Martha T. Marcantel
JENNINGS - Services for Mrs. Bernard N. Marcantel, 73, the former Martha Tabb deGravelles will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with the Monsignor Vincent A. Sedita officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Miguez Funeral Home Chapel, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
A native of Patterson, former resident of Morgan City and New Iberia and a resident of Jennings for 47 years, Mrs. Marcantel died at 7:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
In 1945 she graduated from SLI (USL) and then taught at SLI. She was also a SLI National Debater and National Orator. In 1972 she graduated from USL with her library certification. Founder of Our Lady Help of Christians Elementary School Library and the librarian for 28 years, she also taught at Our Lady Immaculate Elementary School.
In her early years, she was a radio announcer in Mississippi and an airplane pilot. At OLI she was a 4-H coach and leader for 10 years and OLI basketball statistician. Mrs. Marcantel was a member of the OLHC Adult Choir, a book reviewer for local clubs, a Jefferson Davis Parish Library Board Member and President of that board. She established the first video classroom in Jefferson Davis Parish. 
She was active in the Community Concert series and was instrumental in the selection of visiting artists. She was also a member of the Alumni Association of USL and the Jeff Davis Arts Council. In 1986 she was decorated as a Companion of Honor by the Bishop Jude Speyrer.
Mrs. Marcantel's inspirational zest for life touched the lives of many generations around her.
She is survived by her husband, Judge Bernard N. Marcantel; three sons, David Emile Marcantel and his wife, Simone, Mayor Greg Marcantel and his wife, Jean, all of Jennings and Peter Marcantel and his wife, Tina, of Galveston, Texas; one daughter, Nancy Tabb Marcantel of Lafayette; two brothers, Norbert deGravelles and his wife, Nyada, of Thibodaux, Charles C. deGravelles Jr. and his wife, Virginia, of Lafayette; one foster brother, Roussel deGravelles of California; eight grandchildren, Pierre, Natalie, Chelsea, Angelique, Noel, Joel, Andrew and Anna Marcantel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Marcantel was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Charles C. deGravelles Sr. and Mary Riddle deGravelles; and one daughter, Kathryn Douglass Marcantel. 
The family is especially grateful to her long-time companion, Mrs. Helen Bergeron, and to her faithful household assistant, Mrs. Alice Mayfield.
Memorial donations may be made to the Our Lady Immaculate Elementary School Library in Jennings.

Eleanor G. Jolley

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. - Services for Eleanor G. Jolley, 91, were held Monday at 11 a.m. at Reyman Funeral Home.

A native of Loreauville and resident of Pass Christian, Mrs. Jolley died at 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, 1997, at her residence.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Jordan and her husband, Leonard, of Shreveport, Jackie Davis and her husband, Sam, of Dallas, and Sandra Byrd and her husband, Carmen, of Honduras; one sister, Mrs. Julius (Genevieve) Ransonet of Loreauville; a sister-in-law, Bessie Gonsoulin Cestia; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Jolley was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil P. Jolley; her parents, Husville and Carrie Brown Gonsoulin; one brother, Albert Gonsoulin; and three sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Odette) Broussard, Mrs. S.J. (Marguerite) Segura and Mrs. Albert (Carrie) Darby.

Theola J. Plummer

Services are pending for Theola Jane Plummer, 67, who died at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday in Abbeville General Hospital.

Mary D. Perry
Services for Mrs. Charles A. Perry, 59, the former Mary Alice Dartez, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roland Fontenot, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the St. Marcellus Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday until the time of services.
A native of Iberia Parish, former resident of Decatur, Ala., and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Perry died at 6:34 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, in a New Orleans hospital.
She was employed with the McIlhenny Co. for two years and the Iberia Parish School Board for 13 years as a bus driver. She was a past volunteer with the Rynella Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the American Legion Post 335 Auxiliary.
Mrs. Perry is survived by her mother, Enola Savoy Dartez of Avery Island; one son, John Wesley Perry of New Iberia; three daughters, Denise Perry Clement of Melville, N.J., Tracy Perry Daigrepont of Harrington, Del., and Kathryn Ann Perry of New Iberia; two brothers, Herbert "Boo" Dartez and Gilbert "Pat" Dartez, both of New Iberia; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Janice) Delcambre of New Iberia and Mrs. Raleigh (Kate) Rogers of Avery Island; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Perry; her father, Lelius "Chet" Dartez; and one sister, Barbara Dartez.
Pallbearers will be John Wesley Perry, Tim Clement, Jon Daigrepont, Keith Daigrepont, Bobby Dartez, Richard Delcambre Jr. and John Perez.

