Novetta Preston
JEANERETTE - Services for Novetta Preston, 84, the former Novetta Edwards, will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fulton Raymond officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Mark Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday at the Alex Lovett Funeral Home and from 5-10 p.m. at the church, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Preston died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Iberia Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a Steward Sister for a number of years, and a member of Benevolent Society No. 5.
Mrs. Preston is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lou Ella Francis of Jeanerette; and one uncle, Rev. Adam C. Johnson Sr. of Kountze, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton Preston; her parents, Mack and Daisy Edwards; two brothers, Mack Edwards and Willie E. Johnson; and one stepson, David Nicholas.
Pallbearers will be members of the immediate family as designated.

Guy A. Durke
Services for Guy A. Durke, 58, will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike McLaurin officiating. Entombment will be in Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today at David Funeral Home, which will reopen from 8-10 a.m. Tuesday.
A native of Patterson and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Durke died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had been in the oil field business for 35 years.
Mr. Durke is survived by his wife, Marlene Oubre Durke of New Iberia; one son, Darin P. Durke of New Iberia; two daughters, Kelly Durke Daigle and Kristine Durke, both of New Iberia; one brother, Marion "Skip" Durke of Beaumont, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. G.A. (Kay) Fortier of Jeanerette and Mrs. Arthur Jerry (Irene) Landry Jr. of New Iberia; and three grandchildren, Abigail Daigle, Allyson Durke, and Blair Durke, all of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raywood L. and Elsie Zellmer Durke; two brothers, Gene Durke and Ray Durke Jr.; and one sister, Dorothy Durke Wilson.
Pallbearers will be Gabe Fortier, Jeff Delahoussaye, Craig Landry, John E. Oubre, Marvin Reeves and Larry Wilcoxson.

A native and resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Dugas died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at her residence.
She was a housewife.
Mrs. Dugas is survived by one son, Cloures Dugas of Loreauville; one daughter, Joy D. Lasseigne of Loreauville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dugas, her parents, Will E. and Edia Crochet Landry; one brother, Wallace Landry; and two sisters, Merdie Berard and Louda Dressel.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Caprillo Milazzo of St. Martinville; two sons, Salvador Milazzo and Joseph Milazzo Jr., both of St. Martinville; four daughters, Mary Ann Marks, Frances Prados, Betty Milazzo and Janice Hayek, all of St. Martinville; one brother, Nick Milazzo of St. Martinville; two sisters, Theresa Russo and Sara Wallace, both of St. Martinville; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A native of Franklin and resident of Port Arthur for 42 years, Mrs. Dickerson died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

He is survived by three sons, Kevin Smith of Jeanerette, Henry Hockless of New Iberia and Wayne Hockless of Alexandria; two daughters, Earline S. Dwyer and Betty Smith of Jeanerette; one sister, Louella Doffoney of Jeanerette; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Bertha Anthony Smith; his parents, Earl James Smith Sr. and Julia Hensley Smith; and one brother, Brunnie Smith.

He was the owner and shop foreman of S&W Machine Shop, a past board member of the Lydia Water Corp., a 1960 graduate of New Iberia High School and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany for four years.
Mr. Semar is survived by his wife, Kathleen "Kitty" David Semar of New Iberia; his mother, Mildred Dugas Semar of Lydia; six daughters, Mrs. Ricky (Karla) Lopez Jr., Mrs. Quintin (Kendy) Medver, Kristal Robicheaux, Kymberly Semar and Nicole Semar, all of New Iberia, and April Semar of Lydia; one brother, Barry Semar of Cypremort Point; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Sandra) Legnon of Cypremort Point and Mrs. Lance (Linda) Prince of New Iberia; his maternal grandmother, Lorena Crochet Dugas of New Iberia; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl J. Semar; his maternal grandfather, Husville Dugas; and his paternal grandparents, John and Aminth Daigle Semar.

He was district manager with Waukesha-Pearce Industries for 26 years and a member of Squirrel Run Golf Course.
Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife, Myrna Hanson of New Iberia; two sons, Blane Hanson of Hulbert, Okla., and Jon Hanson of New Iberia; three daughters, Cheryl Boutte of New Iberia, Julie Johnson of Hazelton, Kan., and Carmen Scott of Florida; one sister, Susie McClendon of Drumright, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mary Ellen Davidson Hanson.

Viator of New Iberia and Brandon Viator of Houston; one daughter, Cynthia Marie Greene of Kaplan; three brothers, Herman P. Viator of Delcambre, Eldridge L. She was a housewife.
Mrs. Mulcahy is survived by one son, Thomas Joseph Mulcahy III of New Iberia; one daughter, Patricia M. Boer of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, USMC Lt. Gen. Francis Patrick Mulcahy; her parents, Jean E. and Marie Barras Bertrand; three brothers, John Bertrand, Louis Bertrand and Maurice Bertrand; and three sisters, Gertrude Bertrand, Marie Bertrand and Jeanne Clark.

Mr. Dugas is survived by his wife, Irma Lee Colar Dugas of Jeanerette; his mother, Julia Landor Dugas of Jeanerette; two sons, Gentry Dugas Sr. and Clyde Phillips Sr., both of Jeanerette; two brothers, Ambrose Dugas Jr. of New Paltz, N.Y., and Lloyd Dugas of Waco, Texas; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A native of St. Martinville and resident of Delcambre for over thirty years, Mrs. Hopkins died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at the Columbia Medical Center of Southwest La.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Hopkins of Lake Providence and Harry Hopkins of Delcambre; one daughter, Dorothy Dore' of Erath; two grandchildren, Melody Hopkins and Kevin Hopkins.
Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Louis Landry and Ameliza Hulin Landry; one brother, Anasta "Pete" Landry; and two sisters, Hilda Trahan and Locadie Landry.
Pallbearers will be James Michaud, Kevin Hopkins, Jerry Landry, Frederick Trahan, Freddie Trahan and Derrell Dore'.
The Martin and Castille Funeral Home Inc. of Lafayette is in charge of arrangements. 

H.J. Louviere
A native of Patoutville and resident of Loreauville, Mr. H.J. Louviere, 89, died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at ISH Heritage South.
He was a retired Iberia Parish school bus driver.
At his request services will be private. An anatomical donation was made to Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans.
Mr. Louviere is survived by his wife, Odette G. Louviere; one son, Cordell G. Louviere of New Orleans; two daughters, Alma Landry of Loreauville and Roslyn Accomando of League City, Texas; one sister, Jane Banta of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Batiste Louviere and Eleanor Etie Louviere; one brother, Fernand "Bill" Louviere; and three sisters, Mae Romero, Ella Golden and Martha Singletary.
