Ruth Ann (Judge) Jones of Chelmsford, MA, died Sept. 5, 2001, at her home.
Born in Tewksbury, MA on Nov. 5, 1929, the daughter of the late Edward and Sadie (Penney) Judge. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1947, and she also furthered her education in accounting.
She was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Navy.
Over the years she was employed with a dress manufacturing company in Lowell, MA, and as a clerk for Frost Drug Store in North Chelmsford, MA, Korzak Pharmacy, and she also managed the Brooks Pharmacy, and worked at the Sea Food Connection all in Lowell, MA.
She is survived by a son Bradford and his wife Lori (Meier) Jones of North Chelmsford, MA, a brother Edward and his wife Helen Judge of Chelmsford, MA, two grandsons Derek and Kenneth Jones both of North Chelmsford, MA, and among her close friends are Sylvia Safstorm, and Sally Gauthier both of Lowell, MA.

CHARLES P. SMITH
OF HARVARD
On September 3, 2001, Mr. Charles P. Smith of Harvard, Massachusetts died of metastatic colon cancer at the Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Having served three years in the U.S. Army as a communications specialist during W.W. II and being honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1946, Mr. Smith elected to attend Pasadena Nazarene College where he graduated with a B.S. in physics.
A dynamic and very well liked individual, Mr. Smith (who went on to pursue a career at the Naval Weapons Center located in China Lake, CA.) became our nation's recognized expert in guided missiles, optical lasers, and infrared technology to present and potential military requirements. He is responsible for developing both the Sidewinder missile and Maverick missile programs. Furthermore, he received the highest Medal of Honor: the L.T.D. Thompson Award.
In 1978, Mr. Smith resigned his position as Assistant Technical Director for Development (Weapons Systems) and head of the Naval Weapons Center's Systems Development Department to pursue a career as a weapon's analyst with the Raytheon Company of Bedford, Massachusetts.
During his retirement years, Mr. Smith enjoyed repairing televisions, radios, microwaves, and stereos. In addition, he enjoyed gardening and maintaining his fruit orchard consisting of apples, plums, peaches, cherries, and grapes. He baked the best apple pies and made his own jam as well!
Mr. Smith attended Lowell's First Church of the Nazarene, where he served as the church treasurer. He was known for his love and steadfast faith in God and demonstrated his sacrificial giving of his time, talents, and resources to his family, church, and community.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 5, 1924, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Mr. Fred Smith and Mrs. Jennie (Pilkington) Smith. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Theora B. (Wickstrom) Smith with whom he celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on May 28, 2001.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his son and his wife, John M. and Diane (Hawkes) Smith of Pepperell, MA, his daughter and her husband, Bonnie M. and James Silva of Lowell, MA, and his daughter Shirley J. Smith of Harvard, MA, and two precious grandsons, John Smith Jr. and Nicholas Smith, both of Pepperell, MA.

ANTONIO L. VALENTE
OF LOWELL
Mr. Antonio L. Valente of Lowell, MA died September 8, 2001 at his home after a yearlong battle with leukemia.
He was married to Mrs. Maria I. (Caires) Valente with whom he had celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 29, 2001.
Born in Madeira Island, Portugal on October 29, 1933, the son of the late Mr. Noe Nobrega Valente and Mrs. Ludevina (Teixeira Neves) Valente. He was educated in the Portugal school system and in the 1950ís; he proudly served in the Portugal military.
Before he came to the United States in the 1970's he was a police officer for 20 years with the Portugal Police, and then he was employed with the Prince Spaghetti Company in Lowell, MA, as a machine operator for 27 years. He was an avid sports fan and an especially big fan of soccer with Sporting being his favorite team. He enjoyed Portuguese music, the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and loved playing with his dog Cocoa.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church of Lowell, MA, and was a member of the Portuguese-American Center of Lowell.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Joe M. and Bernardete (Brinquinho) Valente of Lowell, Lucio J. "Louie" and Lucinda M. (Martins) Valente of Chelmsford, Cesar and Lucinda (Teixeira) Valente of Lowell, and Neil P. and Linda J. (Pitocchelli) Valente of Salem, NH two daughters, Fatima Leite and her companion Dale McGuire of Manchester, NH, and Ana and Robert Allen of Kingston, NH, nine grandchildren, Susan and Stephanie Valente of Lowell, Michelle and Ryan Valente Chelmsford, Matthew and Krystal Leite of Manchester, NH, Stacey and Bobby Allen of Kingston, NH, and Felicia Valente of Lowell, Two sister-in-laws, Mary DeCaires of Chelmsford and Isabel Caires of Lowell, three brother-in-laws, Raymondo and his wife Maria Jose Caires, Claudio and his wife Clara Caires and Jorge and his wife Adelina Caires all of whom are from Lowell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Theresa Valente of Madeira Island, Portugal, Maria and Jose Marcelo Valente of Venezuela. He was the son-in-law of the late Manuel and Isabel Caires. He was the brother-in-law of the late Cesar DeCaires, Joseph, Americo, Celestino, and Manuel Caires.

