Services for Mrs. Haywood Migues, 63, the former Mary Alice Abbott, will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Schexnayder and Deacon Ken Waguespack officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today with a 5:30 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.
A native of Jennings and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Migues died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at a New Iberia hospital. 
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and a member of the Third Order Carmalites.
Mrs. Migues is survived by three sons, Haywood "Tony" Migues Jr. and his wife, Peggy Portier of New Orleans, Johnny B. Migues and his wife, Edith Dubois of Henry and Joey T. Migues and his wife, Jodi Comeaux of Broussard; three daughters, Mildred "Millie" Migues of Lafayette, Nancy M. Fontenot and her husband, Roger of Abbeville and Marie M. Bourque and her husband, Marty of New Iberia; one brother, Tom Abbott of Lafayette; one sister, Joann Baudoin of Abbeville; 10 grandchildren, Mandy and Ashley Migues of Henry, Michael and Jacque Migues of St. Martinville, Jerard and Jenna Bourque of New Iberia, Lacey Fontenot of Abbeville, Ashlyn Stoltz and Aline and Joey "J.T." Migues II of Broussard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood Migues Sr.; her parents, Joseph and Mildred Fleming Abbott; and one brother, Shyde Abbott.
Pallbearers will be Haywood "Tony" Migues Jr., Johnny B. Migues, Joey T. Migues, Mike Migues, Roger Fontenot and Jerard Bourque.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Abbott, Marty Bourque and her grandchildren.

Joyce D. Boutte
Services for Mrs. Elton P. Boutte, 51, the former Joyce Dozier, will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Ragalla officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.
A native of Cottonport and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Boutte died at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at a New Iberia hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Elton P. Boutte of New Iberia; two sons, Kevin Boutte and Bryan Boutte, both of New Iberia; one daughter, Rachel Lynn Boutte of New Iberia; one brother; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Corey Camacho, Brian Boutte, Jerry Gerard, Timmy Creighton, Allen Boutte and Chris Fages.
Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Creighton and Jacob Gerard.

Leonce Patin
LAFAYETTE - Services for Leonce Patin, 85, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of the Flowers with the Rev. Russell Harrington Vicar for Priests, Diocese of Lafayette officiating. Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday.
A native of Scott and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Patin died at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 1998, at his residence. 
He worked for the Lafayette Parish School Board until his retirement. Prior to this he had owned and managed Patin's Grocery and had worked for Blue's Laundry and Trappey's Beverage Co.
Mr. Patin is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert and Kathleen Patin of Lafayette and Gerald "Hammy" and Judy Patin of Kaplan; two daughters and their husbands, Jeannel and Dale Dupuis of Lafayette and Linda and Joe Ferguson of New Iberia; three sisters, Mrs. Simon (Gertie) Crochet and Mrs. Edith Alleman, both of Scott, and Mrs. Bernice Bouterse of Corpus Christi, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lily Domingue Patin; and his parents, Louis Patin and Anna Domingue Patin.
Pallbearers will be Robert Patin Jr., Scott Patin, Patrick Dupuis, Chad Dupuis, Robert Breaux and Allan Prejean. 
Honorary pallbearers will be James Lee Martin and Dale Dupuis Jr.

Sallie Landrum
MANGHAM - Services for Sallie Landrum, 83, were held at 10 a.m. today at Lone Cherry Baptist Church with the Revs. Doyle Adams and Richard Brooks officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
A resident of Mangham, Mrs. Landrum died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
She was a member of Lone Cherry Baptist Church.
Mrs. Landrum is survived by one son, Dr. Clyde E. Landrum of New Iberia; two daughters, Rose Marie Hearn of Farmerville and Nanette Crawford of Mangham; one brother, H.E. Vickers of Zwolle; two sisters, Fannie Trichel of Swartz and Maxine Crockett of West Monroe; one sister-in-law, Cleo Saylor of Selina, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Landrum; and a brother, Thomas Vickers.
Pallbearers were grandsons and Deacons of the Lone Cherry Baptist Church.

Eloise S. Simon
ALEXANDRIA – Services for Eloise Stone Simon, 88, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Blount officiating. Interment was in the Greenwood Memorial Park.
A native of Alexandria and resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Simon died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at St. Martinville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Simon is survived by three daughters, Barbara Simon Snell of Lafayette, Eloise Simon Bryant of St. Martinville and Kathryn Simon Monnin of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Justice James D. Simon of St. Martinville.

