A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off for Anthony “Chopper” Curole, 54, a native and resident of Cut Off, who died at 7:30 p.m. March 4, 2000.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until funeral time at the church.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.
He was the companion of Lou Cheramie; father of Anthony Jr., Jay, Jess and Jenny Curole; and brother of Roland Curole and Audrey Acosta. He is also survived by one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orestile and Clothilde Cantrelle Curole; and brother, Murphy Curole.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, vice-president of the Cut Off Fishing Club and a member of the Golden Meadow/ Fourchon Tarpon Rodeo.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport for Hubert John Eschette, 72, a native and resident of Lockport, who died at 7:55 p.m. March 4, 2000.
Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today at Samart Funeral Home in Raceland and 8 a.m. until funeral time at the church.
Burial will be at the church cemetery.
He was the husband of Thelma Loupe Eschette of Lockport; father of Keith Eschette of Georgetown, Tenn.; Kurt Eschette of Lockport, Kern Eschette of Tennessee and Kate Plaisance of Lockport; brother of Nilton Eschette and Pearl Arceneaux, both of Lockport. He is also survived by eight grandchhildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sullivan and Frances Triche Eschette; brothers, Nolan and Ashton Eschette; and sister, Gertie Vicknair.
He was Catholic and a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church.

Daisy Gouveia
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Samart Funeral Home in Houma for Daisy “Dee” Marie Gouveia, 52, a native and resident of Houma, who died at noon March 2, 2000.
Burial was at Rogers Cemetery in Houma.
She was the wife of Robert “Pine” Gouveia of Houma; daughter of Audrey Brunet of Chauvin; mother of Ryan Chauvin of Bayou Blue, Rhonda and Robin Chauvin, Renee Gouveia, Shannon Domangue and Kathy Verret, all of Houma, Tracie Burke of Loganville, Georgia; sister of Acklin Brunet and Lisa Whitten, both of Houma, Angelo Jr., Floyd and Beulah Brunet and Dale Hebert, all of Chauvin, and Allen Brunet of Huntsville, Ala. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Angelo Brunet Sr.; grandparents, Daisy and Andrew Vito; brother, Chris Brunet; and granddaughter, Mindi Domangue.
She was Catholic.

Rita D. Guidroz, 88, a native and resident of Lockport, died at 3:50 a.m. March 3, 2000.
She was the sister of Essie D. Bascle Simpson, Sister Germaine Delaune, C.I.C. and Lucille Delaune, all of Lockport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit B. Guidroz; parents, Elfert P. and Marguerite Bourgeois Delaune; brothers, Maximillion J. and Elsnert J. Delaune; and sisters, Edith Morvant and Judith Guidroz.
She was a retired law firm secretary.

Verna Peltier
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at noon Saturday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Metairie for Verna Douglas Peltier, 91, a native and resident of Metairie, who died March 2, 2000.
Burial was at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum in New Orleans.
She was the mother of Daniel, Gerald and David Peltier, Audrey Peltier Mendel and Celeste P. Loyd. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Hardware Boosters, Metairie Lioness and Lions Club and the Evergreen Garden Club.

Robert Pitre Sr.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Hahnville for Robert J. Pitre Sr., 66, a native of Mathews and resident of Killona, who died at 1:48 a.m. March 3, 2000.
Burial was at Holy Rosary cemetery in Taft.
He was the husband of Vivian Vicknair Pitre; father of Bruce Pitre and Robin Rogers; brother of Donald Pitre and Gertrude Bourgeois, Florence Eschette, Emma Touro and Marion Chiasson. He is also survived by two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ismae Savoie Pitre; son, Robert Pitre Jr.; brothers, Floyd, Hudson, Gerald and Leslie Pitre; and sisters, Genevieve Broussard, Anna Mae Breaux, Marie and Francis Pitre.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Mt. Baptist Church Cemetery in Larose for Rasheen Sylvester Williams Jr., infant, a native and resident of Larose, who died March 2, 2000.
He was the son of Kimley Marie Gardner of Larose and Rasheen S. Williams Sr. of Houma; grandson of Hilda Ingram and Kenneth Boyd of Raceland, Willie Gardner of Larose, Wilma Williams, and Charles Williams of Houma; brother of Marquise and Auriel Gardener of Larose; and step-brother of Ian Ford of Larose.

Wilbur Cothron
Religious services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport for Wilbur Burt “Cotton” Cothron, 70, a native and resident of Lockport who died March 4, 2000.

