Geraldine Mays Darling Liles 86 of Jonesboro, died Friday, May 5, 2000
in Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston. Funeral services were held at 10:00
a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2000 at the Church of Christ with Rev. Rick Cole
and Bro. Freddie Shows officiating. Burial was in the Liles Cemetery under
the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Liles was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters Blakely Ann Amidon and husband Skip, Jimmey
Raborn and husband Sam all of Jonesboro; two sons Pat Liles and wife Pam
of Temple, TX, Thomas E. Liles and wife Linda of Jonesboro; Three sisters,
Sallie Carolyn Buchanan of Dear Park, TX, Nia Jo Khum and husband Walt
of Yacaipa, CA, Jean Reeder and husband Jerry of Nashville, AR; one brother
Pete Darling of Nashville, AR. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles Wayne Raborn, Jr.,

Mrs. Aline Watts Logan 90, of Shreveport died Friday, May 5, 2000,
at Life Care Hospital in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. Funeral services
were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 8, 2000 at the Old Saline Baptist Church
in Saline with Rev. Stuart Toms officiating. Burial was in the Old Saline
Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home in
Jonesboro. Mrs. Logan was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Artis Murry
Logan and one son, James Wiley Logan. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs.
Murline Dean and husband N. Ross of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. DeLane
Smith and husband Raleigh of Shreveport; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Melba
Bea Rogers of Shreveport. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Danny
Ross Dean of Shreveport and Beatrice DeLane Aaron and husband John O. of
Tulsa, OK,; five great grandchildren, Jason, Melissa and Cindy Dean and
Christopher and Samantha Aaron. Pallbearers were Bobby G. Watts, Don Matlock,
William Randall Rogers, Edwin Smith, Sam Watts, Steven Michael Rogers,
James Lofton Rogers and Shane Rogers.
Leroy Chatham Sr. -- Chatham, LA
Mr. Leroy Jackson Chatham, Sr. 88, of Chatham died Friday, May 5, 2000
at North Monroe Hospital in Monroe. Funeral services were held at 2:00
p.m. Sunday, may 7, 2000 at the Chatham United Methodist Church with Rev.
Samuel Emanuel officiating. Burial was in the Chatham Cemetery under the
direction Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Mr. Chatham was a Navy Veteran
of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a retired forestry employee
for the State of Louisiana and an avid bee keeper. He was preceded in death
by one daughter, Carolyn Roca. Mr. Chatham is survived by his loving wife
of 65 years, Mrs. Hazel Watson Chatham of Chatham; two sons, Leroy J. Chatham
Jr. and wife Brenda, Lloyd A. Chatham and wife Linda both of Chatham; two
daughters, Susan C. Davis and husband Marvin of Chatham, Sharon C. Hubanks
and Husband Earl of Eros; one sons-in-law, J. J. Roca of New Orleans; two
brothers, Bert M. Chatham and C. R. Chatham and wife Ruth all of West Monroe.
He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were
the grandsons, Kevin Roca, Vince Roca, Johnny David, Raymond McGurk, Jason
Chatham and David Hubanks. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Chatham, Dwight

Shirley Choate -- Arcadia, LA
We are gathered today to celebrate the home going of Shirley Tilley
Choate. Shirley was born on June 28, 1934 in Bienville Parish, Louisiana.
She went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2000, at Lincoln General Hospital
in Ruston, Louisiana, having lived 65 years, 6 months, and 28 days. She
was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery on Louisiana Highway 147 south of Arcadia.
She is survived by her husband, Quinton Choate of Simsboro; two sons, Gary
Choate and his wife Peggy of Simsboro, and Bobby Choate and his wife Kim
of Waxahachie, Texas; four daughters; Penny Moss of Arcadia, Edna Alonis
and her husband Jay of Nashua, New Hampshire; Tammy pepper and her husband
Gerald of Simsboro; and Angie Driggers of Simsboro; two brothers; Charlie
C. Tilley of Jonesboro, and J. W. Tilley of Quitman; three sisters, Beatrice
Kirkham of Shreveport, Edna Mae Ente of Stockton, California, and Mary
Rowell of Ringgold; fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and
a host of friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Richard
"Dick" Tilley and his wife Edna, and one sister, Annie Lee Bruner. Psalm
116:15 says, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."

