Mrs. Margaret G. (Hurley) Cryan of Ormond Beach, FL,
formerly of Tyngsboro died March 9, 1999 at the Memorial Hospital
in Ormond Beach, FL.
She was married to the late Mr. Francis D. Cryan who died
April 12, 1981. 
Born in Boston, on May 29, 1911, the daughter of the late
John J. and Margaret (Conley) Hurley. She was a graduate of the
Academy of Notre Dame, Roxbury, MA with the class of 1929.
Mrs. Cryan was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist
Church of North Chelmsford, and the Prince of Peace Church in
Ormond Beach, FL.
Mrs. Cryan was an avid artist and loved to travel.
She is survived by two sons, John F. Cryan of Golden, CO,
and Michael D. Cryan of Lantana, FL, three daughters, Patricia A.
Cryan of Ormond Beach, FL, Helen M. Anctil of Wilmington, DE, and
Anne M. and her husband Bill McDevitt of Lantana, FL, a sister,
Helen P. Hurley of Holly Hill, FL, four grandchildren, Kari
Cryan, Eric Cryan, Melissa K. Anctil, and Francis D. Anctil, and
many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Vangie V. (Hopkins) Roberts of Tyngsboro, died March
9, 1999 at the Lowell General Hospital.
She was married to Mr. Paul C. Roberts who died February
20, 1993. 
Born in Lowell, on December 2, 1910, the daughter of the
late Irving and Mary (Silva) Hopkins. She was a graduate of
Rockland High School, Rockland, Maine.
Mrs. Roberts was employed as a machine operator with the
Abbott Worsted Mills, Forge Village, then with the Boott Mills in
Lowell until retirement.
She was a member of the Tyngsboro Evangelical Congregational
Church in Tyngsboro.
Mrs Roberts was a member of the Tyngsboro Senior Citizens
Club.
Her survivors include one son, William Roberts of Tyngsboro,
one daughter and son in law Marjorie Ann and her husband Roland
Hodge of Biddeford, Maine, one brother and his wife, Frank and
Lucille Hopkins of Montpelier, Vermont, two sisters, Dorothy
Pratt of Montpelier, Vermont, Nettie Kopacze of Westford, four
grandchildren, Mrs. William (Mary) McAnstin of Tyngsboro, James
F. Roberts of Windham, NH, Donna L. Carlson of Ft. Wayne,
Indiana, Bruce Vincent of York, Maine, two great grandchildren,
Mrs. Steven A. (Maryann) Landry and Kerry McAnstin both of
Tyngsboro, one great-greatgrandson Steven W. Landry of Tyngsboro,
and a niece, Mrs. Armand Gelineau of Dale City, VA.
Mrs. Roberts was the mother of the late Theodore Roberts of
Lowell,and sister of the late George and Timothy Hopkins,and
Emily Broughton.

BRIAN HENEBRY OF CHELMSFORD
Mr. Brian Henebry of Chelmsford, died March 13,1999 at the
Wentworth Nursing Home.
Born in Waltham, on August 14,1955, the son of the late
William Henebry,and Helen (Clark) Henebry of Florida. In
addition to his mother he is survived by two brothers and three
sisters as well as many friends in Chelmsford and Lowell. 
Mr. Henebry was a communicant of St John the Evangelist
Church of North Chelmsford.
He was an avid camper who also enjoyed swimming and travel.
Mr. Henebry was employed at the Goodwill Industries in
Lowell.

EDITH M. SCOTT RETIRED BOOKKEEPER
Mrs. Edith M. (Gomes) Scott of Alton Bay, NH, formerly of
Bedford, MA, died March 19, 1999 at the Lakes Region General
Hospital in Laconia, NH.
She was married to Mr. Robert L. Scott with whom she
would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on July 26. 
Born in Lowell, MA, the daughter of the late John and
Estelle (White) Gomes. She was a graduate of Cambridge High &
Latin School with the class of 1940.
Over the years she was employed with Rowe Chevrolet in
Lexington, MA, and was the bookkeeper with the Digital Marine
Corp. in Acton, MA, from where she retired in 1985.
She and her husband lived in Bedford, MA, for about 40
years, and summered in Alton Bay, NH, for many years until moving
there two years ago. She was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc
Church of Alton Bay, N.H. 
She was a member and President of the Woman's Guild at the
St. Joan of Arc Church, and was a member of the Alton Bay Senior
Citizens.
Besides her husband she is survived by a son Robert L. Scott
Jr. of Acton, MA, two sisters Mrs. Olive Looney of Chelmsford,
MA, and Mrs. Isabel Freitas of Rochester, N.Y., two
sister-in-laws, Mrs. Ruth Heath of CA, & Mrs. Dorothy Makepeace
of KN, a brother-in-law Joseph Scott of Chicgo, IL, and several
nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Mrs. Geraldine Zimmer of
Bedford, MA, Manuel Gomes of Long Island, NY, Louis Gomes of
Cambridge, MA, Joseph Gomes of NY, NY, & Frank Gomes of Marlboro,
MA.

