Wesley G. Grombach
Wesley G. Grombach, 70, of Buckeye, Ariz. died Jan. 23, 2001.
He grew up in Zion and moved to Arizona in 1970 where he became a valued
and respected member of the community. It takes a special kind of man to
set a course in life and follow through, no matter what the obstacles.
It takes a special kind of man to aim for the best, to be the best and
to pursue his goals with passion and enthusiasm. It takes a special kind
of man whose faith inspires faith, whose determination leads to admiration
and whose perseverance always makes him a winner. He was this kind of man.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy with whom he shared 50 years;
his children Debra (Charles) Schleger, Patricia (Ronald) Roberts, Cynthia
(Stan) Gable and William (Gayle) Grombach; sisters Mary Jane Sterbenz and
Elsie Grant. He was also blessed with 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

a man he didn't like. John died April 14, 2001 at Midwestern Regional Medical
Center in Zion surrounded by his family and friends.

Edward W. Petrosius
Age 72 of Antioch, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000 at Lake Forest
Hospital, Lake Forest. He was born June 28, 1928 in Chicago, the son of
the late, Stanley B. and Sophie T. (Rumshas) Petrosius, moving to Antioch
in 1977. He retired in 1978 as a member of the Chicago Fire Department.
He was a member of the Firefighters International Union Local 2 in Chicago,
the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 525 of Antioch and St. Stephen Lutheran
Church in Antioch. On May 29, 1948 he married Phyllis Gronert in Chicago.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; one daughter, Phyllis (Richard)
Zora of Antioch; one son, Edward II of Aspen, Colo. and Antioch; two grandchildren,
Rebecca (Patrick) Sweet and Jonathan Zora; one great grand-daughter, Alexis;
his sister-in-law, Julie Ann Petrosius and his brothers-in-law, Donald
(Audrey) Gronert, Gerald (Pat) Gronert and Dick (Elaine) Gronert and numerous
nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death
by his brother, Stanley in 1999. His special request was for no neckties
to be worn at his funeral.
Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Oct. 23 at St. Stephen Lutheran
Church of Antioch with Pastor Roger Black, officiating.
Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens South, Oak Lawn at 1 p.m.
Friends and family called at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch from
3-8 p.m., Oct. 22.

Margaret 'Bapa' Rozentals
Age 80 of Round Lake Beach, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000 at Condell
Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born on Oct. 29, 1919 in Poland
to Anthony and Anna Kaczkowski. Formerly of the northwest side of Chicago,
she was a resident of Round Lake Beach for 14 years. Prior to retirement,
she had been employed in housekeeping by Morton Thiokol in Chicago for
over 20 years. While living in Chicago, she was a member of Holy Trinity
Catholic Church. After moving to Round Lake Beach, she attended St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Round Lake with her daughter. Well known for her love
of cooking, Margaret was very devoted to her family.
She is survived b y her daughter, Lydia (Walter) Michalski of Round
Lake Beach; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Kevin) Bur of Trevor, Wis.,
Eric Michalski of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Scott (Dawn) Michalski of Round
Lake Beach; and four great grandchildren, Tanya, Samantha, and Alyssa Bur;
Tyler Michalski; and several brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death
by her husband, Jacob Rozentals on Jan. 12, 1979; her parents; and several
brothers and sisters.
Visitation was held from 5-9 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Justen's Round Lake
Funeral Home, Round Lake.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Oct. 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Round Lake.
Interment was at Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago.

Thaddeus 'Ted' Walaszek
Age 80 of Fox Lake, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000 in Lindenhurst. He
was born May 5, 1920 in Chicago. Ted was a jeweler for Sears Dept. Stores
for 41 years.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie 'Marge' Walaszek; one son, Mark;
three daughters, Diane, Karen and Lois. He is preceded in death by a daughter,
Carol.
Visitation of family and friends was at K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home,
Fox Lake (the Chapel on the Lake).
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Bede Catholic Church, Ingleside.
Interment was at St. Bede Catholic Cemetery, Ingleside.
Ella Ruzicka
Age 101 of Ingleside, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000 in Wauconda. She
was born Sept. 28, 1899 in Chicago.
Ella is survived by her son, Marvin Ruzicka with whom she made her
home.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, Oct. 23, at 12:30 p.m. at the
K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, Fox Lake (The Chapel on the Lake)
Visitation of family and friends was 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Monday,
Oct. 23 at the Funeral Home.
Interment was at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago.
James J. Beranek
Age 45 of Mundelein, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000 at Evanston
Hospital, Evanston. He was born July 9, 1955 in Chicago, the son of James
and Evelyn (Borrelli) Beranek. He grew up in Sylvan Lake Subdivision, graduated
from Mundelein High School and was a member of the United Methodist Church
of Mundelein. His special interests included motorcycling, restoring antique
tractors with his father-in-law and he was a dedicated father and husband.
Jim was currently working as a carpenter for JB Construction. On Dec. 2,
1990 he married Lori St. John in Salem, Wis.
Survivors include his wife, Lori; one daughter, Carly and one son,
Timothy at home; his mother, Evelyn of Mundelein; two brothers, Daniel
(Tina) of Trevor, Wis. and Michael (Chris) of Lake Villa; his father and
mother-in-law, George and Macel St. John of Salem, Wis., and his group
of close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, James.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Strang
Funeral Home of Antioch, Antioch with Rev. Judy Shirk of the United Methodist
Church of Mundelein, officiating.
Friends and family called at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m., Friday,
Oct. 20.
Interment was at Liberty Cemetery, Salem, Wis.

