Robert Hall and Pat Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd-Williams Funeral Home directing. CLINTON BRICE THORP
Clinton Brice Thorp, 66, of Wausau, Fla., passed from this life on Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at the Bay Medical Center in Panama City. He had been a resident of Wausau since 1986 after coming from Washington. He was of the Baptist faith. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Wausau Memorial Gardens, Wausau, Fla., with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 5, 2000, at the chapel of Brown Funeral Home. Survivors are wife Jerry Thorp of Wausau; three sons, Clinton Bryce Thorp of San Angelo, Texas, Robert Allan Thorp of San Angelo, and Prinz Thorp of Los Angeles, Calif.; two stepsons, Hal Gras of Panama City and Stephen Gras of Chipley; one daughter, Wanda Stewart of East Jordan, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Sharlene Pyonk of Chipley; one brother, Thommy Thorp of Maybank, Texas; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchilren.

BEULAH MAY SLAY
Beulah May Slay, 95, of Chipley went to be with her savior on Nov. 30, 2000. Beulah was the fourth of 8 children of Jacob R. and Mazie Ann Hough, born on July 3, 1905, in Millville. She was Baptist by faith and was a member of the First Baptist church in Chipley. Her Lord, her family and her fishing were the most important things in her life. Her husband, John Brown Slay; and two sons, Roy and John Slay preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Hazel "Sissy," and Alton Davidson of Chipley; a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Stanley Varnum of Chipley; and a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Ray and Shirley Slay of Escondido, Calif.; two daughters-in-law, Inez slay of Chipley and Linda Slay of Escondido, Calif.; two sisters Lucille Mitchell and her husband Marion, and Juanita Hough, both of California; a brother-in-law, Carl Sowell and his wife Virginia of Graceville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be today, Dec. 3, 2000 at 3 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Chapel in Chipley, with the Rev. John Dickinson officiating. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Stanley Varnum Jr., Keith Varnum, Billy Williams, Travis Williams and Dennis and Phillip Davidson. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Chipley with Brown Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

ROOSEVELT DOUGLAS SR.
Mr. Roosevelt Douglas Sr., 97, of Fort Walton Beach, died Nov. 24, 2000, in a Destin Healthcare Center. He was a native of Ebro, Fla., and a retired landscaper. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday, Dec. 2, at St. Luke A.M.E. Church near Ebro with the Rev. Jerome Goodman officiating. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach, with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, directing. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Douglas of Fort Walton Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Roosevelt Jr. and Royce Douglas of Chipley; three daughters: Mrs. Willie B. Woods of Quincy, Dr. Thema D. Woods of Vernon, and Mrs. Connie Montgomery of Fort Walton Beach; a sister, Mrs. Eva Douglas of Cottonwood, Ala. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.

ELIZA DEAL
Mrs. Eliza Deal, 96, formerly of Holmes County, Fla., passed away Nov. 29, 2000, at Bay Medical Center. She resided with her daughter in Panama City for the last four years. She was preceded in death by her husband J.H. Deal and daughter Laverne York. She is survived by three daughters, Margie Gilmore of Panama City, Louise Paulk of Hartford, Ala. and Ruby Lee of Tampa; two sons, Buford Deal of Westville, Fla. and Junior Deal of Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Gilmore, Steve Paulk, Randy Deal, Danny Deal, Al York and Wayne Martin. Services are to be handled by Pittman Funeral in Geneva, Ala. and are incomplete at this time.

William Donald Sapp, 51 of Cottondale, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 28, 2000 at his residence. Arrangements will be announced by Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Jason Allen Ward, age 28, of Graceville, died Tuesday November 28, 2000 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 at Rehobeth Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Free officiating. Services and Burial will follow on 3:00 PM EST Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at Emporia Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Walker officiating. Burial will be in Emporia Cemetery, Emporia, FL, Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000 at the funeral home. Jason will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Ola Thomas Padgett, Chipley, Fla., died Nov. 28, in her home. Funeral services will be today at 10 a.m. from Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Panama City, Fla., with the Rev. Bruce Raley and the Rev. James Eden officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Webb Cemetery in Webb. Those desiring to may make contributions to the Emerald Coast Hospital of Marianna, Fla., in memory of Ola Thomas Padgett.

