ST. MARTINVILLE - Services for Mrs. Jack E. Knight, 70, the former Christie Resweber, will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Dore Langley officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. 
A native and resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Knight died Monday, March 8, 1999, at a New Iberia hospital.
Mrs. Knight was a member of Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church. 
She is survived by her husband, Jack E. Knight of St. Martinville; one son, Leonard Earl Knight of St. Martinville; two daughters, Kathy K. Pierce and Nancy K. Manning, both of St. Martinville; two sisters, Goldie Koch of St. Martinville and Noonie Stevens of Baton Rouge; and seven grandchildren. 
Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Anna Smith Resweber; and two aunts, Lou Resweber and Nannie Resweber. 
Memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Home at P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, La. 71211-9986.

RYNELLA - Services for Kim Patrick Labit, 39, will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Marcellus Catholic Church with the Rev. Conley Bertrand officiating. Interment will be in Broussard Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home in New Iberia, which will reopen from 8 a.m. Thursday until the time of services. 
A native of New Iberia and a resident of Lafayette, Mr. Labit died at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at his residence. 
He is survived by his mother, Odette Leblanc Labit of New Iberia; three brothers, Joseph Labit of Breaux Bridge, Raymond Labit of Lafayette and Renice Labit of New Iberia; and five sisters, Velma Laviolette, Barbara L. Begnaud, Ruth Hebert and Cynthia Labit, all of New Iberia, and Elsie Smith of Scott. 
Mr. Labit was preceded in death by his father, Elus Labit. 
Pallbearers will be Marcus Hebert, Neil Hebert, Joseph Labit, Raymond Labit, Renice Labit and Gerald Laviolette.

Odette F. Hebert
CHARENTON - Services for Odette Faucheaux Hebert, 87, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Charenton with the Rev. Bill Crumbly officiating.
A native of Loreauville and a resident of Charenton, Mrs. Hebert died at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, 1999, at Franklin Health Care Center.
Mrs. Hebert was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the St. Ann's Altar Society of Immaculate Conception Church. 
She is survived by five sons, Joseph Hebert of Orange, Texas, Gerald Hebert of Jeanerette, Jules Hebert of Baldwin and Louis and Patrick Hebert, both of Franklin; four daughters, Joanne H. Aucoin and Barbara H. LeBlanc, both of Charenton, Patricia H. Bila of Patterson and Cecile H. Bourque of New Iberia; two brothers, Henry and Roy Faucheaux, both of New Iberia; one sister, Rita Echols of Lafayette; 41 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Mrs. Hebert was preceded in death by her husband, Bennett Adam Hebert; her parents, George and Celina Dugas Faucheaux; two brothers, Louis and Jules Faucheaux; four sisters, Clara Guillotte, Mae Guillotte, Cecile Hebert and Emmaline Faucheaux; and two grandchildren.

LAFAYETTE - Services for Payne Jenea Marceaux, infant, will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Martin and Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.

A native of Lafayette, Payne died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Women's and Children's Hospital of Acadiana. 
She is survived by her parents, Jonathan Marceaux and Angela Crochet of Lafayette; one sister, Sadie Crochet of Morgan City; three aunts, Allissa Warren, Andrea R. Anton and Charity Lejeune; her maternal grandparents, Daniel J. and Carla E. Anton of Satsuma; and her paternal grandparents, Margaret "Maggie" Marceaux of New Iberia and Malcolm and Marlene Marceaux of Gueydan.

Services for Boykin G. Savoy Sr., 84, will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Thevis officiating. Entombment will be in the Holy Family Mausoleum. 
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday. 
A native of Jeanerette and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Savoy died at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Dauterive Hospital. 
Mr. Savoy worked for CLECO as a utility construction foreman and retired after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an usher at St. Peter's Catholic Church and a former member of St. Peter's Catholic Church Council. He also served in the Louisiana National Guard. 
He is survived by his wife, Winnie Derouen Savoy of New Iberia; one son, Boykin G. Savoy Jr. of Oviedo, Fla.; two daughters, Cheryl S. Dugas of New Iberia and Judy S. Durio of Arnaudville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 
Mr. Savoy was preceded in death by his parents, Antoine and Cecilia Lagrange Savoy; five brothers, Antoine, Frank, Fred, Luke and Paul Savoy; and two sisters, Lucille Ansley and Valarie Hebert. 
Pallbearers will be Darren Dugas, Glenn Dugas, Neal Durio, Frank Savoy, Matthew Savoy and Boykin G. Savoy Jr. 
Honorary pallbearers will be Everette Ansley, Marvin Hebert, Whitey Hebert, Dean Romero, Denny Romero, Ossie Romero, Fred Savoy and James Savoy.

