in Woodmere, Ohio. He was a member of East Mount Zion Baptist Church in
Cleveland.

1, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Owensboro native was a farmer
and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Beech Grove.

MAGAN -- Colleen Bean, 95, of Magan died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at Ohio
County Hospital in Hartford. The Fordsville native was a homemaker and
member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Her husband, Roy Bean, died in

EVANSVILLE -- Donald L. Carrico, 58, of Evansville died there Saturday,
Dec. 2, 2000, at his home from cancer. The Daviess County native was employed
by Whirlpool Corp. and was a member of IUE-AFL-CIO Local 808. He enjoyed
fishing and golfing and was a member of Whirlpool Golf League.
Marjorie 'Margie' Keown
Marjorie "Margie" Keown, 70, of 311 Redbud Road, Owensboro, died there
Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000. The Hancock County native was a homemaker and member
of Hawesville Baptist Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel. Her husband,
J.C. "Jay" Keown, died Oct. 7, 2000.
Noble W. Teague
MADISONVILLE -- Noble W. Teague, 75, of Madisonville died Friday, Dec.
1, 2000, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville from cardiac arrest. The Muhlenberg
County native was a member of First Christian Church and had retired from
Peabody Coal Co. as director of preparation. He was a World War II Army
veteran and had received the Bronze Star. His son, Donald A. Teague, died
April 1, 1996.
Leonard F. Wheatley
HARDINSBURG -- Leonard F. Wheatley, 85, of Hardinsburg died there Friday,
Dec. 1, 2000, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. The Breckinridge County
native retired from the Army and the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier.
He was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church. His son, Charles Franklin
Burdette, died in 1997.
Alvah Lee 'A.L.' Northern
Alvah Lee "A.L." Northern, 86, of 2722 Veach Road, Owensboro, died
Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County
native was a retired mechanic and oil field worker. He was a member of
Mount Carmel Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren
and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Burgess Northern,
on May 8, 1999, and two sons, Larry Northern in October 1998 and Wendell
Northern in 1938.

was a retired farmer and member of Calhoun United Methodist Church. He
was a World War II Army veteran and had received the Purple Heart. He was
a member of McLean County VFW Memorial Post 5415 and enjoyed hunting.

Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Oakwood Health Campus from cancer. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Linus Howell and her son, Steven Howell.

Arlene Park Sterett, 74, of 4530 Condor Place, Owensboro, died there
Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at her home. The Derby, Ind., native had worked

2000, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County
native was a homemaker and member of Mud River Union General Baptist Church.

LEOPOLD, Ind. -- Charles "Eddie" Allinger Jr., 52, of Leopold, died
Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Norton Hospital in Louisville from cancer.
The Perry County native was a carpenter supervisor for Badgett Construction
Co. in Louisville and was a 1966 graduate of Tell City High School. Hew
enjoyed boating, woodworking and gardening.

LEITCHFIELD -- Theodore A. "Ted" Nalley, 76, of Leitchfield died Thursday,
Nov. 30, 2000, at his home. The Daviess County native was a Navy veteran
of World War II and the Korean War. He retired from civil service at the
Long Beach, Calif., shipyards and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and
the American Legion.

Nov. 30, 2000, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a brief illness.
The Hopkins County native attended First Assembly of God Church. Her husband,
William Neal Messamore, died July 18, 1999.

William Robert Miller, 83, of 4521 New Hartford Road, Owensboro, died
Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Wayne County
native retired from General Electric after 22 years. He worked for Green
Coal Co. and was a member of New Focus Community Church. He was a member
of Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed working in the yard and working
in church.

County, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at her home. The Breckinridge County
native was a housewife and a Methodist. Her husband, Francis Pile, died

Nov. 29, 2000, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Daviess County
native graduated from Owensboro High School. He was a retired master electrician
and member of First Baptist Church. He was the former owner of Veazey Electric
and Wilson Bros. Amusement Co. He worked at Western Kentucky Gas, Cole
Bros. Circus and Beech Bend Park and was a member of Electrical Clearinghouse.

Nov. 30, 2000, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Ind. The Ghent native
was a member of Freewill Baptist Church. She was a volunteer for the church's
school, Cornerstone Christian School, and enjoyed spending time with family.

HARDINSBURG -- The Rev. D. Lamar Mattingly, 72, of Hardinsburg died
Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Breckinridge Memorial Nursing Facility in Hardinsburg.
The Roff native retired as a Methodist minister from the Louisville Conference
in 1990. He served at Breckinridge Street United Methodist Church in Owensboro
and Trinity United Methodist churches in Owensboro and Utica. He served
in other Kentucky churches including Hardinsburg and Louisville circuits.

Nov. 27, 2000, at VA Medical Center in Dayton. He was an Air Force veteran
of World War II and had retired from General Motors after 32 years. He
was a member of Far Hills Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting.

CANNELTON, Ind. -- Leona Drake, 79, of Cannelton died Tuesday, Nov.
28, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System of heart failure. The Evansville
native was chairwoman of the executive board and Indiana veterans home
committees of Harry G. Myers American Legion Post 142 Auxiliary in Cannelton,
where she was a member for 24 years. She was past president of Veterans
of Foreign Wars Post 2939 Auxiliary in Tell City.