BETTY LOU OWENS PAUL
Mrs. Betty Lou Owens Paul, 61, of Greenhead, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at her home. Mrs. Paul was born in Bristol and was a homemaker. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Allen Weathers. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Gene Weathers and Michelle Weathers of Panama City; one daughter, Debora Lou Weathers of Greenhead; four grandchildren, Heather Weathers, Brandy Hodge and Husband Darrell Hodge, Amber Gray and Alexis Weathers; two great-grandchildren, Austin Teague and Taya Ann Hodge; one sister, Lavada O'Bryan of Panama City and family. She was predeceased by a brother, Edgear Owens. She was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a very special lady who was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. EST at the Bristol Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Margaret Whitehead officiating. Interment followed in Lake Mystic Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home, Bristol, is in charge of the arrangements.

MARGARET HATCHER
Mrs. Margaret Hatcher, age 72, of 5146 Kaitlin Trail, Chipley, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at her home. She had been a resident of the area since 1958, coming from Washington, Pa. Mrs. Hatcher worked for Southern Bell for 34 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven, Fla. She was also a former member of Eastern Star and the Pioneers. Mrs. Hatcher is survived by a daughter, Ruth Buchanan of Chipley; three sons, Herschel Hatcher and his wife Joann of the Middle East, Alto Von Hatcher and his wife Mary of Atlanta, Ga., and Leslie DeVon Hatcher of Atlanta; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alto N. Hatcher; and two grandsons, Adam Buchanan and Brian Buchanan. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron L'Huillier officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Nov. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.

THELMA L. GLASS
Thelma L. Glass, 92, Graceville, died Sunday, Nov. 19, at Campbellton-Graceville Hospital in Graceville, Fla. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. from James & Lipford Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Kermit Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel Cemetery in Graceville with James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. She was born in Jackson County and lived in Jackson and Holmes Counties all her life. She was a homemaker. For the past 11 years she has resided at Jackson County Convalescent Center. She was a member of Fadette Assembly of God.

GUSSIE GILBERT
Gussie Gilbert, 103, of Chipley, passed from this life on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at the Washington County Convalescent Center in Chipley. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cottondale. The funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Wachob Chapel in Chipley with the Rev. Adolph Phares officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday Nov. 19, 2000, at the Wachob Chapel. Gilbert is survived by a son, John Douglas Gilbert and his wife, Julia of Orlando; two grandchildren, John Douglas Gilbert Jr. and William H. Gilbert; five great-grandchildren: Phillip, Jennifer, Samantha, Gregory and Jamie.

Mr. William Huff, Jr., 66, Graceville, Fla., passed Saturday morning in the Campbellton-Graceville Hospital. He was a native of Alabama but lived most of his life in Graceville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Fla.

HARVEY LEE CRAFTON JR.
Mr. Harvey Lee Crafton Jr., age 36, died Nov. 11, 2000. He was a resident of Ebro, Fla. and former resident of Fayette County, Tenn. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Peebles Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville, Tenn.

ROSETTA NIXON
Rosetta Nixon, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley. She was a lifelong resident of Chipley. She was of the Assembly of God Faith and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Chipley. She was born April 4, 1912, to the late Cliff and Cora Riley in Washington County, Fla. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at 10 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Chipley with the Rev. Dallas Pettis and the Rev. Ted Satterfield officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing. Nixon was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Nixon and her son Milford Nixon. Survivors are two sons, Gilford Nixon of Chicago, Ill., and Millard Nixon of Chipley; four daughters: Wilma Richardson of Southport, Eleanor West of Chipley, Robbie Duren of Chipley and Gwen Gainer of Panama City; two sisters, Gladys Jackson of Alford, Fla., and Esther Sapp of Cottondale; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

JAMES BROCK
James "Jay" Brock, 29, Tallahassee, Fla.; died Nov. 11, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fla., following a lifetime struggle with a serious illness. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the First Baptist Church of Graceville with the Rev. Dorman Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Marvin Chapel cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing.

SANDRA JOAN LANGFORD REEVES
Sandra Joan Langford Reeves, age 60, of Westville, Fla., died Nov. 8, 2000. Mrs. Reeves was born in Westville, Fla., on Dec. 1, 1939, to Ruth and Leroy Langford. She was a graduate of Holmes County High School, class of 1957, a graduate of Chipola Junior College and attended Florida State University. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Park Hill, Mo. Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Peel Funeral Home Chapel in Bonifay with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Church Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Langford. She is survived by her mother and step-father, W.L. and Ruth Russell Comander of Westville; daughters, Candace and husband Danny Petty of Bonne Terre, Mo., and Kimberly Blanton of Park Hills, Mo.; brother, Kenneth and wife Nancy Langford of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; grandsons, Andrew Blanton, Steven Petty; granddaughter, Caroline Ruth Ann, who is due to be born on her birthday, Dec. 1, 2000; nephew, Luke Langford; nieces, Lynn Zucker, Leslie Langford; aunt, Clara Russell; and several cousins. Pallbearers will include: Buddy Curry, Luke Langford, Kenneth Yates, Raymon Thomas, Jack Leawins, and Jim Locke. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be given to Cancer Fund or Hospice.