David L. Duchane
JEANERETTE - Services for David Lee Duchane, 37, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Alexander officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter United Methodist Church cemetery.

A resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Duchane died at 3:09 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, following an automobile-pedestrian accident.
He is survived by one brother, Willie Duchane of Jeanerette; four sisters, Carolyn Jones of Jeanerette, Ella Duchane Edmond of New Iberia, Jeffanita Gobert of Lafayette and Genevieve Cross of DeRidder; one step-sister, Stella Davis of New Iberia; nine nieces; 12 nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Duchane was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Duchane Washington; his father, Willie Sereal; one brother, Henry Lee Duchane; one sister, Viola Lee Duchane; his maternal grandparents, Benjamin Duchane and Calena Duchane; and two uncles, Wilson Duchane and Rudolph Duchane.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Williams, Troy Levy, Mark Sillman, Barry Hensley, Anthony Rubbins and Curtis Gordon.

ABBEVILLE - Services for Mrs. Theola Jane Plummer, 65, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Briggs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Percell Church officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Home, which will reopen at 7 a.m. Monday with a motorcade traveling to Mouton Cove at 10:30 a.m.
A resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Plummer died at 7:48 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, at Abbeville General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She is survived by two sons, Lennis Plowden and Robin Plowden, both of Abbeville; two daughters, Tammy Levine and Nolia Levine, both of Abbeville; two brothers, Roland Levy and Nathan Levy, both of Abbeville; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Plummer was preceded in death by her parents, Roman Levy and Sally Mitchell Levy; three brothers, Robert Levy, Willie Levy and Buddy Levy; and one sister, Bessie Webb.

Services for Antoine "T-Boy" Fontenette Jr., 53, will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Jolivette officiating. Interment will be in St. Matthew Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.
A native of Loreauville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Fontenette died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at Medical Center of Louisiana in New Orleans following a brief illness.
He is survived by two sons, Felton Fontenette of St. Martinville and Daniel Chargois of New Iberia; two brothers, Leroy Fontenette Sr. and Percy Fontenette Sr., both of New Iberia; two sisters, Gladys Etienne and Elise Roberts, both of St. Martinville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Fontenette was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine Fontenette Sr. and Gladys Jones Fontenette; and two sisters, Angeline F. Roberts and Mae Willa Rush.
Pallbearers will be Antoine Roberts Sr., Andrew Roberts, Melton Etienne Jr., Norris Walker Jr., Bronze Domingue and Melton Etienne III.

Jody D. Ewing
Services for Jody David Ewing, 32, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. Interment will be in Ewing Cemetery in Cypremort Point.
Visitation began today at 11 a.m. and will continue until the time of services with a rosary scheduled for 7 p.m. today.
A native of Franklin and resident of Cypremort Point, Mr. Ewing died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Morvant Fremin Ewing of Cypremort Point; his parents, Agues and Laura Migues Ewing Sr. of Cypremort Point; two daughters, Jana Leigh Ewing and Jerica Ann Ewing, both of Cypremort Point; three brothers, Jonathon Ewing of Tickfaw; Agues "Tim" Ewing Jr. of New Iberia and Chris Ewing of Cypremort Point; and three sisters, Mrs. Steven (Helen) Trundy Sr. of Cypremort Point, Mrs. David (Christine) Andras of Avery Island and Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Ulmer of New Iberia.
Mr. Ewing was preceded in death by one brother, Eric Ewing.

A native of Lafayette Parish and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Maturin died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at a New Iberia hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Adam J. Maturin of New Iberia; one son, James A. "Jimmy" Maturin of New Iberia; one daughter, Pearl R. McLean of St. Martinville; one brother, Gustave Champagne of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Edward McLean, Dale McLean, Becky O'Brien and Jamie Maturin, all of New Iberia, and Wayne Maturin of St. Martinville; seven great-grandchildren, Jason McLean, Cody McLean, Adam McLean, Justin McLean, Kaitlin McLean and Travis McLean, all of New Iberia, and Blaine Maturin of St. Martinville and seven step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Maturin was preceded in death by her parents, Telesphore and Aurelia Vice Champagne; seven brothers, Lester, Joseph, Eddie, Laodis, Walter, Ignace and Theodule Champagne; two sisters, Edna Champagne and Lydia Romero and one granddaughter, Lisa Maturin.

