federal agent, World War II veteran, Mason and a resident of Melbourne,
FL., died in Melbourne on Oct. 18.
Interment was in Florida Memorial Gardens on Oct. 24. The son of the
late Eugene B. Williams, he is survived by a son, Robert Williams and a
sister, Martha Lee Sampson of Bayonne, NJ.

BOGALUSA Christine Hopkins Thomas, age 59, died Saturday at her residence
in Golden Meadow.
She is survived by a two sons, James Thomas of Houma and Jefferson
Thomas of Maurepas; a daughter, Christy Lynn Adams of Grand Isle; two brothers,
Lonnie Hopkins of Pascagoula and Lester Hopkins; three sisters, Mildred
Isaic, Martha Ann and Joyce Hopkins; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Thomas; a son, Alton
Thomas Jr.; and a brother, Hoppie Hopkins.
Visitation will be today from 3 to 10 p.m. at the Brown-McGehee Funeral
Home. The funeral service and interment will be at a later date. It is

He is survived by a son, Justin Breshears of Albuquerque, NM; his mother,
Carolyn Rachel Breashears of Bogalusa; his father, Kelly Breshears of Bogalusa;
a brother, Terry Wayne Ladner of Bogalusa; his grandparents, Nellie Ruth
and Wilton Pittman, and Vernon Rachel, all of Bogalusa; a very special

in Friendswood, TX. following a lengthy hospitalization.
A native of North Louisiana, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law,

three sisters and a brother-in-law, Elsie Harris of Alexandria, Rose and

he was a member of the American Legion and a retired mechanic.

A private family funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at
Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Phelps, OSB, will
officiate at the funeral service, followed by entombment in Sanctuary of
Peace Mausoleum in Ponemah Cemetery. Preceding the service, visitation
will be from 9 until 10:30 a.m., with a rosary at 10 a.m.
Mrs. Starnes, a retired English teacher, is survived by her husband,
Dr. C.R. Starnes of Bogalusa; her children, Sharon Starnes Sbar of Collingswood,
NJ, Judy Starnes Schwenk of Pineville, and Dr. Robert Starnes of Bogalusa;
her sister, Virginia Mijal of Westland, MI; her brother, Irvin Czajkowski
of Bellville, MI; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

home Monday at his residence in Varnado. He was a retired employee of Crown

United Pentecostal Church.
The husband of the late Rev. Irene Mohon, he was also preceded in death
by a daughter, Patsy Duncan, and a grandson, David Duncan.

Her church activities brought her to serve as leader of the Happy Hearts
Senior group for several years. She was instrumental in writing the history
of the church for its 100th anniversary and then updating it for its 125th.
Mrs. Ney was also active in Sunday School and Discipleship Training and
worked with all age groups young and old. She also served with the parish
Baptist Association Senior Bible Sessions and was a devoted deacon's wife.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 6 - 9 p.m. today and
will continue tomorrow after 9 a.m. at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church until
time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ace McVay and the Rev.
Dr. Joe Baugh will officiate, with burial following in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Henry L. Ney Jr. of Mt. Hermon;
four daughters, Jerice Elaine West of Las Vegas, NV; Rosalind Ann Anderson
of Huntington Beach, CA; Judith Elizabeth Ney of Covington; Ellen Marie
Ney Campbell of Madisonville; a foster son, George Sullivan of Hammond;
eight grandchildren, Stacy Elaine Smith, Stephen Edward Smith, Erica Christine
Parks, Brian Harris Powell, Ryan Christopher Anderson, Lori Sullivan, Mary
ReNey Anderson and Harold William Joseph Campbell, III; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Carolyn Sue McGinness

