Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas, with Father Merle Kollasch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas, with military graveside rites by the Pocahontas American Legion and V.F.W. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a 3 p.m. Rosary by the Catholic Ladies and a 7 p.m. vigil service, both Sunday at the funeral home.

Eileen Merfeld, 89, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa.

Doris Mary-Alice Leamon Handy, 88, died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 — three days after her birthday. Her health has been gradually failing and so for the past year, she has been at home in Friendship Haven’s Tompkins Health Center.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home, with a memorial service on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church. Inurnment will be in North Lawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Hospice and/or Friendship Haven.