Age 48, of Fox Lake, died Oct. 19, 2000 at Lake Forest Hospital, Lake
Forest. A lifetime resident of Fox Lake, she was born April 10, 1952 in
Chicago. Linda was formerly a travel agent for Glove Travel Agency in Libertyville.
Survivors include, her mother, Betty Wartell, with whom she made her
home; her brother, David (Debbie) Wartell of Ringwood; her niece, Stephanie;
her nephew, Nicolas, both of Ringwood; her aunt, Therese Stickles of Michigan;
her uncle, Bernard (Bucek) of Michigan.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at
St. Mary's Catholic Church, McHenry.

Vernon J. Hoth Sr.
Age 68 of Mundelein, died Oct. 21, 2000 at Vencor Hospital in Sycamore.
He was born April 13, 1932 in Vernon Township.
He is survived by his children, Katherine (William) Lappin of Missouri,
Susan Hoth of Mundelein, Sharon (Juan) Salinas of Round Lake, Vernon Jr.
(Norine) Hoth of Lindenhurst, Timothy (Denise) Hoth of Missouri, Steven
(Sharon) Hoth of Vernon Hills, Daniel (Jeanmarie) Hoth of Mundelein and
Gary Hoth of Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and
his brother, Robert (Eunice) Salem of Evanston.

Age 85 of Wautoma, Wis., formerly of Antioch, passed away Saturday,
Oct. 21, 2000 at the Wild Rose Hospital, Wild Rose, Wis. She was born March
7, 1915 in Antioch, the daughter of the late Emil and Evah (Horton) Risch.
Before moving to Wisconsin in 1970 she was a member of the United Methodist
Church of Antioch and had worked as a receptionist for Dr. Jensen, DVM,
the Antioch News and she also did domestic work.
Survivors include her daughter, Gale J. Clark with whom she made her
home in Wauttoma, Wis.; three grandchidlren, Michael Cayce, Naomi (Jesse)
Rabideau and Carrie (Scott) Immonen; two great grandchildren, Timothy and
Mykaka; one brother, Robert (Joanne) Risch of Wautoma, Wis.
Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Strang Funeral
Home of Antioch, Antioch with the Rev. Gary L. Curl of the Antioch United
Methodist Church officiating.
Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch
Richard G. LaPlante
Age 32 of Waukegan, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000 at St. Therese
Hospital, Waukegan. He was born May 18, 1968 in Waukegan the son of Gregory
and Judith (Garwood) LaPlante. He was a lifelong resident of the area living
in Antioch for many years where he was a member of St. Peter Church. He
worked at Badger Cork in Trevor, Wis. for some time and recently part time
at Great America in Gurnee.
Survivors include his mother, Judith (John) Shaffer of Lake Villa and
his father, Gregory (Beth) LaPlante of Crescent City; one brother, Edward
(Beth) LaPlante of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Michelle (Duaine) Yearout
of Kenosha, Wis. and Kathryn LaPlante with the Peace Corp in Bangladesh;
his maternal grandmother, Kathryn Garwood of Antioch and three nieces,
Kayla, Emma and Chloe.
Funeral Services with Mass of Christian Burial was held 10 a.m., Oct.
25 at St. Peter Church, Antioch.
Interment was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Antioch.

Loretta Skrzenta (nee Fahrentholz)
Age 80, a 15 year resident of Fox Lake since 1985 formerly of Chicago
and Delavan, Wis. died Oct. 7, 2000 at the Vencor Rehab Center in Northlake.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1919 in Chicago to Otto and Bertha Fahrentholz
and had been a longtime employee for a brush manufacturing company before
retiring. She was married to her late husband Adam Skrzenta in 1985 at
St. Bede Catholic Church in Ingleside and had accompanied him to many of
his Fox Lake organizational functions and senior citizen activities. She
enjoyed crafting of all kinds embroidery and crocheting.
Survivors include her niece, Virginia (Norbert) Gorniak of Hanover
Park and a nephew, Leonard Klosowicz of McHenry, other nieces, nephews,
great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband
Adam in 1996 and by her sister, Lillian Fahrentholz and other brothers
and sisters.
Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
at the K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lk. Rd., Fox Lake (the
Chapel on the Lake) with the Rev. Lisle Kauffman officiating, to which
all are invited to attend.
Interment was private.
Robert J. Kucera
Age 55 of Gurnee, passed away Oct. 20, 2000 at his home after a short
illness. He was born Jan. 19, 1945 in Denver, Colo. Adjunct Instructor
at the Loyola University School of Medicine and Senior Research Biochemist
for Abbott Labs.
He is survived by his parents, Ethel (the late Lad) Kucera of Lake
Forest; son Christopher Kucera of Green Bay, Wis. and friend and wife,
Cheryl Kucera of Lindenhurst.
Memorial Mass was celebrated, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick
Catholic Church, Wadsworth.
Interment was private.

