He was an athlete at Alton Senior High School, and attended Shurtleff College and Jackson State University, prior to joining the U. S. Air Force. He was a trainer of instrument flying , and his Tuskegee Airmen students were well known in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Alma; daughters, Vernita Kenner of Valejo, Ca., Denise Payne of Los Angeles, and Adriene Hunt of Folsom, Ca.; a son, Comm. Robert Wilson of Cecil Field, Fl.; four grandchildren and one great grandson. Services were in the Cardova Baptist Church.
