Flora B. Tate
FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Flora B. Tate, 97, is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at Winan United Methodist Church, the Rev. Terrence August officiating.
Visitation is from 2-5 p.m. today at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton and continues tomorrow from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in the Crystal Springs Cemetery.
Ms. Tate, a resident of Franklinton, died Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans.
Survivors include a daughter, Jessie Lee Varnado, New Orleans; four sons, Doyle Tate, Franklinton, Ollie Tate Sr., Troby Tate and John D. Tate, all of New Orleans; 29 grandchildren; 49 great-great grandchildren and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Adrian H. McCarty
BOGALUSA - A memorial service for Adrian H. McCarty, 85, is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Phillip Stagg officiating.
Mr. McCarty died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in Rest Haven Living Center.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shannon Fairley, Bogalusa; a sister-in-law, Margaret Rogers, Bogalusa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church.
Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Eddie Jenkins
ROXBURG, MA - The funeral service for Eddie Jenkins, 74, is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at J.B. Johnson Funeral Home in Roxberg, Mass.
Burial will be in the veterans plot at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Roxburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Jenkins; his mother, Ida Jenkins; a nephew, Christopher Smith; and an uncle, Monroe Jenkins.
Survivors include three nieces, Barbara Morgan, Marilyn Hicks and Mary Ball, all of Bogalusa; a daughter, Delores Clark, Roxburg, MA; a sister, Mary (Nevel) Carson, Bogalusa; four nephews, Billy Ray Hariel, Nevel Carson Jr., Kiley Kilbourne, all of Bogalusa and Jewan Hariel, Gulfport, MS; three great-nieces, Keela Hicks, Kedra Hicks and Kyra Ball, Bogalusa; a great-great-niece, Diamond Ramsey, Bogalusa.

Bonnie Byrd Williams
BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Bonnie Byrd Williams, 80, is scheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home.
Visitation will be today from 6-10 p.m. and will continue tomorrow after 8 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Williams died at 2:40 a.m. today in Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
A native of Cheraw, MS, she was a long-time resident of Bogalusa, a Registered Nurse who retired from Washington-St. Tammany Regional Medical Center after 21 years of service and also served 18 years at Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Perron Williams; her parents, James R. Byrd and Ircilla Mizell Byrd and a sister, Mary Lee Fornea.
Survivors include two daughters, Dera D. "De De" Talley, Rio and Joy I. "Sissie" Hilton, Lee's Creek community; a brother, Jim Byrd, Greenville, MS; a sister, Iris Talley, Rio; five grandchildren, Perry, Todd and Tori Talley, all of Rio, Shea Hilton Normand and Shannon Hilton, both of Lee's Creek community; two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Daisy Normand, Lee Creek's community and special extended family members, Rick Hilton, Baton Rouge, Cliff Hilton, Lee's Creek community and Chris Hilton, Bogalusa.

Elma Tynes Zwilling
BOGALUSA - Mrs. Elma Tynes Zwilling, a retired school teacher, 81 years of age, passed away Wednesday in Covington.
The wake will be today from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral service will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home chapel. Her pastor, the Rev. Stephen Teal of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church, will conduct the services.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Zwilling Sr; a son, Walter Zwilling Jr; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garvin Tynes; three sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by a sister, Bobbie Brooks of Gulfport, four nieces, nine nephews and many great-nieces and great nephews.
She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and always said she would like to be a student all the time because she liked to learn something new every day. This was evident by the many organizations she belonged to and the many hours she spent in each one.
Here are just a few: Senior Citizens with her church, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, the Garden Club, which was especially enjoyable to her as she could get the school children involved to help Bogalusa become the Cleanest City for several years, helping the children to become better citizens; the Retired Teachers' organization, and she was also honored as Teacher of the Year.
She taught Sunday School several years and was active in her church until her death. She also worked with the Credit Union, and she and her family enjoyed many trips with a camping club that took them all over the United States.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Carson Springs Baptist Building Fund in care of Douglas Ray Turnage, Route 2, Sandy Hook, MS 399478, or a favorite charity.
This is the church where she became a Christian at an early age, and where she will be laid to rest with her husband, son, mother, father, two sisters and one brother.
She always said for family and friends not to grieve for her but to rejoice as she was with her family in heaven.

