Eric Lynn Haun's dedication to serving youth had a positive affect on the lives of many young people. He grew up in Evangelical United Church of Christ, where he was a youth adviser, coached boys and girls softball, coached volleyball, helped form the Alton Little Red Birds wrestling club, and served in many capacities with the Illinois Boots and Saddle Club. He sang, played the piano, and was an auctioneer. His job was that of a pipefitter until a heart attack forced him to retire early. He was recovering from a stroke, and in a wheelchair recently, when he helped recognize many athletes in his church. Haun, 45, of Bethalto, died Nov. 17, 1999, in his home. He married Marcia Bracht, who survives. Also surviving are sons Tony and Travis at home; and sisters, Bonne Wilhelm of Godfrey, and Teresa Haun of Alton.