Age 67 of Round Lake Beach, passed away Oct. 10, 2000 at the Boone
County Medical Center, Columbia, Mo. Born Feb. 3, 1933 in Chicago.
Survivors include six children, Donald Jr. (Jamie) Bueche of Round
Lake Beach, Dora Solomon of Brookfield, Mo., Robert (Janet) Bueche of Round
Lake Beach, Christine (Thomas) Thompson of Silver Lake, Wis., Michael (Tara)
Bueche of Brookfield, Mo., Ilene Bueche of Round Lake; grandmother of 17,
great grandmother of three.

will be held at 8:30 p.m. at The Symond-Lakes Funeral Home, 111 W. Belvidere

Elizabeth 'Betty' A. Starr (nee Noblet)
Age 68 of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Antioch, was called to eternal
rest Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000 at her home in Tucson, Ariz. A caring nurse
at the Antioch Clinic for over 24 years. She was loved and will be missed
by her family, firends and patients.
She is the loving mother of Paul and Lisa Starr (Nelson). The proud
and cherished grandmother of the late Christian and Darren Christopher
Nelson. Beloved sister of Theresa, Mary and (late) Roger. She was the loving
aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter's Church in Antioch, on
Saturday, Oct. 28 at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests Memorial contributions be made
to the Antioch Community Library.
Consuelo Echeverria
Age 79 of Round Lake Beach died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000 in her home.
She was born on March 22, 1921 in Mexico, to Felix and Conseccion (Carduso)
Echeverria. She married Sacramento Mercado. He preceded her in death on
Sept. 15, 1989.
She is survived by nine children, 39 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren,
two sisters and three brothers.
Visitation was held from 2-7 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Justen's Round Lake
Funeral Home, Round Lake.
Funeral Services were held in Mexico.
Interment was in Santiago Maravatio Municipal Cemetery in Santiago
Maravatio, Mexico.
ClaraLee Schwager
Age 59 of Ingleside, died July 20, 2000. She was born Jan. 6, 1941
in Chicago. Formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla. She was a retired salesperson
for Sears and Roebuck Co. after 21 years of service also was the office
manager at Suncoast Glass and Mirror Co. in Port Charlotte, Fla. ClaraLee
was a member of the Gulf Cove United Methodist Church in Port Charlotte,
Fla.
Survivors include, daughters, Dawn Schwager of Port Charlotte, Fla.,
Laurie Burnham of Venice, Fla, Terri Carole of Englewood, Fla., Tammy Ilmberger
of North Port, Fla.; son-in-laws, Richard Ilmberger of North Port, Fla.,

James A. Hubbard
Age 58, a resident of Ingleside for the past 31 years, formerly of
Chicago, died suddenly, Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000 at the Northern Illinois
Medical Center in McHenry. He was born on Nov. 2, 1941 to Arthur and Joy
(nee Donati) Hubbard and on July 11, 1964 was married to Judith A. (nee
Leber) in Chicago. He was a retired teacher who had worked for the Chicago
Board of Education until 1995. He was a member of the Chicago Teachers
Union and was a former member of the Gregorians. His hobbies included amateur
radio, computer, electronics and home projects of all kinds.
Survivors include, his wife, Judith A. Hubbard of Ingleside; two sons,
Steven (Carolyn "Carrie") Hubbard of Woodstock; his grandson, Christopher
Warnke of Wonder Lake; two sisters, Dolores (John) Koziar of Fox River
Grove, Barbara (Rev. Ralph) Smith of Indiana. He is preceded in death by
his parents, and by two daughters, Joy and Diane Hubbard.

Elma G. Manuel
Age 76 of Lindenhurst passed away at Provena/St. Theresa Hospital,
Waukegan on Monday, Oct. 23, 2000.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence and her three sons, Dale (Janice)
of Roscoe, Gayle (Therese) of Spring Grove and Gary (Karen) of Richmond;
her grandchildren, Jason (Kathleen), Bethany, Derek, Nicole, Eden and Eric;
great grandchildren, Shenelle, James and Cody. She is preceded in death
by her brothers, Elvin, Marion and Howard and sister, Wanda.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at St. Mark
Lutheran Church, 1822 E. Grand Ave., Lindenhurst.
Visitation was Oct. 26 from 4-8 p.m at Ringa Funeral Home, Lake Villa
and at the Church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Libertyville.

Michael 'Mickey' M. Dougherty
Age 69 of Round Lake Beach died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000 at St. Therese
Medical Center in Waukegan. He was born on July 29, 1931 in Chicago, to
Michael and Alice (Barlett) Dougherty.
He is survived by his wife, D. Fay of Round Lake Beach; and eight children
Visitation was held 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Justen's Round Lake Funeral
Home, Round Lake.
Funeral Services were held in the funeral home with Rev. Lisle Kauffman,
Pastor of Calvary Presbyterian Church officiating.
Inurnment was private.
