Mrs. Mary C. (Lane) Newcomb of Chelmsford died May 1, 2000. She was married to Mr. Arthur O. Newcomb who died June 17, 1988. Born in Chelmsford on Jan. 19, 1910, the daughter of the late Herbert W. and Lula E. (Marshall) Lane. She attended the Chelmsford School System. She was a past member of the Central Baptist Church. A life long resident of Chelmsford, she enjoyed bowling with the Happy Rollers Bowling League, and the Notre Dame de Lourdes Bowling League. She was the sister of the late Charles W. Lane of Chelmsford, Ruth Wilder of Miami, FL, Mrs. Sammuel (Ethel) Northam of Largo, FL, and Mrs. Richard (Helen) Ruiter of Miami, FL. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur L. "Sonny" and Joyce R. (Raymond) Newcomb of Chelmsford and Tucson, AZ, and Dick and Kathy (Quinn) Newcomb of Singapore, a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael McTeague of Chelmsford, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and two brother-in-laws and their wives Thomas and Hazel Newcomb, and Robert and Peg Newcomb of all of Lowell.

ESTELLE J. MCENANEY OF NORTH CHELMSFORD
Mrs. Estelle J. McEnaney of North Chelmsford, died May 3, 2000 at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford. She was married to the late Roland M. McEnaney who died March 19, 1968. Born in Lowell, on September 26, 1918, the daughter of the late Omer and Cordelia (Clement) Miron. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1938. She was a homemaker, and was also employed for several years with area nursing homes as a Nursing Assistant, and privately as a Home Health Aide. A resident of North Chelmsford all of her married life, she was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of North Chelmsford. She was a member of the Lowell League of Catholic Women, and the Chelmsford Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by six children and their spouses, Barbara A. Houlihan of West Newton, Raymond P. and Terry (Krzywicki) McEnaney of Tyngsboro, Maureen R. and Lester Chisholm of Wilmington, James M. and Laramie (Sancetta) McEnaney of Chagrin Falls, OH, Robert A. and Susan (O'Brien) McEnaney of North Chelmsford, and Paul R. and Janet (Knight) McEnaney of Whately, MA, two sisters, Yvonne Miron of Chelmsford, and Lorraine Shepard of Lowell, and fifteen beloved grandchildren, Steven, Ken, Christina, Amy, Tim, Lia, Jeff, Ellen, Scott, Stacey, Kendra, Lisa, Katie, Ryan, and Joshua, one great-grandchild, Joey, several nieces and nephews, and many friends and thoughtful neighbors. KENNETH M. SCAGEL, SR. OF LOWELL
Mr. Kenneth M. Scagel, Sr., of Lowell, died May 3, 2000 at the Wentworth - Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH. He was married to the late Ruth E. (Dwyer) Scagel who died on May 27, 1988. Born in Oriskany Falls, NY, the son of the late McLellan J. and Edith (Bumps) Scagel. He was a graduate of Clinton Central High School, Clinton, NY, with the class of 1928, and the Hampton College in 1932 where he earned his Bachelors Degree. In his early years he was employed with Anaconda Wire and Cable Co., and Rex Corp of Acton, MA. He later Founded and held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Dewire Fabricating and Independent Cable in Hudson, MA. He was a member of the 1932 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team. He was a Charter Member of the Billerica Elk's, a past member of the Vesper Country Club in Tyngsboro, and the Youick Club in Lowell. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Scagel of Lowell, a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Farnsworth of Dover, NH, a brother, Bruce H. Scagel of Lazareth, PA, a sister, Beulah Scoones of Burlington, VT, nine grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

ANTHONY J. "TONY" SUCCO OF WESTFORD
Mr. Anthony J. "Tony" Succo of Westford, died May 4, 2000 at Southbridge of North Reading. Born in Boston, MA, on December 18, 1915, the son of the late Peter and Josephine (Fabrizio) Succo. He attended the Westford School System. He served with the U.S. Marines during World War II. Over the years he was employed as a mechanic with Melrose Pontiac, Moody Motors in Winchester, Swanson Motors in Lincoln, and more recently at the Boston Naval shipyard - Watertown Arsenal, from where he retired in 1977. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of North Chelmsford. He was a member of the A.W. Vinal American Legion, Post 313 in North Chelmsford, where he was a Past Commander, the H.E. Fletcher Athletic Club in Westford, and the Stoney Brook Fish and Game club in Westford. He is survived by a son, John A. Succo of Billerica, a daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Gerald Fradkin of Billerica, a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Ernest Benkoski of N. Syracuse, NY, a brother-in-law, James McKennedy of E. Chelmsford, and five grandchildren, Alicia Fradkin and her fiancé John A. Bisesti, and Michelle, Jennifer, Jamie, and Matthew Succo all of Billerica. He was the brother of the late Connie Lynch of Westford and Linda McKennedy of E. Chelmsford.