He was the husband of Dolores Dominique Cothron; father of Jamie M., Dana A., and Craig M. Cothron, Donna Chauvin Falgoust, Lisa Chauvin Gros, Angela Chauvin Dominique and Jan Cothron Chisholm; brother of Norris and Carmen Cothron and Dorothy Cothron Kazebeer.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph B. and Emma St. John Cothron; a son, Darren Scott Cothron; brothers, Warren, Edward, R.B., Floyd, Lloyd, Hayward and Antonio Cothron; and a sister, Alethea C. Thomas.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Lockport American Legion and the Raceland Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux for Kenneth Louis Hebert Sr., 53, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Des Allemands who died at 9 a.m. March 6, 2000.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Landry’s Funeral Home in Thibodaux.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.
He was the husband of Martha Fanguy Hebert; father of Kenneth Hebert Jr., Chad Fanguy and Jennifer Cologne; brother of David Hebert, O’Neil Hebert Jr., and Ida Mae Toups.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, O’Neil Hebert Sr. and Corinne Gros Hebert; a brother, Ronald Hebert, and a sister, Rose Mary Hebert.

Jessie Lyons
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin for Jessie "Bud" Lyons, 62, a native and resident of Chauvin, who died at 10:02 a.m. May 18, 2000.

He was the husband of Pearl Fanguy Lyons; son of Mazie "Nan" Domangue; father of Eddie Lyons and Lisa L. Hebert; and brother of Herbert "Junior" Domangue, Bertha Fanguy and Loraine Bergeron. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his fathers, Eddie Lyons and Herbert Domangue Sr.
He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin.
He was a retired boat captain who was employed by Otis Engineering of Houma.

Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma and 10 a.m. until funeral time at the church.
Burial will be at St. Bridget Cemetery in Schriever.
She was the mother of Randy Theriot of Gray, Diana Darccy of Bourg and Denise Adams of Thibodaux; mother-in-law of Pamela Theriot, Kenneth Darccy and Karl Adams; and sister of Beatrice Toups, Gloria Fanguy and Cecile Lantagne of Houma, and Dorothy Leonard of Metairie. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford John Theriot; parents, Adam and Mabel Trahan Breaux; daughter, Mona Machen; brothers, Arthur, Eddie and A.J. Breaux; and sisters, Josephine Boudreax and Irene Bonvillain.
She was a retired lab technician for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
She was also a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church and a member of the St. Louis Ladies Auxiliary.

A religious service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Thibodaux Funeral Home in Thibodaux for Malcolm J. "Bill" Fanguy Sr., 77, a native and resident of Chacahoula, who died at 10:20 a.m. June 17, 2000.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
Burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Chacahoula.
He was the father of Malcolm J. "Sonny " Fanguy Jr. and Gwen Adams; and brother of Drouis Fanguy and Earline Mire. He is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Una Mae Bourgeois; parents, Moise and Mary Arcement Fanguy; and sisters, Bertile Bourgeois and Lois Fanguy.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport for Celine Philomine Folse, 90, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Raceland, who died at 7:10 a.m. June 16, 2000.
Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery in the St. Charles Community.
She was the sister of Albert M. Folse and had many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Notessia Waguespack Folse; brothers, Olida and Joseph Folse; and sisters, Marie, Henrietta and Odelia Folse and Marietta Laris.
She will be sadly missed by those she lovingly cared for, namely Catherine G. Duplantis, Eugene G. Gouaux Jr., Patricia G. Simpson, Frances G. Comeaux, James W. Gouaux and their children.

She was the wife of Alfred Charles Gilchrist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lufroid and Eloise Callahan Pitre; brothers, Harold, Elbe and Eustache Pitre and Joseph Cantrelle; and sisters, Helena Hennessy and Martha Bourgeois.
She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and taught school for 40 years.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Altar Society and the Retired Teachers Association.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in St. John for Vernice C. Landry, 86, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Schriever, who died at 10:46 p.m. June 16, 2000.
Burial was at the church cemetery.
She was the mother of Jerry, Lloyd, Gene and Donald Landry, Joyce L. Boudreaux, Jeannette L. Hebert and Gail L. Chamberlain; and sister of Norman "Jack" and Adeline Chiasson and Marie Duet. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Avit E. Landry; parents, Leonce J. and Clemence Thibodaux Chiasson; brother, Anthony Chiasson; sister, Versie Chiasson; and one great-grandchild.

