Mrs. Newton was the widow of Bruce Newton, Secretary of the Albert Pike Masonic Lodge until his death. She was a member of the Ivy Leaf Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the Nile, and St. Paul United Methodist Church.