Mrs. Gladys H. (Sigvardson) Bolger, R.N. of Westford, MA. died May 8, 2000 at the Lowell General Hospital. She was married to Mr. David E. Bolger with whom she would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 12, 2000. Born in Lowell, MA on Aug. 13, 1917, the daughter of the late Carl and Ingrid (Johnson) Sigvardson. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1935, and the Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing with the class of 1938. During World War II she was employed as an R.N. on the staff at Lowell General Hospital, and after her marriage she did private duty for friends and relatives. She was a member of the First Parish United Church in Westford, MA., where she enjoyed working on the quilt and church. She was a member of Lowell General Nurses Alumni Association. Besides her husband she is survived by a son David E. and his wife Sharon L. (Dupuis) Bolger, Jr. of Westford, MA., a sister Doris Shaw of Westford, MA., and a brother Carl and his wife Ruth Sigvardson of Nashua, NH., and two granddaughters and their husbands Kerry and Daniel Glidden of Westford, MA., and Heather and Kenneth Shaw of Germantown, MD., and two great grandchildren Caitlyn and Jonathan Glidden of Westford, MA.

Mrs. Yvonne L. (Patenaude) Barrett of North Chelmsford, MA. died May 9, 2000 at the Health South Rehabilitation Center in Lowell, MA. She was married to the late Thomas G. Barrett who died on June 27, 1979. Born in Salem, MA. on April 25, 1907 the daughter of the late Alfred and Hedwidge (Turcotte) Barrett. She was a graduate of Chelmsford High School with the class of 1925, and Tewksbury State Hospital School of Nursing with the class of 1928. She was employed as an R.N. and was a head nurse at Bedford Veterans Administration Hospital from Nov. of 1930 to 1966 when she retired. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She was a member of the Retired State County & Municipal Employees Association, Retired Federal Employees Association, and the Chelmsford Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by two daughters Barbara Keaney and Jane Sylvain both of Chelmsford, MA., two sister Alice and her husband Leon Chase of North Chelmsford, MA., and Dora Mahoney of Lenox, MA. and seven grandchildren and five great grandsons. Born in New Sharon, ME, on January 25, 1900, the daughter of the late Eugene D. and Arolina (Dixon) Ladd, and the adopted daughter of the late Arthur Getchell, she was educated in Maine. Over the years she was employed with the Grover Cronin Department Store in Waltham, MA. (Scholefield) Cook with whom he celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on April 20, 2000. Born in Lawrence, MA. on Aug. 28, 1944, the son of Mrs. Raymah A. (Semple) Cook of Methuen, MA. and the late Philip C. Cook. He was a graduate of Westford Academy High School with the class of 1962, and also attended Lowell Technological Institute. He was an owner and breeder of horses in Massachusetts and Maine. Over the years he was employed with Lewis Sheppard Truck Dealership in Watertown and Waltham which late became Lewis Boyle, Inc. and for many years with the Stop & Shop Super Market headquarters as the Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member of U.S. Trotters Association, Maine Harness Horse Association, Standard bred Owners of Massachusetts, Maine Breeders and Owners Association. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing. Mr. Andrew A. Mayotte of Chelmsford died May 14, 2000 at the Palm Manor Nursing Home, Chelmsford, MA. He was married to the late Mrs. Eleanor (Copley) Mayotte who passed away in 1984. Born in Lowell on September 21, 1930, the son of the late Louis and Lillian (Provencher) Mayotte. He was educated in the St. Louis School in Lowell. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Lowell until retiring in 1987, and at Harvard Community Health in Chelmsford until retiring in 1996. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of Chelmsford. He was a member of the Local Postal Union # 25 and the Lowell Sportsman Club. