Virginia Bach
Virginia H. Back, 89, of Elmhurst, died Friday, June 1, at Lexington Healthcare Center in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 5, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park, with the Rev. Kevin Gushiken officiating. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Bach was the wife of Roy E. Sr., mother of Roy E. Jr. (Sally), grandmother of five, and aunt and great-aunt of many.
Mrs. Bach was an active member of the Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church for 40 years. She was also an active member of the the Impaired Vision Group at Lexington.

Elaine Cugier
Elaine Marie Cugier, nee Sullivan, 75, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Lombard, died Monday, May 28, in Alaska.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 2, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Arno Dennerlein officiating. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Cugier was the mother of Maureen Aed, Kathleen (Kenneth) Kray, Sharon (Jerry) Poole, Denise (Kurt) Blanken, Tom, David (Ellen) and Don (Debbie); grandmother of 22; great-grandmother of two; and sister of Roger (Maryann) Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; granddaughter, Karin Elaine Kray; and parents, Edwin and Harriet Sullivan.
Mrs. Cugier was a resident of Lombard from 1963-88. She was a registered nurse, and worked at Joslyn Clinic in Maywood, and also at Meyer, Meyer and Albers office in Lombard from 1972-87.
Memorials to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcomb Blvd., Houston, Texas, 77030, c/o the Head and Neck Center, would be appreciated.

James Dow
James L. Dow, 71, of Florida, died Saturday, June 2, in Lombard
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 5, at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Road, Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Dow was the husband of Elaine A.; father of Jacki (John) Cullen, Vicki (Jim) Hammer, Bev (Bill) Wehrle, Bonnie (Terry) Davis, Patti (Ron) Fugle and Heide (Steve) Koehler; grandfather of 17; great-grandfather of four; and brother of Marcia (Marlin) Gustin and Betty (James) Stoldt. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Mr. Dow was a resident of Lombard for 28 years, and moved to Sun City Center in Florida. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Midwest O.E. Local 150, and the Evergreen Masonic Lodge #1171.
Memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated. 

Joseph Doyle
Joseph F. Doyle, 88, of Villa Park, died Friday, May 27, at home.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 31, at Oak Brook Community Church in Oak Brook. Interment was private. 
Mr. Doyle was the husband of Edna May; father of Maureen (Kenneth) Martinson, Joanne (Dane) Cuny, Thomas and Richard (Marybeth); and grandfather of 11. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry.
Mr. Doyle was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and was a retired electrical engineer for I.T.T. Co. He was a member of St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 999 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 would be appreciated.

Daniel Ellspermann
Daniel G. Ellspermann, 49, of Olympia Fields, died Tuesday, May 29, in Dyer, Indiana.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 2, in St. Joseph, Mich. 
Mr. Ellspermann was the father of Julie and Joseph; son of George and Monica Ellspermann; and brother of Jane (Mike) Cunningham, Monica L. Allen and Thomas (Cynthia).
Mr. Ellspermann owned and operated a golf club repair company, and was a member of the Lombard Jaycees.

Erna Kirchhoff
Erna M. Kirchhoff, nee Kneifel, 97, of Lombard, died Thursday, May 31, at The Anchorage Nursing Home in Bensenville.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 4, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
Mrs. Kirchhoff was the mother of William J. (Doris) and Elsie A. Bitterman, grandmother of four, great-grandmother of five, sister of Kurt (Marie) Kneifel, sister-in-law of Margaret Kirchhoff, and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Herman; and brothers Carl and Hans.
Mrs. Kirchhoff was a resident of Lombard since 1933. She was born in Hannover, Germany, and came to the United States in 1925. She was a homemaker, and member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.
Memorials to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard, IL 60148 would be appreciated.

Julia Ocasek
Julia M. Ocasek, 85, of Villa Park, died Saturday, June 2, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, with the Rev. Thomas Sanders officiating. Interment is private. 
Mrs. Ocasek was the mother of Melvyn, James K. (Nola Rae) and Marilyn (Wayne) Tulke; stepmother of Dave, Wayne and Ron Ocasek; grandmother of eight; great-grandmother of 14; stepgrandmother of nine; and great-stepgrandmother of 11. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Emil Ocasek and Karl G. Kreml. 
Memorials to the American Heart association would be appreciated.

Ann Stevens
Ann Marie Stevens, nee Bobey, 57, of Villa Park, died Wednesday, May 30, at home.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 2, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Mrs. Stevens was the mother of Lisa (Stephen) Baker and Lori (David) Follis, and grandmother of one. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.
Mrs. Stevens worked in administration for the Illinois Department of Public Aid.

Burnis Stoltz
Burnis "Mike" Stoltz, 94, of Villa Park, died Saturday, June 2, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Villa Park. 
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9, at Steuerle Funeral Home 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment is private.
Mr. Stoltz was the husband of Helen; father of Judy Sheridan, Terry M., Beverly J. and Thomas (Nancy); grandfather of three; brother of Leone Brown; and uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Gaylord Stoltz.

Elsie Veverka
Elsie Veverka, 87, of Pennsylvania, formerly of Chicago, died Wednesday, May 30, in Pennsylvania.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 4, at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Interment was at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
Mrs. Veverka was the mother of Barbara A. (Roger D.) Miller, grandmother of three, sister of Herbert and Elmer Whitcher, sister-in-law of Lillian Veverka and Ralph Kuszynksi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J.; and sister, Eileen Kuszynski.
Mrs. Veverka was the retired owner of a dry cleaning business and a school supply store in the Chicago area. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and playing cards.