Dr. Louis LeBlanc Sr.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow for Dr. Louis P. LeBlanc Sr., 92, a native of Paincourtville and resident of Golden Meadow, who died at 6:35 a.m. June 16, 2000.
Burial was at the church mausoleum.
He was the husband of Hattie Thibodaux LeBlanc; father of Louis P. LeBlanc Jr. and Merrill LeBlanc Cornay. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Henry and Elizabeth Charlet LeBlanc, and brother , Albert Henry LeBlanc.
Dr. LeBlanc was awarded a proclamation from the Town of Golden Meadow on July 17, 1989, for maintaining his dental office in the town for 65 years. The office remains open and is presently maintained by his son, Dr. Louis P. LeBlanc, Jr.
He completed high school at Thibodaux College. He attended Loyola University, graduating in 1929 with a degree in dentistry. He opened his office for the practice of dentistry in Golden Meadow on July 10, 1929. He was a member of the Louisiana State Dental Society and the American Dental Society, having served as the president of the Third District of the Louisiana Dental Society.
He was appointed to the Board of Control of the Lafourche Parish Library in 1947 where he served until his voluntary retirement in 1975. He served as president of the Lafourche Parish Library Board for five years.
He served two terms on the Parish Welfare Board. During World War II he served on the Rationing Board.
He served three terms as Chairman of the Golden Meadow Municipal Executive Committee when Golden Meadow was incorporated in 1950.
He was a charter member and helped organize Our Lady of the Sea Council #3150 Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight and Deputy Grand Knight. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was also a charter member and helped organize the Rotary Club of Golden Meadow , serving at different times as its president, vice president and secretary.
He was appointed as a member to the Board of Commissioners of the Fire Protection District #3 of the Parish of Lafourche when it was organized in 1961, where he served until his voluntary retirement in 1975.
He was a member of the Board of Directors for State Bank and Trust Company, which he helped organize in 1953. He also served as the board's vice president.
He also served three terms on the Board of Directors for the Tidelands Golf and Country Club, which he helped organize.
Donations to the American Cancer Society are preferred.

Mel Mitchell
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part for Mel Bruce Mitchell, 48, a native of Donaldsonville and resident of Pierre Part, who died at 12:30 a.m. June 17, 2000.
Burial was at the church cemtery.
He was the husband of Debra Daigle Mitchell of Pierre Part; father of Jody Mitchell of French Settlement, Jason Mitchell of Houma and Jerad Mitchell of Pierre Part; and brother of Vickie Kirkpatrick of Baton Rouge and Karon Rasberry of Plaquemine. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by her parents, Guess T. and Catherine Hernandez Mitchell.
He was a cross-country truck driver for Liquid Air and was certified in hauling compressed industrial air gases.
He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard and Union Local #102.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Annunziata Catholic Church in Houma for Elsie Porche, 79, a native and resident of Terrebonne Parish, who died at 6:30 a.m. June 17, 2000.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until service time at the church.
She will be cremated.
She was the mother of Elizabeth Deroche and sister of Albert, Aaron and Harold Pitre. She is also survived by one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Porche; parents, Necia and Bernard Pitre; brother, Jules Pitre; and sisters, Libby Burch, Alene Bonvillain, Jeanette Buquet and Jenny Bergeron.
She was Catholic.
She was a housewife.

He was the husband of Sirena Saltzman Rogers of New Iberia; father of Jeff Rogers of Kenner, Kevin Rogers of Atlanta, Ga. and Edith Minor of Thibodaux; stepfather of Mike Simon and Phillip Saltzman, both of New Iberia, Sheryl Bourque, Christine Simon and Nadine Boudoin, all of New Iberia, and Robin Valverde of Pensacola, Fla.; and brother of Herman Rogers of Orangeburg, S.C., Jimmy Rogers of Lockport, Junius Rogers of Houma, Reynold Rogers of Chacahoula, Elise Broussard of Franklin and Phyllis R. Dumesnil of Broussard. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Altia Rogers and Celastine Naquin; and brothers, Raymond and Byron Rogers.

She was the wife of Valcour Vizier; daughter of Katie Ochoa Lopez; mother of Raymond and Christopher Dufrene and Mary Cantrelle; and sister of Cruz, Rudy and Roland Lopez, Lupe Rojas and Margie Bly. She is also survived by two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Esa Lopez, and brother, Freddie Rojas.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church and a spiritual sister of Schouenstat Shrine Prayer Group and an Adorer of the Eucharist.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Samart Funeral Home in Raceland for Paul D. Wernich Sr., 56, a native of Milwaukee, Wis., and resident of Raceland, who died at 12:23 p.m. June 16, 2000.
He was cremated.
He was the father of Paul Jr. and Edward Wernich and brother of Robert Manning, Casey Franklin, Maggie Dooley, Marnie Manning and Linda Abrahms. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Louise Dean Wernich, and stepfather, Robert Francis Manning.
