Francis L. Householter ~ 1924 - 2001
Francis L. "Frank" Householter, 77, Marquette, passed
away Monday, October 15, 2001.
Mr. Householter was born February 15, 1924, in Concordia,
Kansas and was a resident of Marquette for the past three years,
moving from Hillsboro. He was a retired field man
for Associated Milk Products. He was a Navy veteran of World War
II
and was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
On November 19, 1947, he married Leola Richardson at
Concordia.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Leola, Marquette; two daughters,
Shelly Anderson, Marquette, and Judy Blocklinger, Seneca; one
brother, Leo Householter, Concordia; three sisters, Rose
Dodge, Concordia, Alice Young, Fort Collins, Colorado, and
Madeline Wertz, Colorado; three grandsons, Scott Blocklinger
and wife Kristen, Gypsum, Darren Blocklinger and wife Anne,
Millersburg, Ohio, and Blake Blocklinger, Manhattan;
one granddaughter, Jaime Blocklinger, Manhattan; five
great-grandchildren, Derek, J.D., Tyler, Collin and Mya
Blocklinger.
Private family burial services were held in the Freemount
Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lindsborg.
Memorials may be made to the Marquette Ambulance Service.
Olson's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Paul Neste ~ 1933 - 2001
Paul Neste, 68, Decorah, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October
9, 2001, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse,
Wisconsin.
Paul Kenneth Neste was born January 28, 1933, son of
Lawrence and Melinda (Sjarpe) Neste, on the Neste farm in Decorah.
He was baptized at First Lutheran Church March 5, 1933,
and confirmed June 15, 1947 by Pastor T. A. Hoff.
He attended Luther College until joining the Navy in
1953. He graduated from Luther College in 1961 with a Bachelor of
Arts
degree in accounting.
Paul worked for the F.D.I.C. for four years as a bank
examiner based out of Chicago.
He returned to the Neste farm after his father's death
in 1965 and helped his mother with the farm operation.
In 1976, he and this brother, Luverne Neste, started
the Neste Angus Farms, and raised registered Black Angus cattle for 25
years. It was Paul's desire to raise high quality
Angus, breeding stock with many hours spent on record keeping and evaluating
to continually improve the Angus herd.
He also felt his ministry was to the land. Paul
felt a duty to preserve God's creation through organic farming methods.
It was
his desire to follow God's commandant to keep the Sabbath
holy, and despite standard practices, he never worked on Sunday.
On August 15, 1987, he married Ingrid Peterson at Elim
Lutheran Church in Marquette, Kansas, and was also blessed with her
seven-year-old son, Jon.
Through the years, Paul enjoyed helping Jon grow spiritually
and physically. He instilled in Jon a love of football that bonded
then until his last days.
He and Ingrid enjoyed a simple life and were joined through
their faith in Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his younger
brother, Sherman Neste.
Survivors include his wife, Ingrid Neste; his son, Jon,
and Jon's fiancée, Anna; his brother, Luverne (Mary) Neste, Chalmer;
his
mother-in-law, Geneva Peterson, Marquette; two brothers-in-law,
Fred Peterson, Marquette, and James Peterson, and wife,
Barbara, Independence; one sister-in-law, Marilee Peterson,
Marquette; two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October
12 at First Lutheran Church, Decorah, Iowa with Rev. Steven
Jacobsen officiating.
Burial was in Union Prairie Cemetery.

Ora Lee Barry~ 1916 - 2001
Ora Lee Barry, 85, Marquette, passed away Sunday, September
30, 2001, at Riverview Estates, Marquette.
She was born February 6, 1916, at Marquette, Kansas,
daughter of John "Jack" and Emma (Johnson) Barry.
She was a resident of Marquette since 1994, moving from
Lindsborg. She was retired from Bethany College Cafeteria service,
Lindsborg, Kansas, after twenty years.
She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette,
and formerly of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. She
transferred her membership to Elim after moving to Marquette
from Lindsborg.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert Barry, Council
Grove, and Charles Barry, Tempe, Arizona; five nieces; and two
nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October
7, 2001, at Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette, with Pastor Larry
Cross officiating. Private family burial was held
following the service at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Amos Kramer 1918 - 2001
Amos Kramer, 83, retired Director of the Kansas Petroleum
Council of the American Petroleum Institute, and 25 year resident
of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 30,
2001, after a long illness.
Mr. Kramer was born March 2, 1918, at Marquette, Kansas,
son of George and Elvida (Engdahl) Kramer. He graduated
from Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia in 1941 with
a BS in Education. Mr. Kramer was commissioned in 1941 in the
U.S. Navy and served in Europe as an Aircraft Identification
Expert. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He
married Vesta Stolfus, Emporia, in 1942 and they settled
in Kansas City after World War II. While living in Kansas City, he
was the Training Officer for the Veteran's Administration
and Manager at the University of Kansas Extension Center. Mr. and
Mrs. Kramer moved to Wichita in 1950 to continue raising
their family. He remained with the University of Kansas, managing
their adult education programs at the Extension Center.
He was the Executive Secretary for the Liquefied Petroleum Gas
Association in Wichita for several years, and then joined
the Kansas Petroleum Council in 1960.
Mr. Kramer had many interests, including lapidary and
fishing. He was active in the community. He was also a talented
wood
carver and was a member of Kaw Valley Carvers.
He was a member of the Legion of Honor for the Arab Shrine Temple.
He gave generously of his time to the community
and was a member of the First Christian Church, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford B.
Kramer, McPherson.
Survivors include his wife, Vesta Kramer; two daughters,
Susan Kucharo and her husband, Michael, Phoenix, Arizona, and
Lynn Megaffin, Littleton, Colorado; one sister, Carrie
Owen, Springfield, Ohio.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October
3, 2001, at the First Christian Church, Topeka. Graveside
services were held at 12:30 p.m. October 3 at Memorial
Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, with military honors.

Thomas R. Norris ~ 1934 - 2001
Thomas R. Norris, 67, Kansas City, Kansas, passed away
Thursday, September 20, 2001, at Providence Medical Center.
Tom was born April 24, 1934, at Marquette, Kansas, son
of Robert and Waunita (Matthews) Norris. He had lived in Kansas
City since 1949.
He was a 1952 graduate of Wyandotte High School and had
attended Kansas City Kansas Community College. He joined
"F" Company of the 137th Infantry of the Kansas National
Guard in 1951, and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of
1952. He was a Veteran of the Korean War.
Tom was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters,
in which he held numerous offices including Chief Ranger of his
local court. He was a graduate of the first class
of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department Citizens Academy. He
was a
member of the N.R.A. and had been a member of the Boy
Scouts. He was a former member of the American Legion Post
#327 and served on the Board of Directors of Car B in
1971.
He was a commercial pilot and drove race cars for two
years. In August 1996, he retired from Fairbanks-Morris Pump
Company after 27 years of service. He was a member
of the United Steel Workers of America Union Local #4991.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Marice Norris,
of the home; a son, William Norris, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a daughter,
Rebecca Kaster, Kansas City, Kansas; four brothers, Donald
Norris, Gerald Norris, and John Norris, all of Kansas City,
Kansas, and James Norris, Anderson, South Carolina; two
sisters, Shirley Clark, Tempe, Arizona, and Shelley Wendt,
Sparks, Nevada; two grandsons; and four granddaughters.
He was the nephew of Pearl Grubb, Salina.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September
24, 2001, at the Highland Park Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to the I.O.F. 1300 Scholarship
Fund, 6601 Winchester, Kansas City, Missouri 64133.
