The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, Beloit. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Beloit.

Mr. Brizendine was born Feb. 25, 1922, at Salina, Kan. He was a retired construction engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine M. of Las Vegas; and a sister, H. Arline Ewald of Boulder, Colo.

Mabel Arbuthnot Carpenter
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Mabel Arbuthnot Carpenter, 87, Colorado Springs, died Friday, July 27, 2001.
Mrs. Carpenter was born Mabel Arbuthnot on April 13, 1914, in Lincoln, Colo. She was an elementary school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Louise Nevins of Colorado Springs; and a brother, Warren Arbuthnot of Ordway.
The service will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Haddam (Kan.) Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family's choice.
There will be no visitation. The body was cremated.

DRESDEN -- Joseph Franklin "Joe" Fleckenstein, 57, Dresden, died Saturday, July 28, 2001.
Mr. Fleckenstein was born Aug. 23, 1943, in McCook, Neb. He was a laborer.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard of Sterling, Colo., and Christopher of Limon, Colo.; two daughters, Michelle Fleckenstein of Arvada, Colo., and Lorraine Fleckenstein of Glendale, Colo.; his mother, Gertrude Fleckenstein of Dresden; a brother, Leonard of Jennings; two sisters, Geraldine Lampe of St. Francis and Delores Rohr of Goodland; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Leoville. Inurnment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leoville.

Her husband, Sidney, died in 1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Starkel and Delores Lee, both of El Dorado; a brother, Jerry McCarty of Wichita; a sister, Cora Call of Kansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McGatlin was born Gladys Ann Johnson on Dec. 18, 1901, in rural Hoxie. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verne Sr., in 1959; two sons, Verne Jr. and Gail W.; and a daughter, Gladys DeeVee Carlton.
Survivors include a sister, Myrtle Carter of Hoxie; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Frank O. Scheibeler, 90, Minneapolis, died Monday, July 30, 2001.
Mr. Scheibeler was born June 6, 1911, at Cheyenne Wells, Colo. He retired in 1982 as a state grain inspector.
His wife, Letha M., died in 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Farrington of Salina; three sisters, Marie Morgan and Elva Siegel, both of Hillsboro, Ore., and Edith Lynch of Fall Creek, Ore.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The private family service will be in Mausoleum Williamsburg, Salina.

Mrs. Thurston was born Muriel B. Dougherty on Feb. 1, 1904, in rural Rooks County. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, in 1967; a daughter, Bonnie Lou Netherland; and two sons, Walter Jo Thurston and Bobbie Dean Netherland.
Survivors include a son, Martin James Netherland of Huntington, Texas; five daughters, Pattie Wright of West Harrison, Ind., Bernetha Letsch of Klamath Falls, Ore., Rita Peterman and Gladys Brockway, both of McPherson and Alda Lawrence of Onawa, Iowa; a sister, Ada Wannamaker of Russell; 19 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Williams was born July 26, 1942, at Little River, Kan. He was a 20-year veteran of the Air Force, retiring as a major and later managed a flight simulator at McCord Air Force Base.
Survivors include his wife, Susan of Fircrest; a son, Bradley of Kent; a stepson, Kevin Jensen of San Francisco; a stepdaughter, Erin Campbell of Fircrest; his parents, Lester and Rosalie Williams of Marquette, Kan.; a brother, Robert of Little River; a stepbrother, Ronald Shriner of Azel, Texas; a granddaughter; and five stepgrandchildren.

CASPER, Wyo. -- Robin F. Fazel, 41, Casper, died Monday, July 30, 2001.
Miss Fazel was born April 6, 1960, at Salina, Kan. She graduated from Kansas State School for the Visually Handicapped in 1981 and served as a volunteer for Special Olympics, Veterans of Foreign Wars, St. Jude's Children and Feed the Children. She also wrote poetry and short stories, receiving awards for poetry from the Writer's Guild.
She was preceded in death by her father, Danny Dale Sr., in 1998.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Phannitta and Bruce Brugger of Casper; three brothers, Danny Dale Jr. and David, both of Salina, and Floyd of Mesquite, Texas; three sisters, Angie Self and Lori Brown, both of Salina, and Carolyn Beard-Guffy of Casper; her close friend, Dixie Brown, of Salina; and her best friend, Forrest, her dog.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, the Rev. Bob Aills officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; two sons, Bob D. of Salina and Roger D. of Bavaria; his father, Raymond Royce of Bavaria; a brother, Darrell of Salina; two stepsisters, Norma Cain of Wichita and Gwen Latham of Quinter; and two grandchildren.

Dr. Robert Gene Ryan
SPRINGSBORO, Ohio -- Dr. Robert Gene Ryan, 47, Springsboro, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001.
Dr. Ryan was born at Hastings, Neb. He served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced veterinary medicine for 20 years, practicing at Springsboro for a year. He was a member of Springboro Lions Club and a current officer and Third Degree Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bradley Ryan; and an aunt, Helen Mulloy.
Survivors include his wife, Victoria; his mother, MaryAnne Ryan of Salina, Kan.; three brothers, Dr. Fred of Lima, Ray of Burlington, Kan., and Mark of Fargo, S.D.; and several nieces, nephews and aunts.

Mrs. Sterling was born Marjorie M. Brown on Feb. 11, 1913, at Larned. She was a retired teacher and former owner of Sterling Press and The Canton Pilot.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis F. "Bud" in 1998; and an infant son in 1950.
Survivors include a brother, Don Brown of McPherson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Canton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Canton Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Canton United Methodist Church, Canton Senior Center or Shiloh Manor Nursing Home, in care of Olson's Mortuary, 139 N. Main, Canton 67428.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Myrl O. Tidball
SYLVAN GROVE -- Myrl O. Tidball, 90, Sylvan Grove, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001.
Mr. Tidball was born June 19, 1911, at rural Osborne County. He was a retired automobile salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Emily of Sylvan Grove; a brother, Pershing of Van Nuys, Calif.; and two sisters, Doris Diers of Hunter and Audrey Henry of Mesa, Ariz.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Sylvan Grove. Inurnment will be in Lucas Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Sylvan Grove Public Library.
There will be no visitation.

Edwin Lynn Toll
HAYS -- Edwin Lynn Toll, 40, Hays, died Monday, July 30, 2001.
Mr. Toll was born Nov. 9, 1960, at Hoxie. He was disabled.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Everett Rowan of Hays; two brothers, Doren of Overgaard, Ariz., and Sidney of Hays; and two sisters, Virginia Hinsley of Golden Valley, Ariz., and Mickey Toll of Zurich.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Spencer-Stinemetz Chapel of Hill City. Burial will be in Morland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service today at the funeral chapel, 522 N. Pomeroy, Hill City 67642.

Nora H. VanEaton
KENSINGTON -- Nora H. VanEaton, 96, Kensington, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001.
Mrs. VanEaton was born Nora H. Chance on Aug. 8, 1904, at rural Phillips County. She was a retired school cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren, in 1990; and a son, Merton, in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Burton of Agra; two daughters, Carmen Rice of Kensington and Doris Pruitt of Salina; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Church, Kensington. Burial will be in Germantown Cemetery, Kensington.
