COTEAU - Services for Paul Romero, 86, will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Higginbotham officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. 
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary and will continue until the time of services Tuesday at David Funeral Home, which will remain open all night.
A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of Coteau, Mr. Romero died at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Oakwood Village in Lafayette. 
Mr. Romero was a retired Iberia Parish School Board bus driver. 
He is survived by one son, Ernest Romero of Coteau; one brother, Nedas Romero of Coteau; three granddaughters, Christi Romero Bernard and Lori Romero LeBlanc, both of Coteau, and Melissa Bourque of Breaux Bridge; and four great-grandchildren. 
Mr. Romero was preceded in death by his wife, Yola Romero Romero; his parents, Moise "Son" and Zilda Sonnier Romero; and two sisters, Leva Romero Broussard and Avia Romero Richard.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.

Robbie G. Alex
Devoted church member
Services for Robbie Mae Alex, 71, the former Robbie Mae George, will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Norbert officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Memorial Park Cemetery Wednesday after a 10 a.m. dismissal from Journet and Bolden Funeral Home. 
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church, and from 7:30 a.m. until dismissal at the funeral home. 
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Alex died at 12:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Iberia Medical Center. 
Mrs. Alex was a retired St. Martin Parish School Board teacher and a member of the Southern University Alumni Federation, the Mary B. Amos Retired Teachers Association and the ARC Food Net. She was the Mount Calvary Baptist Church food bank director and served as Mount Calvary Missionary Society vice president. 
She is survived by numerous cousins, friends and a godchild. 
Mrs. Alex was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Alex Sr.; and her parents, Robert and Julia Jones George.
Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Woodfox, Rinas Solomon, Clifford Augustine, Ernest Guillory, William Thomas and Bruce Hampton. 
The family requests that all gifts or donations be entrusted to Dorothy Solomon, or to Isabella or LaGuardia Collins.

U.L. DeRouen Sr.
Loving father, grandfather
JEANERETTE - Services for U.L. DeRouen Sr., 71, will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville.
Visitation will be until 10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. 
A native of Patoutville and a resident of Jeanerette, Mr. DeRouen died at 2:05 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Iberia Medical Center.
Mr. DeRouen was a retired roustabout foreman for Brown and Root. 
He is survived by four sons, Elwood, Sherwood and U.L. DeRouen Jr., all of Jeanerette, and Rickey DeRouen of New Iberia; three daughters, Mrs. John (Lorena) Breaux, Lovina D. Sonnier and Mrs. Hoa (Sandra) Tran, all of Jeanerette; one sister, Mrs. George (Mary) Stevens of Jeanerette; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Mr. DeRouen was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah LeBlanc DeRouen; his parents, Traville and Ernestine Guillotte DeRouen; one son, Raywood DeRouen, one brother, Kentwood DeRouen; and one sister, Lorena DeRouen. 
Pallbearers will be Raywood Breaux, Elwood, Rickey, Scott and Sherwood DeRouen, and MacCory Sonnier. 
Honorary pallbearers will be John Breaux, Peter and U.L. DeRouen Jr., Traville and Floyd Frederick Jr., Randy Pepper, Rusty Sonnier and Hoa Tran.

CATAHOULA - Services for Daniel Joseph Courville, 60, will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Rita's Catholic Church. Interment will be held at a later date. 
Visitation will be from noon until 10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at the Dion Hall, which will reopen Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. 
A resident of Catahoula, Mr. Courville died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at a Lafayette hospital.

Elise Weeks
Services for Elise Weeks, 94, are pending. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. 
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at Evangeline Funeral Home. 
A native and resident of New Iberia, Miss Weeks died at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at her residence. 
Miss Weeks was a graduate of Peabody College in Nashville and received a post-graduate degree from Columbia University in New York. She taught in the public school systems of Port Arthur, Shreveport and New Iberia, retiring in 1953. 
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Henry J. (Mildred Weeks) Dauterive of New Iberia; one niece, Ann W. Bowman of Baton Rouge; and five nephews, Dr. Rivers P. Wall Jr. and Dr. David W. Wall, both of Baton Rouge, and Henry J. Dauterive Jr., Dr. Eugene W. Dauterive and Edward T. Weeks III, all of New Iberia. 
Miss Weeks was preceded in death by her parents, Edward T. and Marie Decuir Weeks; one sister, Margaret W. Wall; one brother, Edward T. Weeks Jr., and a nephew, Dr. E. Weeks Dauterive. 
Pallbearers will be family members. 
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America or to a charity of one's choice.

