Josie E. Estrop 
Josie Evelyn Estrop, 58, of Springfield, formerly of Virden and Farmersville, died at 3:49 p.m. Monday at her residence. 
She was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Montgomery County. She married Walter F. Estrop in 1986 in Atlanta. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Elmer Arthur "Dutch," Clarence Caleb "Cap" and Willard Lee Adcock. 
Mrs. Estrop attended Calvary Temple. She was a 1953 graduate of Farmersville High School. For the past seven years, she had been employed in the data processing department of the American Heart Association. 
Surviving are her husband, Walter F.; two brothers, Charles Bernard "Barney" Adcock of Bellflower and William Russel "Bud" Adcock of Caulfield, Mo.; a sister, Mary Helen Nickel of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret E. Bartels 
Margaret E. Bartels, 53, of Springfield died at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Memorial Medical Center. 
She was born June 24, 1939, in Springfield, the daughter of Joseph E. and Grace Whitcomb Skeeters. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Lopian; and four brothers, Raymond, Jerry, Joe and Bernie Skeeters. 
Mrs. Bartels was employed by Pillsbury Mills. 
Surviving are her husband, LaRue; two sons, Matthew and Jason, both of Springfield; two daughters, Rebecca Mobley of Aurora and Deborah Bartels of Springfield; three grandchildren; six brothers, Gene Skeeters of Cherry Valley, Calif., Charles, Norman, James, Gary and Michael Skeeters, all of Springfield; three sisters, Virginia Ingram of Rochester, Judy Butchek and Pat Chambers, both of Springfield; two aunts; several nieces and nephews.

Helen R. Donathon 
Helen R. Donathon, 88, of Springfield died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Walnut Ridge Health Care. 
She was born April 18, 1905, in Greensburg, Ky., the daughter of James and Mercena Skaggs Dobson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1971; a son, Robert; four brothers, Bradley, James, Charles and Thomas Dobson; and three sisters, Peggy Best, Linnie Cundiff and Mary Cundiff. 
Mrs. Donathon was employed by F.W. Means for many years. 
Surviving are three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Best of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.

Gerry I. Johnson 
Gerry I. Johnson, 87, of Oakford died at 8:20 p.m. Monday at her residence. 
She was born April 12, 1906, in Petersburg, the daughter of James Martin and Callie Hill Hoagland. She married Thomas F. Johnson in 1932 in Jacksonville; he died in 1991. Also preceding her in death were four sisters and two grandchildren. 
Mrs. Johnson was a beautician and operated her own beauty shop. She was a 1924 graduate of Ursuline Academy and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Petersburg. 
Surviving are a son, Thomas E. of Taylorville; three daughters, Betty Rutkowski of Springfield, Joyce Miller and Nancy Lounsberry, both of Oakford; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Clarence A. Miller 
Clarence A. Miller, 74, of Ashland, formerly of Pleasant Plains, died at 10:35 p.m. Monday at Memorial Medical Center. 
He was born May 27, 1919, near Athens, the son of Fred C. and Grace Williams Miller. He married Mavis Fern Guthrie in 1943 in Athens. Preceding him in death was a brother, Cleo. 
Mr. Miller farmed in the Cantrall and Pleasant Plains areas until retiring in 1984. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains. 
Surviving are his wife, Mavis; a son, Harold of Carbondale; two daughters, Connie Miller of Springfield and Sherry Simpson of Valparaiso, Ind.; two grandsons; a sister, Dorothy Marion of Athens; a brother, Ernest of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.

