Eva Mae Watson Haydon Burke

Eva Mae Watson Haydon Burke, 72, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at her residence. A Nelson County native, she was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and was retired from Bryant Distributing Company as a sales representative. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Academy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bradley and Lillian Greenwell Watson; her first husband, Julian C. Haydon; her second husband, Randall Y. Burke; and a brother, William B. Watson. Survivors include four sons, Brad Haydon of Elizabethtown, Artie Haydon of Cox’s Creek, and Jimmy Haydon and Charlie Haydon of Bardstown; two daughters, Lulu Mary Brzozka of Cox’s Creek and Linda Caulk of Finley; a sister, Eula Watson Koppel of Louisville; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Pepper Elliott officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. today at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. 

Shedy Glenn

Shedy Glenn, 80, of Radcliff, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at his residence. He was a deacon chairman and trustee of Meadowlawn Baptist Church in Valley Station. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Glenn. The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Meadowlawn Missionary Baptist Church in Valley Station with the Rev. O.H. Dunning Sr. officiating. Burial will be in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. 

Helen Marie Kersey

Helen Marie Kersey, 71, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. A native of Tazewell, Va., she was a member of First Christian Church in Radcliff and a former member of Eastern Star in Radcliff. She was preceded in death by a brother, Peery Linkous, and a sister, Mildred Whitaker. Survivors include her husband, Pete Kersey; a son, Ron Kersey of Houston; two daughters, Brenda Murray of Elizabethtown and Amy Schultz of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Randall Linkous of Tazewell, Va., and Ralph Linkous of Sparta, Ohio; two sisters, Lucille Repass of Tazewell, Va., and Manzie Buck of Sparta, Ohio; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Ronny Raines officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens at a later date. Visitation begins 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Melodye Clymer Nunn

Melodye Clymer Nunn, 50, of Horse Cave, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave. A native of Hart County, she was an office manager at American Wood Products and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Dwight Burd of Glasgow; her mother, Louise Clymer of Horse Cave; her father, Hartwell P. Clymer Sr. of Cave City; two brothers, Hartwell P. "Sonny" Clymer Jr. of Rowletts and Michael G. Clymer of Elizabethtown; a grandson; and a special friend, Greg Dennison. The funeral is 2 p.m. Central time Thursday at Winn Funeral Home in Horse Cave with burial in Cosby Cemetery. Visitation begins 1 p.m. Central time today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society. 

Margaret Marie Talley

Margaret Marie Talley, 92, of Magnolia, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. She was a member of Pikeview Baptist Church in Hart County. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mont Puckett and Bronger Talley. Survivors include five nieces, Christine Bowen and Mary Elizabeth Skelley of Louisville, Bonita Skelley and Hazel Wright of Magnolia and Leota Vaughn of Upton; four nephews, Rufus Jewell and W.T. Jewell of Munfordville, William Hanford Jewell of Louisville and Ray Jewell of Magnolia; and a sister-in-law, Ora Jewell of Glasgow. The funeral is 2 p.m. today at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Roger Pepper officiating. Burial will be in Pikeview Cemetery in Hart County. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home.

Lula Ellen Harrod

Lula Ellen Harrod, 87, of Mount Washington, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. A native of Hardin County, she was preceded in death by her parents, C.W. and Mary Jane Hilton Sadler; and her husband, Charles Harrod. Survivors include a daughter, Doris Date of Tallahassee, Fla.; a son, David McGuffin of Mount Washington; six sisters, Gracie Suddeth, Aline Blair, Hazel Fehr, Odell Preston and Gladys Shawler, all of Hardin County, and Edna Barnes; and three brothers, Tommy Sadler, Paul Sadler and Eugene Sadler. The funeral was Feb. 1, at Schoppenhorst, Neurath & Brooks Funeral Home in Louisville with the Rev. Jeff Anders officiating. Burial was in Cave Hill Cemetery.

Marguerite Leasor

Marguerite Leasor, 76, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at Woodland Terrace Health Care Facility. A native of Jefferson County, she was a member of Glendale Christian Church where she started the nursery and ran it for 15 years. She was a member of Shively Homemakers and Glendale Homemakers, and she did volunteer work at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Morris E. Leasor Sr.; two sons, Morris E. Leasor Jr. of Elizabethtown and Gary Dale Leasor of Fair Haven, N.J.; two daughters, Sharon Wagoner of Lexington and Sherry Leasor of Greenville, Ind.; a brother, Chester Beckham of Bowling Green; a sister, Mary T. Leasor of Louisville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday at Glendale Christian Church with Brother Mike Bell officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Christian Cemetery. Visitation is 2:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and after 11 a.m. Thursday at Glendale Christian Church. Mary Ruby McDonald

Mary Ruby McDonald, 80, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at The Colonial House Health and Rehab Center in Bardstown. She was formerly of Louisville, a member of The Heartland Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, a Casey County native and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis and her parents, James Stanley and Bertha Helm Steen. Survivors include two sons, Carroll McDonald of Radcliff and Joseph McDonald of Louisville; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Heartland Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Lincoln Varney officiating. Burial will be in the Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Carl George Timpe

Carl George Timpe, 60, of Louisville, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 at Caritas Medical Center in Louisville. A former resident of Jefferson and LaRue counties and Toledo, Ohio, he was a retired employee of the old Reliance Universal, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Daniel Boone Amvets Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2921 and Third Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Connelly; a son, Patrick Timpe of Louisville; a sister, Marilyn Dowidat; and four grandchildren. The funeral was Feb. 1 at Nunnelley Funeral Home in Louisville; burial was in Lebanon National Cemetery in Marion County.

