     Mrs. Hazel Mae (Watson) Lentz of Chelmsford died March 1, 2001 at her home.
     She was married to the late Mr. Arthur Lentz.     
     Born in East Barre, VT, on Sept. 7, 1909, the daughter of the late Jennie (Briggs) and Robert Watson.  She was a graduate of the Spaulding High School with the class of 1926, and earned her Teacher Training at the Lowell Normal School in 1930.
     She taught in the Springfield, VT, School System, and was also a Governess in Boston.
     She is survived by a son, Arthur S. Lentz, Jr. of Lowell, and a daughter and son-in-law, Jane E. (Lentz) and her husband David Grudinski of Merrimack, NH, and two grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Grudinski of Merrimack, NH.

Miss Noela P. Payette of N. Chelmsford, age 102 died March 8, 2001, at Town & Country Nursing Home in Lowell.
     Born in Highgate, VT on December 25, 1898, the daughter of the late Dr. Adelard and Almeria (Henotte) Payette.  She was a graduate of St. Joseph's School with the class of 1912 and Lowell High School with the class of 1916.
      For the past six months, she resided at the Town & Country Nursing Home.  Prior her residence at the nursing home she lived in N. Chelmsford for 21 years, Hollywood, FL for 30 years, and Lowell for 45 years.
     She was employed with Jean Davis Interiors of Hollywood, FL retiring at the age of 80.
     She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of N. Chelmsford and formerly of St. Jean de Baptiste Church of Lowell.
     She was a member of the A.A.R.P.
     She is survived by two nieces Jeannine Cocchiaro of N. Chelmsford and Celia Cocchiaro of Holden, MA, three nephews Carl and Charles Cocchiaro both of N. Chelmsford and Christopher Cocchiaro of Los Angeles, CA. 
     She was the sister of the late Andrea Moore of Providence, RI and Laetitia Ste. Marie of Canada.

      Leona Marie (Beaulieu)(Benoit) Adams of Chelmsford died March 11, 2001, at the Life Care Center in Billerica.
      She was married to the late Allan Adams who died Feb. 6, 1963 and the late Edward J. Benoit.
      Born in Lowell on August 12,1906, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Melnea (Arbour) Beaulieu and sister of the late Albert Beaulieu of Lowell, Lucy Henderson of Chelmsford, Alice Matley of Lowell, and Irene Quimby of Nashua.  She was the mother of the late Edward (Jerry) Benoit of Chelmsford.
      She attended the Chelmsford school system. During World War II She worked at the United Parachute Co. in Lowell. For most of her life she worked as a waitress at Jack's Diner in Chelmsford Center.  
      She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Chelmsford. 
      She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Rita) Keaner of Billerica; a sister, Mrs. Blanche St.Onge of Westford; four grandchildren, John D. Keaner of Franklin, NH, Mrs. Donald (Linda) Morse of Pelham, NH, Nancy Bomengen of Groton, and Marsha Trahan of Litchfield, NH, four great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and a sister-in-law Theresa (Daigle) Benoit of Chelmsford;

     Mr. Robert A. Bourassa of Tyngsboro died March 12, 2001, at Lowell General Hospital.
     He was married to Mrs. Laurie (Noble) Bourassa with whom he would have celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary on March 26, 2001.
     Born in Lowell on April 5, 1959, the son of the late Robert R. and Aldea A. (Patenaude) Bourassa.  He was a graduate of Chelmsford High School with the class of 1978.
     He was a licensed electrician and owned and operated Bourassa Electric of Tyngsboro.
     He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford, MA.
     He was a member of the Tyngsboro Sportsman's Club.
     Besides his wife Laurie he is survived by two sons Robert A. Bourassa of Chelmsford and Ryan A. Bourassa of Tyngsboro, a step-daughter Linsey F. Putzlocker of Tyngsboro, three sisters Belinda Hamel of Merritt Island, FL, Mrs. Joseph (Pamela) Ralls of Chelmsford, Mrs. John (Jennifer) Lyons of Tyngsboro, two nephews Keith Russell of Merritt Island, FL, Jacob Russell of Pelham, NH and a niece Kailee Lyons of Tyngsboro.