Kenneth Earl Ward
BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Kenneth Earl Ward, 53, a resident of Detroit, MI, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Sweet Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, Bogalusa. The Rev.
Raymond Mims will officiate, with burial following in the Bogalusa Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. tomorrow at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa with a wake service beginning at 7 p.m.
Mr. Ward died Sunday in Detroit. He was born Aug. 26, 1946, in Bogalusa. Reared in Bogalusa, he graduated from Central Memorial High School and attended Grambling State University and graduated from Ford University, majoring in Hydraulic engineering. He was an employee of Ford Motor Company for the past 34 years. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie and Willie Bell Crawford, and a loyal brother, Harris Gregory Crawford.
Survivors include his devoted mother, Mrs. Geraldine Varice Bennett, Bogalusa; his father, P.R.
Robinson, Los Angles, CA; three sons, Kerry, Kevin, and Korey, Detroit; a sister, Cynthia (Marion) White, Dublin, OH; three brothers, Steven Ward, Rodney Crawford and Michael (Eloise) Ward, all of Bogalusa; two aunts, Gayle Jenkins and Sandra Lusk, Bogalusa; a loving grandmother, Mary Williams, Bogalusa; many devoted cousins, Barbara Ann Staples, Jamaica, NY, Willie E. FRANKLINTON - The funeral service for Mildred Warren Scobel, 83, is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Crain Funeral Home of Franklinton, the Rev. Karl Tingle officiating.
Visitation will be after 9 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home, continuing until time for the funeral service.
A graveside service will be also held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Westlawn Mausoleum in New Orleans.
Ms. Scobel died yesterday at 5 p.m. at her residence in Baton Rouge.
She was a longtime resident of Gretna and a retired secretary for Lykes Brothers Steamship.
Survivors include two sons, Buddy Wood, Franklinton and William P. Pitre of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Delores Ann Gill, Long Beach, CA; a sister, Marie Kliesch, Orange, TX; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6-10 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home, continuing after 8 a.m. Sunday until time for the final service.
Mrs. Schilling died at 1 p.m. yesterday at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Otho Schilling Jr., Mt. Pisgah community; two sons, Brandon Schilling and Cole Schilling, both of Mt. Pisgah; her mother and father, Willie J. and Jean Roberts Nielson, Franklinton; two brothers, Russell Nielson and Bruce Nielson, Franklinton; and her grandmother, Susie Nielson, Franklinton.

Mrs. Doris Yvonne Wayne

BOGALUSA - Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Yvonne Wayne, 78, a resident of Poplarville, Miss. are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Mitchell's Chapel Church of God Church at Crossroads, Miss., with the Rev. Gordan Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mitchell's Chapel Church of God Church cemetery, Brown-McGehee Funeral Home of Bogalusa directing.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. Saturday until the time of the services today at Mitchell's Chapel Church of God Church at Crossroads, Miss.
Mrs. Wayne died Jan. 28, 2000 at the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
She resided at 399 Humphery Rd. in Poplarville, Miss.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie R. Salyers, Mounds, Okla.; a son, David E. Wayne, Crossroads, Miss.; a sister, Rosalie Richardson, Pascagoula, Miss.; a brother, Clarence Darrell Couley, Moss Point, Miss., seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tressie Perry

CARRIERE, Miss. - Funeral services for Mrs. Tressie Perry, 89, a resident of Carriere, Miss., are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Henleyfield, Miss., the Revs. Sollie Smith and Arthur Shaw officiating.
Burial will follow in the Henleyfield Cemetery, McDonald Funeral Home of Picayune, Miss.

Visitation was Saturday after 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Henleyfield, Miss.
Mrs. Perry died Jan. 28, 2000 at her residence in Carriere, Miss.
A native of Kentucky, Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Henleyfield, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quitmann Perry, and a grandson, Brent Perry.
Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Nunn, Bogalusa, La., Annette Seal, Crossroads, Miss., and Rita Smith, Lucedale, Miss.; three sons, Clarence Barton, Royce Perry and Raymond Perry, all residents of Carriere, Miss., 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, four special adopted grandsons, James Burnside, Taylor Burnett, Rocky Dubuisson and Jonathan Wheat, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Burnette, Rocky Dubuisson and Ron Robinson, along with her granddaughters, Debbie Aaron, Cherita Geraldson, Teresa Tretber, Tawana Applegate, Becky Byrd and Trudy Scales.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Elbert Barton, Steve Nunn, Kirt Perry, Kelvin Nunn, Douglas Smith, Malcolm Perry, Shannon Perry and Earl Seal II.