Mrs. Vona Dee Harper, 78 of North Hodge, died Sunday, May 7, 2000.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at the
Edmonds Chapel with Rev. Tuck Roberts and Rev. Gene Cumpton officiating.
Burial was in the Gayla Traina Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds
Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Harper and the Harper family were long
time members of the Hodge Baptist Church. She served as clerk for the town
of North Hodge for 38 years before retiring in July of 1996. Survivors
include her devoted husband of 62 years, Edwin of North Hodge; one daughter,
Edwina Jones or North Hodge, one son, Douglas Harper and wife Beverly of
Quitman; one sister, Iris Zuber of Whittier, CA; five grandchildren; Jeff
Jones and wife Jody of Jonesboro, Mitch Jones and wife Theresa of Quitman,
Jennifer Reeves and husband Dave of Bossier City, Shelly Dalby and husband
Mark of Batesville, AR, Kelly Walker and husband Phillip of Pitkin; Five
great grandchildren; Lauren Jones, Levi Jones, Leslie Jones or Jonesboro;
and Wade Jones, Logan Jones of Quitman. She was preceded in death by her
parents Tressie and Owens Anderson of Quitman and brother Ralph Elton Anderson

Rueben Knox -- Dubach, LA
Mr. Rueben C. Knox, 82 of Dubach, died Saturday, May 6, 2000 in the
Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston after a short illness. Funeral services
were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2000 at Mt. Zion Church near
Clay with Rev. Jesse Henderson and Rev. Bill Kinman officiating. Burial
was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home
of Jonesboro. Mr. Knox was retired adjuster from Continental Can Company
- Hodge. Survivors include his wife Clara Beth Knox of Dubach; one son
Wayne R. Knox of Dubach; one daughter Faye Pilgreen and husband George
of Dubach. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Sharon R. Agyemang -- Portsmouth, Va.
Sharon Riva Agyemang, 28, a native of Jonesboro, La., died Friday,
April 28, 2000 in Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Formerly of Colorado Springs,
she had been an area resident for the past 18 months. Sharon was a member
of the Gates of Heaven Church of the Living God, International and was
employed as a management analyst with Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport
News, VA. She is survived by her husand, J. Alex Agyemang of Portsmouth,
VA; her parents, Franklin L. and Lula G. Williams of Jonesboro, Louisiana;
one brother, Byron K. Williams and his wife Eloise of Atlanta, Georgia;
one nephew, Tyler J. Williams of Atlanta and a host of uncles, aunts and
cousins. A visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, in the
W.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Newport News, VA, after which a revival
service was held at 7:30 p.m. in the Gates of Heaven Church of the Living
God, International with Bishop Joseph White, the founding and presiding
Bishop of Churches of the Living God, International officiating. Funeral
services will be held in the Langley Air Force Base Chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday,
May 4 with Bishop Joseph White and Pastor Charles E. Robinson officiating.

Mr. Gene Hampton, 71, of Jonesboro died Thursday, April 27, 2000 at

Jeff Davis officiating. Burial was in the Midway Cemetery, 353 Midway Church
Rd. Mr. Hampton was born in Belzoni, MS and was a self-employed brick mason.

Caughlin was preceded in death by her husband Willard Caughlin, her parents,
Thomas and Mittie Walsworth, one brother Brian Walson, one sister Tommie

Mr. Bruce Duane Satcher, 39 of Ruston died Sunday, April 9, 2000 at

Manning officiating. Burial was in the Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery under

Walter John (Bud) Conklin 78 of Jonesboro, died Sunday, April 9, 2000
in the Jackson Parish Hospital in Jonesboro. Rosary was held at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services were held at St. Lucy Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on
Wednesday, April 12, 2000 with Father Bob Leonhardt officiating. Burial
was in the St. Lucy Catholic Cemetery in Hodge under the direction of Edmonds
Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mr. Conklin was a retired businessman. Mr. Conklin
was preceded in death by his parents; Frank Conklin & Margaret McCarthy,
and one niece, Christine Elmore. Survivors include his wife Mary Conklin

Mrs. Lela Prewitt Brunson, 94 of Jonesboro (formally of Archibald)
died Thursday, March 23, 2000 in Jonesboro. Funeral services were held
at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 25, 2000 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. and Mrs. Cage McLemore officiating. Burial was in Lynn Cemetery
in Archibald under the Direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. She was a lifetime
member of the Presbyterian Church where she was treasurer for many years
and an elder at the time of her death. Mrs. Brunson was preceded in death
by her husband, Frank Wray Brunson; her parents, John T. and Hassie Prewitt;
two sisters, Mable McKay and Stella McDonald; and two brothers, Jack Prewitt
and James L. Gowins. Survivors include her daughter, Sarah B. Mathews and
