ALBANY — The funeral service of Bonnie Jean Brandt Aumsbaugh, 57, of 154 Stilwell Circle, who died Monday, April 9, 2001, will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery. 

A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Aumsbaugh had resided in Albany since 1973, moving from Valdosta. Mrs. Aumsbaugh was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church and The Albany Jaycees and Jaycetts. She was a past president of The Albany Jaycetts and the first female life member of The Albany Jaycees. She was Jaycette of the Year in Valdosta in 1972 and in Albany in 1978. 

Survivors include her husband, Dave Aumsbaugh of Albany; two sons, Dave Aumsbaugh Jr. and Dennis Aumsbaugh, both of Albany; two sisters, Frances M. Bird and Mary Jane Phillis, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers, Horace Brandt and Kenneth Brandt, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Robert Brandt of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two grandsons, Andy and Zachery Aumsbaugh of Albany. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Aumsbaugh. 

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Mathews Funeral Home and visitation will follow until 9 p.m.

ALBANY — Mary Greggs-Bass, 77, of 1414 Colquitt Ave. died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. 

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Albany Deliverance Cathedral with interment in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Isaiah Revills will officiate. 

A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Greggs-Bass was a homemaker. She attended Randolph County public schools and was a member of First Albany Deliverance Cathedral and the Golden Key Club. 

Survivors include one daughter, Delores Walton of Cuthbert; one son, Theotis Bass of Cuthbert; five sisters, Minnie Lee Brown, Willie Ruth Greggs, Grace Martin and Louise Jerry, all of Albany and Esther Hicks of Forestville, Md.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Sussie Mae Roberts-Harrold
ALBANY — Sussie Mae Roberts-Harrold, 75, of 822 West Lincoln Ave., Albany, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. 

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at County Line Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Columbus Williams and the Rev. J.H. Reynolds will officiate. 

A native of Terrell County, Mrs. Roberts-Harrold was a graduate of Dunbar Training School in Sasser, Ga., and served as an usher at County Line Baptist Church, President of the Deaconess Board, Secretary of the Senior Usher Board, and was a member of Artesian Chapter #217 O.E.S., and a member of the Golden Key Club. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church. 

Survivors include a devoted friend, R.D. Boyd of Albany; three daughters, Daisy McAfee of Atlanta, Willie Pearl Thomas and Susan Harrold, both of Albany; five sons, James Robinson, Theodore Harrold, John Harrold, Ronnie Harrold and Norris James Robinson, all of Albany; two sisters, Ozella Washington of Jacksonville, Fla. and Rosa Sheard of Sasser; an aunt, Charlie Will Roberts of Albany; an uncle, Sylvester Roberts of Albany; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

SYLVESTER — Conrad Savage, 67, of 604-A Wallace St., Sylvester, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. 

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Hope Cemetery in Crisp County. Pastor Steve H. Tate will officiate. 

A native of Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Savage has lived in Worth County since 1991, moving here from Kissimmee and St. Cloud, Fla. He was an aero space engineer. Mr. Savage was a Navy and Air Force veteran having served in Viet Nam. He was a member of Sanctuary of Praise Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Patti Savage of Sylvester; two sons, Mark Thomas Savage of Peachtree City, Ga., and Keith Andrew Savage of Kissimmee, Fla.; daughter, Kim Janese Hanson of Tampa, Fla.; his mother, Mildred Norberg of Swainsboro, Ga.; a stepson, Michael Joseph Long; two stepdaughters, Kathleen K. Sebastiani of Melbourne, Fla., and Laura A. Fink of Bainbridge, Ga.; two sisters, Carolyn Martin of Swainsboro, Ga., and Laura Welsh of Federal Way, Washington; and 12 grandchildren.

Cooper A. Smith 
GAFFNEY, S.C. — Dr. Cooper A. Smith, 68, of 1911 W. Buford St., died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at his residence. 

The funeral was held Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church with burial in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Blacksburg. 

Born in the Kings Creek community of Blacksburg, S.C., he was the son of the late Amzi Smith and the late Gertrude Corry Howell Smith. He was a graduate of Blacksburg Centralized High School and received a B.A. degree in English from A&T State University and post graduate degrees from Howard University, Harvard University and Atlanta University. 

Dr. Smith wrote and published short stories, magazine articles and essays. He occasionally served as a columnist for The Gaffney Ledger and as a freelance columnist for The Charlotte Observer. He served as municipal judge for the city of Gaffney from 1992 to 1999. 

Survivors include his wife, Doris Davis Smith; a son, Kim Smith of Gaffney, formerly of Albany, Ga.; and a daughter, Chineta Goodjoin of Spartanburg.

SYLVESTER — Mary Smith Thompson, 54, of 224 Griffin Houston Road, Poulan, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. 

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Banks Funeral Chapel with interment in Sumner Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Burns will officiate. 

A native of Carrabelle, Fla., Mrs. Thompson had lived in Worth County for the past 35 years. She was a retired truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. 

Survivors include her husband, Bill Thompson of Poulan; daughter, Connie Thompson of Poulan; son, James Richard Thompson of Poulan; four sisters, Frances Thompson of Poulan, Laquita Kendall of Lindon, Tenn., Shirley Miller of TyTy, and Evelyn Chambless of Poulan; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Opie Watson Willis 
ALBANY — The funeral service of Mr. Opie Watson Willis (USN Ret.), 88, of 124 Katie Lynn St., Leesburg, who died Sunday, April 8, 2001, will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Jenkins will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery with full military honors. 

A native of Turner County, Ga., Mr. Willis had resided in Leesburg since 1965 when he retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. He was also a retired representative with Life of Alabama Insurance Company. Mr. Willis was a member of Alpha Baptist Church and was a Mason. 