JOHN T. NEVILLE OF CHELMSFORD
Mr. John T. Neville of Chelmsford, died March 23, 1999 at
the Lowell General Hospital.
He was married to Mrs. Doris M. Mullen with whom he would
have celebrated their 43rd anniversary on Dec. 24. 
Born in Staten Island, NY, on Nov. 24, 1921, the son of the
late Thomas and Sarah (Loughrey) Neville. He was a graduate of
Curtis High School in Staten Island, NY, with the Class of 1939.
Mr. Neville, a decorated Veteran, served with the U.S. Army,
during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam for a total
of 20 years of service attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Neville was employed with the Raytheon Corporation in
South Lowell, Bedford, Andover and Wayland until his retirement in
1987.
Mr. Neville was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist
Church of North Chelmsford.
Mr. Neville was a member of the Chelmsford Senior Citizens
Club, the Chelmsford Senior Center, the American Legion in
Tyngsboro, the V.F.W. in Tyngsboro, and the Retired Armed Forces
Association. 
Besides his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-
law, Brian and Linda Lis of Chelmsford, three daughters and two
sons-in-law, Sharon DeSisto of Chelmsford, Sheila and Normand
Tanguay of Lowell, and Michaela and James Whitman of Chelmsford,
two sisters, Winifred Samples, and Mrs. Brownie (Ellen)
Karasinski both of Staten Island, NY, nine grandchildren,
Jennifer and her husband James Fay of Lowell, Stephanie, Matthew,
and Christine Lis all of Chelmsford, Kelly and Regan DeSisto of
Chelmsford, Kevin Gerrish of Lowell, and Jamie and Joseph Whitman

IVY M. SHUGRUE, R.N. OF NASHUA, NH
Mrs. Ivy M. (Rourke) Shugrue, R.N. of Nashua, NH, formerly
of Lowell, and North Chelmsford, died March 24, 1999 at the St.
Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, NH.
She was married 40 years to the late Mr. Frederick E. Shugrue, Sr. who died June 22, 1972.
Born in Lowell, on March 22, 1908, the daughter of the late
William H. and Anna (Mansfield) Rourke. She was the niece of the
late Jennie Rourke who raised her. She was a graduate of St.
Patrick's Grammar School in Lowell, the Academy of Notre Dame
with the class of 1927, and with the Medfield State Hospital and
Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1931, where she
graduated Valedictorian.
Mrs. Shugrue was employed with the Metropolitan State
Hospital in Boston, the Boston City Hospital, the Medfield State
Hospital, and with the Tewksbury State Hospital, where she was
Head Nurse of the Male Surgical Ward, retiring in 1970 after 20
years of service.
Mrs. Shugrue was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist
Church of North Chelmsford.
Mrs. Shugrue was a member of the Retired State & County
Municipal Employees Association of Massachusetts, and the Eastern
Massachusetts Bus Drivers Wives Auxiliary.
Mrs Shugrue is survived by two daughters, Mary Lorraine Smith of Lowell, and Anne S. Harvey of Nashua, NH, with whom she made her home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Carol (Hilton) Shugrue of Ft.Lauderdale, FL, and Frederick E. and Lorretta (Sutton) Shugrue, Jr. of Loudon, NH, a sister, Olive Bird of Norwalk, OH, eight grandchildren, Karin F. Harvey of
Nashua, NH, Richard J. Smith, Jr. of Springfield, Anne Marie
Smith, William H. Smith of Lowell, Ellen M. Altobello of Salem,
NH, Paul E. Smith of Lowell, Catherine "Katie" E. Smith of
Lowell, and Elizabeth A. Shugrue of Loudon, NH, twelve
great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, among them
is Sharon Brunelle of Worcester. 
Mrs. Shugrue was the sister of the late Charles Stone of
Blandford, MA, Winifred "Dot" Hale of Worcester, Beryl Liberty of
Meriden, CT, and Jean Harrison of Holden, and mother-in-law of
the late Richard J. Smith of Lowell, and Frank L. Harvey of
Nashua, NH.