HESSMER - Services for Joyce Mary Gauthier, 82, were held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. James Roy officiating. Entombment was in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum No. 2. 
A resident of Hessmer, Mrs. Gauthier died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. 
Mrs. Gauthier was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was a retired teacher's aide. 
She is survived by her son, Stephen Edlyn Gauthier of Jeanerette; three daughters, Constance G. Ryland of Marksville, and Anita Joyce Mayeux and Kathryn Arceneaux, both of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. 
Mrs. Gauthier was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Gauthier. 
Pallbearers were Shawn C. and Ethan Mayeux, Stephen C. and Blake E. Ryland, Christopher J. and Stephen E. Gauthier II, Daryl R. Langley and Milton Fuqua.

A native of White Castle and a resident of Erath, Ms. Bourg died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Abbeville General Hospital. 
She is survived by her former husband, James C. Stanley of New Orleans; two daughters, Charlee Stanley of Watson, and Stacey Terrebonne and her husband, Neil, of Erath; her future son-in-law, Jessie Ray of Watson; three brothers, Ronald Bourg of French Settlement, Lester Bourg Jr. of Port Allen, and Michael Chambless of Magnolia, Miss.; and two granddaughters, Maci and Neili "Noo-Noo" Terrebonne, both of Erath. 
Ms. Bourg was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Bourg Sr. and Delta Sanchez Bourg; and her stepfather, James Thomas. 
Pallbearers will be James Blanchard, Duane Bourg, Randy Graves, Derrick Lerette, Jason and John Ray, and Rhodie Sanchez.

Marion F. Combest

Memorial services for Marion Frank Combest, 60, will be held at a later date. 
A native of Hobbs, N.M., and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Combest died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, in Plaquemines Parish. 
Mr. Combest was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a marine consultant and was a member of Widell Williams Memorial Museum. 
He is survived by his mother, Octa Ray Combest of Odessa, Texas; one son, Abraham Combest of New Iberia; two daughters, Lisa Combest of Switzerland, and Rachael Kennedy of San Marcos, Texas; two brothers, Bill Combest of Andrews, Texas, and Wallace Combest of Snyder, Texas; and one sister, Carol Bains of Andrews, Texas.
Mr. Combest was preceded in death by his father, Hill Combest.

A native of Franklin and a resident of Jeanerette for many years, Mr. Calhoun died at 3:28 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Lafayette General Medical Center following a brief illness. 
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena Robinson Calhoun of Four Corners; three sons, Charles James McGee of Baldwin, Joseph McGee of Jeanerette, and Steven Calhoun of Four Corners; one daughter, Cynthia Marie Robinson of Four Corners; one brother, Bolden Green of Patterson; two sisters, Emma L. Polidore of Franklin, and Celestine Webster of New Orleans; and nine grandchildren. 
Mr. Calhoun was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Julia Washington Calhoun; and one son, Rory Calhoun.

A native of Charenton and a resident of Franklin for 66 years, Mr. Sinitiere died at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Lafayette General Medical Center. 
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice LaJaunie Sinitiere of Franklin; three sons, Emmett Joseph Sinitiere Jr. "Brother David Sinitiere F.S.C." of Natchitoches, Autry James Sinitiere "Brother Emmet Sinitiere F.S.C." of Nigeria, Africa, and David John Sinitiere of Franklin; one daughter, Loretta Sinitiere Deslatte of Franklin; one brother, LeRoy Sinitiere of New Iberia; his son-in-law, Larry Deslatte Sr. of Franklin; his daughter-in-law, Frances B. Sinitiere of Franklin; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. 
Mr. Sinitiere was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Cyrillia Alleman Sinitiere; two brothers, Johnny J. and Junuis Sinitiere; and his sister, Eloise Mills.