John T. Hickman 
John Thomas Hickman, 85, of Lincoln, formerly of Springfield, died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday at St. Clara's Manor, Lincoln. 
He was born Sept. 5, 1907, in Springfield, the son of Wilbur and Celia Williams Hickman. Preceding him in death were three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Hickman was retired from Landauer's Clothing Store. 
Surviving are his wife, Deloris Davis Hickman; a daughter, Doilene "Do Do" Hawkins of Lincoln; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln, with the Rev. Glenn Shelton officiating. Lewis G. Kimball 
Lewis G. Kimball, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Grand Rapids and Holland, Mich., died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center. 
He was born June 1, 1904, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of Davis Lewis and Lillian Eaton Kimball. He married Geraldine V. Tice in 1928; she died in 1987. Also preceding him in death were a son, Lewis Jr.; and a grandchild. 
Mr. Kimball was a division traffic engineer for Michigan Bell for 45 years. He retired in 1968. He was a 45-year member of the Lions Club in Grand Rapids, Mich., and was a monarch for the Lions Club. 
Surviving are a son, David C. of New Berlin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Murphy of Tucson, Ariz. 
Private family services were held, with the Rev. Mary Louise Haxton officiating. Committal was at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Tucker infant Jennifer Ann Tucker, infant daughter of Rodney and Christine Hill Tucker of Loami, died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday at her residence. 
She was born March 17, 1993, in Springfield. 
In addition to parents, surviving are her grandparents, LaVerne and Drucilla Hill of Pawnee and Mildred Maureen Hoskinson; a brother, Jacob Tucker at home; a half brother, Bobby Michael Tucker of Springfield; two aunts; and three uncles.

Elizabeth Locke Smith, 72, of Leslie, Ark., formerly of Springfield, died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday at Van Buren County Hospital, Clinton, Ark. 
She was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Springfield, the daughter of Dr. Robert E. and Mary Willett Smith. 
Surviving are a son, Jacob Bunn IV of Springfield; a daughter, Carolyne Bunn King of Leslie, Ark.; and three grandchildren.

Eva D. Fulton, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Athens, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Hospice. 
She was born in Tice, the daughter of Jesse A. and Mary E. VanAttan Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fulton, in 1958. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Edward E. Fuss 
Edward E. Fuss, 81, of Pontiac died at 6:58 a.m. Sunday at his residence. 
He was born Feb. 9, 1912, in Owego Township, the son of August and Elizabeth Stang Fuss. He married Nellie C. Williams in 1933 in Pontiac. Preceding him in death were two sons, two sisters and a brother. 
Mr. Fuss was a bricklayer for 45 years. He was employed by Ben Roth in Gridley; Irwin Brown and Sons, Opperman's and McCoy's, all in Pontiac; and Gould in Flanagan. He was a member of Bricklayers' Union Local 34 and Pontiac VFW. Surviving are his wife, Nellie C.; three sons, Robert L., William D. and David, all of Pontiac; two daughters, Nina J. Fuss of Springfield and Elizabeth Ferrara of Graymont; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ivan of Olympia, Wash; and three sisters, Marie Kilgore of Lexington, Ella Scott of Chenoa and Emma Murphy of Olympia, Wash.

PITTSFIELD -- William Dougley "Dudley" Williams, 65, of Pittsfield died at 8:40 a.m. Monday at Quinsippi Long Care Facility, Quincy. 
Mr. Williams served as mayor of Pittsfield for four terms, from 1973-89. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Skinner-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, Griggsville, with burial in Griggsville Cemetery. 
Surviving are his wife, Ruby M. Wreta A. Workman 
Wreta A. Workman, 85, of Loami died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Hospital North. 
She was born in Loami, the daughter of William A. and Lela Ann Colburn Davis. She married Kenneth M. Workman in 1925 in Loami; he died in 1969. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Verda Davis and Wilma Preston. 
Mrs. Workman was a member of Loami United Methodist Church, Household Science Club, Loami Women's Club and Royal Neighbors of America. 
Surviving are a son, Harold of Loami; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lela) Speaks of Loami; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Loami United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roy Doll officiating. Burial will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery, Loami.

Mary Louise Brown, 90, of Springfield died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday at Clarkston Court. 
She was born Aug. 19, 1902, in Macoupin County, the daughter of Charles and Lucinda Duncan Frantz. She married Earl W. Brown in 1926, and he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Chester and Orlen Frantz; and three sisters, Ruth Schramm, Burnice Morris and Ferne Hamilton. 
Mrs. Brown was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Detroit, Mich., chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. 
Surviving are a sister, Mildred O'Bryen of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.

