THOMASTON - Services for Richard Lee Bailey will be at 2 p.m. today in New Hope Baptist Church with burial in Upson Memorial Gardens. Bailey, 74, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was retired from Thomaston Mills as an electrician for 47 years. He attended New Hope Baptist Church and was a former member of VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Bailey; children Steve Bailey and Sharon Craft, both of Thomaston; brothers Joel Bailey and Johnny Bailey, both of Thomaston; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Helen Bedingfield 
 

TUCKER - Services for Helen Burch Bedingfield will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Northview Cemetery. Bedingfield, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. 

Survivors include her children John P. Bedingfield of Tucker and Alan Bedingfield of Pine Mountain; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ruby Breedlove 
 

CHAUNCEY - Services for Ruby Lee Burch Breedlove will be at 4 p.m. today in Lovely Grove Baptist Church, Eastman, with burial in Lovely Grove Cemetery, Dodge County. Breedlove, 58, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur Harris; children Kathy R. Johnson and Barbara R. Mullis, both of Plainfield, Ruby Jo Gibson of McRae, Stephanie Godsey of Chauncey, April Godsey of Milan and Billy Jo Hulett of Jacksonville and Joey Sheppard of Chauncey; brother Steve W. Burch of Chauncey; and 26 grandchildren.

Betty Chambers 
 

Services for Betty Jane Chambers will be at 2 p.m. today in Hart's Mortuary with burial in Macon Memorial Park. Chambers, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Nighttime Circle and taught the R.L. Anderson Bible Class. She was a bookkeeper at Cherokee National Life Insurance Co. 

Survivors include her husband, Grover Chambers; daughter Lia Smith of Macon; sister Genevieve Schuster of Milledgeville; and a grandchild.

MILLEDGEVILLE - Services for Franklin Robert Connally will be at 3 p.m. today in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Connally, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was retired from Industrial Welding and Supply Co. He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter Carol Smith of Milledgeville; and granddaughter Tiffany Thompson of Milledgeville.

WRIGHTSVILLE - Services for Rosie L. Costley will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Plaints Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Costley, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. The daughter of the late Henry and Frohnnie Cooper, she was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. She was the widow of Milton E. Costley.

Survivors include her children Cooper Costley of East Dublin and Frankie Costley of Wrightsville; several grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

HELENA - Services for Nellie Pearl Dykes will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lowe's Funeral Home with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Dykes, 73, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001. She was retired from the lunchroom at McRae Helena Primary and was a homemaker. She was a member of Helena Baptist Church and widow of Odis Dykes.

Survivors include her children Jane D. Meeks of Helena and Ricky Dykes of Macon; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

JACKSON - Services for Lena Barbee England will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sherell, Wilson, Mangham Funeral Home with burial in Roberta City Cemetery. England, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. She was a Baptist.

DUBLIN - Services for Herbert D. "Buddy" Faulk will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Faulk, 72, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001. The son of the late Herbert and Mary Faulk, he was the owner of Citgo Auto Sales and was a member of First Baptist Church in Glenville.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Isalene Faulk; and stepson Derrick Davis of Savannah; and two stepgrandchildren.

EASTMAN - Services for Velma "Tobe" Freeman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Horne-Hardy Funeral Home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Freeman, 84, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001. She was a retired textile employee and florist and member of Cottondale Baptist Church.

Services for Joe W. Green will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Bentley & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Union Bibb Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Green, 51, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001. The son of the late Joe Green Sr. and Bessie Ross, he was a retired truck driver for the city of Macon. He was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children Cheryl Howard, Bobby Howard and Bessie Howard, all of Macon, and Barbara Askew of Warner Robins; brother and sister Samuel Ross and Dorothy Gooseby, both of Macon; and eight grandchildren.

Services for Alma Whidby Hunt will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Matthews Baptist Church with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Hunt, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001. The daughter of the late Andrew and Leola Green Whidby, she was a member and usher at St. Matthews Baptist Church. A homemaker, she was a former member of St. Paul AME Church. She was the widow of Bennie Hunt.

Survivors include her children Rozzie Hunt, Bennie Dumas, Janice Pointer, Debra Jordan and Michael Hunt, all of Macon; sisters Ruby Marsh, Annie Williams and Amelia Curry, all of Macon; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

BYRON - Services for Ronnie Jones will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Bethel AME Church with burial in Jones Family Cemetery. Jones died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. He attended Fort Valley State University and was a Navy veteran. He was a member of Bethel AME Church.

