She was a life member and past president of the West End House Boys and Girls Club Auxiliary, choreographer and director of Mollie Leppo and the Rockettes who performed at many senior citizens facilities over the years, and she was an accomplished speaker for various social and charitable association events. Mollie was loved and respected by all.

M. Pauline ‘‘Polly’’ (Towig) Hatch, 86, of Yarmouthport and formerly of Foxboro died Monday at the Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center in South Dennis. She was the wife of Lewis N. Hatch, to whom she had been married for 63 years.
Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Wellesley High School and the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital School as a registered nurse in 1935.
Mrs. Hatch worked for many area hospitals, but eventually settled into a long-term position as operating room supervisor at the former Pondville Hospital in Norfolk.
After her marriage in 1937, she and her husband relocated to Foxboro. She was an active member at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and served as a Cub Scout den mother for many years.
Upon her retirement in 1974, she first moved to Brewster and then in 1982 to Spring Hill, Fla., before finally relocating to Yarmouthport in 1994.
She enjoyed golfing and bowling.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Lewis N. Hatch Jr. of Wrentham and Henry I. Hatch of Milford; a daughter, Paula Louise Murphy of Yarmouthport; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at St. Mark’s Church, 116 South St. Arrangements are by the Hallett Funeral Home, South Yarmouth.

Catherine Crossley 

Catherine M. Crossley, 71, died Sunday at home. She was the wife of Harold Crossley.
Born in William Penn, Pa. On Jan. 31, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Edward Armstrong and Mary (O’Rourke) Armstrong and had lived in Foxboro for the past 40 years.
Mrs. Crossley had worked as a licensed practical nurse at the VWF Parkway Nursing Home in West Roxbury. She also worked in real estate management and sales in the Foxboro area with her husband.
A 1947 graduate of Frackville (Pa.) High School and Dean Junior College in Franklin, she received her LPN diploma from the former Goddard Hospital in Stoughton.
She was an active volunteer with senior citizens, hospital patients and the mentally handicapped.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Thomas Crossley of Attleboro and Rodney and Bradley Sassaman, both of Franklin; three brothers, Edward Armstrong of Fort Wayne, Ind., John Armstrong of Harrisburg, Pa. and Joseph Armstrong of Wellsville, Pa.; two sisters, Sarah Roy of Alexandria, Va. and Nora Brown of Augusta, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
Calling hours were scheduled for today (Feb. 1) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St. A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church, Carpenter Street. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Mary A. Sexton

Mary A. (Gallant) Sexton, 94, of Wrentham died Jan. 24 at home. She was the wife of the late John T. Sexton.
Born in Boston, where she was raised and educated, she had lived in Wrentham since 1950, and was formerly of Foxboro and West Roxbury. A homemaker, Mrs. Sexton was a volunteer and caretaker at St. Jude’s Rectory in Norfolk.
She is survived by a son, John T. Sexton Jr. of Pensecola, Fla.; two daughters, Mary A. Dinneen of Dedham and Evelyn J. Gasster of Torrance, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Joseph P. Keating Funeral Home, 21 Market St., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Wrentham. Burial was at Wrentham Centre Cemetery

Jane M. Fuller

Jane M. Fuller, 82, of Lewiston, Maine died Jan. 24 at St. Marguerite’s Pavilion. She was the wife of the late Howard Fuller.
Born in Fort Edward, N.Y. on Aug. 21, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Jason and Dorothy Sweet and had lived in Maine for the past 15 years.
Educated in Mansfield schools, Mrs. Fuller had worked at the former Lord Fox restaurant on Route 1 in Foxboro, and later as a dietitian at Exeter Hospital in Exeter, N.H. before retiring 18 years ago.
She was a member of the former East Mansfield Methodist Church, and a charter member of the FMCA.
She is survived by two sons, John Fuller of Maine and Roger Fuller of California; a daughter, Margaret Fiske of Mansfield; two sisters, Betty Doyle and Phyllis Cleveland, both of New York; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in Kingston, N.H. at a later date. Arrangements were by the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, Mansfield.  Published Feb. 5, 2001.

Elizabeth O'Brien 

Elizabeth L. O’Brien, 88, of Sharon died last Saturday at the Copley at Stoughton rest home in Stoughton. She was the widow of John W. O’Brien.
Born in Boston on Dec. 9, 1912, she was the daughter of the late John F. Lamken and Helen (Deignan) Lamken, and had lived in Foxboro for 30 years before moving to Sharon two years ago.
Mrs. O’Brien was a secretary at the former Foxboro State Hospital, retiring in 1976. A graduate of Boston schools, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters in Dorchester.
She is survived by two sons, John F. O’Brien of Sharon and Edward J. O’Brien of Plymouth; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held Tuesday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Sharon. Burial was at Calvalry Cemetery, Boston. Arrangements were by the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St.  Published Feb. 5, 2001.