Cecile G. Claffey
PORT ARTHUR, Texas – Services for Mrs. Cecile Gonsoulin Claffey, 92, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Groves, Texas, with the Rev. Don Golasinski officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur.
A rosary will be recited Monday at 7 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home.
A resident of the Port Arthur/Groves area since 1927, Mrs. Claffey died Saturday, April 11, 1998 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Groves, the Altar Society and the Texaco Retirees.
Mrs. Claffey is survived by two daughters, Hertha McKee and Cynthia Claffey, both of Groves; two sisters, Isabelle Edgerly of Port Arthur and Lorena Angelle of Loreauville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Otto Hebert
Services for Otto Hebert, 78, were held at 11 a.m. today at David Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Guidry officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by VFW Post No. 1982.
A native of Youngsville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hebert died at 2:57 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center.
He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II, a former member of the VFW in New Iberia and he worked at Gragnon's on Weeks Street for more than 40 years.
Mr. Hebert is survived by two sons, Willie Hebert and Willis Hebert, both of New Iberia; one daughter, Shirley Hebert Segura of New Iberia; three grandsons, Tyge Hebert, Shawn Segura and Travis Segura, all of New Iberia; one granddaughter, Angel Hebert of New Iberia; and five great-grandchildren, Cody Hebert, Matthew Hebert, Tiffany Hebert, Courtney Segura and Stephanie Segura all of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Mouton Hebert; his parents, Euphemon and Emelida David Hebert; three brothers, Alva Hebert, Edmond Hebert and Steven Hebert; and two sisters, Judy Hebert Bourque and Anna Mae Hebert.
Pallbearers were Travis Segura, Tyge Hebert, Willie Hebert, Willis Hebert, Scott Segura and Shawn Segura.
Honorary pallbearers were C.J. Bourque and Lester Segura.

Ernie P. Romero
Services for Ernie Paul Romero, 48, will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven Leblanc officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4:30-9 p.m. today with a 6:30 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday. 
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Iberia Medical Center.
He was the business manager for the law offices of Haik and Minvielle.
Mr. Romero is survived by his mother, Rosa Mae Fremin Romero of New Iberia; one brother, Darryl Romero of New Iberia; and two sisters, Joy R. Gerhart and Sylvia Romero, both of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest J. Romero.
Pallbearers will be Jon Breaux, Erroll Babineaux, Jay Bergeron, John Glas, Scott Romero and Darryl Romero.

ST. MARTINVILLE - Funeral services for Alexis A. Pierre Jr., 85, will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Notre Dame Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Mullally officiating. Interment will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Pellerin Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.
A native and resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Pierre died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II.
Mr. Pierre is survived by one son, Alexis Pierre III of St. Martinville; two daughters, Rosemary Pierre of St. Martinville and Evelyn Pierre-Valsin of Lafayette; one brother, Louis Pierre of Lafayette; one son-in-law, Joseph M. Valsin of Lafayette; one daughter-in-law, Sonya Johnson-Pierre of St. Martinville; three grandchildren, Alexis Pierre IV, Seth Pierre and Sarah Pierre, all of St. Martinville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn James-Pierre; his parents, Alexis A. Pierre Sr. and Lorestine Lewis-Pierre; one sister, Angel Mary Pierre; and three infant brothers.

Elie Landry Jr.
DELCAMBRE - Services for Elie "Lulu" Landry Jr., 68, will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Deacon Ken Waguespack officiating. Interment will be in the Migues Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday.
A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Landry died at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at a New Iberia hospital.
He was a retired Iberia Parish School Board Employee.
Mr. Landry is survived by two brothers, Dudley P. Landry and Leroy John Landry, both of Delcambre; and three sisters, Nellie L. Renard, Celia L. Renard and Sylvia L. Delcambre, all of Delcambre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elie and Clodia Landry; three brothers, Willie Jules Landry, Willis Paul Landry and John Clarence Landry.
Pallbearers will be Clifford Renard, Cleve Renard, Michael Delcambre, Cecil Landry, Larry Landry and Wayne Landry.

Eugene J. Bourque

A native of Jeanerette and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bourque died at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 1998, at his residence.
He was employed with Norman Fence Co.
Mr. Bourque is survived by his father, Barnabe Bourque Jr. of New Iberia; one son, Shannon Bourque of Lafayette; one daughter, Mrs. Chris (Leslie) Segura of New Iberia; five brothers, Danny Bourque, Glenn Bourque and Barnabe Bourque III, all of New Iberia, Charles Bourque of New Orleans and Clint Bourque of Jeanerette; four sisters, Mrs. Terry (Noeline) Pichoff of New Orleans, Druella Leonard and Mrs. Herb (Shelia) Rodrigue both of Jeanerette, and Mrs. Sam (Brenda) Garb of New Iberia; his former wife, Linda Bourque Comeaux of Youngsville; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sidonia Trimble Bourque; and one sister, Janice Bourque.