Survivors include his son Bryan K. Jones of Columbus; parents Rueben and Ola Jones of Byron; and sister Janet Jones of New Orleans.

Walter F. Jones 
 

Services for Walter Frank Jones will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Unionville Baptist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Jones, 56, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001. He was born in Macon, son of the late George Jones. He was a Vietnam War veteran and had worked for the Macon Water Authority. He was a member of Unionville Baptist Church, where he was Sunday School superintendent, member of the deacon board, senior and male ushers, senior ministries and pastor's support ministry. 

Survivors include his wife, Vanessa A. Jones; children Daniele Jones, Walter Channing Jones and Erin Jones, all of Macon; mother Ann Sims of Macon; sisters and brothers Patricia Causey and Willie Bill Jones, both of Lizella, Gypsy Hicks, Althea Swarze, Paul Parker, Wanda Sims, all of Macon, and Diane Johnson of New Jersey.

Survivors include his children Morgan Jump, Blake Jump and Dustin Jump, all of Falkville, Ala.; mother Patricia Jump of Eastman; father Ernie Jump of Eastman; brother Clay Jump of Eastman; and fiance Michelle Faulkner.

ASHBURN - Services for Frances C. Mangham will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Inaha Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Mangham, 77, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001. The daughter of the late Joe and Bertye Cravey, she was retired from the Turner County Middle School lunchroom. She was a member of Inaha Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children Dennis Mangham and Patsy Markham, both of Tifton, and Martha Miller of Ashburn; sisters Evelyn Tyson of Ashburn, Juanita Carr of Brookfield, Geneva Williams of Thomaston and Essie Arnold of Sycamore; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Memorial services for Candy Watson Peterson will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Hart's Mortuary. Peterson, 44, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001. A Baptist, she was the daughter of the late James Freeman.

ALBANY - Services for Juanita Dickey Ray will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Crown Hill Cemetery. Ray, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001. The widow of Edgar Woody and John Ray, she was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include her son William Woody of Seattle; sisters Mary Seashore of Ogden, Utah, and Jean Roberts of Montezuma; and two grandchildren.

CHAMBERS, Betty Jane, 81, of 875 Forest Lake Dr., S. died Sunday, January 21, 2001, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at the chapel of Hart's Mortuary with the Reverend J. R. Moreno officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. She was a bookkeeper at Cherokee National Life Insurance Company. Mrs. Chambers was the daughter of the late Frank Smetts and the late Charlotte Grant Smetts. She attended High School and Business College in Akron, Ohio. Mrs. Chambers is survived by her Husband, Grover Chambers of Macon; Daughter, Lia Smith of Macon; Grandchild, Christopher Smith of Macon; Sister, Genevieve Schuster of Milledgeville; and two nephews. FARRELL, J.W. "Jake", 77 of 789 Nottingham Drive, died Saturday, January 20, 2001 at his residence. Services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary with Dr. David Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. The family may be contacted at the residence. Mr. Farrell was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday school class. He retired as a lieutenant with the Macon Police Department. Mr. Farrell retired from Georgia Bank and Bank South after 22 years as head of security. He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of the Woodmen of the World. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II and received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Mr. Farrell was educated and lived in Bibb County. Mr. Farrell was preceded in death by a son, David Michael Farrell. Mr. Farrell is survived by his Wife, Catherine Farrell of Macon; Son and Daughter-in-law, Jerry and Linda Farrell of Macon; Brother and Sister-in-law, Dennis and Donna Lundy of Macon; Sister-in-law, Maudie B. Farrell of Macon; Brother-in-law, Jimmy W. Lundy of Macon; one grandson, Scott Farrell of Warner Robins; two great-grandsons, Jake Farrell and Jackson Farrell, both of Warner Robbins; several nieces and nephews. STEPHENS, Ray S.: 87, formerly of 5835 Angela Place, Macon, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Houston County Medical Center. Services were 10 a.m. Monday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Newnan. Dr. Wade Bridges, the Rev. Jim Ross and Dr. Kenneth Keene officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lawrence Drive Baptist Church Missions Fund, 5774 School Road, Macon, GA 31216. Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, had charge of arrangements.
