SYLVESTER Doris Bolton, 79, of Sylvester, GA, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at her residence.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow in Floral Memory Gardens. Dr. Ron Baxley will officiate.

A native of Mitchell County, Mrs. Bolton had lived in Worth County for the past four years. She was retired from Coats and Clark after 35 years of service. Her husband, Cecil L. Bolton, preceded her in death on September 2, 2000.

She is survived by three daughters, Patsy Adams and her husband, John (Skip) of Sylvester, GA, Kay McDonald and her husband, Larry of Sylvester, GA and Sandra Miller of Albany, GA; one son, Paul Laramore and his wife, Angie of Albany, GA; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laramore, 328 Martindale Road, Albany, GA, and will receive friends today at Kimbrell-Stern from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

ALBANY Agatha Merita Doyle, 66, of 812 Ransom Acres Lane died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Albany.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mathews Funeral Home with interment in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery in Fort Mitchell at 3 p.m. Pastor Mario Cruz will officiate.

A native of Malone, Fla., Mrs. Doyle had lived in Albany for the past 10 years moving from Slocomb, Ala. She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Doyle of Albany; a daughter, Shelia Mae Watts of Slocomb; four sons, Dennis Mitchell Doyle of Thomaston, Henry Will Doyle of Albany, Tommy Drew Doyle of Tallahassee, Fla., and Franklin Allen Doyle of Albany; three sisters, Coda Johnson and Mary Ann Ross, both of Opopka, Fla., and Henrietta Belcher of Greer, S.C.; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

ALBANY Susie M. Ellis, 93, of 610 Lincoln Ave., Albany, died Monday, June 18, 2001, of pneumonia in Atlanta.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's and St. Mark's Episcopal Church with interment in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Joe W. Cliff will officiate.

A native of Atlanta, Mrs. Ellis was a retired teacher. She received her bachelor's degree in English from Clark Collage, master's degree in curriculum and doctoral degree in education from Atlanta University.

Mrs. Ellis was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Utilis Matronae Club, Albany Urban League Guild, National Association for Retired Persons, Ladies Independent Business Club, Retired Teachers Association, Grier Medical and Dental Association and National Dental Association. She was also a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Josephine Ellis Reynolds of Newark, Delaware; son, Virlyn "Bubba" Ellis, daughter-in-law, Sandye Ellis of Atlanta, Ga.; two granddaughters, Victoria N. Ellis of Tallahassee, Fla. and Adrianne Reynolds Quarles of New Castle, Delaware; one grandson, Virlyn Todd Ellis of Miami, Fla.; grandson-in-law, Sean A. Quarles of New Castle, Delaware, and numerous relatives, Godchildren and friends.

The remains will lie in state at the Elliott Funeral Home Chapel today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A native of Columbus, GA, Mrs. Johnson has lived in Albany for 45 years, where she was retired from Durham Scrap Material Co. in 1986 and W.T. Grants after 15 years of service.

Mr. Najdek was born May 5, 1942, in Steelton, PA, the son of Thomas Michael Najdek and Mary Louise Sorg Najdek. He was a heavy equipment operator for the logging industry, a Vietnam War Veteran, a member of Damascus Baptist Church, and a member of the Geeslin-Sharley American Legion Post No. 85.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Albany with visitation to follow. The Rev. Dr. James Ramsey will officiate.

A native of Provo, Utah, Mr. Gergen was a retired business owner and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was an honorary board member of Georgia Southwestern Sportsman Club, hunter safety instructor in Albany and a member of Flint River Long Rifles. He was also a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church in Columbus, formerly First Baptist Church in Albany.

James Madison Head II
ALBANY James Madison Head II, 53, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at the Veteran's Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.

Memorial services, with military honors, will be held today, June 9, 2001, at 4 p.m. at his home on County Line Road in Sylvester, Ga.

To his wife he was Jim; to his sons he was Dad; to his granddaughters he was Granddaddy; to others he was Jimmy. In his lifetime the world barely recovered from "the war to end all wars" before it was ravaged by the wars in Korea, Viet Nam, and the Persian Gulf. Because of his service those who mourn his death can admire him for his sacrifices.

He served with valor in the Big Red One, First Infantry Division. He was a decorated Viet Nam war veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #30 and the DAV.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Gail Head and son, James M. Head III of Albany, Ga.; son, Jeffrey Head of Tallahassee, Fla.; granddaughters, Tessa Head and Jeanie Head, both of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Linda Pealer of Lakeland, Fla., and Leslie Grant of Panama City, Fla.; three brothers, Lester Head of Panama City, Fla., Patrick Berry of Gainesville, Fla., and Michael D. Head of Danville, Ill.

