WARNER ROBINS - Services for J.C. Arant will be at 1 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with burial in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Arant, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. He was in the Army Reserve in 1942 and was owner and operator of The Furniture Mart, Penny Pincher's Shopp and real estate in Warner Robins. He was director and chairman of the Executive Council of Citizen's State Bank. He was a former member of the Optimist Club and charter member of Rotary of Warner Robins. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class. 

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Arant; children Anne Carpenter of Huntsville, Ala., and Nancy Payne of Kathleen; sisters Bernice Pittman of Dothan, Ala., Frances Smith of Luverne, Ala., and Julia Parker of Slapp Out, Ala.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Mark Brewer 

ROCHELLE - Services for Mark A. Brewer will be at 4 p.m. Friday in M.G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier and Son Funeral Home, Rochelle, with burial in Morningside Cemetery. Brewer, 39, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. The son of the late Grady Brewer, he was a carpenter and member of Bible Baptist Church. 

Survivors include three children; four stepchildren; mother Rachel Brewer of Rochelle; brother and sister Gary Brewer of Tifton and Linda Kellum of Macon; and a grandchild.

Lee Broadnax 

MILLEDGEVILLE - Services for Lee Olin Broadnax will be at 3 p.m. today in Black Springs Church Cemetery. Broadnax, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. He was retired from the city of Milledgeville after 33 years. 

Survivors include his wife, Annie Broadnax; children Franklin Broadnax of Oxford, Mary Tollison and Mattie Johnson, both of Milledgeville; sister Ethel Myers of Picayune, Miss.; and five grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today in Moores Funeral Home. 

Mary Burns 

ROBERTA - Services for Mary Lee Burns will be at 3 p.m. today in Clark Funeral Home, Hawkinsville, with burial in Pulaski Bleckley Memorial Gardens. Burns, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. She was a retired pecan grader having worked with Sommers Pecan Co. in Hawkinsville. She was a member of Broad Street Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her children Sandra Johnson of Roberta, Mary Black of Hawkinsville and Charles Burns of Milledgeville; sister and brother Estelle Melvin of Eastman and James Flanders of Norfolk, Va.; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. 

Clifford Cagle 

FITZGERALD - Services for Clifford L. "Cliff" Cagle will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Paulk Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Cagle, 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001. A Navy veteran, he was a retired public relations director from South Central Bell in Birmingham, Ala., was former president of the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Chamber of Commerce and was active on the state of Georgia Economic Development Committee. He was owner and designer of Mallard Point Golf Club. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and Rotary Club. 

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Cagle; children Scott Cagle of Birmingham and Cathy Mims of Fitzgerald; brothers and sister Alton Cagle and Pauline Kilday, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Robert Cagle of Thomasville; and two grandchildren.

Robert Chambers 

FITZGERALD - Services for Robert L. Chambers will be at 4:30 p.m. today in Old Smyrna Cemetery, Uvalda. Chambers, 70, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. An Army veteran, he was a weaver, retired from Fitzgerald Mills. He was a Baptist. 

Survivors include his children Johnny Chambers of Nashville, Ga., Dennis Chambers of Tifton and Gloria Kinnett of Fitzgerald; mother Lucille Chambers of Fitzgerald; brother Clifford Chambers of Fitzgerald; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Melvin Combs Sr. 

Services for Melvin Combs Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in New Home Baptist Church, Macon, with burial in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Jones County. Combs, 50, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2001. He was born in Bibb County, son of the late Charlie and Eugenia Combs. He was formerly employed at Riverside Cemetery and Massey Apartments. 

Survivors include his wife, Karolyn Combs; children Dametha Combs, Shandra Combs, Taquana Combs and Melvin Combs Jr., all of Macon; brothers and sisters Leroy Andrews, Albert Combs, Alfred Combs, Valane Stevens and Pearl Raines, all of Macon, and Howard Combs of Anchorage, Alaska; stepmother Laura Wiley of Macon; stepdaughter Sherome Harris of Macon; and 11 grandchildren.