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law Stephen A. and Barbara (Picard) Mayotte of N. Chelmsford, Peter T. and Teresa (Myers) Mayotte of Tewksbury, Robert C. and Laura (Knox) Mayotte of West Bridgewater, MA, a daughter and son-in-law Andrea J. Mr. Robert R. Bourassa of North Chelmsford died suddenly May 12, 2000 in Merrit Island, Fl. at his winter home. He was married to the late Mrs. Aldea (Patenaude) Bourassa who died on June 18, 1995. Born in Lowell, MA. on Feb. 24, 1937 the son of the late Roland and Georgiana (Pitts) Bourassa. He was a graduate of Lowell Trade High School with the class of 1953. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. For many years he was self-employed with Bourassa Electrician Co. in North Chelmsford and for 18 years he was the Chief Electrician at the Tewksbury State Hospital retiring in 1996. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. He was a member of the Tyngsboro Sportsman Club and the Tyngsboro American Legion Post. Mrs. Hawa M. (Kallon) Bangura, a nurse, formerly Freetown, Sierra-Leone West Africa died May 15, 2000 at the Lowell General Hospital. She was married to Mr. Edmond J. Bangura with whom she would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on June 11th. Born in Kenema, Sierra, Leone, West Africa on Aug. 17, 1936, daughter of the late Saidu and Mariama Kallon. She was a graduate of Kamabi High School, and the Connaught Hospital School of Nursing in Freetown, Sierra, Leone, West Africa. She was employed with the Connaught Hospital as a Nurse until her retirement in 1992. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Lowell, MA., and St. Martin's Church in Freetown, Sierra, Leone, West Africa, where she was President and usher, and also sang in the choirs and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, she of the Catholic Women's Association. Mrs. Mary Rita (Quealy) Jalbert of Lowell died May 18, 2000 at the Town & Country Nursing Home. She was married to the late Mr. Ray J. Jalbert. Born in Lowell on April 18,1922, the daughter of the late Anne(Fitzgibbons)and James Quealy. She was a graduate of Lowell High School with the class of 1940, and the Bradshaw Business College in 1941. She was employed with Lowell Trucking, Sullivan Brothers Printing in Lowell and more recently with Sears in Lowell and Nashua until her retirement in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Margaret Church of Lowell. She was a member of the Blessed Virgin Society, Middlesex Women's Club in Lowell, Ladies Auxiliary A.O.H., Friend of Senior Center in Chelmsford, a volunteer at the Gift Shop at Lowell General Hospital and she was also affiliated with the Walker-Rogers VFW Post 662 in Lowell. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Joyce and her husband Robert L. Sullivan of Westford, a brother and sister-in-law James and his wife Janice (Stroble) Quealy of Chelmsford, a sister and brother-in-law Mildred and her husband James Perry of Foxboro, and two grandchildren Melissa and Melanie Sullivan of Westford. JOSEPH R. E. JALBERT OF CHELMSFORD
Mr. Joseph R. E. Jalbert of Chelmsford, died May 22, 2000 at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell. He was married to Mrs. Lorraine J. (Marchildon) Jalbert with whom he would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on September 23, 2000. Born in Nashua, NH, on April 29, 1930, the son of the late Eugene and Rose (Boucher) Jalbert. He attended the Nashua School System. He was employed with R.M. Hicks Home Builders in Westford, retiring in 1985. Mr. Jalbert enjoyed, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church of North Chelmsford. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Ronald Jalbert, Roger Jalbert, and Joseph and his wife Kristine (Gendreau) Jalbert, Jr., all of Lowell, eight daughters, Joanne and her husband Angelo M. Palladino, Donna Jalbert, and Mona and her husband William Dodge, Sr., all of Lowell, Leeann and her husband Bruce J. Harper, Jr., of N. Chelmsford, Cindy L. Jalbert of Lowell, Mary Ann Jalbert of Lowell, Tammy Jalbert of W. Rutland, VT, and Terri and her husband Stephen Allen, Sr., of Lowell, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Joan Jalbert of Manchester, NH, and Jerry and Rolanda Jalbert of Merrimack, NH, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa and Richard Hebert and Rachel and Donald Knight all of Haines City, FL, 27 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Robert J. Jalbert who died February 17, 1962, and brother of the late Russell Jalbert who died February 1994.

