Born in Jones County, she received a bachelor's degree from Fort Valley State University, a master's degree from Atlanta University, specialist degree in counseling from the University of Sarasota in Florida, and doctorate in counseling psychology. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, Bibb Association of Educators, Georgia Association of Educators, National Education Association and American Association of School Counselors. She was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. A volunteer with VistaCare Hospice and Crisis Line, she received the Beacon Award for Counselors from the Bibb County Board of Education. She was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather Alma and Leonard Huff Sr. of Gray; father Charlie Ford of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers and sisters Wanda J. Collins of Macon, Rosilyn Ford of Boston, Renita Austin of Birmingham, Ala., Mazo Freeman of Nashville, Tenn., and Stanley Ford of Cleveland, Ohio; grandmother Lesie Mae Bland of Gray; and stepbrothers and stepsisters the Rev. HAWKINSVILLE - Services for Gladys McBurse Barnes will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Piney Grove Baptist Church with burial in Pine Bloom Cemetery. Barnes, 86, died Sunday, March 4, 2001. The daughter of the late Everette and Mariah McBurse, she was a dietitian, retired from the Pulaski County school system after more than 30 years. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she was secretary and Sunday School teacher, and member of the Georgia Union Missionary Baptist Association, where she was vice president for 27 years.

Survivors include her son Willie Barnes of Hawkinsville; sisters and brothers Mildred Stewart and Mervin McBurse, both of Oviedo, Fla., Verdell Bryant and Deotha Jackson, both of Orlando, Fla., Jean Singletary and Dorothy Dennis, both of Syracuse, N.Y., Everette McBurse Jr. of Hawkinsville and Horace McBurse of Norcross; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The daughter of the late Hillard Wilmore, she graduated from Crandall College. She was a member of Faulks Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School assistant.

The daughter of the late Eddie and Love Cherry, she was a homemaker and member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Ed Burnam.

Grimm, 59, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001. The daughter of the late James and Ethel Mae Davis Shumans, she was a homemaker and member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church.

Lindsey Hart Sr. 
 

Services for Lindsey Hart Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Aberlena Baptist Church with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Hart, 81, died Monday, March 5, 2001. He was retired from the city of Macon after 25 years. He was a member of Aberlena Baptist Church and usher board.

Survivors include his children Lindsey Hart Jr. of Macon and Donnie Alton Hart of Abilene, Texas; stepson Jerry Latimore of Macon; brother and sisters Willie Hart of Tampa, Fla., Dorothy Horne and Ailene Horne, both of Fitzgerald; and three grandchildren.

She was born in Atlanta, daughter of the late Olien Jones and Bessie Lee Tennant Jones. She was formerly employed at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was retired from J.P. Stevens. He was a deacon at Blue Water Baptist Church and member of Men's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Woodard McAfee; children Roger McAfee and Ann Christian, both of Dublin; sister Hazel Barnhill of St. Mathews, S.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Navy veteran, she was a medical transcriptionist and emergency medical technician with the Turner County EMS. She was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve during the early 1970s and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son Jeffery Ward of Sycamore; and brother Kenneth Kephart of Worcester, Mass.