Kennell P. Brown Sr.
JEANERETTE - Services for Dr. Kennell Philip Brown Sr., 71, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating and the Rev. Mark Derise co-officiating. Interment will be in the Beau Pre Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the Landry-David Funeral Home Chapel, which will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
A native of Jeanerette, Dr. Brown died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at his home.
Born in Jeanerette on Jan. 29, 1926, Dr. Brown graduated from Cameron Junior College in Lawton, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army in the European theater during World War II and attended Biarritz University in Biarritz, France. In 1951, Dr. Brown graduated from the Tulane School of Medicine. He served as a family practitioner in Jeanerette from 1953 to 1997.
Dr. Brown was a member of the following medical organizations: the Iberia Parish Medical Society, the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Louisiana Academy of General Practice, the American Academy of General Practice, the American Medical Association and the Louisiana Academy of Family Practice.
He was a member of the following social and civic organizations: the Society of the War of 1812, the Sons of the Revolution, the Boston Club of New Orleans, president of the Jeanerette Chamber of Commerce from 1954-1956, Outstanding Citizen of Jeanerette in 1955, Mr. Jeanerette in 1960, treasurer of the Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival and Fair Association from 1955-1960, president of the Jeanerette Rotary Club from 1958-1959, member of the New Iberia Rotary Club, president of the Iberia Parish Tuberculosis Association 1959-1960, charter member and board member of the Krewe of Andalusia, King of Andalusia in 1991, King of Omardz Mardi Gras Ball in New Orleans in 1973, member and president of the Iberia Community Concert Association, member and president of the Iberia Parish Cultural Resources Association, board member of the Teche Museum of Iberia Parish, member of the Friends of the Shadows-on-the-Teche and winner of the Second Wind Award of Iberia Parish in 1994.
Dr. Brown published a book "The Descendants of Nicholas Provost" in 1957.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Jeanerette, where he served as a lay minister and lector.
Dr. Brown is survived by his wife, Margaret Fox Bingham Brown of Jeanerette; their five children and their spouses, Dr. Margaret Fox Brown Lisecki and Dr. Edward Joseph Lisecki Jr. of Denver, Dr. Kennell Philip Brown Jr. and Dr. Jil Gregg Brown of New Iberia, Thomas Moore Brown and Gisele Arsenault Brown of New Orleans, Louise Bingham Brown Derise and Bryan Michael Derise of Lafayette, Ellen Marie Brown Leonard and Gregory Andrew Leonard of Lafayette; one brother, Carl Joseph Brown of Jeanerette; and nine grandchildren.
Dr. Brown was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Patricia Guiberteau Brown, and father, Philip Harry Brown.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Edward Joseph Lisecki Jr., Bryan Michael Derise, Gregory Andrew Leonard, Frank Russell Courts, Jacques Larroque, Judge Cameron Simmons and William Oakley Bingham III.

Roseanne W. Broussard
LAFAYETTE - Services for Mrs. Adlas J. Broussard, 65, the former Roseanne Wood, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Martin and Castille Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Thibodeaux officiating. Interment will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Maurice.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home, which will reopen at 9 a.m. until time of services Sunday.
A native of St. Louis and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Broussard died at 12:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at her home from lung cancer.
Mrs. Broussard was a veteran of military service and served as a cryptographer at the Pentagon with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary at The Daily Iberian. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Community and the Ladies Altar Society.
Mrs. Broussard is survived by her husband, Adlas J. Broussard of New Iberia; one son, Michael J. Broussard of Sterling, Va.; four daughters, Mrs. Timothy Roy (Suzanne Marie), Elise Annette Broussard and Mrs. Paul Gary (Christine Louise) of New Iberia and Mrs. Jean Andre Beard (Martine Lynn) of Lafayette; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Oliver Wood and Ruby Pearl Mills; and one sister, Alice Wood Shine.
Pallbearers will be Michael Broussard, Andrus Broussard, Timothy Roy, Jean Andre Beard, Paul Gary and Craig Braquet.