Mrs. JoAnne L. (Potter) Burton of Hudson, NH died Sept. 8, 2001 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Tyngsboro, MA.
She was married to Mr. Paul K. Burton with whom she celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary on May 26.
Born in Lowell, MA on May 13, 1955, the daughter of Joan L. (Rubin) (Potter) Freeman of Hudson, NH, and the late Francis R. Potter who died in 1988.
She was a graduate of Nashua High School and received her Associates Degree in Finance from NH Vocational Technical College in Nashua, NH.
She was employed with Compaq Computer as a Senior Manager in Andover. Earlier she was employed with, NH Tobacco Wholesale Warehouse in Nashua, and Digital Equipment Co., in Merrimack.
She was a devoted family member who enjoyed motorcycles, photography, and travel.

Mr. James F. Johnson of Lowell, MA. died Sept. 13, 2001 in Hudson, NH.
He was married to Dawn (Therrien) Johnson.
Born in Lowell, MA on May 18, 1962, the son Virginia (McCann) Johnson of Lowell, MA, and the late Edmund J. Johnson. He was a graduate of Greater Lowell Vocational High School with the class of 1982.
At the present time he was employed with 128 Iron Works in Tewksbury, MA, and Roadside Welding Co., in Groton, MA, and in the past he worked for Scannell Boiler Works in Lowell, MA, and the Middlesex Materials Corp. in Littleton, MA.
He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell, MA.
In his earlier years he enjoyed playing flag football with the Lowell Flag Football League with the Gus and Paul Team.

Mr. John P. "Jack" Frawley Jr. of Lowell, MA, died Sept. 14,2001 in Lowell, MA.
He is survived by his wife Georgia (Kesmetis) Frawley with whom he celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on June 30th.
Born in Lowell, MA on Dec. 28, 1921, the son of the late John P. and Josephine (Slatery) Frawley.
He served with the U.S. Marines during World War II with the 4th Division and fought in the battle of Saipan where he was awarded the Purple Heart in June of 1944.
He retired from the Raytheon Corp., in Bedford, MA in 1991, and had also been employed for several years at Offset Printing Co. in Lowell, MA.
Jack was a resident of Lowell, MA, Falmouth, MA, and Marco Island, Fl.
Besides his wife he is survived by four children Daniel J. and Arlene (Schubert) Frawley of Shorewood, MN, David M. and Beth (Edman) Frawley of Lowell, MA, Julianne Frawley of Cambridge, MA, and Sheila and her husband William Miller of Nashua, NH. Margaret E. (Powell) Gray of Tyngsboro, MA died Sept. 15, 2001 at home.
Born in Augusta, GA, on Oct. 2, 1943, the daughter of Artemus Powell of Augusta, GA, and the late Margaret (Howell) Powell. She was a graduate of Glynn Academy with the class of 1962 in Brunswick, GA.
She served with the U.S. Marines during Vietnam War.
She was employed for over 22 years with the Tyngsboro School System, as a cafeteria worked at the High School Cafeteria until sickness forced her retirement in May of 2001, and over the years she was employed with Jacoppi's Restaurant in Tyngsboro MA, Stuart's Dept. Store in Nashua, NH, and Piconics Corp. in Tyngsboro, MA.
Besides her father. she is survived by a daughter Laura Lee and her husband Steven Hardy of Hudson, NH., and two sons Michael A. Over the years she was employed with Sears and Roebuck's in Brookline, MA, the Budd Optical Co. and The Marine Optical Co. from where she retired in 1987 both companies are located in Boston, MA.