AMITE - Funeral arrangements have been completed for Carolyn Sue McGinness,
age 32, who died Wednesday at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. A native
of Bogalusa and resident of Amite for five years, she was a member of Westside
Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bogalusa and was currently attending First Baptist
Church in Amite.
Visitation will be at the Brown-McGehee Funeral Home today from 5 -
9 p.m., continuing tomorrow after 11 a.m. until time for the funeral service
at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
The Rev. David Fortenberry, pastor of First Baptist Church in Amite
and the Rev. John Kittrell, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of
Bogalusa, will officiate with interment to follow in Ponemah Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Mason Scott McGiness; her mother, Betty
Lou Griffin McGinness of Bogalusa; two brothers, Clifton Lee McGinness
of New Orleans and Thomas Steve McGinness of Columbia, South America.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rufus R. (Mack) McGinness.

BOGALUSA - Nelson Parker, age 77, died Saturday at the Bogalusa Community
He is survived by a son, Gerry Parker of Bogalusa; a daughter, Shirley
Miley of Bogalusa; a brother, Ray Parker of Talisheek and a sister, Ellen
Parker of Greenwell Springs.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Brown-McGhee
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Gaydell Hushfield Havard

BOGALUSA - Gaydell Husfield Havard, age 51, died at her daughter's
residence in Bogalusa. A native of Picayune, she had been a resident of
McNeil for the past four years.
Visitation will be today from 5-10 p.m. at the Brown-McGehee Funeral
Home, continuing tomorrow after 8 a.m. until time for the funeral service
at 2 p.m. in the chapel. She is survived by her husband, William Thomas
Havard of McNeil; four daughters, Sherri Gabriel of Bay St. Louis, Sandra

three sisters-in-law, Cindy Stockstill of Slidell, Bobbie Bingham of Slidell

Richard Earl Miley

ANGIE - Richard Earl Miley, age 62, a resident of the Seven Mile Road,
died Saturday at the Bogalusa Community Medical Center.
Visitation will be tomorrow from 5-10 p.m. in the chapel of Brown-McGehee
Funeral Home, continuing Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time for the final
service at 2 p.m with the Rev. Preston Alsobrooks and Eld.Mason Miley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Miley Cemetery on the Seven Mile Road.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jarrell Miley of Angie; two sons,

BOGALUSA - Lillian Idelle Catha, age 93, died Saturday at the Bogalusa
Community Medical Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Visitation was held yesterday from 6-9 p.m, and continued today at 11 a.m
until time for the funeral service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Emory Smith will
officiate, with interment following in Ponemah Cemetery.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.D. Catha; two sisters,
Velma Smith and Mary Schilling; two brothers, Lubye Paul and Archie Paul.
Naomi Frances Breland

MT. HERMON - Naomi Frances Breland, age 81, died yesterday at her residence
Hermon. She was a registered nurse and supervisor for social work for
the Louisiana Department of Public Welfare. After retirement she continued
the role of care taker for her mother and her beloved animals, as well
as many people she loved in the community.
Her body was cremated, with arrangements by Crain Funeral Home.
She is survived by a sister, Cyndia Breland Burak of Mt. Hermon; a
niece, Lois Burak of Philadelphia, PA; and a nephew, Jef Burak, also of

FRANKLINTON - Ann Armstrong, age 61, died Sunday at her residence in
Franklinton. She was born July 24, 1938 in Washington Parish, the daughter
of Wilbur and Verlie Georgia Wood Toney.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Austin Armstrong of Franklinton;
a son, Charles Alan Armstrong of Franklinton; a daughter, Karen Lynn Petersen
of New Town, CT; a brother, John Duel Toney of Santa Rosa, Mexico; four
grandchildren, Michael Goolsby, Bridgett Goolsby, Steve Petersen and Amanda
Petersen; one great-grandchild, Alex Goolsby.
Visitation will be held today from 4-9 p.m. at Hartman-Hughes Funeral
Home in Tyler-town. The funeral service will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the
funeral home chapel.
Eld. Ted Phillips and Eld. Lavon Taylor will officiate at the final
service, with burial following in the Star Hill Cemetery.