A resident of Delcambre, Mr. Roy died at 3:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Abbeville General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Roy was a member of St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church as well as a member of St. Joseph Society of Delcambre.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Decuire Roy of Delcambre; two sons, Lovelace Roy of Hillister, Texas, and Kenneth Roy of Delcambre; four daughters, Melder Thomas of Beaumont, Texas, Joyce Vallot of New Iberia, and Eva Roy and Shirley Roy, both of Delcambre; two brothers, Cleveland Roy and Joseph Victor Roy, both of New Iberia; two sisters, Nolia Guillory of New Iberia and Eunice Guidry of Port Arthur, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Pearl Roy of Delcambre and Sylvia Roy of Hillister, Texas; two sons-in-law; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mr. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, John Edolien and Elvina Derouen Roy, his former wife, Mary Ouida Pitry Roy; a son, Preston Roy; an infant daughter, Glory Ann Roy; a great-granddaughter, Jessica Roy; two brothers, Eugene Roy and Jeffery Roy and two sisters, Dule Dixon and Fanella Dixon.
Pallbearers will be Joey Roy, Dwight Roy, Ceith Roy, Terry Roy, Donald Wayne Roy and Terrance Vallot.

Steve Olander

A native of Biloxi, Miss., and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Olander died at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997 at Maison Teche Nursing Home. He was a retired commercial fisherman and veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.
Mr. Olander is survived by two brothers, Edward Olander and Leo Olander, both of Cypermont Point; and five sisters, Aberta Borel and Mrs. Benjamin (Elizabeth) Rawlins, both of Cypermont Point, Mrs. Norman (Dorothy) Romero of Youngsville, Mrs. Armond (Helen) Roy of New Iberia and Rita Simon of Pasadena, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Frances Rolkosky Olander; two brothers, Andrew Olander Jr. and Sylvester Olander Sr., and one sister, Eleanora Hartman.

Broussard of Sterling, Va.; four daughters, Mrs. Timothy Roy (Suzanne Marie), Elise Annette Broussard and Mrs. Paul Gary (Christine Louise) of New Iberia and Mrs. Jean Andre Beard (Martine Lynn) of Lafayette; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Oliver Wood and Ruby Pearl Mills; and one sister, Alice Wood Shine.
Pallbearers will be Michael Broussard, Andrus Broussard, Timothy Roy, Jean Andre Beard, Paul Gary and Craig Braquet.

Harry J. Landry
BREAUX BRIDGE - Services for Harry "Crip" J. Landry, 56, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2, Breaux Bridge.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge which will reopen at 7 a.m. Monday until time of services.
Mr. Landry died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997 at Lafayette Guest House.
He is survived by four brothers, Rudolph Landry and Vincent Landry, both of Groves, Texas, Leroy Landry of Duson and Willie Landry of Lafayette; and four sisters, Ann Caillier of Groves, Leona Poirier of Cypress Island, Antonia Poirier of Breaux Bridge and Juanita Escagne of New Iberia.
Mr. Landry was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Whitney Landry.

ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Mrs. Cezaire J. Bonin, 76, the former Yolande Latiolais, will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Michaels Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville, which will reopen from 8 a.m. Monday until time of services.
A resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Bonin died at 5:10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997 at her residence.

ABBEVILLE - Services are pending for Thelma Beroude, 86, who died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997 at Abbeville General Hospital following a brief illness.

Alcibiade Trahan
DELCAMBRE - Services for Alcibiade Trahan, 93, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Voorhies officiating. Interment will be in the Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. Sunday until time of services Monday at the funeral home, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday.
A native of Vermillion Parish a resident of Pasadena, Texas, Mr. Trahan died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997 in a Pasadena nursing home. He was a lifelong sugar cane farmer, and he worked at the Jefferson Island Salt Mine.
Mr. Trahan is survived by three sons, Murphy Trahan and his wife Lucille and Rayvis Trahan and his wife Beverly, all of Houston and Francis Trahan and his wife Beth of Pasadena; two brothers; two sisters; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ourille and Azalia Gaspard Trahan and his wife, Marie Benite Trahan.