Alton A. Gonsoulin Sr.
Services for Alton Anthony Gonsoulin Sr., 89, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at David Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven LeBlanc, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

A native of Loreauville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Gonsoulin died at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Dauterive Hospital.
He was employed for 45 years at Texaco Inc. as a tool pusher/ supervisor.
Mr. Gonsoulin is survived by his wife, Evelyn Romero Gonsoulin of New Iberia; three sons, Alton A. Gonsoulin Jr. of Houston, Gene J. Gonsoulin of Oneonta, Ala., and Lawrence Michael Gonsoulin of Houma; one sister, Mrs. Maurice (Evelyn) Provost of Loreauville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dedier L. Gonsoulin and Marie Lawrence Mestayer Gonsoulin; one brother, Earl Gonsoulin; and one sister, Mrs. Alvin (Irene) Decuir.
Pallbearers will be Al Gonsoulin Jr., Gene Gonsoulin, Michael Gonsoulin, Al Gonsoulin III, Wade Gonsoulin and Bryan Gonsoulin.

CHARENTON - Services for James "Jamie" Howard Higgins Jr., 32, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Little Pass Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Hodnett officiating. Entombment will be in the Chitimacha Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 6-10 p.m. today at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Friday.
A resident of Charenton, Mr. Higgins died Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at his residence.
He is survived by his mother, Ernestine Ann Johnston Higgins Olds of Charenton; his stepfather, Charles Olds of Charenton; two brothers, Richard "Ricky" Lee Higgins and Vernon "Bubba" James Higgins, both of Charenton; one sister, Elaine "Lulu" Ann Higgins of Charenton; two nieces, Danielle B. Persilver and Sherry M. Higgins, both of Charenton; and one nephew, Richard "Joey" Higgins of Charenton.
Mr. Higgins was preceded in death by his father, James "Hockey" Howard Higgins Sr.; and one brother, David Lyndon Higgins.

JEANERETTE - Services for Lue Ethel Hicks, 61, the former Lue Ethel Fergerson, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alex Lovett Funeral Home with the Rev. Arthur L. Alexander officiating. Interment will be in the St. Peter United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the time of services.
A native of Jeanerette and resident of Chicago for many years, Mrs. Hicks died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at University Medical Center in Lafayette after a brief illness. 
She was a retried registered nurse in Chicago.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by one brother, Clarence Fergerson of Jeanerette; and five special nieces, Cheryl Fergerson of Lake Charles, Violet Fergerson, Angela Fergerson Robertson, Rose Fergerson Garrett and Patricia Yarbrough, all of Jeanerette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hicks; her parents, Elijah and Josephine Collins Fergerson; three brothers, Calvin Fergerson, Wilbur Fergerson and Isiah Fergerson; and one sister, Lucille Fergerson.
Pallbearers will be Brian K. Robertson, Kenneth Bernard, Shelby Davis, Daniel J. Landry, Jubria Lewis and Gregory Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Dorsey Joseph Barras Sr. of Breaux Bridge; her mother, Amelina Boutte Domingue of Charenton; four sons, Raymond Barras and Robert Barras, both of Breaux Bridge, Dorsey J. A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Roy died at 4 a.m. Monday, April 13, 1998, at her residence following a brief illness.
She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and a member of Our Lady of Victory Court No. 63 Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Peter Claver for 62 years, where she held the title of Mistress at Arms for many years.
Mrs. Roy is survived by her husband, Whitney Roy of New Iberia; one son, Leo Roy of New Orleans; one sister, Florence M. Bush of Houston; two sisters-in-law, Edith Butler and Amelia Castillo; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam Allen and Alice Lasalle Allen; one son, Jimmy Roy; one sister, Lillian Allen Jones; and two brothers, Clifton Allen and Clarence Allen.
Pallbearers will be James M. Bush Jr., Irvin M. Celestine, Eric L. Kidd, Wayne Lewis, Lewis Sonn Jr. and Kenneth Kelly.