JEANERETTE - Services for Amy J. Berry, the former Amy Johnson, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Detig S.V.D. officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of services with a 10:30 a.m. rosary at the church. 
A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Berry died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at Iberia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. 
Mrs. Berry was a retired teacher of Iberia Parish School System. She was a member of Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church and was active in many church organizations. 
She is survived by one son, Michael John Berry of Jeanerette; one brother, Carey Johnson of Texas City; two sisters, Melvino Johnson of Texas City and Agnes J. Perkins of Jeanerette; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. 
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Wilson Berry Sr; her parents, Manner and Leaner Johnson; one son, Andrew Wilson Berry Jr.; and one brother, Booker T. Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Thomas H. Brown, Marcus Lyle Brown, Vaughn Travillion Brown, Courtney Cullen Brown, Foster Johnson and Hammond Johnson. 
Honorary pallbearers will be Carey Johnson and Postel Perkins.

Maude W. Spiess
NEW ORLEANS - Services for Maude W. Spiess, 88, the former Maude Walet, were held at St. Agnes Catholic Church in New Orleans. 
A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of New Orleans, Mrs. Spiess died at 8:02 a.m. Monday, March 2, 1999, at her residence. 
Mrs. Spiess was a registered nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans for several years. She and her husband would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary on April 22, 1999.
She is survived by her husband, Herrle Louis Spiess of New Orleans; one son, Michael Spiess of Covington; two daughters, Mary Ann Provost of Loreauville and Alice Rosen of New Orleans; four grandsons, Stephen Rosen of New Orleans, and Kevin, Brian and David Provost, all of Loreauville; one granddaughter, Julie Chamber of New Orleans; one sister, Teresa Walet of Loreauville; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Spiess was preceded in death by her parents, Pliny and Delia Gonsoulin Walet; two sisters, Rita and Lillian Walet; two brothers, Merlin and Howard Walet; and one grandson, Allen Rosen.

Services for Allen Louis Segura, 64, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Mahoney officiating. 
Visitation will be from 4-10 p.m. today at David and Jacquemoud Funeral Home, which will reopen Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. 
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Segura died at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 1999, at V. A. of New Orleans.
Mr. Segura was the owner and operator of Queen City Plaza. 
He is survived by one son, Allen Paul Segura of New Iberia; one daughter, Michelle Segura Comeaux of New Iberia; three brothers, Henry R. Segura and Robert J. Segura, both of New Iberia, and Lloyd D. Segura of MS; three sisters, Olga Segura Greig of St. Martinville, Mildred Segura Landry of Lydia, and Alma Segura Stroud of New Iberia; and four grandchildren. 
Mr. Segura was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Robin and Elise Stansbury Segura; three brothers, Clet, Lee and Orphie Segura; and two sisters, Mable and Vernice Segura.

Alton J. Romero Sr.
Services for Alton J. Romero Sr., 69, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at David Funeral Home with the Rev. Matthew Higginbotham officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. 
Visitation will be from 2:30-10 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. rosary at David Funeral Home, which will reopen Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of services. 
A native of New Iberia and a resident of Coteau, Mr. Romero died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 1999, at his residence. 
Mr. Romero was retired from an insurance company. He served in the Louisiana National Guard. 
He is survived by three sons, Joseph M. Romero of Tiki Island, Texas, and Robert G. Romero and Alton J. Romero Jr., both of Abbeville; one sister, Thelma LeBlanc of Coteau; one brother, Doris Romero of Coteau; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. 
Mr. Romero was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph P. and Eucretia Broussard Romero.