Charles DeVirgilio

Charles Arthur ‘‘Boo Boo’’ DeVirgilio Sr., 69, died last Saturday. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Capozzi) DeVirgilio.
Born in Boston on June 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Ciriaco DeVirgilio and Mary (Cataldo) DiVirgilio, and had lived in Foxboro for the past 21 years. 
Mr. DeVirgilio was a chief engineer at Bird & Sons in Walpole, retiring recently because of illness after 35 years with the firm.
He had attended Boston Trade School and was a 1955 graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology.
He served in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by three sons, Charles Arthur DeVirgilio Jr. of Wilmington, Richard Michael DeVirgilio of Middleton and Michael Anthony DeVirgilio of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Caroline Leonard of Lakeville; two granddaughters and a grandson.
A funeral Mass was held Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, East Walpole. Burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Roslindale. Arrangements were by the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St.

Florice Madden 

Florice Madden, 77, of Norwood and formerly of Foxboro died March 22. She was the wife of the late Joseph T. Madden.
Born in Foxboro on June 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Julia M. (Kinne) Tarment and John H. Tarment and had lived in Norwood for 35 years.
In her varied career, Mrs. Madden was a teacher at Wrentham High School, was an executive secretary at Arthur D. Little Inc. in Cambridge, and operated Westwood Jewelers with her husband.
After raising her children, she returned to work as a librarian at the Factory Mutual technical information center in Norwood, retiring in 1988.
She was a 1939 graduate of Foxboro High School, attended Framingham Teacher’s College, and graduated from Boston University with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 1944-45. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
She enjoyed traveling, and had visited Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph T. Madden Jr. of Wayland and Neil T. Madden of Elk Grove Villiage, Ind.; a daughter, Lianne M. Madden of Norwood; and give grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Holden, Dinnirvine and Lawler Funeral Home, Westwood. Burial was at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.

Christian Johnsen 

Christian Frederick Johnsen, 86, of North Conway, N.H. and formerly of Foxboro died March 19 at Memorial Hospital in North Conway. He was the husband of the late Barbara Johnsen.
Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Capt. Peder and Christiana Johnsen, and had lived in Foxboro for 47 years before moving to New Hampshire in 1997.
Mr. Johnsen was a research design engineer for The Foxboro Company, and held several patents. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an excellent mechanic.
Having spent boyhood summers aboard ship with his family on the eastern seaboard, he was strongly committed to reclamation of the marine environment, and had volunteered for many years as an educator at the New England Aquarium and with Friends of Boston Harbor.
He also enjoyed traveling, music and camping.
He is survived by three daughters, Christine Hastedt of Freeport, Maine, Susan Johnsen of Hartford, Maine and Gale Johnsen of Porter, Maine. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

W. William Spencer

W. William Spencer, 80, of Marstons Mills and formerly of Foxboro died Saturday at Cape Cod Hospital’s extended care community pavilion in Hyannis. He was the husband of Geraldine E. (Kuplast) Spencer, to whom he had been married for 60 years.
Born in Foxboro, he was a 1938 graduate of Foxboro High School and a graduate of Basic Engineering School in Gulfport, Miss.
Mr. Spencer was a machinist and toolmaker at The Foxboro Company for 32 years before retiring. He had lived in Mansfield for 40 years before retiring to Marstons Mills in 1986. Previously, he had summered for 34 years at a beach cottage on Buttermilk Bay in Bourne.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Custer, which deployed Marines to the island of Kyusha, Japan in anticipation of a Japanese invasion.
An avid gardener, he enjoyed both fishing and boating.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Gayle P. Crisp of Dennisport; a sister, Eunice Strang of Wrentham; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Gerald W. Spencer and Carolyn J. Andrews, and brother of the late Carroll Spencer.
A memorial service was scheduled for 1 p.m. today (March 29) at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, Route 28, Marstons Mills. Burial will be at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Robert M. Mancini

Robert Michael Mancini, 41, of Providence died last Saturday at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence.
Born in Boston on Oct. 5, 1959, he was a son of Edith (Egizio) Mancini of South Attleboro and the late Alfred Mancini.
Mr. Mancini was executive chef at the Larosa Restaurant in Pawtucket and had also worked at many restaurants in the Providence area.
A graduate of North Attleboro High School, he had served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had lived in Providence the past four years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Robert M. Mancini Jr. of Bellingham; two sisters, Jeanne Brennan of Norton and Janet Mancini Thomas of Attleboro; a brother, Michael Mancini of Providence; and his stepfather, Robert Fortier of South Attleboro.
He was the brother of the late Stephen A. Mancini.
Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. today (March 29) at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, South Street, the Rev. L. Richard Schulhaus, pastor of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, officiating. Burial was to have been at Exeter Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, R.I.
