MABEL M. CARKIN OF TYNGSBORO
Mrs. Mabel Margaret "Porter" Carkin passed away at the Lowell General
Hospital on Oct.7th, 2000.
She was married to the late Clarence "Ben" Carkin who passed away May
3rd, 1974.
Born in Boston on May 28, 1916, the daughter of the late Ralph and
Adeline (Sabean) Porter. She was a graduate of North Quincy High School
with the class of 1934.She was employed with Tyngsboro School System as
a School Lunch Director until her retirement in 1988.
She was a member and Deaconess at the Tyngsboro Evangelical Congregational
Church.
She was a Life Member of the Order of Eastern Star, Puritan Chapter
# 54 in Lowell, MA., a 50 year member and past Master and had held all
the Chairs in the Groton Grange, she served as Chaplain for the VFW Auxiliary
Post 10333, a member of the Middlesex Women's Club, Mabel was well known
for her planning and running of town and church youth groups for many years
in Tyngsboro, she was also the Co-Director of Serve Of Tyngsboro.
She is survived by a son Ralph Carkin of New Mexico, a daughter and
son-in-law Linda and Thomas Murray of Tyngsboro, a brother and two sisters-in-law
Robert and Thelma Porter of Tyngsboro, Sharlee J. Porter of Tyngsboro,
six grandchildren Dr. Julie L. Carkin of Seattle, WA, Thomas Murray Jr.
and his fiancée Jessie Moulton both of Tyngsboro, Katharine and
Ronald Dion of Nashua, Christopher Given of Lowell, Christine and Brian
Smith of Tyngsboro, Ruth and Curtis Rice of Demming, NM, five great-grandchildren
Matthew and Shelby Murray of Tyngsboro, Adriana Dion of Nashua, Abaigeal
Molinari of Tyngsboro, Simon Smith of Tyngsboro, Joshua Rice of Demming,
NM, and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Kenneth Porter who passed away Feb.

Mr. Richard J. Conway age 41 of Chelmsford, MA. and Rye Beach, NH.,
died Oct. 9, 2000 at the Portsmouth Hospital in Portsmouth, NH.
Born in Lowell, MA. on Dec. 21, 1958, the son of Richard and Beverly
(Bissonnette) Conway of Westford, MA., and Rye Beach, NH. He was a graduate
of Chelmsford High School with the class of 1977, he also attended Mt.
Wachusett College.
He was employed over the years at Wang Labs. in Lowell, and with his
father at Conway Chevrolet-Buick-GEO, Inc. Auto Dealers in Pepperell, MA.
At the time of his death he worked with the Harbor Homes in Nashua, NH.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Chelmsford, MA.
He enjoyed his time at Rye Beach with his parents, and hiking in the
White Mountains with his friends.
Besides his mother and father he is survived by a sister and her husband
Laurie and Kenneth Tarpey, and a brother and his partner Michael Conway
and J.Paul Lobkovich, and his niece and nephew Caroline and Conor Tarpey
all of McLean, VA., He is also survived by his grandparents, Henry and

Mrs. Rena M. (Rondeau) Ayotte of Chelmsford, MA. died October 10, 2000,
at her home.
She was married to the late Mr. Harry E. Ayotte who died Apr. 30, 1978.
Born in Lowell, MA. on July 2, 1914, the daughter of the late J.Arthur
and Lillian (LaPan) Rondeau. She was educated in the Lowell School System.
She started working at the age of 13 at the Comb Company making combs
and brushes. She worked as a stitcher for many years with the Suffolk Knitting
Mills and the Nu-Knit Manufacturing Co. both in Lowell, MA.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law Lorraine and Jack
Higgins of Merrimack, NH, and Carol Grady of North Chelmsford, MA, two
sons and their wives Harry J. and Jacquelyn (Rodrigue) Ayotte of North
Chelmsford, MA, and Ronald and Betty (Cresswell) Ayotte of DeSoto, MO.,

