years service. Surviving are 4 daughters: JoAnn and husband Kirk VanWormer of Vassar; Marilyn and husband David McKay of Vassar; Bonnie and husband Steve Grainger of Frankenmuth; Diane Suppes of Ionia; 11 grandchildren: Troy and wife Natalie VanWormer of Rochester Hills; Terry and wife Shane VanWormer of Santa Barbara, CA; Tobey VanWormer of San Diego, CA; Trent VanWormer of Vassar; Trisha VanWormer of Vassar; Todd and wife Tammy MacKay of Millington; Mike and wife Brenda MacKay of Vassar; Jill Grainger of San Jose, CA; Jeff Grainger of Miami FL; Dustin Suppes of Ionia; Darcy Suppes of Ionia; 10 great grandchildren: Auston VanWormer; Naverjon VanWormer; Brittany Jo VanWormer; Alexis MacKay; Hilary MacKay; Tanner MacKay; Bailey MacKay; Brandon MacKay; Logan MacKay; Jordan MacKay; Several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, grandson Derek Suppes. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday at Martin Funeral Home - Fairgrove with Rev. Mr. Walter David officiating. Burial of cremated remains in Brookside cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 10am Saturday until time of services at 12 noon. In lieu of floral offerings donations may be considered for a family intentions fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. 

Mary J. Mullally

Age 93, Of Mt. Morris passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 1 999 at her home. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, February 5, 1999 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery the family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home 6-9 PM Wednesday, 9-9 Thursday and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of Holy Mass at 11:00 AM. Parish and family will gather at the funeral home at 7:00 PM Thursday to pray the Rosary. Mary was born May 12, 1905. She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Elizabeth (Wolohan) Vermette, both long time residents of Mt. Morris where Joseph was a blacksmith and Elizabeth was a teacher. Mary lost her father to pneumonia at the age of two. She went to Mt. Morris schools until her senior year when she traveled to St. Michael's in Flint. Mary attended the County Normal College in Flint and Ypsilanti to get her teaching certificate. On August 22, 1928, Mary married John P. Mullally at St. Mary's. Mary taught school until the first child of ten arrived. After moving to the farm in 1941 from 580 Walker St., she was a secretary in the insurance business until John's retirement. Mary was nurtured in her final years by her two daughters, Sister Ellen and Sister Agnes Mullally , both of the Order of St. Joseph Sisters. They were aided in this task by Sister Marcella Deneau and Sister Ann Catherine Steffes. Mary was very active in church affairs at St. Mary's for many years. She belonged to several guilds, the Legion of Mary, the Charismatic Prayer Group, and the Altar Society. She was a tireless worker and was a source of cordiality and support to all. She considered everyone as part of her extended family. She made herself dearly loved for her charitable work and kindly ways. She was always a great friend to her neighbors in times of distress and the memory of her kind deeds will live long with many people. Socially, Mary was of a genial disposition, and made friends of all. Surviving are: daughters: Mary and husband Richard Poletti, Alice and husband John Manning, Sister Ellen Mullally S.S.J, and Sister Agnes Mullally S.S.J. Sons: Michael and wife Mary Ellen, Joseph and wife Sharon, and Thomas and wife Carol. There are 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John, and three children: Kathleen, James and John. 

Laura Patridge
Age 92, of Burton formerly of Vassar, died Tuesday, February 2, 1999 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 5, 1999 at Martin Funearl Home in Vassar with Dr. Rick Flanders officiating. Burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Family will recieve friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar 6-9pm Wednesday, 9am - 9pm Thursday and 9am until time of funeral on Friday. Mrs. Partridge was born on July 9, 1906 in Yale, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Emma (Pettingill) Reed. She and Paul L. Partridge were united in Marriage in 1929. He preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs. Partridge loved to make quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved working in her Flower garden. Surviving are 4 sons and 1 daughter: Eldon and wife Ann Partridge of Illinois; Wesley Partridge of Vassar; James Partridge of Burton; Bruce and wife Penny Partridge; Marjorie Harper of Vassar; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

Age 73, Of Clio died Monday February 1, 1999 at Memorial Health Care in Owosso. Funeral service will take place 11:00 AM Thursday February 4, 1999 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Harrison. The family will receive friends 9-9 Wednesday and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service. Donna was born November 14, 1925 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. and Maude B. (Hayes) Norman. She married John L. New January 27, 1969. He preceded her in death September 1, 1974. Prior to her retirement she had been employed at Fisher Body for 17 years. She is survived by a daughter: Kathryn V. and husband Morris Goldberg of Adrian, Micigan; Grandchild: Tanner Heit of Flint; 3 Brothers and a Sister: Henry C. and wife Jeanette Norman of Millersville, Md.; Elva E. and husband Gerritt Cook of Flushing; Perry E. and wife Barbara Norman of Sun City, Arizona; Russell D. and wife Frances Norman of Hot Springs, Ark.; A Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Joseph Sentes of Sun City Arizona; Margaret Norman of Lakeland, Fla. She also leaves a Special Friend and care giver, Eunice Morgan of Clio. She was preceded in death by a son William H. Britt , Brothers Melvin and Wayne Norman and Sister Kathryn Sentes.

Age 37, Of Mt. Morris died Saturday January 30, 1999 as result of an automobile accident. Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday from Miles Martin Funeral with burial in Flint Memorial Park. Memorials may be considered for a family fund in lieu of flowers, envelopes are available at the funeral home. Born August 21, 1961 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester F. and Betty (Tracy) Ford. He married Spears February 14, 1994. Surviving are his wife Peggy; 3 Daughters: Amy Bancroft; Angela Bancroft; and Autumn Bancroft all of Mt. Morris; 2 Grandchildren: Sierra Duty and Anthony Duty Jr.; Parents: Lester F. and Betty Ford of Mt. Morris; 2 Sisters and 1 Brother: Sandra and husband Harold Lee of Clio; Richard Ford of Mt. Morris; Amber Yorks of Mt. Morris; Frances Ford of Mt. Morris; Several nieces and nephews.