Mrs. Karen Ann (Flanders) Craig of Hudson, NH, formerly of Tyngsboro, MA died Sept. 22, 2001 at the Lowell General Hospital.
She was married to Mr. Robert Craig with whom she would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on Nov. 12th.
Born in Lowell, MA, the daughter of Mrs. Marion R. (Gannon) Flanders of Tyngsboro, MA and the late Elmer W. Flanders who died on Mar. 21, 1985. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1962.
Over the years she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant with Northwood Nursing Home and St. Joseph's Hospital in Lowell, MA, and most recently the Fairview and Laural Place in Hudson, NH.
She was a member of bowling leagues at the Brunswick Bowling Alley's in Lowell, MA, and she enjoyed camping with her family.

He was married to the late Cecile (Milot) Fleury who died in 1990, and the late Ethel C. (Leslie) Fleury who died in 1953.
He was educated in the Lowell School System.
He was employed with Fletcher's Quarry in Westford as a stonecutter and formerly a machine operator in the Market Mills in Lowell.
He was a member of the H. E. Fletcher Social & Athletic Club in Westford.
He is survived by three sons, and their wives, Richard E. and Diane (Malenfant) Fleury Jr., of Springhill, FL, Thomas E and Natalie (DeCosta) Fleury of Lowell and Robert R. Fleury and his friend Mary of Merrimack, NH, five daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth A. and Norman St. Onge of Westford, Louise A. and Henry E. Bellerose, Ann and Brian Reilly, Judith and James Marcopoulos and Ethel and William White all of Lowell. One brother Howard Fleury of Lowell, and two sisters, Marion Pereira and Olivia DiRubbo both of Lowell. Twenty-three grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother to the late, Arthur Fleury, Florence (Fleury) Perry, Hazel (Fleury) Castonguay and Clara (Fleury) Chagnon all of Lowell.

During World War II she was a welder at the Boston Naval Ship Yard.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford, MA.
She was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by two daughters Linda E. She was the grandmother of the late Jeffrey DeMartin who died in 1985, and was the sister of the late Ruth Davis of Cambridge, MA who died in 1961.

Scott R. Fabrizio age 17, of Westford, MA died by auto accident Sept. 29, 2001 at the Leahy Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, MA.
Born in Worcester, MA on Oct. 24, 1983 the son of Mark A. and Kim M. (MacDonald) Fabrizio of Westford, MA. He was a student at Westford Academy High School with the class of 2002.
He was a base guitarist in the bands, Time To Rise, End Of Existence, and The Psi Factor all in Westford, MA.
He was a part time employee with Town of Westford Administration in the Technical division with Tim Martin in stalling computer wiring in the Town Hall, the Fire and Police Departments and also the High School.
He was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church.
He was a member of Amnesty International.
Besides his parents he is survived by his brother Mark A. Fabrizio, Jr. of Westford, MA, and Maternal Grandparents Robert and Lois (McGowan) MacDonald of Westboro, MA, and aunts and uncles Richard and Nancy (Andrews) Fabrizio of Sudbury, MA, Steven Fabrizio of Franklin, MA, John and Renee (Caldarelli) Fabrizio of Framingham, MA, Douglas and Maryann (Fabrizio) Walters of Winchester, MA, Robert and Paula (Simone) MacDonald of Reading, MA, David and Alison (Stromberg) MacDonald of Shrewsbury, MA, Gary and Pamela (MacDonald) Trottier of Shrewsbury, MA, and Jeffrey and Lori (MacDonald) Bosset of Ormand Beach, Fl., and sixteen cousins, Nicole, Andrew, Danielle, John, Joel, Kristen, Jonathan, Michael, Erika, Christopher, Meghan, Kelly, Colin, Shane, Ryan, and Samantha.
He was the grandson of the late Angelo and Mary (Mele) Fabrizio of Weston, MA.