Helen Kennedy, 74, of 765 Dixiana Drive, Owensboro, died Saturday,
Nov. 25, 2000, at her home. The McLean County native had worked at General
Electric. She was a retired photo colorist and was a homemaker. She was
a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and enjoyed reading, sewing
and flower gardening. Her husband, Aubrey Kennedy, died Sept. 4, 1997.

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Marvin Powers, 70, of Lancaster died Monday, Nov.
27, 2000, at Ephrata Hospital. The Richland, Ind., native attended Indiana
University. He graduated from and formerly taught at Lancaster Bible College.
He retired from Aberdeen Proving Grounds in 1970 and was a member and former
deacon of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He was an Army veteran
of the Korean and Vietnam wars and a retired lieutenant colonel. He was
preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Jones Powers.

Nov. 28, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The McLean County native
was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church.

Sharon Gayle Lancaster Pate, 53, of 245 Coast Guard Lane, Owensboro,
died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess
County native had worked as a secretary for Quality Oil and Pate Equipment.
She was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church and the church's Abundant
Life Sunday school class. She was involved in establishing the local multiple
sclerosis support group and enjoyed singing. She was known for her religious
devotion.

HARTFORD -- William Peter Minneman, 87, of Hartford died Tuesday, Nov.
28, 2000. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native retired as a lumberyard manager and
truck driver. He was a Presbyterian, a founding member of Little League
in Chester, N.Y., and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

GREENVILLE -- Earl McPherson, 65, of Greenville died there Tuesday,
Nov. 28, 2000, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a brief illness.
The Muhlenberg County native was a member of Carter Creek Missionary Baptist
Church. He retired from E. A. Cohen and Son Hardware Store in 1992 after
41 years, was a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge 244 and enjoyed trapshooting.
Ruby Inez Lazenby
COULTERVILLE, Ill. -- Ruby Inez Lazenby, 94, of Coulterville, formerly
of Owensboro, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Coulterville Care Center.
The Liberty Hill, Texas, native graduated from the College of Industrial
Arts in Denton, Texas. She taught in public school in Oklahoma and in business
college before marrying. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church
and formerly taught the women's Sunday school class. She was active in
Gideons International and in Thruston school PTA. Her husband, Walter S.
Lazenby, died May 6, 1989.
Golda A. Banks
LEWISPORT -- Golda A. Banks, 100, of Lewisport died Tuesday, Nov. 28,
2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Hancock County native was a
member of First Baptist Church of Lewisport. She was preceded in death
by her husband, George Dewey Banks, on Feb. 1, 1998; a son, Carl Banks;
and two daughters, Georgetta and Eugenia.

CENTERTOWN -- Charles Burkhart, 81, of Centertown died Sunday, Nov.
26, 2000, at his home. The Harlan County native retired from Peabody Coal
Co. at Ken Underground. He was a member of UMWA and American Legion Post
296 and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a veteran of World War II and a
member of Merrills' Marauders. He served in China, Burma and India and
received a Bronze Star.

BEAVER DAM -- William Garfield Howard, 47, of Beaver Dam died Saturday,
Nov. 25, 2000, in Hammond, Ind. The Chicago Heights, Ill., native was the
owner/operator of Howard's Pawn, Howard's Laundromat and Howard's Rentals.

Loraine E. 'Mama T' Maddox
NORTONVILLE -- Loraine E. "Mama T" Maddox, 85, of Nortonville died
Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. The
Butler County native was a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church in Drakesboro,
where she served on the missionary society board. She was a retired seamstress
and homemaker. Her husband, Willie Maddox Sr., died in 1976, and a son,
Charles E. Maddox Sr., died in 1976.

BEAVER DAM -- Daisy Mae Phelps, 95, of Beaver Dam died Sunday, Nov.
26, 2000, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. The Butler County native
was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Butler County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loddie W. Phelps, on March 10,
1973; and two sons, Wilbert "Bill" Phelps, on June 15, 1998, and Ivan Ray
Phelps, on June 23, 1983.

Wayne Phillip Walters, 73, of Whitesville died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000,
at Wellington Parc. The Hymera, Ind., native retired from the federal government
in 1983. He was an engineer for Voice of America, was a Navy veteran of
the Korean War and enjoyed riding motorcycles and fishing.

The Owensboro Native retired from Harry Holder Ford after 38 years. She
was a member of First Baptist Church and Joy Sunday School Class.

Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Spencer County,
Ind., native was a member of St. Stephen's Cathedral. She was a 1986 graduate
of Brescia College with a bachelor's degree in sociology. She was a former
counselor for Green River Comprehensive Care and a member of Alcoholics
Anonymous.

Nov. 26, 2000, at his daughter's home in Owensboro. The Massillon, Ohio,
native was a retired philosophy and religion professor emeritus from Kentucky
Wesleyan College. He graduated from Westminster College, New York Biblical
Seminary and Boston University. He was a retired minister from the Detroit
Methodist Conference and member of Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church.
He was a Kentucky Colonel. His wife, Winifred Warren Rogers, died Aug.
11, 2000.