WINIFRED MCLAUGHLIN, LPN OF LOWELL
Miss Winifred McLaughlin, LPN of Lowell, died March 31, 1999
at the Wentworth Nursing Home in Lowell.
Born in Nashua, NH, on October 19, 1902, the daughter of the
late Philip and Delia (Moran) McLaughlin. She was a graduate of
Nashua High School with the class of 1920, and the Framingham
Union Hospital School of Nursing.
She was employed as a private duty nurse in the Boston area,
and lived on Commonwealth Ave. in Alston, Ma. until moving to
Lowell over 20 years ago where she lived at the Father Norton
Building.
She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church of
Lowell.
She is survived by two nieces, Kathryn McLaughlin and her
husband John Lemek, and Ann McDonough all of Lowell, three
nephews, Stephen and his wife Patricia McLaughlin who was also
her Godson, and Robert E. and his wife Linda McLaughlin both of
Dracut, and David P. and his wife Joyce McLaughlin of Chelmsford,
and two cousins Katherine McLaughlin of Nashua, NH, and Patrick
J. and his wife Helen McLaughlin who was also a godson, of
Andover, Ma.
She was the sister of the late Philip McLaughlin of Nashua,
Robert McLaughlin of Lowell, Sr. Sheila (Eleanor McLaughlin) of
the Sisters of Mercy, and Hazel McLaughlin of Lowell.

PAUL F. WESTWOOD, JR. OF WESTFORD
Mr. Paul F. Westwood, Jr. of Westford, died April 3, 1999, at
the Lowell General. 
He was married to the late Mrs. Claire E. (Davidson)
Westwood who died March 31, 1991. 
Born in Tewksbury, on January 3, 1915, the son of the late
Paul F. and Lena (Bostwick) Westwood, Sr. He was educated in
Nebraska.
Mr. Westwood was employed with the Southwell Combing Company
for 47 years retiring in 1980, after his retirement, he worked
for Picken Printing. In his earlier years, he was a Volunteer
Fireman for the Town of Chelmsford.
Mr. Westwood was a member of the North Chelmsford
Congregational Church, where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday
School Teacher. He was Charter President of the Westford Lions
Club in 1965 and was currently a member. After his retirement,
he enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Westwood is survived by two daughters, Patricia Marchand
of Westford, and Paula Webb of Rockledge, FL, a son, Chandler
Westwwod of Plainfield, NH, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-
grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was the father of the late Jacqueline Grevelle of
Dunstable, who died in 1966.

HELEN M. INGRAM FORMER WESTFORD RESIDENT
Mrs. Helen M. (Sheehy) Ingram of Lowell, died April 3, 1999
at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Lowell, Ma.
She was married to the late Francis H. Ingram who died on
Sept. 10, 1987. 
Born in New York City, N.Y.,the daughter of the late Michael
& Miriam ( Hill) Sheehy. She was educated in the Ansonia, CT.
school system and also attended Our Lady of the Assumption School
in Ansonia, CT.
Most of her married life she lived in Southbury, CT. in the
community of Lakeside, and in 1980 she movd to Amsbury, MA., and
in 1988 she moved to Westford, MA. While living in Westford, 
she was a teacher's aide in the Westford school system from 1989
to 1992.
In her early years, she was employed as a supervisor at
Fabric Fire Hose Co. in Sandyhills, CT.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in
North Chelmsford, MA.
She is survived by a son Francis Ingram of Westford, MA.,
and three grandchildren Mary Ingram & Sarah Ingram, both of
Westford, & Sharyn Ingram of Chicago, ILL.

Mrs. Elizabeth M. (Breen) Emerson of North Chelmsford
died April 5, 1999 at the Saints Memorial Medical Center in
Lowell, MA.
She was married to Mr. John P. Emerson, Sr. with whom she celebrated their 63rd anniversary on Jan. 19, 1999. 
Born in Lowell, MA, on Nov. 26, 1916, the daughter of the late Rose Breen. She attended the Butler Elementary School & Lowell High School.
In her early years she was employed with the Suffolk Knitting Co. in Lowell just after World War II, and then was a housewife from then on.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
She was a life long member of the Democratic Party.
She was a poet, avid reader, and humorist.
Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter and her husband Ellen F. Emerson-Bates, and Jack Bates of Townsend, MA, three sons George R. "Packey" Emerson of Tyngsboro, John and his wife Margaret (Minion) Emerson, Jr. of Chelmsford, and Dennis M. and his wife Marilyn (Slater) Emerson of Merrimack, NH, a sister Mrs. Gladys Shanley of Needham, MA, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and their families, 12 nieces and 12 nephews.
She was the mother of the late Charles T. Emerson of Lowell, MA, who died in 1978.

