NEW BEDFORD -- Helen (Winiarski) Anton, 74, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995, after a brief illness. She was the widow of Edwin R. Anton and daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Brekowych) Winiarski. 
 She died at the Taunton Nursing Home.She was born in Providence, R.I. 
 She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a graduate of New Bedford High School.She was employed by a New Bedford-based lingerie factory as an office supervisor for more than 40 years until her retirement. 
 Mrs. Anton was an avid golfer and a former member of The Country Club of New Bedford.Survivors include a brother, Leo Winston of Decatur, Ga.; and several cousins.

John J. Bates Sr.
GREENVILLE, R.I. -- John J. Bates Sr., 78, of Sprague Street, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 1995. He was the former husband of Emily M. (Birchenough) Bates-Owen and son of the late Paul and Nora (O'Brien) Bates. 
 He died at the VA Medical Center in Providence. Born in Boston, Mass., he lived in Providence, and Fall River, Mass., before moving to Smithfield in 1956. 
 He was employed by the former Livermore & Knight Company in Providence as a proof reader for 27 years until his retirement in 1969.A World War II Army veteran, he retired from the Reserves as a major. 
 Mr. Bates was a member of the Roger Williams Masonic Lodge in North Providence, the Providence YMCA, and a former member of the Smithfield (R.I.) Elks. He was also a charter member of the Fall River AMVETS.Survivors include two sons, John J. Bates Jr. of Smithfield and Russell D. Bates of Danielson, Conn.; two daughters, Maureen A. Bessette-Perrino of North Scituate, Mass., and Judith J. Fratanaro of Chepachet; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Phoebe P. Charpentier
NORTH ATTLEBORO -- Phoebe P. Charpentier, 84, of 85 North Washington St., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995. She was the widow of both J. Rock Charpentier and Mitch Charpentier and daughter of the late Adelard and Blanche (Levesque) Pigeon. 
 She died at the Madonna Manor Nursing Home. Born in New Bedford, she lived in the city most of her life and moved to North Attleboro nine years ago. 
 Survivors include three sisters, Blanche Koczera, Anna Rose and Irene LaPlante, all of New Bedford; a brother, Joseph Pigeon of Taunton; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Roger Charpentier and sister of the late Clara Desrosiers.

ELVERSON, Pa. -- Edna Lottie Lapp, 78, of 278 Warwick Road, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995. She was the wife of Ned M. Lapp Sr. and daughter of the late William and Lottie (Emerson) Wordell. 
 She died at the Brandywine Hospital. Born in Wareham, Mass., she was a graduate of Wareham High School. 
 She was employed by the Falls Church High School in Falls Church, Va., for 26 years as a baker until her retirement in 1978.Mrs. Lapp was a member of the Bruen Chapel Methodist Church in Fairfax, Va. 
 She and her husband had celebrated their 17th anniversary.Survivors include her widower; a son, Samuel Tepper of Manassas, Va.; a daughter, Sue Tepper of Vienna, Va.; two stepsons, Ned M. Lapp Jr. of Birdsboro, Pa., and Paul J. Lapp of Honey Brook, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Carol A. Holloway of Coatesville, Pa., and Karen Arters of Narvon, Pa.; a sister, Elsie Binden of Onset, Mass.; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter and eight step-grandchildren.

DARTMOUTH -- Richard Figueiredo, 66, of South Dartmouth, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1995, after a long illness. He was the husband of Hilda (Alves) Figueiredo and son of the late Alexandrina "Gracie" (Correia) and Edward J. Figueiredo. 
 He died at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. Born in New Bedford, he was a lifelong resident of this area and a communicant of St. Mary Church in Padanaram. 
 He was employed by the Town of Dartmouth as mechanic in the water division until his retirement.A Korean War Army veteran, Mr. Figueiredo was a member of the American Portuguese War Veterans. 
 Survivors include his widow; a son, Wayne Figueiredo of South Dartmouth; three sisters, Edna Mattos of New Bedford, Shirley Costa of South Dartmouth and Peggy Vicik of Chesepeake, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.He was the brother of the late Edward J. Figueiredo.

  Born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, he lived in New Bedford for six years.He and was employed by Cape Spray Company of Hyannis as a fisherman. 
 He was a member of Nuestra Senora DeGuadalupe Parish.Survivors include his widow; a son, Osman A. Peraza of Honduras; a daughter Johanna Peraza of Honduras; three stepdaughters, Yesinia Rios, Rosa Rios, both of Perth Amboy, N.J., and Silkia Rios of New Bedford; seven brothers, Raul Peraza of New Bedford and six others in Honduras; five sisters, Anna Cortes of Los Angeles, Calif., and four others in Honduras and three grandchildren.

WAREHAM -- Alfred J. Boissoneau, 44, died at home Sunday, Dec. 24, 1995, after a brief illness. He was the son of Antoinette C. (Desrochers) Boissoneau of Acushnet and the late Aurele C. Boissoneau. 
  Born in Acushnet, he lived in Wareham for 12 years.He was self employed. 
 Survivors include his mother; twin daughters, Gabrielle Boissoneau and Danielle Boissoneau, both of New Bedford; their mother, Nancy Garant of Wareham; a brother, Raymond Boissoneau of Acushnet; three sisters, Helen A.