THOMAS F. MAHER
OF TOWNSEND FORMERLY OF SO. LOWELL
     Mr. Thomas F. Maher of Townsend, MA, formerly of South Lowell, MA. died March 13, 2001, at his home.
     He was married to Mrs. Beatrice (LaPointe) Maher with whom he would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Feb. 1, 2001.
     Born in Lowell, MA on July 19, 1920, the son of the late Richard J. and Bertha (Baldwin) Maher.  He attended the Lowell School system.
     He served with the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II, and prior to World War II he was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. 
     He was employed as an aircraft mechanic at Hanscom Air Field for 20 years. Mr. Maher was also employed by the Rajaniemi Bus Co. in Townsend, MA for 15 years, and also Nielson Frame Co. of Townsend.
     He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of Townsend, MA, and the Sacred Heart Church in Lowell, MA.
      Besides his wife he is survived by a son Mass. State Police Capt. Thomas F. and his wife Kathleen (Vaughan) Maher Jr. of Pepperell, MA, and three grandchildren Maureen Maher, Kelly Maher, and Christopher and his wife Meaghan (Sullivan) Maher, and one great grandson Devan Maher, and one sister Gertrude Bastien of Lowell, MA, and a sister-in-law Rose (Lavoie) Maher of Boyton Beach, FL. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
      He was the brother of the late Richard Maher of Boyton Beach, FL.

     Mrs. Gaetana (Paterna) Mendoza formerly of Westford, MA died March 12, 2001, at her son's home in San Francisco, CA.
     She was married to the late Dr. Luis A. Mendoza who died on January 24, 1996.
     Born in Riesi, Sicily on July 14, 1922, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Gaetana (Lisi) Paterna.  She was a graduate of High School of Practical Arts with the class of 1940, and was president 1973 - 1977 of the Alumni Association and vice president in the past.  
     She and her husband lived in Brookline, MA.  Most of their married life they summered at Long Sought for Pond in Westford, MA and wintered in Northwest Matlacha, FL.
     She was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church of Westford, MA.
     She was a member of German American Club of Cape Coral, Mattacha Civic Association, and the Deborah Hospital Foundation.
     She is survived by two sons Dr. Luis A Mendoza Jr. of Poughkeepsie, NY and Manuel A. Mendoza of San Francisco, CA, a stepdaughter Mrs. Gerald (Ann Marie)Towne of Springfield, MA, two sisters Phyllis Sudano of Boyton Beach, FL and Mrs. Anthony (Catina) Sudano of Sandown, NH.  She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren. 
      She was the sister of the late Emilio A. Paterna of Somerville, MA.

MARY T. MELLE               
     OF CHELMSFORD
     Miss. Mary T. Melle of Chelmsford, MA, formerly of Lowell, and Lawrence died March 16, 2001.
     Born in Waterbury, Ct. on Dec. 18, 1915, the daughter of the late Giacomo "John" and Angela (Chiaramida) Melle.  She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1932, and attended the Boston School of Art.
     She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Chelmsford.
     She is survived by two brothers, Angelo G. Melle of Chelmsford, and Francis X. and his wife Dorothy (Lewis) Melle of Gloucester, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Frances Salvio of New Britton, CT, and Rose and Arthur Passaretti of Palm Harbour, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
      She was the sister of the late Anita Braga of Lowell, and the sister-in-law of the late Larry Salvio and Marsha Melle.