DAWSON LeKevious "Kee" Rashad Alexander, 12, of Ward Street, Shellman, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at his residence.

"Kee" achieved his grammar school education in the Randolph-Clay County School System.

Very early on Kee set high standards by achieving many awards for his excellence in learning and extracurricular activities. He was an "A" student and a member of the Randolph-Clay High School Band. Intelligent, loving and obedient, Kee was a delightful child. His hobbies included a love for basketball, home construction and computers.

BAINBRIDGE Nolan D. Harrell Sr., 52, of Bainbridge died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Black Jack Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

James Brady Jones
DAWSON James Brady Jones, 68, of Philadelphia, Pa., died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at his residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Terrell County, Ga., with burial in Sardis Cemetery, Dawson, Ga., the Rev. Marvin Brown, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Calhoun County, Ga., will officiate.

Mr. Jones worked for Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the maintenance department from 1968 until 1994 upon retirement.

Left to cherish his memories are; stepmother, Johnnie Mae Jones of Dawson, Ga.; son, James V. Jones ((Patricia) of Dover, Del.; a daughter, Carmen Una Jones of Philadelphia, Pa.; grandson, Jonathan V. Jones of Dover, Del.; brothers, Clarence Jones of Philadelphia, Pa., Alphonia Jones, Nathaniel Jones and Curtis Jones (Juanita), all of Dawson, Ga., Tony Jones (Betty) of Austin, Texas, and Edgar Jones (Sharon) of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Willie Garfield Jones preceded him in death. Eight sisters, Juanita Tyson and Gussie Mae Jones, both of Philadelphia, Pa., Jennie Sue Battle of Dawson, Ga., Eddie Dean Thomas and Doris Miller, both of Albany, Ga., Janice Johnson of Parrot, Ga., and Callie Mae Davis of Hollywood, Fla.; one sister, Mary N. Harper preceded him in death. Five brothers-in-law, Benjamin Tyson of Orlando, Fla., Theodore Harper of Nashville, Tenn., Charlie Thomas of Easton, Pa, James H. Miller of Albany, Ga., and David Lee Brown of Parrot, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Charlie Battle preceded him in death. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Wilma Ruth Murphy
MOULTRIE Wilma Ruth Murphy, 84, of 894 Shade Murphy Road, Moultrie, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Brownwood Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Temple Baptist Church with interment in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. The Rev. Terry Webb will officiate.

The grandchildren will serve as casket bearers.

A native of Colquitt County, Mrs. Murphy was retired general laborer with Colquitt County. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, William R. "Bill" Murphy of Moultrie; sons, Gary S. Murphy and wife, Kathy of Tifton and Vick W. Murphy and wife, Tammy of Moultrie; daughter, Sheila R. Murphy Boyd of Moultrie; sisters, Grace Carlton of Albany, Louise Owens of Moultrie and Georgie Jackson of Thomasville; seven grandchildren, Jeff S. Murphy Sr., Angela S. Hornback, William Russ Murphy II, Benjamin Will Murphy, Adam Chad Murphy, Lanny Tait Jones and Dustin Paul Jones; and four great-grandchildren, Jeff S. Murphy Jr., Lauren Kathleen Murphy, Amanda Ellen Murphy and William Leslie Hornback IV. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Effie Bobo Abercrombie and a brother, Marvin S. Abercrombie.

DAWSON Ozie "Baby Doll" Sherman, 89, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Summer Hill Elder Care Nursing Home in Perry, Ga.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2001, at Atoc African Methodist Episcopal Church, 368 Sixth Avenue NW, Dawson, Ga., with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The Rev. E.X. King, pastor will officiate.

Ozie "Baby Doll" attended the public schools of Stewart County. She was a cook in the public school system of Terrell County, Ga., for a number of years.

Survivors left to cherish her precious memories are: one daughter, Rosa Grimes Whitlock of Albany, Ga.; two sons, Willie A. Sherman of Dawson, Ga., and Roy B. Sherman of Albany, Ga.; five sisters, Thelma L. Myers and Enner L. Hughley, both of Dawson, Ga., Annie (Robert) L. Simmons of Albany, Ga., Elmyra (Roy) Rumph of Atlanta, Ga., and Sally (Gene) L. Ingram of Fort Valley, Ga.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