Mrs. Cecile (Boutin) Dirubbo of North Chelmsford, MA. died May 24, 2000 at the Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell, MA. She was married to Mr. Jeremiah "Jerry" Dirubbo with whom she would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 11. Born in Lowell, MA. on Dec. 13, 1930, the daughter of the late Hercules and Laura (Cicard) Boutin. She was a educated in the Lowell School System at St. Joseph's School. Over the years she was employed with Lowell Dress Co., and the Raytheon Corp. where she was worked for over seventeen years until her retirement in 1994. She had lived for over a fifty years as a resident of North Chelmsford and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter Susan Fernandois of Lowell, and former son-in-law Luis Fernandois of Lowell, MA, three sisters Jeanne St.Cyr of Lowell,MA., Louise and her husband Martin Roy of Suncook, NH., and Georgette St. Onge of Dracut, MA., and two brothers Edmond Boutin of Trijello Alto, Puerto Rico, and Arthur and his wife Claire Boutin of Lowell, MA., two grandchildren Sarah and Max Fernandois of Lowell, MA., and two sister-in-laws Fleurette (Verville) Boutin, and Blanche (Plourde) Boutin, and a brother-in-law James Dirubbo all of Lowell, MA., numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grandnieces and nephews, and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Blanche Carignan, Gerard "Gerry" Boutin, Emile "Mike" Boutin, and Paul Boutin.

Mr. Albert Capuano of Chelmsford, MA, died May 30, 2000 at the Tewksbury Hospital. Born in Lowell, MA, on March 16, 1910, the son of the late Antonio and Theresa (Moreno) Capuano. He attended the Chelmsford School System. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed with the H.E. Fletcher Granite Quarry in Westford, for 60 years until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the A.W. Vinal American Legion, Post #313 of North Chelmsford, the Lafayette Club of Nashua, NH, and a past charter member of the H.E. Fletcher Athletic & Social Club of Westford. He is survived by two sisters, Camilla & Frederick Niethold of Sharon, MA, and Matilda R. & Douglas Logan of Elizabethantown, PA, a brother, Nicholas Capuano of N. Chelmsford, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ralph J. Capuano of N. Chelmsford, Marco Capuano of Nashua, NH, Rose J. Lavender of Lowell, and Philomena Flynn of Lowell.

He was a past member of the Massachusetts National Guard in Lowell, MA. He was employed with The Store 24 in Waltham, MA., as a purchasing manager for the past 26 years, and in his early years he worked for The Alexander's Market in Dracut, MA. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in North Chelmsford, MA. Besides his former wife and parents he is survived by two daughters Gina M. Morrissette of Westford, MA., and Rebecca A. Morrissette, and her friend Joanne Freitas of Dracut, MA., four sisters Lorraine and her husband Richard Daigle, Diane Morrissette and Elaine Morrissette all of Lowell, MA., and Claire Morrissette and her friend Claude Carrier of Foxboro, MA., three brothers Roland A. and his wife Virginia Morrissette, Robert P. his and his wife Karen Morrissette, and Roger P. and his wife Francine Morrissette all of Lowell, MA., and his best friends David and Helen Loiselle of Westford, MA., and many nieces and nephews. ELIZABETH D. GRACE OF BUFFALO, NY
Elizabeth Duvall (Gapa) Grace of Buffalo, NY, died May 29, 2000 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Shawnee Mission, KS, on November 19, 1928, a daughter of Mittie Lee (Duvall) and Stanislaus Kostka Gapa. She received her education at Mt. Carmel in Wichita, KS, graduating in 1946. After her marriage to John W. Bollman in 1950, she moved to the Southern tier of New York state, where she worked as an elementary school teacher. In 1973, she relocated to Buffalo, NY, and attended the Edna G. Diet School of Practical Nursing. Elizabeth was a private duty nurse in Buffalo, caring for several of the city's prominent elder citizens. She enjoyed opera and theater, especially Shakespeare in the Park. She was also active with the Erie County Board of Elections and a member of the Albright Knox Art Gallery. She leaves her daughter, Mary T. Fisher of Lowell, a grandson, Seth P. Fisher of Milford, NH, four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Anne and John Bustard of Edmonds, WA, Mary and Edward Morris of Liberty, MO, Abby and Marvin Spencer of Olathe, KS, and Pauline Clapp of Kansas City, MO, her brother, John Gapa of Oakfield, NY, and her dear friends, Eleanor Oddo, Barbara Frackiewicz, June Storm, and Georgia Pooley of Buffalo, NY, and Ginny and Richard Fisher of Alpharetta, GA.