     Mrs. Helen M. (McLaughlin) Elston of Tyngsboro, MA died March 18, 2001 at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell, MA.
     Born in Lowell, MA on Jan. 10, 1918, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Estelle B. (Fulton) McLaughlin.  She was a graduate of Dracut High School with the class of 1935.
     She was a home maker at home most of her life and in her early years she was employed with Brocklemans Grocery Store in Lawrence, MA.
     She is survived by two daughters Patricia and her husband Alvaro Giguere of Dracut, MA, and Deborah Elston, and her companion Andrew Szava-Kovats of Lowell, MA, and two sons and their wives George and Lorraine Elston Jr. of Tyngsboro, MA, and Christopher and Marie Elston of Lowell, MA, and a sister Phyllis Higson of Lowell, MA. and six grandchildren Mark Giguere of MD, Scott Giguere of Lowell, MA, Heather Giguere, Jay Elston, Tracy Holmes all of Nashua, NH, Amy Elston of Tyngsboro, MA.
     She was the sister of the late Charles McLaughlin and Harold McLaughlin both of Dracut, MA.

     Mrs. M. Louise (McDermott)O’Connor of Chelmsford formerly of Lowell died March 22, 2001 at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, MA.
     She was married to the late Martin H. O'Connor who owned and operated Marty's for Parties Restaurant in Lincoln Square and after several years opening a second one in Kearney Square both in Lowell, MA.
     Born in Lowell, MA on July 21, 1913 the daughter of the late Roderick J. and Mary A.(Pendergast) McDermott.  She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1931.
     She was employed as a receptionist with St. John's Hospital in Lowell, MA, retiring in 1975. In her early years she was employed with Lowell Electric Co., and Weiner's Fur Store.
     She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Chelmsford and St. Margaret's Church in Lowell, MA.
     She was a member of Ladies of St. John's Hospital, League of Catholic Woman in Lowell, MA, Oblate Mission Club, Chelmsford Senior Citizens Club.
     She is survived by three sons Martin H. and his wife Francine O'Connor of San Diego, CA, Michael J. O'Connor of Boston, MA, and Roderick M. and his wife     Margaret O'Connor of Falls Church, VA, and four grandchildren Kristine and her husband Alan Larson of Hudson, WI, Erin and her husband David Thomas of Encinitas, CA, Mark O'Connor, and David O'Connor both of Denver, CO and four great grandchildren Nicholas Larson, and Ali Rose Larson both of Hudson, WI, Grant Thomas and Luke Thomas both of Encinitas, CA, and many nieces and nephews among them is Catherine and her husband James Fallon of Lowell, MA.

     Mrs. Ellen (Doole) Swan of Lowell, MA died March 23, 2001 at the Fairhaven Nursing Home in Lowell, MA.
     She was married to Mr. Donald J, Swan who died in 1969.     
     Born in Lowell, MA on Sept. 5, 1916, the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Esther (Bell) Doole.  She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1933.
     Over the years she was employed with Suburban Dairy, and Mahoney Insurance Co. both in Lowell, and Bay State Rehabilitation Center in Billerica as a night cook.
     She was attended the Central Baptist Church in Chelmsford.
     She is survived by a foster-daughter, Beth Westcott of Lowell, with whom she has lived for the past 22 years, a niece Robin L'Hussier of NY, and a nephew Darren L'Hussier of Nashua, NH.
     She was the sister of the late Elizabeth L'Hussier of Westford, MA, who died Dec. 16, 1983.

OF NORTH CHELMSFORD FORMERLY OF LOWELL
     Mr. James H. Dawson of North Chelmsford, MA, formerly of Lowell, MA died March 24, 2001 at his home.
     He was married to Mrs. Veronica (Berry) (McTeague) Dawson and they would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17th, and the late Genevieve (Berry) Dawson who died on June 3, 1968.
     Born in Boston, MA on May 1, 1913, the son of the late James  and Margaret (Wallace) Dawson.  
     He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. 
     He was employed with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford as a firefighter until his retirement in 1973. Following his retirement he worked at Honeywell Bull Corp. in Billerica until 1985.
     He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of Chelmsford and the Sacred Heart Church in Lowell.
     He was a member of Knights of Columbus of Lowell, the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks, and the Walker-Rogers V.F.W. Post # 662 in Lowell.
     Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters and their husbands Janet and Gerald Piche of Gibsonville, NC, Maureen and Lawrence Record of Canterbury, NH, and Mary Ellen and Henry Desmarais of North Chelmsford, MA, and eight grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