Claribell Conner 

WARNER ROBINS - Services for Claribell Conner will be at 3 p.m. today in Glen Haven Cemetery. Conner, 97, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. A schoolteacher, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and Circle No. 4 of First Presbyterian Senior Mixed Bowling League. 

Survivors include her nephews George Marggraff of Douglasville and Nicholas Lindsey of Edisto Island, S.C.

Addie Dennard 

CORDELE - Services for Addie Mae Dennard will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Gethsemane Baptist Church with burial in Bethel Cemetery. Dennard, 72, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Pecola Durham and the foster daughter of the late Lee and Willie Lou Jackson. The widow of Henry Dennard, she was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and a homemaker. 

Survivors include her children Johnny Byrom of Cordele, Addie Montgomery of San Antonio, Texas, Debbie Dennard and James Dennard, both of Orlando, Fla.; brothers and sisters Clifford Durham of Vienna and Felix Durham of Gary, Ind., Juanita Abrams and Lucy Durham, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Bernice Harris of Cordele and Patricia Tiller of Gainesville, Fla.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

DUBLIN - Services for Ida Mae Elkins will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Shady Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Elkins, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001. 

Survivors include her sisters Nobie Jackson of Dublin and Pennie Washington of Macon.

William Ezell 

ROBERTA - Services for William Ezell will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Macedonia CME Church with burial in the church cemetery. Ezell died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001. He worked at Bibb Manufacturing and was retired from the Department of Transportation. He was a member of Macedonia CME Church and the steward board. 

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Ezell; children Daisy McCrary of Fort Valley and Clara Brown of Atlanta; brother and sister Curtis Ezell of Macon and Louise Rumph of Fort Valley; four grandchildren.

Tindol Fowler 

ALAMO - Memorial services for Tindol Harry "Buddy" Fowler will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae. Fowler, 59, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. The son of the late Gurvis Fowler, he was a self-employed welder. 

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Fowler; children Lisa Dixon of Alamo, Pamela Beasley, Tindol Fowler and Eric Fowler, all of Savannah; mother Mattie Fowler of Alamo; sister Lynette White of Kinston, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

Robert Gibson 

BUENA VISTA - Services for Robert Lee Gibson will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Zion Baptist Church with burial in Pineville Cemetery. Gibson, 67, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001. The son of the late Horace Gibson and Mae Gibson, he was a logger. He was the widower of Bernice S. Gibson. 

Survivors include his children Ernestine Gibson of Atlanta and Joyce Franklin of Buena Vista; brother Blance Gibson of Brunswick; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Chester Grimes 

FORT VALLEY - Services for Chester Grimes will be at 3 p.m. Friday in St. Peter AME Church with burial in Willowlake Memorial Garden Cemetery. Grimes died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001. He worked for the city of Fort Valley for 22 years and was a volunteer fireman for the Peach County Fire Department. He was a member of the Fred Douglas Lodge No. 143 PHA, MASAB Temple No. 11, J.H. Walker Consistory and member and secretary of Sons of Allen. He was an official for the Peach County Recreation Department, a 1980 youth basketball coach and scout master for Troop No. 60. He was a member of St. Peter AME Church, steward board, lay organization, finance committee, JC Reynolds and male choir, and usher board. 

Survivors include his daughter Katrina Everett of Fort Valley; father Luther Grimes Sr. of Fort Valley; brother Michael Grimes, Luther Grimes Jr. and David West, all of Fort Valley; and three grandchildren.

Leroy Hudson 

Services for Leroy "Mickey" Hudson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bentley & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Hudson, 60, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001. The son of the late Dudley Hudson and Lucille Johnson, he was retired from Armstrong World Industries. 

Survivors include his children Michael Hudson, Leroy Hudson Jr., Willie Hudson, Kelvin Henry, Christopher Waller, Michelle Waller and Phyllis Henry, all of Macon; brother Willie James Penix of Macon; and six grandchildren.

Yvonne Johnson 

ARABI - Services for Yvonne Scott Johnson will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hughes & Wright Funeral Home, Cordele, with burial in Zion Hope Cemetery. Johnson, 56, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001. She was retired deputy commissioner with the Department of Human Resources and was a member of Warwick United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Johnson; children Traci Johnson and Scott Johnson, both of Douglasville; mother Louise Scott of Arabi; and brother William Scott of Augusta.