Survivors include his wife, Margot Willis of Leesburg; a son, Wade Willis of Lee County; two daughters, Nancy Harp of Lee County and Janis Gail Messer of Carabelle, Fla.; three brothers, Artis Watson of Mitchell County, Ga., Cecil Watson of Thomas County, Ga., and Melvin Watson of Dougherty County, Ga.; four sisters, Lucille Watson, Erline Easters and Ella Mae Knight, all of Albany and Earlene Threadgill of Lawrenceville, Ga.; six grandchildren, Thomas S. Vernard S. Booth 
AMERICUS — Mr. Vernard S. Booth, 74, of Americus, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Palmyra Medical Centers, in Albany, following a long illness. 

A native of Horseheads, N.Y., Mr. Booth was born May 5, 1926, son of the late Claude E. Booth and Bessie E. Spencer Booth. He lived in Americus for 24 years. 

The family met for a short time at Oak Grove Cemetery, Sunday at 2 p.m. Dr. Sam Harper said a few words. 

Mr. Booth retired in 1970 from the U.S. Navy, as chief in underwater demolition (SEALS.) He started a career at Georgia Pacific Corp. in Monroe, La., in 1971, then transferred to Albany, and became a designer with Corrugated Boxes, retiring with 28 patents. He raised quarter horses for 15 years, and enjoyed fishing. 

Family members include his wife, Ruth M. Booth of Americus; three daughters, Sheryl McLean of Albany, Joellen Booth of Texas, and Stephanie Booth Meyer of California; three sons, Mark Robison of Tennessee, Mark Booth of California, and Eric Booth of Florida; a brother, Kenneth Booth of Louisiana; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Anna Pamela Davis 
CUTHBERT — Anna Pamela Davis, 89, of Cuthbert died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at her residence. The graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenwood Cemetery in Cuthbert. The Rev. Keith Goodlett will officiate. 

Miss Davis was born Dec. 7, 1911 in Randolph County, daughter of the late Francis Henry Davis and India Crittenden Davis. She was former owner of Davis Hardware Store and Davis Toy Store. She was a lifelong member of Cuthbert United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Andrew College, was a charter member of the Cuthbert Pilot Club and served as president and all other offices. She was a volunteer at Andrew College Library and the American Red Cross. Miss Davis was also a member of the Cuthbert Little Theater. 

Survivors include two sisters, Martha E. Davis and Dorothy A. Davis, both of Cuthbert; two nieces, Judy Dixon and Carolyn Chastain of Moultrie; a nephew, Dr. Jay N. Cranford of Moultrie; eight great-nieces and nephews and three great-great-nephews.

Son of the late Lucille Normal Smith and Clarence Smith Sr., Mr. Smith was a native of Tift County. He was married to the late Melba Virginia Sumner Smith. He had lived in Ocilla since 1935. He was the owner/ operator of Ocilla Hardware and he was the Probate Judge for Irwin County for the past 37 years. Mr. Smith was a Mason, Shriner, member of the ElkÕs Club, and the Ocilla Business Association. He was the second Eagle Scout in Ocilla. Mr. Smith served in the US Navy. He was a member of the Ocilla Baptist Church and the Steadfast Seekers Sunday School Class. A native of Miller County, Mrs. Fort had lived in Albany for the past 65 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. Her husband was the late Thomas James Fort Jr. who died January 27, 1975.

Survivors include three daughters, Martha F. McDowell and Joyce F. Gaines, both of Albany and Janie C. Barbee of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, James L. Fort of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

ALBANY — Thelma Valentine Leadmon, 95, of 626 Indian Creek Drive, Albany, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at her residence.

Mrs. Leadmon had lived in Albany since 1988, moving from Apollo, Fla. She was a homemaker, a member of Faith Baptist Church, and a former member of Apollo Beach Baptist Church in Florida. She was the widow of Earl Thomas Leadmon.

Survivors include a son; Mars D. Leadmon of Maryland; two daughters, August L. Reed and her husband, Leonard Reed of Albany, and Rose Marie Neff of South Carolina; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren.

Petrona Underwood Malone
ALBANY — Petrona "Toni" Underwood Malone, 91, of Albany died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Wesley Woods in Atlanta.

Graveside services will at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Luthman will officiate. Visitation will be 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. today at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors. 
 

A native of Early County, Mrs. Malone was the youngest child of John Lancelot Underwood and Emma Howard Underwood. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Underwood, Pete Underwood, and Tom Underwood. She was a 1931 graduate of Shorter College in Rome, Ga. where she made honor roll throughout her college years. She was President of the Polymnian Society and served as President of the Shorter College Alumnae Association.

She will always be remembered by her multitude of friends and family for her sparkling personality and her "cat poem." She taught school in Southwest Georgia including the fourth grade in the Dougherty County School System. She was instrumental in forming the Albany Debutante Club, Albany Junior League and Albany Charity League, serving as President of the Charity League 1959-1960. She was active in Theatre Albany and Friends of Phoebe and was a member of the Albany Historical Society, Thronateeska Heritage Foundation and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and Covenant's Circle One.

Mrs. Malone played a tremendous role in her husband's election campaigns as State Court Judge for Dougherty County.

Survivors include her husband, Judge Rosser A. Malone of Atlanta; two sons, Rosser A. Malone Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Tommy Malone of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Carolyn Malone Buchanan, Toni Malone Atchley, Tommy Malone Jr. and Adam Malone; four great-grandchildren, Preston Locker Buchanan, Brett Malone Buchanan, Alexander Limbaugh Atchley, and William Tanner Atchley.
