BRAIDWOOD — John F. Bottino, 93, of Braidwood, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Embassy Care Center in Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, to Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood for Mass at 11 a.m. The Rev. Steve Bondi will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John F. Bottino Scholarship Fund established at the Reed Custer High School in Braidwood.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Lawrence Carl Cruse, 85, of Greensboro, N.C. and formerly of Diamond from 1983 to 1985, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at the Moses Cone Hospital in North Carolina.
A memorial service for Mr. Cruse was held Thursday at the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church in Greensboro where he attended.
Private graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington. The Rev. Peter Holmer and the Rev. Brett Reedy will officiate. Following the burial, the family will receive friends at the home of William and Carol Freeman, 1650 Stellon St., Diamond from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Choir and Organ Fund, 2600 Pisgah Church Rd., Greensboro, N.C. 27455.
R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd, Braidwood Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

COAL CITY — Mrs. William C. (Nora) Peart, 91, of Coal City, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in the Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris with the Rev. Robert Hoffenkamp officiating. 
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Reeves Funeral Home in Morris.
Preferred memorials are gifts in her memory to the Grundy Community Hospice or to Catholic Charities.

RURAL OTTAWA — Mrs. William (Marilyn Solberg) Bernard, 79, or rural Ottawa and formerly of Sheridan, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, in Morris.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Sheridan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sally Chipman officiating. 
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home, Ltd. in Sheridan.
Memorials may be directed to the Sheridan United Methodist Church.

MERCER, Wis. — Theodore L. “Ted” Chally, 68, died Friday morning, Sept. 20, 2002, at his home following a brief illness with cancer Survivors include a son, Ted Jr. of Morris.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
Engstrom Funeral Home in Hurley assisted the family with arrangements.

OLNEY — Hazel Bernice Clark, 61, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in her home in Olney following a lengthy illness. Survivors include three sons, David, Rick and Gregory Bell of Morris.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Stasi-Grove Funeral Home in Olney.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.

GOOSE LAKE TOWNSHIP — William A. Padovano, 81, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 25, 2002, in Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City with the Rev. Mike Pennock officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City.
Preferred memorials are gifts in his memory to Assumption Church Building Fund.

ELBURN — Almer W. Sandberg, 78, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, 2002, at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, with Pastor Vernon Tweedt officiating. Visitation will be held Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Preferred forms of memorials are gifts to the Lupus Foundation.

COAL CITY — Richard N. Scorby, 69, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 24, 2002, in his home.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City with the Rev. Mike Pennock officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City.

NEWARK — Robert W. Chally, 70, died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 24, 2002, at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Newark Lutheran Church with pastor Charles Sampson officiating. 
Visitation is at Fruland Funeral Home in Morris from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Military rites will be conducted by members of John Martin Steele Post VFW #6049 and Morris American Legion Post #294.
Preferred forms of memorials are gifts to Newark Lutheran Church, Wayside Cross Mission, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

SALEM, Ore. — Michael J. Griffin, 61, a 1958 graduate of Morris Community High School, died Feb. 16, 2002, in Salem, Ore, following a short illness.
A graduate of Northern Illinois University and the University of Illinois Law School, he served in the U. S. Navy.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Gregory James Hanson, 45, formerly of the Coal City and Morris areas, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, Sept. 21, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Apache’ Junction Funeral Home, 398 Old West Hwy., Apache’ Junction, Ariz., 85220.
A memorial service will be held in Coal City at a later date.

CHANNAHON — Raymond W. Marso, 70, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at his home.
Born in Aberdeen, S. D., he lived in the Joliet area most of his life.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Rd., Joliet, and on Thursday morning at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Channahon from 10 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.
A committal service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel with final internment at Hills of Rest Cemetery.

ELBURN — Elmer Sandberg died early today, Sept. 24, 2002, at Provena Mercy Hospital in Aurora.

SOUTH WILMINGTON — Mrs. George Earl (Teresa Bima) Bexson, 95, a long-time South Wilmington and Gardner resident, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Heritage Manor in Dwight.
Funeral services will be held at the R. W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., South Wilmington Chapel, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Greg Linkous officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials in her name to South Wilmington or Gardner Fire departments would be appreciated.

MESA, Ariz. — Gregory James Hanson, 44, formerly of Coal City, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at his home.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

JOLIET — Walter “Red” Roberts, 91, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. today, Monday, from Fred C. Dames Funeral Home to Immaculate Conception Church, 516 E. Jackson St., Morris, at 10 a.m. Father Bob Hoffenkamp officiated.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. John (Charline) Starks, 72, of Morris, died Sunday afternoon, Sept, 22, 2002, at Grundy County Home in Morris.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Vernon Tweedt officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

BRAIDWOOD — Dale Croft, 75, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Funeral services will be held at the R. W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, with Pastor David Lagos Fonseca.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Cremation rites will be accorded.

BLOOMINGTON — A memorial service for Harold C. Luhring, 81, was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, with the Rev. Ted Pierce and the Rev. Peggy Vogelsinger officiating.
The Chapel Choir, of which he was a member, also participated.
A prayer service was held at 11 a.m. today, Monday, at R. W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, with the Rev. R. David Hoffelt officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Music Ministries of Second Presbyterian Church.

NEWARK — Burnett E. Miller, 88, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Morris Hospital.,
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Millington-Newark Cemetery, with the Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating.

NEWARK — Melvin John Severson, 96, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Morris Lincoln Nursing Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

MANTENO — Michael John Grygiel, 73, of Manteno and formerly of Wil-mington, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Freitag Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Vitus officiating.
Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with military honors.

BRAIDWOOD — Jay A. Morrall, 21, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
A memorial service was held in Submarine Chapel at Pearl Harbor on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Local services are pending with R. W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel.
Funeral arrangements are tentatively set with visitation Sunday and funeral services Monday.

MAZON — Mrs. John H. (Dorothy R.) Gilchrist, 94, died Thursday evening, Aug. 29, 2002, at Morris Hospital.
On Dec. 21 the family will have a time when family and friends may join them at Park Street Congregational Church to celebrate Dorothy’s life.  A specific time will be published at a later date.

SENECA — Robert Mason, 69, formerly of Evergreen Park, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
A funeral service were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the Evangelical Church on Scott Street in Seneca. The Rev. Rick Mitchell will officiate.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. in Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Arthur (Leona M. Higgins) Narvick, 61, of Morris, died at her home Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, in her home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Robert Hoffenkamp officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at U. C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home Ltd.

GARDNER — Isaac Roberts, 78, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in Heritage Manor in Dwight.

Military services will be provided by Morris American Legion and Morris VFW Post.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the service starts.

CENTRALIA, MO. — Albert James Swind, 84, died Aug. 26, 2002, in Heritage Hall Nursing Center in Centralia.