Jack D. Pickford 
Jack D. Pickford, 65, of Springfield died at 2:25 a.m. Friday at his residence. 
He was born May 11, 1928, in Sparta, the son of Jack and Edna Smith Pickford. He married Gloria Meyer in 1946 in Sparta. Preceding him in death were his father; a brother, Robert D.; and stepfather, Gus Urbain. 
Mr. Pickford was an iron worker for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 46. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. 
Surviving are his wife, Gloria; five sons, Jack of Clarksville, Tenn., Ronald of Port Charlotte, Fla., Paul of Denver, Colo., and Mark and Thomas, both of Springfield; a daughter, Cheryl Johnson of San Rafael, Calif.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; his mother, Edna Urbain of Springfield; a brother, William of Springfield; four sisters, Marge Pickford, Bev Urbain and Debbie Elmore, all of Springfield, and Peggy Roscetti of Riverton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jesse Van Hiler, infant son of Margarette J. Sisti and Brian E. Hiler of Warsaw, died at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday at Blessing Hospital, Quincy. 
He was born June 1, 1993, in Quincy. Preceding him in death was a grandmother. 
In addition to parents, surviving are three brothers, Travis and Robert Hiler, both of Springfield, and Brian Hiler II of Warsaw; grandparents, Wendy Beavers and John Sisti, both of Springfield; an aunt; three uncles; and several cousins.

Charles W. Gharst 
Charles William "Chuck" Gharst, 77, of Springfield died at 10:23 p.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital. 
He was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Rockwell, Iowa, the son of Charles Daniel and Ada Remer Gharst. He married Mary Kindler in 1938. Preceding him in death was a sister, Sylvia Fields. 
Mr. Gharst was employed in coal mining for 20 years. He was an insurance agent for 10 years with United Insurance Company of America. 
Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, Charles J. of Williamsville; five daughters, JoAnn Giberson of Virden, Mary Jane Wilson, Linda Reiser, Kathleen Morris and Rosalie Gharst, all of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Goldie Hurst of Dawson; and a nephew.

Lawrence J. Laughlin 
Lawrence J. Laughlin, 86, of Virden died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Medical Center. 
He was born June 30, 1906, in Nilwood, the son of Dennis and Katherine Kane Laughlin. He married Elizabeth A. Smith in 1939 in Virden. Preceding him in death were an infant son, Patrick; a brother, Michael Thomas; and two sisters, Josephine Cox and Nellie Kohlrus. 
Mr. Laughlin was a telegrapher for Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad for 47 years. He retired in 1972. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Virden, Knights of Columbus Council 2321 in Virden and Railroad Telegraph Operators Union. 
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; a son, Michael D. of Virden; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Catherine Laughlin of Springfield.

Martha M. Olson 
Martha Marie Olson, 90, of Elkhart died at 3:10 p.m. Friday at Villa Health Care Center East, Sherman. 
She was born Sept. 29, 1902, near Fancy Prairie, the daughter of Frank and Martha Messersmith Miller. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Baugher, in 1944. She then married Russell Olson in 1948. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Naomi Beare, and two grandchildren. 
Mrs. Olson was a member of Irish Grove Presbyterian Church and the Helping Hand Society. 
Surviving are her husband, Russell; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Mary Lou) Pankey of Elkhart; a son, Marshall Baugher of Elkhart; a stepson, Jerry Olson of Cantrall; a stepdaughter, Phyllis Hahn of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Elvira N. Denning, 69, of Springfield, formerly of Palmer, died at 8 p.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital. 
She was born May 11, 1924, in Taylorville, the son of John F. and Elvira Dooling Seibert. She married Perle L. Denning in 1964 in Taylorville; he died in 1986. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Jack Seibert. 
Mrs. Denning was vice president of marketing personnel at First Trust Bank in Taylorville. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylorville.   Surviving are several cousins.  Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylorville, with the Rev. Martin O'Hara officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.