     Mrs. Marie J. "LENA" (Lajeunesse) Scrizzi died March 27, 2001 at Genesis Westford House in Westford, MA.
     She was married to Mr. Angelo Scrizzi who died April 23, 1974.
     Born in Lowell, MA on Feb. 6, 1904, the daughter of the late Patrick and Melvina (Saucier) Lajeunesse. She was educated in the Lowell school system.
     Over the years she was employed with Abbott Worsted Mills, and Mohair Plush Mills.
     She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. 
     She was a member of Chelmsford Senior Citizens Club. 
     She is survived by her daughter and her husband Dawn and Thomas Cantara of Chelmsford, five grandchildren Debbie and Joseph Dallorso of Strong, ME, Gary and Becky Cantara of Las Vegas, NV, Donna and Ed Purtell of Pelham, NH, Thomas A. JAMES J. URBAN
     OF DUNSTABLE 
     Mr. James J. Urban of Dunstable died March 29, 2001 at the Lowell General Hospital.
     He was married to Mary H. (Patenaude) Urban with whom he would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on September 7, 2001.     
     Born in Lowell on September 26, 1926, a son of the late John and Joanne (Zuzulski) Urbanowicz.  He was educated at Keith Academy, Lowell Tech, and M.I.T. Night School.
     He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. 
     He was employed as an electrician with several firms over the past years including Dale Electric, Norman E. Day, and Nashua Manufacturing. He was owner of Niagara Electrical Corp. in N. Chelmsford, treasurer of the Dunstable Development and Land Corp., and president of Century Way Corp. in Dunstable and Gardner MA.
      He served on the Finance Committee in Dunstable for many years. 
     He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of Chelmsford.
     He was a member of the American Legion in Boston, the Blind Veterans Association, a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Chelmsford, a past member of the Massachusetts Electrical Contractors Association, and also a past member of the New England Builders Association in Lowell.
     Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Stevens and Diane Dumont both of Dunstable, and Linda and her husband Joseph McIntire of Portsmouth, NH, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Lucille (Bill) Urban of N. Chelmsford, and Robert and Merle (Simpson) Page of Tyngsboro, four grandchildren, Michael Stevens, Daniel Stevens, Tiffany Dumont, and Kevin Dumont all of Dunstable.
     He was the brother of the late Michael Urban of Tewksbury, John Urban of Beverly, and Alice Urban of Tyngsboro.

     Mr. Thomas G. Perkins of Chelmsford died March 30, 2001, at Integrated Health Services in Medford, MA.
     He was married to Mrs. Mary E. (Donovan) Perkins with whom he celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Oct. 12th.
     Born in Saugus, MA on Nov. 26, 1909, the son of the late Gut I. And Mary Ann (Canavan) Perkins.  He was a graduate of Saugus High School, class of 1926, and a graduate of Boston College class of 1930 with a Bachelor of Arts in Classic Studies.
     He served with the U.S. Army during WWII and Vietnam, and was employed with the Veteran's Administration in Boston.
     He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Chelmsford, where he lived for fifty years.
     He was a member of Knights of Columbus Bishop Ruocco Council #9275 in Chelmsford, and of the Chelmsford Elks Lodge #2310.
     He is survived by his wife and by two sons Thomas J. and Edie Perkins of Los Gatos, CA, William J. Perkins of Akron, Ohio, two daughters Mrs. Michael (MaryAnn) DeClemente of Winchester, NH, and Janet Perkins of Cambridge, MA, a brother George and his wife Arlene Perkins of Manchester, CT, a sister Mrs. Catherine Sullivan and her husband Robert of Agawam, MA.  He is also survived by six grandchildren.
     He was the brother of the late Mary Powers of Arlington, MA who died in 1984.