Naomi Lynn Jones

Naomi Lynn Jones, 19, of Radcliff, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was a graduate of North Hardin High School and attended Stithton Baptist Church. She was a data entry assistant at United Parcel Service in Louisville. She attended Jefferson Community College in Louisville, Elizabethtown Community College and Kentucky Tech in Elizabethtown. Survivors include her parents, David and Linda Norris of Radcliff; her father, Terry Jones of Brandenburg; a brother, Bryan Jones of Radcliff; a stepbrother, Marvin Jones of Hagerstown, Md.; a stepsister, Shawn Jones of Guston; maternal grandparents, Don and Ann Lyman of Tonawanda, N.Y.; paternal grandmother, Naomi Jones of North Carolina; and step-grandfather, Bernard Norris of Louisville. The funeral is 3 p.m. today at Stithton Baptist Church in Radcliff with Dr. Walter Davis officiating. Burial will take place in North Hardin Memorial Gardens. Dessie E. Chamberlain

Dessie Chamberlain, 87, of Ekron, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at Flaget Hospital in Bardstown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eathen Chamberlain; a son, W.W. Chamberlain; and a daughter, Delores Chamberlain. Survivors include a son, Thomas Chamberlain of Ekron; two brothers, Charlie Thompson and Garland Thompson; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The service is 11 a.m. Monday at Garnettsville Cemetery in Muldraugh with Pastor James Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Theresa Marie Fulkerson

Theresa Marie Fulkerson, 69, of Flaherty, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was a native of Aschaffenburg, Germany. She worked for the civil service in several positions, as well as the Bank of North Hardin. She also belonged to the Minnie Selby Memorial Court #3 of Amaranth. In the court, she served as Royal Matron and in other Offices of the Grand Court. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verlon William Fulkerson; and her parents, Antonia and Johann Goetz. Survivors include a son, Michael Fulkerson of Vine Grove; a daughter, Linda Cook of Flaherty; two brothers, Alfred Goetz of Stuttgart, Germany and Karl Goetz of Hanover, Germany; two sisters, Else Pochanke and Rita Luckel, both of Aschaffenburg, Germany. The funeral is 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin Catholic Church in Flaherty with the Rev. Thomas A. Smith officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Monday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Vine Grove. Ezra Michael ‘Mike’ Grimes

Ezra Michael "Mike" Grimes, 43, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, in San Antonio, Texas. A 1975 graduate of East Hardin High School, he had served in the U.S. Air Force. He taught special education and was a karate instructor in Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Ezra E. Grimes. Local survivors include his mother, Anna Bell Grimes of Elizabethtown; a brother, Howard Grimes of Rineyville; and two sisters, Lois Grimes of Elizabethtown and Margaret Meredith of Glendale. Survivors from San Antonio, Texas, include his wife, Oralia Grimes; a son, Michael Grimes; and twin daughters, Jacquiline and Stephanie Grimes. Funeral and military rites were Jan. 27 in Texas. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Berean Baptist Church in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Richard Trumbo officiating.

Robert Earl Shepard, 66, of Vine Grove, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie; and a brother, Charles. Survivors include two daughters, Gail Marie Tucker and Linda Darlene Shepard of Vine Grove; a son, Robert Gene Shepard of Vine Grove; his mother, Lillie Parrish of Dothan, Ala.; a sister, Sara C. Dean of Dothan, Ala.; four brothers, Aubrey Lee Shepard and Billy Joe Shepard of Dothan, Ala., Gerald E. Marylee Wilson

Marylee Wilson, 78, of Horse Cave, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Horse Cave and first vice president of the Kentucky State Baptist Women’s Missionary Convention. She also served as president to the Union District Association Missionary and was a missionary instructor for the Union District Institute. She was also a past president of the Hart County Homemakers Outreach Club. Survivors include two daughters, Terryl Coats of Munfordville and Kathy Wilson of Horse Cave; a son John Thomas of Hardyville; a sister, Percilla Garnett of Horse Cave; and a grandson. The funeral is 11 a.m. Central time at Friendship Baptist Church in Horse Cave with Dr. Victor McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Horse Cave Cemetery. Visitation is today after 5 p.m. Central time at the church. Percell Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.
