Irene Louise Riehl, 88, of Alton, died May 18, 1999, in Alton Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Allan, preceded her in death. Surviving are a niece, Carolyn Baker of Atlanta, Ga.; and caregivers, Carmen Diddle, Angela Neal, Angela Ward, Virginia Dickerman, Nicole Diddle and Shirley Montgomery. She owned and operated her own real estate business, and her own school, and had been a school teacher from 1933 to 1971. She was active in many organizations in the Alton Area. Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Godfrey.

Russell O. Rieke, 77, of Alton, died Dec. 1, 1997, in Blytheville, Ar. He married Alice Downes, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie Koenig of Alton; sisters, Doris Krajefska of East Alton, and Esther Kramikal and Eunice Willis, both of Granite City; and two granddaughters.