Vernon Benjaminsen
Vernon S. Benjaminsen, 87, of Lombard, died Saturday, July 28, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Interment will be Thursday, Aug. 2, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.
Mr. Benjaminsen was the husband of Helen, father of Robert of Lombard and
Barbara (the Rev. Glenn) Brauer, grandfather of two, brother of Kenneth (Marion), and uncle of four nieces.
Mr. Benjaminsen was a resident of Lombard since 1966. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a former member of Lombard VFW Post #5815. He had retired in 1975 from Citgo Petroleum after 28 years, where he had been a credit manager.
Arrangements were made by Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Alice Boynton
Alice G. Boynton, nee Keesey, 86, of Lombard and formerly of Naperville and Waukegan, died Sunday, July 22, at Beacon Hill Retirement Community in Lombard.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville. 
Mrs. Boynton was the mother of Frank (Sara), grandmother of four, great-grandmother of two, and aunt of several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D.; brothers, Orville, Lloyd, Alvin and Russell; and sister, Edith B. Getz.
Mrs. Boynton was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during World War II. She received a degree in social work and was employed for many years with the Illinois Department of Public Aid as a social worker. She had been a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Naperville and enjoyed golfing.

Shirley Dickinson
Shirley J. Dickinson, nee Cassidy, 77, of Glen Ellyn and formerly of Lombard, died Wednesday, July 25, at home.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 30, at Faith Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn, with the Rev. Sheri Delvin officiating. Interment was at Union Cemetery in Lee, Ill. 
Mrs. Dickinson was the stepmother of Frederick (Sandy) Dickinson, Richard (Mary) Dickinson and Barbara (Stephen); grandmother of six, cousin of Norma Baird and aunt of Virginia Flaiz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elsworth.
Mrs. Dickinson retired in 1978 after working as a cartographer with Marsh and McLennan. She was a member of the P.E.O., the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Lombard Garden Club, the Lombard Women's Club and the Lombard Horticultural Club.

Robert Gammon Sr.
Robert W. Gammon Sr., 72, of Indianapolis, Ind. and formerly of Lombard, died Sunday, July 15.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 19, at Flanner and Buchanan Speedway Mortuary, 2950 N. High School Road, Indianapolis. A graveside service will be held at Charter Oaks Cemetery in Kirkland, Ill. on Saturday, Aug. 4. 
Mr. Gammon was the husband of Ramona Dellacca, father of Jeffrey L. (Pamela), grandfather of three, great-grandfather of one, and former son-in-law of Grace Shyrock. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marialyce; and sons, Robert Jr. and Thomas.
Mr. Gammon was a pilot in the Army Air Corps, serving from 1946-52. He worked as a systems analyst for Rexnord Corp. before retiring in 1993, and continued to work as a self-employed consultant for several years. 
Mr. Gammon was instrumental in establishing the boys baseball league in Lombard, serving in many capacities, especially as a coach and manager. He is listed in "Community Leaders and Noteworthy Americans," and was elected Lombard parks director in 1978, but had to decline upon moving to Indianapolis. 
He was an expert bridge player, a member of the PGA, the Phatelist Club and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Arlene Meeks
Arlene E. Meeks, 65, of Lombard, died Sunday, July 22, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 25, at Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 W. Roosevelt Road, Hillside. Interment was at Glen Oak Cemetery.
Mrs. Meeks was the wife of Waldo, mother of Thomas R. (Diane M.) and Marcia (Patrick) O'Malley, and grandmother of two.
Mrs. Meeks was a homemaker.

Helen Kojder
Helen M. Kojder, nee Sroka, 86, of Lombard, died Wednesday, July 25, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 28, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Robert Schoenstene officiating. Entombment was at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Hillside.
Mrs. Kojder was the sister of Cecelia Lata of Villa Park, Lorraine Porcarro and Virginia Halonen; and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew A.; son, Andrew W.; brother, Walter Sroka; and brothers-in-law, Victor Lata and Frank Porcarro.
Mrs. Kojder was a resident of Lombard since 1950.

Warren Olson
Warren E. "Ole" Olson, 79, of Lombard, died Thursday, July 26, at home. 
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 28, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment was private.
Mr. Olson was the husband of Charlotte Jane; father of Linda (Neil) Johnson of Lombard, Paul Warren (Kathy) of Lombard and John Edward (Jo An); grandfather of nine; and great-grandfather of 11. He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas.
Mr. Olson was a resident of Lombard for 48 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on ships in the Pacific during World War II. He retired in 1979 from Sears, Roebuck and Co. 
 
Lee Sceske.
Lee J. Sceske, 78, of Villa Park, died Wednesday, July 25.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 28, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.
Mr. Sceske was the husband of Barbara; father of Linda (Mike) Dwyer, Carol (Jim) Fassnacht and Joanne "Josie" (Tom) Cassell; and grandfather of eight. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert L.
Mr. Sceske was the retired owner of an automotive tire store.

Rita Unterberg
Rita E. Unterberg, nee Loar, 69, of Aurora and formerly of Lisle, died Sunday, July 29, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora.
Visitation will be today, Aug. 1, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Naperville. Interment is at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville.
Mrs. Unterberg was the mother of John (Jann), Marsha (John) Maronic and Scott (Vicki); grandmother of nine; sister of three brothers and four sisters; former wife of William J.; and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Blades; parents, Robert and Elsie Loar; and sisters, Marie and Roberta.
Mrs. Unterberg grew up in Lombard and lived in many of the western suburbs of Chicago over the years. She was most recently employed with Eagle Foods in Aurora as a deli clerk, and had worked for the Chicago Sun-Times in distribution. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and enjoyed game shows and crossword puzzles.
