Verna R. Hedrick, Henderson, formerly of Washington, Ind., died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at her home here.
She was a member of the Christian church and the Garden Club in Owensboro for many years. She was also a volunteer for Mercy Hospital and The American Red Cross of Owensboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who died in 1975 and one son, Keith R. Peachee, who died in 1942.
Survivors include one daughter, Eugenia Peachee Utley of Henderson; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Revs. Don Benningfield and Sue Meuth will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.

Emory Joe Glover Jr., 46, Henderson, died at 2:38 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville due to heart failure.
Of the Catholic faith, he was a member of the Carpenter's Local 90.
Survivors include his companion, Cathy Basinger of Evansville; two daughters, Jessica Lynn Slocum and Katherine Frances Glover, both of Evansville; one son, Emory Joe Glover III of Morganfield; his mother, Betty A. Roberts of Evansville; his father, Emory Joe Glover Sr. of Union, W.Va.; three sisters, Susie Littlepage of Henderson, Diana R. Billings of Reed and Carol Isaccs of Newburgh, Ind.; one brother, Roger Tompkins of Evansville; one grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. Father Ted Temple will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery in Marion, Ky.

Juanita Rideout, 80, Little Dixie, died at 9:33 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of Dixie United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W., who died in 1989, and a son, Paul Wayne Rideout, who died in 1994.
Survivors include one daughter, Dana Stone of Little Dixie; four sons, Vernon Rideout, Kenny Rideout and Randall Rideout, all of Poole, and Dorris Rideout of Little Dixie; one sister, Virginia Hailman of Little Dixie; two brothers, J.W. Taylor of Indiana and Billy Wayne Taylor of Dixon; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Geraldine Stewart, 78, Henderson, died at 9:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at her home.
She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Booker T.; two daughters, Barbara Dixon of Henderson and Brenda Petrie of Owensboro; one brother, James Suggs of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Louise Moss Chandler
Louise Moss Chandler, 90, Zion, died at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Methodist Hospital.
She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, and operated the Burgoo Bowl in Zion for 15 years until its closing in 1962.
Survivors include her husband, Starling W.; and three nieces.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson.

Gwen P. Logan
Gwen P. Logan, 74, Henderson, died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at Methodist Hospital.
A member of First United Methodist Church, she was a 1947 graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism, and was a University of Kentucky Alumni Association Life Member since 1974. She was also an American Contract Bridge League Junior Master.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wesley "Bill" Logan, who died June 22, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Logan Nelson of Grand Forks, N.D., and Becky Logan McGinnis of Henderson; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald R. Benningfield will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

DIAMOND, Ky. -- Virgil "Buddy" Vaughn, 67, died at 7:03 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
A member of Diamond Baptist Church, he was retired from Island Creek Coal Company. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 5484.
Survivors include his wife, Dana Brantley Vaughn; one daughter, Dana Stewart of Providence; one son, Dennis Vaughn of Providence; one sister, Shirley Melton of Diamond; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Melton Funeral Home in Providence. The Revs. James McDaniel and Wesley Hedgepath will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Providence.

HOPKINSVILLE -- Ina Ruth Hale, 81, Hopkinsville, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at her daughter's home in Henderson.
She was a native of Ethridge, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen Eugene Wilson and her second husband, Noel Durwood Hale.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Gregory of Henderson, Betty Abbott of Corydon, and Patricia Houchens of Hopkinsville; a foster daughter, Jo Anne Ayers of Winter Springs, Fla.; a brother, George Elbert Benson of Hopkinsville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; two step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

HOPKINSVILLE -- Loyd W. Ford, 70, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at his home here.
A farmer and businessman, he was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a former member of the Elks and the Kentucky Beer Wholesalers Association. He was also a member of the Kentucky Horsemen Association and the Kentucky Cattlemen Association.
He was preceded in death by a son, Loyd Ford Jr., who died in 1990.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Waters of Lawrenceville, Ga., Donna Kranz of Cadiz, and Debbie Crelly of Kennesaw, Ga.; one sister, Gladys Hayes of West Memphis, Ark.; one brother, Richard Ford of Bebee, Ark.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.

She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her companion of 26 years, Billy Ray Jackson of Spottsville; one daughter, Karen Tron of New Harmony, Ind.; five sons, Terry Woodward of Somerville, Ala., Steve Woodward of Arab, Ala., John Donald Woodward Jr., James Michael Woodward and Mark Edward Woodward, all of Evansville; two sisters, Teeda Nelson of Hayden, Ala., and Margie Casper of Seattle, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mildred Irene Hay, 85, Henderson, died at 4:08 a.m., Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Henderson, where she served on the Mothers Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John G., who died in 1966.
Survivors include three daughters, Katherine Hayden and Sarah Hawes, both of Henderson and Addie Hayden of Evansville; eight sons, James A. Hay of Los Angeles, Leslie W. Hay, Larry E. Hay Sr., Ira D. Hay Sr., Robert L. Hay and Maurice Hay Sr., all of Henderson, George H. Hay of Waverly and Cornelius E. Hay Sr. of New Albany, Ind.; 30 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was of the Baptist faith and a retired beautician.

He was a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Ann; one stepdaughter, Kathy Monsour of Morganfield; one son, Gary Messamore of Uniontown; one stepson, Frank Mathis of Henderson; one sister, Carolyn Duncan of Uniontown; two brothers, Daniel Messamore of Uniontown and Keith Messamore of Morganfield; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

TURGIS -- Joe L. Bumpus, 84, Sturgis, died at 7:10 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Morganfield.
He was a deacon at Mount Olive Church and was retired from Island Creek Coal Company. He was also a member of DeKoven Masonic Lodge and the United Mine Workers of America.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Magnolia, who died in 1998, and one son, Billy Gene Bumpus, who died in 1962.
Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Henshaw of Henshaw, Ky., Rosene Lewis of Marion, Ky., and Sue Norris of Sturgis; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. Brothers Don Collins and Jim Lane will officiate. Burial will be in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.

Survivors include one daughter, Libby Brown of West Melbourne; one son, Matthew Wilson of Las Vegas; one sister, Betty Neff of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Hayes Payton and Leonard Payton, both of Elizabethtown; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Strouse, who died in 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn L. Wilhite of Evansville and Mary W. Brand of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one son, William H. Strouse of Henderson; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