15,1999.

the late Chester and Gertrude (Bolton) Price. She was a graduate
of Lexington High School with the class of 1943.
Mrs. Donovan was a communicant of St John the Evangelist
Church of Chelmsford.

HAROLD SMITHSON OF LOWELL
Mr. Harold Smithson of Lowell, MA. died April 19, 1999 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.
He was married to Mrs. Edna (Gill) Smithson with whom he would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on April 21,1999. 
Born in Birstall, Yorkshire, England on Feb. 21, 1923, the son of the late John and Lily (Clarkson) Smithson. He was educated in the Birstall, Yorkshire, England school system. 
During World War II he served with the British Royal Navy. 
He came to the U.S. on June 10, 1966 and was employed most of his working life in the Texile Industry with the Mariner Combing Co. in Lawrence, MA., and for about 20 years he was employed with the Pellon Corp. in Lowell, MA. retiring in 1987, as a production manager. 
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Ann and Ernest F. Jenkins Jr. of Westford, MA., and a sister-in- law Florence (Bouynton) Smithson of England, and two grandchildren John B. and his wife Pamela (Donovan) Jenkins of Tyngsboro, MA., and Ernest F. Jenkins III of Austin, TX. 
He was the brother of the late Doris Sanderson, Mabel
Coates, Fred Smithson, Jack Smithson, and Eric Smithson all of England.

FLORENCE A. LUSSIER 
LONG TIME RESIDENT NORTH CHELMSFORD
Mrs. Florence A. (Guilbeault) Lussier of NORTH Chelmsford, died April 21, 1999 at the Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell.
She was married for over 64 years to the late Mr. Valmore Lussier who died on June 6, 1998. 
Born in Lowell, on June 30, 1915, the daughter of the late John & Dora (Paquette) Guilbeault. She attended the Lowell School System.
Mrs. Lussier was a resident of North Chelmsford since 1946, and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
Mrs. Lussier was very loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by fours sons, and four daughters-in-law, Donald and Jeannine (Sawyer) Lussier of N. Chelmsford, William and Bonnie (Mills) Lussier of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Paul Lussier of Derry, NH, Richard and Darlene (Soucier) Lussier of N. Chelmsford, and Mrs. Edmund (Patricia) (Gagnon) Lussier of Dracut, five daughters and four sons-in-law, Lucille and Donald Halko of Dracut, Aline and Armand LaRoche of Havasu, AZ, Rachel and Henry Desrocher of Salem, NH, Dora and Robert Pintal of Dracut, and Dianne Sullivan of Pepperell, a sister, Jeannette Malo of Lowell, a brother Albert Guilbeault of Lowell, 31 Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Edmond Lussier of Dracut, and the sister of the late Raymond Guilbeault, Fleurette Guilbeault, & Laurette Courier, all of Lowell.

ATTORNEY AT LAW
Attorney John O. Woods of Fairfax, VA, formerly of Milton,
MA., and Westford, MA. died April 23, 1999 at the Fairfax
Hospital in Falls Church, VA.
He was married to the late Mrs. Alice M. (Cody) Woods who
died Oct. 14, 1981 after their 47th wedding anniversary Sept. 1. 
Born in Boston, on Jan. 1, 1905, the son of the late Peter
and Bridget (Murphy) Woods. He was a graduate of Boston College
High School, and Northeastern University Law School.
He owned his own Law Firm in Boston for many years before
his retirement. 
For over 30 years of his life, he lived in Milton, MA, four
years in Westford, MA, and for the past fourteen years, he has
lived in Fairfax, VA.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Hills Church in
Milton, MA, St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford,
and St.Ambrose's Church in Faifax, VA.
He was a past member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.
He is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Alice
M. and John Flynn of Andover, MA, Ellen and Charles A. Laughton
of North Chelmsford, MA, and Jeanne and J. RIchard Collins of
Fairfax, VA, eight grandchildren, Judith and her husband David
Beningson, and Christopher Laughton all of Westford, MA,
Elizabeth Flynn of NY., NY., William Flynn of Andover, MA, Carrie
Laughton and Cindy Laughton both of North Chelmsford, MA, and Jay
Collins and Katharyn Collins both of Fairfax Station, VA, and one
great-grandson, Nathan Beningson of Westford, MA., and a brother
James G. Woods of Milton, MA.
He was the brother of the late Alice M. Gannon of New
Seabury, MA.