Mary Johstono 

Services for Mary V. Johstono will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Hart's Mortuary with burial in Macon Memorial Park. Johnstono died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001. She was head of nursing at the Bibb County Health Department from 1940 until 1946 and was a consultant nurse with the Georgia State Health Department. A volunteer with the American Red Cross, she was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include her brothers Donald Johstono and Roy E. Johstono, both of Macon.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Services for Billie Amerson Jones will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery, north gate. Jones, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001. She was a retired manager from Headliner Shop. She was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her children David Jones of Wilsonville, Ala., and Barbara J. Menton of Chelsea, Ala.; brother and sisters George Amerson of Clarkesville, Ark., Reba Lanier of Macon, Annelle Love of Alleyton, Texas, and Helen Emerson; and three grandchildren.

Jane Miller 

ALBANY - Services for Jane Huckabee Miller will be at 3 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church. Miller, 82, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at her residence. She was born in Bibb County, having lived in Albany for the past 55 years, moving from Macon. She was the former co-owner of Miller Buick. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and former member of First United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Junior League of Albany. 

Survivors include her children Vic Miller and Marjorie Jane Miller, both of Albany; and grandchildren Maudelle Driskell, Jimmy Miller, Mary McNamee, Maisy Miller and Misty Musgrove.

Reagan Millions 

Services for Reagan McCoy Millions, infant daughter of Tonya and Reginald Millions, will be private. Reagan died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001.

Willie Morris 

HEPHZIBAH - Services for Willie James Morris will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Friendship Chapel with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Morris, 61, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001. He received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Voorhees College. He was retired from the Army having received the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and several others. He was a contractor to the government. 

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Morris; children Constance Morris and Angela Bowie, both of Hephzibah, and June Threatt of Macon; mother Ethel Morris of Macon; brothers and sisters Fletcher Morris, Brenda Morris, Phyllis Taylor, Phillip Morris, David Morris, Homer Gordon, Aralee White, all of Macon, and Edward Morris of Douglasville; and three grandchildren.

BARNESVILLE - Services for Mary Iris Rayl will be at 2 p.m. today in Haisten-Martin Funeral Home with burial in Vega Cemetery. Rayl, 64, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001. 

Survivors include her children Robert Rayl of Griffin, Suzanne Delgado of High Springs, Fla., and Karen L. Weathers of Barnesville; brothers and sisters Harold Henderson of Port Orange, Fla., Larry Henderson of Jackson, Barbara Allen of Barnesville and Betty Bodie of Hampton; and seven grandchildren. 

Louise Ridley 

EASTMAN - Services for Louise M. Ridley will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Southerland Funeral Chapel with burial in Zion Hope Cemetery. Ridley, 71, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. A retired teacher from Dodge County schools, she was a member of Chauncey United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include her husband, Charley Ridley; children Karen Dunn and Glenda Graham, both of Eastman; sisters and brother Augustine Stevens of Warner Robins, Doris Sexton of Tampa, Fla., and William Maddox of Rhine; and three grandchildren.

Survivors include her children Jeffrey Ryals Sr. of Pawleys Island and Michael Ryals of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters and brother Gloria Baldwin, Elsie Crane and Carol Dean, all of Cordele, and E.A. Cox of Cairo; and three grandchildren.

ABBEVILLE - Services for Sarah Bell Satterfield will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Abbeville with burial in Stubbs Cemetery. Satterfield, 93, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. The daughter of the late William and Annie Goodman, she was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her son Emory Goodman of Brunswick; sister Myrtle Thornton of Abbeville; and seven grandchildren.

Samuel White Sr. 

DUDLEY - Services for Samuel White Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Byrd Hill Baptist Church with burial in Dudley Memorial Cemetery. White, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001. He was a farmer. 