A native of Jay, Fla., and a resident of Franklin, Mrs. Alaniz died at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, in New Iberia. 
Mrs. Alaniz was a security guard. 
She is survived by two sons, Dean Sanders of Union, S.C., and Robert Sanders of New Iberia; five daughters, Rachael Sanders Borres and Gwendolyn Sanders Gaspard, both of New Iberia, Windie Davis Halloran and LaVelle Hodges Landry, both of Morgan City, and Michael "Mickey" Sanders Touchet of Catahoula; two brothers, Frederick W. Brooks of Franklin, and Patrick C. Brooks of Lewisville, Texas; two sisters, Susie E. Massicot of Lafayette, and Patricia B. Rodriguez of Bush; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. 
Mrs. Alaniz was preceded in death by her father, T.J. Holland; her mother, Anna Mae Tyree Brooks; her stepfather, Cloys Brooks; her grandson, Gabriel Suire III; and her sister, Barbara Jean H. Gautreaux.

A native of Shaw, Miss., and a resident of New Iberia for 45 years, Mrs. Deal died at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette following a lengthy illness. 
She is survived by her husband, Otis Deal Sr. of New Iberia; her father, Rosevelt Curry Sr. of Indianola, Miss.; three sons, Otis Deal Jr., Rev. James Deal and David Deal Sr., all of New Iberia; four daughters, Martha Black, Earlene Broussard and Paula Dejean, all of New Iberia, and Vallarie Berard of Lafayette; three brothers, Rosevelt Curry Jr. and Paul Curry, both of Chicago, and Jodie Curry of Bastrop; eight sisters, Daisy Williams, Flora Lewis and Bessie Mitchell, all of New Iberia, Ruby Yarbough of Memphis, Tenn., and Minnie Whitehead, Johnnie Mae Ward, Elizabeth Mitchell and Macy Hughes, all of Chicago; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. 
Mrs. Deal was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia B. Curry; one brother, Redell Curry; and one sister, Hattie Nelson.

ABBEVILLE - Services for Crispin O'brien Sr., 19, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. E.J. Guidry officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. 
A resident of Abbeville, Mr. O'brien died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, upon arrival at Abbeville General Hospital.
He is survived by his father, Alvin Stewart of Abbeville; his mother, Grace O'brien Noel of Abbeville; his stepfather, John Robert Noel of Abbeville; one son, Crispin O'brien Jr. of Abbeville; two brothers, Joshua and Alvin O'brien, both of Abbeville; one sister, Sherita O'brien of Abbeville; his maternal grandmother, Helen Cobb; his paternal grandmother, Genevieve Stewart; and numerous relatives and friends. 
Mr. O'brien was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Raphael Campbell; and his paternal grandfather, Alvin Rice.

A native of Jennings and a resident of Franklin for the last 56 years, Mr. Burleigh died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Lafayette General Medical Center. 
Mr. Burleigh was the owner and operator of Burleigh's Lawnmower Repair Service in Franklin. He was from a family of six brothers and two sisters. 
He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae DeMahy Burleigh; one son, Edgar Burleigh of New Iberia; three daughters, Barbara Hicks of Brownfield, Texas, Linda Legnon of Jeanerette, and Shirley Carter of Franklin; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 
Mr. Burleigh was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Nettie Pearl Stanford Burleigh; and his son, Donnie Ray Burleigh.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Jeanerette for 35 years, Mr. Antoine died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at his residence following a lengthy illness. 
Mr. Antoine was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was retired from Avondale Shipyard in Morgan City. 
He is survived by his wife, Lovenia Lewis Antoine of Jeanerette; three sons, Albert Antoine and his wife, Victoria, of Jeanerette, Alfred Williams of Jeanerette, and Jerry Lewis Sr. and his wife, Roslyn, of New Iberia; five daughters, Helen Chanette, Anna Lewis and Faye Antoine, all of Jeanerette, Evelyn Lewis of New Iberia, and Cynthia Jones of Columbus, Ga.; three sisters, Julia and Cora Antoine, and Amy Roman, all of New Iberia; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. 
Mr. Antoine was preceded in death by his parents, Batiste and Odelia Antoine; three brothers, Gilbert, Junius and Arthur Antoine; three sisters, Lorenza Livingston, and Cecile and Emily Antoine. 
Pallbearers will be Leo Loston Jr., Percy Williams Sr., Forest Lewis, Freddie Antoine, Paul Andrew and James Reed Sr.