A native of Belle Place and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Beals died at 9:41 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at Dauterive Hospital following a brief illness. 
She is survived by one brother, Murphy Carrier of New Iberia; one special niece, Robby Carrier Bethel of New Iberia, six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 
Mrs. Beals was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Bertha Ransom Carrier; one son, Earl Wallace St. Julien Sr.; one brother, Melvin "Mellow" Carrier; six sisters, Beatrice Smith, Linda Carrier, Eyola Carrier, Ophelia Francis, Celestine Johnson and Mable Mitchell; and one grandson, Keith St. Julien.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and great-nephews. 
Honorary pallbearers will be Warren Bethel, Patrick Carrier, Usey St. Julien, Ray Anthony Bethel and Wendell Antoine Bethel.

Curtis Broussard
Services for Curtis Broussard, 72, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at David Funeral Home of New Iberia, with Father Ted Broussard officiating. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. rosary service at David Funeral Home, which will reopen from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday.
A native of Kaplan and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Broussard died at 1:25 p.m. Friday, March 12, 1999, at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.
Mr. Broussard was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1982 of New Iberia and of the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Broussard worked for 51 years for the Western Auto Store of New Iberia, and was the owner of that establishment for the last 27 of those years.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Dore Broussard of New Iberia; his son, Ronnie J. Broussard of New Iberia; three sisters: Earline Bertrand and Joyce Faulk, both of Kaplan, and Aimee Gilliard of Lake Charles; a grandson, Nicholas E. Broussard of New Iberia, and a daughter-in-law, Babette D. Broussard of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Broussard and Lovenia Dartez Broussard.
Pallbearers will be Doris Bertrand, Allen Dore, Nerry Dore, Tommy Dore, Todd Humphries and John Saunier.

Howard R. Romero
LAFAYETTE - Services for Howard R. Romero, 68, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of the Flowers, with the Rev. Wayne Richard, retired, officiating. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
A native of Port Arthur, Texas, and former resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero died Wednesday at his residence in Lafayette.
Mr. Romero was a 40-year resident of New Iberia and was a graduate of New Iberia High School.
Mr. Romero is survived by his wife, Genevieve Seneca Romero of Lafayette; one son, Glynn Romero of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Karen Romero of Lafayette; one grandson, Sean Swihart of Lafayette; two sisters, Lula Mae Boutte and Jeanette Heitman, both of New Iberia, and one brother, Ronnie Romero of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Romero and Elina Viator.
Pallbearers will be Glynn Romero, Ronnie Romero, Sean Swihart, Ernie Richard, Cal Seneca and Kenneth Heitman.

Philip W. Davis
SHERMAN, Texas - Philip Davis, 31, and a recent resident of Heritage Country Manor, triumphantly departed this life Wednesday, March 10, 1999. Graveside services at Holloway Cemetery were held Friday, March 12, with Sam Sidders of Van, Texas, conducting the service. Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
Philip was born March 3, 1968 in New Iberia, the son of Glenn and Jane (Grimsley) Davis. He was born with congenital mental retardation and was a quadriplegic his entire life. Philip resided with his parents for 17 years, and was a resident of Pinecrest Development Center in Pineville, La., for 13 years. Even though he could not talk, his eyes and smile showed love to everyone he met. Philip continued to show a special love and awareness for his family until his last day. Thank you, God, for sharing Philip with us!
Philip is survived by his loving parents, Glenn and Jane Davis of Luella, Texas; his sister, Glenda Watson and her husband, Larry, of Luella; his brother, James Davis and his wife, Becky, of Richmond, Va.; two nephews, Jeffrey Davis and James Watson, and three nieces, Claire, Katie and Emily Davis.

PATTERSON - Services for Tina Gant, 20, will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. C. H. Handy of Baton Rouge officiating. Interment will be in at Patterson Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A native of Havre de Grace, Md., and a resident of New Iberia, Ms. Gant died Thursday, March 11 at Iberia General Hospital.
Ms. Gant is survived by her parents, Charlie Jr. and Minnie Gant of New Iberia; two brothers, Albert Mood Gant of San Antonio, Texas, and Charlie Gant III of New Iberia; one sister, Kayla Renee Gant of New Iberia; her paternal grandparents, Charlie Sr. and Doris Gant of Patterson, and her maternal grandparents, Eugene and Pearline Mood of Elloree, S.C.