Mrs. Gay Nell Lucas
(Died Jan. 28, 2000)
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - Funeral services for Mrs. Gay Nell Lucas, 77, a resident of Bay St.
Louis, Miss., are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday in Brown-McGehee Funeral Home chapel in Bogalusa, La., with the Rev. Billy Galloway officiating.
Burial will follow in Ponemah Cemetery, Brown-McGehee Funeral Home directing.
Visitation is from 3:30-10 p.m. Monday at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home chapel, and continues Tuesday after 8 a.m. until the time of the services.
Mrs. Lucas died Jan. 28, 2000 as her residence in Bay St. Louis, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Lucas.
Although Mrs. Had no children of her own, she raised many others.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lillian Carter Fisher
(Died Jan. 28, 2000)
FRANKLINTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Carter Fisher, 90, a lifetime resident of Franklinton, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday in the Crain Funeral Home chapel in Franklinton with the Rev. Perry A. Porter of Macon, Ga., her grandson-in-law, and the Rev. Jack Collins officiating.
Burial will followed in the Morris Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. DeVon Byrd and directed by Crain Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Monday morning from 9-11 a.m. at Crain Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fisher died Jan. 28, 2000 at her residence, 1730 Main St. in Franklinton.
Known to a multitude of friends and relatives as Granny, Mrs. Fisher devoted her early life to her husband and children and was a godly influence on her grandchildren and their families. In 1970 she worked as a nurses aide at Riverside Medical Center.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Fisher, her parents, Frank and Bertha Carter, a sister, Winnie C. Adams, and three brothers, T.O. Carter, Floyd Carter and Robert Carter.
Survivors include three daughters, Mildred (Mrs. Robert K.) Lewis, DeRidder, La., Yvonne (Mrs. Carey L.) Phares and Jeanette (Mrs. Billy G.) Sylvest, both residents of Franklinton; one sister, Sadie C. Bennett, Bogalusa; a brother, Otis F. Carter, Franklinton; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to: Hospice of St. Tammany, 1202 S. Tyler, St. Covington, La. 70433, or to the church of your choice.

BATON ROUGE - The funeral service for Hampton Lea, 78, is being held at 10 a.m. today in Welsh Funeral Home, Baton Rouge.
Visitation was from 8:30 a.m. to time of service.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, MS.

Mr. Lea died Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II, a retired salesman with Holsum Bread and a longtime member of South Side Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hampton Sr. and Ella Lea.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Hampton M. Lea, Baton Rouge; four daughters, Patricia Watson, Bogalusa, Norma Francis, Charlene Melk and Julie Kalluoda, all of Baton Rouge; two sons, Thomas Lea and William Lea, Baton Rouge; a brother Theodore Lea, Canada; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Champagne died yesterday at 10 p.m. in the Riverside Medical Center. She was a member of the Brockdale United Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Champagne Sr.
Survivors include a son, Freddie Champagne, Pine; a daughter, Mona Lisa Roach, Golden Meadow; two brothers, Johnson Borne, Thomas and Dempsey Borne, Golden Meadow; and a sister, Mary Billiot, Thomas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gwendolyn Louise Baer
(Died Feb. 16, 2000)
BOGALUSA - The funeral service for Gwendolyn Louise Baer, 85, is scheduled from 11-2 at the Baer family home, the Rev. Phil Stagg officiating.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the Baer family home, 1127 N. Border Drive, in Bogalusa.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Bogalusa, First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge and University Lab School Foundation.
Burial will be at the Baer Family Cemetery, Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Baer died this morning at the Bogalusa Medical Center after a long illness. She was a life-long resident of Bogalusa and a graduate of Bogalusa High School as valedictorian; charter member of Torch Social Club, charter member of Bogalusa Civic League, Northeast Garden Club and YWCA.
She was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church, and was also active in many community and charitable organizations.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael S. Baer Jr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.E.
Willis; and a grandson, Michael Perrault.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael S. and Debbie Baer, III, Baton Rouge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine and David Perrault, Bogalusa, and Gwen and John Greene, Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