Mr. George Harold Ayotte of Haines City, FL formerly of Lowell, MA
died on October 29, 2000, in Goffstown, NH.
He was married to Mrs. Rita (Gaudette) Ayotte with whom he celebrated
their 37th wedding anniversary on May 5, 2000.
Born in Lowell, MA on June 21, 1925, he was the son of the late William
G. Ayotte and Marie (Jalbert) Ayotte. He attended the Lowell Vocational
School.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II on the cruiser USS
Vincennes.
He lived most of his life in Lowell and Litchfield, NH and summered
in Westford, MA.
He was a foreman for Suffolk Knitting and Joan Fabric both of Lowell,
until his retirement in 1990.
He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church of Haines City, FL and St.
Jeanne D'Arc Church of Lowell, MA.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He served with the U.S. Army after World War II in the occupation of
Japan.
He owned and operated the Colonial Barber Shop in Dracut, MA.
He was a musician and played the Drums & Piano, and was a member
of the North Shore Musician Association and played with the Joe Baldwin
Band. He attended numerous musical functions in Salem, and Newburyport,
MA. He was also a member of the American Legion.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
He is survived by a long time companion Constance Peredina of Westford

Lowell where a was an asst. manager, Franco American Orphanage, and managed
the A.& L. Turcotte Liquor Store, all in Lowell, MA, and retired in
1986 from the J.P. O'Connor Hardware Store in Billerica, MA.
He was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Lowell, MA
where he was a member of the parish Holy Name Society, and was the treasurer
of the parish Boy Scout Troop # 26, and also was a member of the church's
St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters Michele and her husband
Leonard Rapone of Chelmsford, MA., Suzanne M. Fournier and a close family

Mr. Paul A. Fortin of N. Chelmsford died Oct. 28, 2000, at Saints Memorial
Medical Center in Lowell.
He was married to Mrs. Della (Oditt) Fortin with whom he celebrated
their 40th wedding anniversary on May 12, 2000.
Born in Chelmsford, MA on October 8, 1927, the son of the late Joseph
and Marie A. (Lacombe) Fortin. He was a graduate of Chelmsford High School.
He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a Bachelor's degree
in engineering.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was employed with C.G. Sargents Company in Westford as an engineer.
He owned operated Interstate Battery System of Merrimack Valley until his
retirement in 1993.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of N. Chelmsford.
He was a past member of Vesper Country Club in Tyngsboro, and Nabnassett
Country Club in Westford. He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars,
Arthur F. Bartlett Post # 10333 in Tyngsboro.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son Jerry W. and his wife Clarisa
Mullins of Agoura Hills, CA, two daughters Mrs. Phil (Janet) McMartin of
Niles, MI and Jacqueline McAndrew of Nashua, NH, a brother Arthur Fortin
of Daytona Beach, FL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10
great grandchildren.
He was the brother of the lates Leo Fortin and Lucille Letourneau.

FLORA I. UPTON OF GROTON AND DUNSTABLE
Mrs. Flora I. (Brown) Upton of Groton, and Dunstable died Oct. 30,
2000 at the Life Care Center in Littleton, MA.
She was married to the late Myron Earl Upton who died on Jan. 31, 1989.
Born in Lowell, MA. on March 20, 1909, the daughter of the late William
Clarence and Lora (Hall) Brown. She was educated in the Lowell School System.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, and was a
Past Vice Prefect of the Holy Rosary Sodality at the church.
She served in the past as a Board Member for the Greater Lowell League
of Catholic Woman, also in the past she was a member of the Dunstable Senior
Citizens Club, Past Master of the Tyngsboro Grange, and was very active
in Scouting for many years.
Earlier in her life she was a reporter for the Lowell Sun in Dunstable.
She is survived by a daughter Lorretta Bissell of Treasure Island,
Fl., and two sons Kenneth Earl and his wife Janet Upton of West Townsend,
MA, and Brian John and his wife Dee Upton of Nashua, NH., and seven grandchildren
and 12 great grandchildren, three sisters Ethel Watson of Clinton, MA.,
Elsie Reed of West Groton, MA., and Delma Collamore of Clinton, MA.
She was the sister of the late Helen Watson of Groton, MA., Prosper
Brown of Waltham, MA.
