A native of Lafayette and resident of Scott for 15 years, Mr. Mendoza died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
He was employed by Lafayette General Medical Center as a security officer for 16 years, formerly employed at the Lafayette Water Plant for 13 years and a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Community.
Mr. Mendoza is survived by his wife of 24 years, Martha Cormier Mendoza of Scott; one son, Joey Mendoza of Ruston; and two sisters, Gaelyn "Gail" Lopez and Rosemary Cormier, both of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Eddie Mendoza Sr. and Bernadette Chaisson Mendoza.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Mendoza's co-workers from Lafayette General's security department.

Mrs. Chaisson is survived by three daughters, Kesha Raychelle Chaisson, LaKendra Denis Chaisson and Chasity Larae Chaisson, all of New Iberia; two brothers, Matthew Bashay of Austin, Texas, and Henry Bashay Jr. of New Iberia; three sisters, Virginia A. Minor, Barbara A. Chaisson and Mary Bashay Simmons, all of New Iberia; and one grandchild, Tra-Kasha Chaisson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Bashay Sr. and Gertie Chaisson Bashay; one daughter, LaShana Chaisson; one brother, Robert Bashay; and two sisters, Shirley Bashay and Evelyn B. Broussard.

Ruth Voorhies Bourque
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 1997, in St. Peter's Catholic Church for Ruth Voorhies Bourque, 87, who died at her residence on December 5, 1997, following a lengthy illness. Monsignor J. Guy Lemoine, pastor of St. Peter's Catholic Church will officiate.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Bourque, a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in 1926, attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, and graduated from Dominican College in 1931. She taught English for many years and retired from New Iberia High School. She was a devoted member of the St. Peter's Church Choir for many years.
She is survived by two sisters, Grace Voorhies Spiller and Irene Voorhies Minvielle, both of New Iberia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Muriel Bourque; by her parents, Paul E. Voorhies and Evie Delcambre Voorhies; by her brothers, Cornelius P. Voorhies Sr. and Richard P. Voorhies Sr.; by a nephew, Alfred J. Voorhies; and a great-nephew, Jerry Joseph Voorhies.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Cornelius P. Voorhies Jr., Dr. Donald J. Voorhies, Dudley P. Spiller Jr., Daniel Spiller, Leon J. Minvielle III and L. Steven Minvielle.

Landry of Metairie; a brother, Tony Landry of Mereaux; three grandchildren, Shannon and Sharon Grigsby and Larry LeBlanc Jr., all of Destrehan; a sister, Mary Lee Derouen of Violet; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Michael Kaufman of Braithwaite; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Shannon A. Caulking
Services for Mrs. Theodore Ray "Teddy" Caulking Sr., 27, the former Shannon Albert, will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike McLaurin officiating. Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. today at Evangeline Funeral Home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services. 
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Caulking died at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997.
She is survived by her husband, Theodore Ray "Teddy" Caulking Sr. of New Iberia; her mother, Patricia Dugan Albert of New Iberia; one son, Teddy Caulking Jr. of New Iberia; two daughters, Christine Albert and Shana Caulking, both of New Iberia; one brother, Duyane Albert of New Iberia; and one sister, Cynthia Barras of New Iberia.
Mrs. Caulking was preceded in death by her father, Harry Albert; her maternal grandparents, Walter and Olive Romero Dugan; and her paternal grandparents, Burton and Edmae Cormier Albert.
Pallbearers will be Gary Garb, Richard Pellerin, Mark Vaughn, Tommy Barras, Alton Albert and Jr. Leger.
Honorary pallbearer will be Duyane Albert.

Lawrence R. Barras
Services for Lawrence Roland Barras, 70, will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Ogea officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
A native of Napoleonville, former resident of Morgan City and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Barras died at 2:43 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at a New Iberia hospital.
He was employed with J. Ray McDermott Fabricators for 25 years, past member of First Baptist Church in Morgan City and a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Mr. Barras is survived by his wife, Selina Violette Barras of New Iberia; two sons, Mark L. Barras and his wife, Jodi Falgout Barras, both of New Iberia, and Charles E. Peavy II and his wife, Clara Mason Peavy, both of Branson, Mo.; three brothers, Manuel L. Barras of Houston, Allen J. Barras and Earl Barras, both of Morgan City; one sister, Hazel T. Ponds of Dickinson, Texas; and six grandchildren, Yogi Barras, Brooks Barras and Emily Barras, all of New Iberia; Debbie Peavy, Bridget Peavy and Charles Peavy III, all of Branson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Enodis and Esma Aucoin Barras; two brothers; and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Charles Peavy II, Earl Barras, Yogi Barras, Brooks Barras, Mark Barras and Allen Barras.