Survivors include his children Samuel White Jr. of Macon, Christine White of Washington, D.C., and Mildred Hall of Dublin; several grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

IDEAL - Services for Lillian Phillis Duckworth Wilson will be at 2 p.m. today in Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens. Wilson died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001. The widow of Willard Wilson, she was a homemaker and member of Ideal Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her children Willard Wilson of Morristown, Ariz., and Loretta Clay of Ideal; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

ANDREW, Phillip Harmon: 56, of 900 Airport Road, Lot 93, Chattanooga, Tenn., died Tuesday in Macon. Funeral services will be announced by Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, Soddy Daisy, Tenn. Crest Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. 
BOWEN, Roger Wade: 76, of Macon, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001. Services and burial will be private. Mr. Bowen was born in Telfair County, Georgia, and had lived in Macon for the past 50 years. He was a carpenter and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors: daughters, Gena Ford and Lisa H. Prince, both of Macon; and son, Roger Michael Bowen of Indianapolis, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; sister Ruby Perkins of Ocala, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Miss Johstono was head of nursing at Bibb County Health Department from 1940 until 1946. She was a consultant nurse with the Georgia State Health Department and was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross after retiring in 1970. Survivors: Brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald L. and Betsy Johstono of Macon and Roy E. and Roberta Johstono of Macon; 17 nieces and nephews. Hart's Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

SHIRAH, James Suard: 84, of 2775 Lanier Heights Road, died Monday, January 29, 2001 in a local hospital. Services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2001 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary with the Reverend Charles Nall officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel Church Cemetery. He was the son of the late Clifford Preston Shirah and the late Mary Bethine Beverly Shirah. Mr. Shirah was predeceased by his son, William Clifton Shirah, and by his daughter, Ruby Lanelle Shirah. TODD, Franklin C.: 61, of 1212 Gray Highway, died Monday, January 29, 2001. Services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2001, at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary with the Reverend Darrell Watson. Burial will be at 2:30PM at Woodlawn Cemetery, Perry, GA. McDANIEL, James Michael: of Macon, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001. Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Hillcrest United Methodist Church. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Ingleside Memorial Chapel had charge of arrangements. 

SLOAN, Elizabeth "Sister" Ethridge: 85, of Gray, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Elam Baptist Church with burial in James Cemetery, James, Ga. The Rev. Gary Thomas and the Rev. Clay Bowden officiated. Simpson-Childs Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. 

BROWN, Barbara: 78, died Jan. 31, 2001. Family will be residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie J. Chambers, 950 Ousley Place, Macon, GA 31210. Services: incomplete. Snow's Memorial Chapel has charge of arrangements. 

JONES, Billie Amerson: 81, formerly of Macon, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in Westover, Ala. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Riverside Cemetery, entering through the north gate. The Rev. Andy Oxford will officiate. Family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Lanier, 4503 Rivoli Drive, Macon, GA 31210. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Suite 201, 277 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Macon, GA 31201. Mrs. Jones, the widow of George S. Jones, was born in Wadley, Georgia, daughter of the late Stephen H. and Rosa Walker Amerson. She was general manager, retired from the Headliner Shop. Mrs. Jones was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Birmingham, Ala. Survivors include her son, David Stephen Jones of Wilsonville, Ala.; her daughter, Barbara Jones Menton of Chelsea, Ala.; three grandchildren Sandy Clark and Shane Gibson, both of Birmingham, Ala., and Michael Pitman of Charlotte, N.C.; her brother, George Amerson of Clarksville, Ark.; her sisters, Reba Lanier of Macon, Helen Emerson, formerly of Macon, and Annelle Love of Alleyton, Texas. Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements. 

RILEY, Taylor M.: 82, of Macon, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Ga. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Houston Heights Baptist Church with burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, Ky. Family will be at the residence. The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Houston Heights Baptist Church, 4439 Tech Drive, Macon, GA 31206. Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, has charge of arrangements. 

THIGPEN, James Angelus "Tutt": 75, of 5635 Janeru Circle, Macon, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, in a local hospital. Services were 3 p.m. Wednesday in Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Entombment was in Macon Memorial Park. Dr. C. Michael Blizzard and Dr. Alton Ellis officiated. Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, had charge of arrangements.
