Swartz Creek. Funeral services will be 11am Monday from St. Mary Catholic
Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Ellen will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call
2-9pm Sunday. Sunday evening the family and parish will gather to pray
the Rosary at 7pm. Monday morning Ellen will be taken to church to lie
instate from 10am until time of funeral Mass at 11am. Born April 2, 1913
in Auburn the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Mary Ellen (Brownell) Came.
She retired from McLaren Hospital Post partum as a Registered Nurse. She
also had worked 16 years with Visiting Nurse Association and 9 years with
St. Joseph Hospital. She also performed private duty nursing.
Surviving are her 3 sisters: Bernadine Fisher of Mt. Morris; Marcella
Came of Mt. Morris; and Mary Gauthier of Rochester Hills. Numerous nieces

Robert Howard Asbury 1966 - 1998 Of Clio age 31 died Friday April 24,
1998 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 11:00Am. Tuesday

1991. She preceded him in death April 30, 1996.

Of Mt. Morris age 92 died Thursday April 23, 1998 at Montrose Nursing

Home. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Born August 2, 1905 in Cadillac the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Lydia (Fewless) Root. She and Ernest
L. Sweet were united in marriage in Lapeer August 20, 1924. He preceded
her in death Dec. 18, 1975. Surviving are her 3 children: Frieda and husband
Charles Johnson of Davison; Lillian and husband Joseph Thompson of Mt.
Morris; George and wife Betty Sweet of Flint. 12 Grandchildren, numerous
great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and

Raymond E. "Buck" O'Toole
of Mt. Morris, age 85, died Wednesday, April 22, 1998 at McLaren Regional
Medical center. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday at St.
Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial
at Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Miles Martin Funeral

lie in state from 11:00 am until time of funeral at 12 noon. Buck was born
April 14, 1913 in Mt.Morris the son of Mr. and Mrs. David and Glennie (Mills)
O'Toole. He and Gabrielle (Gabe) Hoornaert were united in marriage on May
2, 1942 at Sacred Heart Church in Birch Run. Buck farmed all his life plus
worked at General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He worked his
farm up to the day he died, doing what he loved best. He will be sadly
missed by his family and friends.

Jewell Isabelle Knickerbocker
age 69, of Genesee, died Tuesday April 21, 1998 at her home. Funeral

Member of the Auto City Eagles Auxiliary #3485. Jewell was greatly loved
and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

united in marriage September 26, 1992. Member and Trustee of Fraternal

Moose Chapter #1619 Port Charlotte, FL. Family employed McDermitt's Bakery
with approximately 30 years service. She and Lourie enjoyed dancing throughout
the Flint area and while wintering in Florida. Joyce was also a good singer.

Zerda Lucille Woodbury

Sadie (Ferris) Ritter. She and Morey W. Woodbury were united in marriage
April 27, 1941. She enjoyed playing Bingo throughout the flint area. Mrs.
Woodbury retired from AC Spark Plug division in Bench Inspection.
Surviving are: husband: Morey; son: James Ritter of Mt. Morris; 12
grandchildren,; 30 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.; Sister:
Ida Smith of Florida; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her parents, 2 grandchildren; Maureen Ritter whom she raised until her
death, and Daniel Ritter, 5 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Virginia "Billie" Bird-Azelton
Age 77, went home to our lord Saturday April 18, 1998 due to a long
illness. She was born October 31, 1920 in Buford, South Carolina, to Grace
and Joseph Bird. She married Charles Wm.(Bill) Azelton on April 5, 1941.
They had Three children, Charles (Biff), Joseph and Sandra. She lived in
the Flint-Mt. Morris area all her life. She was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed reading and had a collection
of 500+ books which she would often read over and over. She and her husband
Bill enjoyed camping, playing cards, square dancing and church. She was
always there with a helping hand as was Bill. She was preceded in death
by her infant son Joseph, Grandson Karl and husband of 51 years, Bill in
March of 1992. Also by 3 sisters; Shirley, Dot, Peggy and 1 brother Walter.
Surviving are son: Charles (Biff) and wife Bonnie Azelton of Mt. Morris.
Daughter: Sandy Powell of Flint. Sisters: Betty Perrin of Flint; Patsy
and husband Glenn Stearns of Mt. Morris. Grandchildren: Karla and husband
John Steiner of California; Roger and wife Crystal Chandler of Mt. Morris;
Randy and wife Tanya Azelton of Flint; Angel and husband Joe Gordon of
Fife Lake. Great-Grandchildren: Jermemy, Shelby and Chelsea Steiner; Samantha

Edith Mildred "Hogan" DuFault
Age 88, of Jacksonville Fla. Formerly of Mt. Morris, died Thursday,
April 16, 1998. Funeral services will be 10:00am. Monday at Hewell Funeral
Home, in Jacksonville, Fla. Family will receive friends at the chapel 6-8pm.

Memorial Park Cemetery section C. Born March 11, 1910 in Paragould, AR.
And resided in Mt. Morris until moving to Jacksonville, eight years ago.
She retired after 45 years of service with K-Mart Department Stores. She
also sold war bonds during WWII. She was preceded in death by her loving
husbands, Elwood T. Hogan 1971 and Leonard J. DuFault 1982. Surviving are:
niece who was raised as Edith's daughter, Roseanne and husband Sinclair
Lewis of Jacksonville; 3 great-nephews, Mike and wife Leanne Small of Jacksonville,
Christopher and wife Christina Small of Grand Forks, ND; 2 great-nieces
and a great-nephew, Alexandria Small, Tristen Small and Harley Small. She
was preceded in death by her parents and loving husbands.
Kenneth Lee Burrows
of Vassar Township, age 65, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998 at St. Mary
Hospital in Saginaw. Born March 4, 1933 in Lapeer the son of Mr. and Mrs.
George and Alice Burrows. He and Ruth Fulsher were united in marriage on
December 6, 1985 in Bay City. Mr. Burrows retired from Universal Engineering
in Frankenmuth in 1987 for the shipping department after 38 years of service.
He enjoyed watching baseball and going to the movies.

Gerald D. "Bud" Martin
of Vassar, age 63, died Friday, April 10, 1998 at Caro Community Hospital.
Mr. Martin was born June 23, 1934 the son of Mr. & Mrs. Walter W. And
Mamie(Hunter) Martin. He and Judy DePotty were united in marraige June
29, 1957 in Tuscola. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with
the US Marine Corps Infantry in Korea. A member of Davison VFW Post 4087
and formerly Vassar VFW Post. Mr. Martin retired from Super Food Service
in Bridgeport. He worked as a delivery truck driver since 1968 and was
a member of Teamsters Local #337.
Surviving are wife Judy; 5 sons, Terry Lee and wife Kathy Martin of
Caro, Bryan Martin of Vassar, Bradley and wife Rita Martin of Vassar, Glen
Martin of Vassar and Jeremy James Martin of Vassar; 4 grandchildren, Julie,

19, 1994. She was a life member of Genesee Chapter #457 OES, and was a
longtime member of Genesee United Methodist church. Formerly she taught
piano lessons for many years in Genesee. Surviving are her son: Orin Bobb
and his special friend Elaine. Her grandchildren: Mark of Flint and Darcia
and husband Eric of Grand Blanc her brother: Lloyd and wife Mary Lou Brown