Sister Mary Denise Fortier
NEW ORLEANS – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Sister Mary Denise Fortier, 78, at 10 a.m. on April 6 in Merry Convent Chapel.
A native of Jeanerette, Sister Denise died April 6 in Memorial Medical Hospital after a brief illness.
Sister Denise attended the Mercy School in Jeanerette and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1936. She professed to her religious vows on Aug. 16, 1939, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1949. Sister Denise earned her master’s from the University of Notre Dame.
From 1939 to 1960, Sister Denise taught in parochial schools, St. Alphonsus, Holy Name of Jesus and St. Francis Xavier in Metairie and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kenner. 
From 1960 to 1990, she completed an educational career of 50 years by serving as a secondary teacher or administrator at Our Lady of Mercy in St. Martinville and Mercy Academy in New Orleans.
During the last decade of her 62 years of Mercy service, Sister Denise computerized the records of the Mercy Alumnae. Members include the graduates of Holy Name of Jesus High, Redemptorist Girl’s High and Mercy Academy.
Sister Denise is the sister of Anna Trahan and Elodie Renoudet, both of New Iberia; Evelyn Nauck of Lafayette, Lydia Thibeaux of Alexandria, and the late Alfred Fortier Jr., Elvise Gravois and Sister M. Agnes Fortier. She is survived by nieces, nephews and Sister M. Emmanuel Fortier and other cousins.
Sister Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Elodie Brown Fortier.

Eunice B. Gautreaux
Services for Eunice B. Gautreaux, 69, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Guidry. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. 
Visitation was from 3:30 -10 p.m. Saturday, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the David Funeral Home of New Iberia, which will reopen at 8 a.m. today and will be open all night until time of services. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. today. 
A native of Franklin and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Gautreaux died at 6:20 p.m. Friday, April 17, 1998, at Lafayette General Hospital.
Mrs. Gautreaux is survived by her husband, Alfred Gautreaux of New Iberia; one son, Marty Gautreaux of New Iberia; two brothers, Leonce Bonin of New Iberia and O’Neil Bonin of Columbus, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Janet) Dronet, Mrs. Danny (Corrine) Hebert, Mrs. Lloyd (Anite) Leblanc and Mrs. Claude (Esther) Vice, all of New Iberia and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Gautreaux was preceded in death by her parents, Marcelus and Elfrida Norris Bonin and three brothers, Bill Bonin, Peter Bonin and Tony Bonin.
Pallbearers will be David Hebert, Ernest Bonin, O’Neil Bonin, Skip Dronet, Tommy LeBlanc and Claude Vice Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Bonin, Farrin Collins and Jimmy Bonin.

John Lewis Sr.
ABBEVILLE – Services for John “T-John” Lewis Sr., 66, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today, with at 7 p.m. rosary in the Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel, which will reopen at 7 a.m. Monday until time of services.
A resident of Abbeville, Mr. Lewis died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at Lafayette General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Rena Mae Derouselle Lewis of Abbeville; seven sons, John Lewis Jr. and John Terry Lewis Sr., both of Lafayette, Kenneth Lewis, Dennis Lewis and Jason Lewis, all of Abbeville, Larry Lewis of Atlanta and Clyde Lewis of San Diego; four daughters, Linda Johnson, Vanessa Levy, Shirley Mitchell and Angela Cessac, all of Abbeville; five brothers, Harold Lewis and Harry Lewis, both of Milwaukee, James Lewis, Jude Lewis and Dalton Lewis, all of Beaumont, Texas; three sisters, Jean Gilliam of Milwaukee, Thelma Jones of Beaumont, Texas, and Yola Section of Breaux Bridge; 41 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Orelia Pete Lewis; three brothers, Joseph Lewis, Albert Lewis and Henry Lewis and one sister, Eunice Noel.
Pallbearers will be Terry Lewis, Larry Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Jason Lewis, Clyde Lewis and Patrick Sampay.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Lewis Jr., Dennis Lewis, Charles Lewis, Issac Julian, Paul Julian and Logis Sampay.

Bertha D. Guidry
ST. MARTINVILLE – Services for Bertha Delahoussaye Guidry, 92, will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday, with a 8 p.m. rosary at the Pellerin Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
A native of New Iberia, Mrs. Guidry died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at the I.H.S. South of New Iberia.
Mrs. Guidry is survived by one son, Norris Guidry of Lake Charles; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Jeanette) Champagne of St. Martinville, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Chastant of Scott and Mrs. Willis (Barbara) Touchet of New Iberia; one sister, Mrs. Johnny (Enola) LeBlanc of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Guidry was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Guidry; one daughter, Ruby Thibodeaux; one brother, Ike Delahoussaye, and one sister, Josephine Debebec.

Robert Odom
EUNICE – Services for Robert L. Odom, 63, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church with the Rev. Jules Arceneaux officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel, which will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Monday until time of services.
A resident of Eunice, Mr. Odom died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 1998, at the Savoy Medical Center.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force and was a supervisor for Guillory Tank Truck Service.
Mr. Odom is survived by his wife, Faye G. Odom of Eunice; one son, William B. Odom of Alexandria; two daughters, Peggy Odom Smith of Carencro and Nancy Odom Fontenot of New Iberia; one brother, C. J. Odom of Eunice and four grandchildren.
Mr. Odom was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Vina Odom.
