TAMPA— Jacqueline B. Godwin, 73, of Tampa, Fla., died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at her home.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 6100 Memorial Highway, Tampa. Graveside services will follow at Lake Carroll Cemetery.

Mrs. Godwin was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. and moved to Jacksonville, Fla. when she was eight years old. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville and attended college at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Mrs. Godwin and her family moved to Tampa from Albany, Ga. in 1975. She was an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was treasurer of TBMP, Inc.

Survivors include her husband, Byron K. Godwin Jr. and children, Kathy Perkins and husband Vance Perkins of Columbus, Ga., Dru Thomason and husband Danny Thomason of Tampa, Kerry Godwin and wife Meryl Godwin of Maitland, Fla., Gail Mundt and husband Randy Mundt of Evergreen, Colo., and Sandra Robb and husband Mitch Robb of Tampa. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Mark III Funeral Home in Town n Country, 7701 W. Hillsborough Avenue.

ALBANY— Lee Johnson Hanson, 83, of Albany, died Wednesday evening, April 4, 2001, at Palmyra Medical Centers following an illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kimbrell-Stern with interment in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Beckum and the Rev. Thad Haygood will officiate.

A native of Cuthbert, Mrs. Hanson had lived in Albany since 1935, and was retired from Albany Food Brokerage. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Eleanor Hawk Sunday School Class. Her husband was the late Edgar Waite Hanson who died February 18, 2000.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws, Hans A. Hanson and wife Pat and Edgar C. (Buddy) Hanson and wife Glenda; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Robert W. Hayes
ALBANY — Robert W. Hayes, 82, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus.

The graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Floral Memory Gardens. The Rev. Robert E. Varnadore will officiate.

A native of Culloden, Ga., Mr. Hayes had lived in Albany since 1949, where he retired from the Dougherty County School System in 1985 after serving thirty years. He attended Harvest Temple Church of God.

Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Mills and son-in-law, John Mills of Cordele; daughter, Fay Hatcher of Albany; a grandchild, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

The family is at the residence of Fay Hatcher, 3206 Old Dawson Road, Albany.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Jenkins was a member of Second Bethesda Baptist Church.

A native of Baker County, Mrs. Singleton was a member of First Albany Deliverance Cathedral. She served as pastor of First Doerun Holiness Deliverance Church from 1985 to 1999.

ALBANY— Lydia Zebina Morales Vidal, 81, of 107 Rosewood Drive S.E., died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, at Royal Palm Funeral Home in West Palm Beach, Fla., with interment to follow in Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in West Palm Beach, Fla.

A native of Havana, Cuba, Mrs. Vidal had lived in Albany for about two months. She was a former resident of 533 Collins Ave., Miami, Fla. Mrs. Vidal was a retired clerk with the John Hancock Insurance Company.

Survivors include two sons, Carlos E. Arozarena and his wife, Theresa of Denver, Colo., Pedro E. "Pete" Vidal and his wife, Kimberly of Albany, Ga.; a dear brother, Virgillio Morales Diaz of Miami, Fla.; a special sister, Ana M. Martinez of Palm Beach, Fla.; her niece, Sonia Bollinger and family of West Palm Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at Royal Palm Funeral Home.

ALBANY— Sophie Williams-Morgan, 95, of 1904 Palmyra Road died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Palmyra Medical Centers.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Meadows Funeral Home with interment in Bethena Cemetery in Leesburg. The Rev. R.N. Elzia Jr. will officiate.

A native of Terrell County, Ms. Williams-Morgan was a homemaker. She attended Terrell County public schools and was a member of Palmyra Baptist Church.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Dorothy Bell of Albany; one sister, Martha Davis of Albany; one brother, Mitchell Mims of Albany; and three great-grandchildren.

The family of Mrs. Morgan will receive friends and relatives at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Bell of 418 Bush St., Albany.

A native of Mitchell County, Mr. Wilson was a retired cement finisher and was a member of the House of God Saints in Christ.

OCILLA — Annell Pierce, 85, of Ocilla died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Irwin County Hospital. 

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Mystic Baptist Church with interment in Mystic Cemetery in Mystic. The Rev. J.A. Clements and Rev. Kirk Loyless will officiate.

A native of Mystic, Miss Pierce moved back to Ocilla after retiring from teaching. She had taught school in Mystic, Hazelhurst, Nashville, Columbus, Ga., and Orlando, Fla. She was named Teacher of the Year while in Columbus, Ga. She was a graduate of Andrews College in Cuthbert, Ga., Ga. State College for Women, Milledgeville and received her masters degree from Auburn University. She was a member of Irwinville United Methodist Church in Irwinville.

Survivors include her sisters, Ollirette Pierce of Ocilla and Teeny P. Giddens of Nashville, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Eddie Robinson Pierce and a brother, J.W. Pierce Jr.

Mrs. Roushey was a native of Oxen Hill, Md., born April 20, 1920, daughter of the late Clarance and Maybell Roushey. Mrs. Roushey had lived the past 10 years in Bronwood. She was a homemaker and a member of Bronwood United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roushey and a daughter, Sandra Miller.

Survivors include three daughters, Priscilla Seymour of Bronwood, Gail Ann Vanik of Lorton, Va., Terry Lynn Hays of Waldolf, Md., and one son, Jeffery F. Keyser of Waldolf, Md.; three grandchildren, Charles H. Radcliffe, Neal Radcliffe and Dante Ferrigno, all of Albany, Ga., and four great-grandchildren, Aree Radcliffe, Nichols Radcliffe, Scarlett Ferrigno and Matteo Ferrigno, all of Albany, Ga.

FITZGERALD — Leonard M. Smith, 56, of Fitzgerald died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at his residence.

A native of Ben Hill County, Mr. Smith had lived in the community all of his life. He was a retired truck driver, a former employer of United Farm Tools and Coachmen Industries. He was a member and former deacon of Northside Baptist Church and attended Fitzgerald Church of God. Mr. Smith served with the Georgia National Guard for seven years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Mathews Smith of Fitzgerald; two sons, Tony Smith and Paul Smith, both of Fitzgerald; five brothers, Jack Smith, Wayne Smith and Bill Smith, all of Fitzgerald and Lamar Smith of Plains and Ray Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