Hazel Brazil Sherrer, 81, of 212 East Evans Ave. in Bonifay, died Wednesday, November 8, 2000 at Campbellton-Graceville Hospital. Funeral services will be Sat., Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home in Bonifay with burial in Bonifay City Cemetery with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 11 from 2-3 p.m. Pall bearers will be Al Solomon, Lyle Young, Tim Watson, Allen Corbin, Jim Chiles, and Billy Brazil. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Hospice of Northwest Florida.

VERNELL 'CRICKET' BARFIELD
Vernell "Cricket" Barfield, 74, of Wausau, Fla., passed from this life on Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at her residence. She had resided in Wausau since 1951 coming from Panama City. She was of the Assembly of God faith. The funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Chipley, with the Rev. Troy Lee Walsingham officiating. Survivors are her husband, Wilbur Barfield of Wausau; two sons, Eddie Wayne Barfield of Wausau, Billy Barfield of Centre, Ala.; five brothers: Joe Don Smith of Florala, Ala., Larry Smith of Andalusia, Ala., Durant Smith, Delmus Smith, E.J. Smith all of Wing, Ala.; two sisters, Mavis Kelley of Baker, Fla., Nell Chambers of Florala; two grandchildren, Blake Barfield and Whitney Carpenter; and one great-grandchild, Elliott Barfield.

Linda Faye Partin, age 60, of Chipley, Florida passed from this life on Wednesday, November 1, 2000, at her residence. She was a native of Chipley and had resided back in Chipley since 1998, coming from Warner Robbins, GA. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Blue Lake Baptist Church in Chipley. She was also a member of the Chipley Tiger 100 Club. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, at the Blue Lake Baptist Church with Rev. Norman L. Bellury officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Lake Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, at the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Broward and Mavis Berry, and one sister, Nancy Kirkland. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. from Damascus Baptist Church with the Rev. Marcus Caraway and the Rev. Edwin Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville directing. Ms. Vera Mae Russell, 75, of Graceville, Fla., died Monday night, Oct. 30, 2000, in Campbellton-Graceville Hospital following an extended illness. She was a native of Houston County, Ala., but had lived in Graceville most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of New Easter Missionary Baptist Church in Graceville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. at New Easter Missionary Baptist Church in Graceville with the Rev. Price Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Graceville Community Cemetery with Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville directing. She is survived by three daughters, Annie M. Montgomery, Bessie Gainer, both of Graceville, and Mattie Benjamin of Chipley, Fla.; one son, Samuel Russel Jr. of Graceville; one sister, Beatrice Mims of Panama City; two brothers, Willie Frank White of Panama City and Benjamin White of Indiana; also nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Glenn Curtis Johnson, 63, of 832 Faith Avenue, Graceville, Florida, died Saturday, October 28, 2000, at Campbellton-Graceville Hospital. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2000, at Byrd-Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Draayom officiating and Byrd-Williams Funeral Home directing. ARDIE MAE CREWS
Mrs. Ardie Mae Crews, age 85, of Graceville, Fla., passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, 2000, in Washington County Convalescent Center of Chipley. She was the eldest daughter of the late Jessie and Carrie Wynn Cotton and the widower of the late Frank Crews. A member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church and the Ladies Aid Society of Campbellton, Fla. Survivors include the children; Johnnie Lee (Willie Ann) Crews of Chipley, Eugune (Yvonne) Crews of Philadelphia, Pa., and Annie Lou (Benjamin) Pittman of Tampa, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Nadine Crews of Philadelphia; a sister, Rena Cox of Panama City; In-laws, John Staten of Campbellton and Kate Cotton of Quincy; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Ardie Crews will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church Campbellton with the Rev. D. Myrick and the Rev. Richard Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Saint Paul Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley directing. PEARLIE DAVIS BLACK
Funeral services for Mrs. Pearlie Davis Black, 101, a native of Caryville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at St. Mary A.M.E. Church Caryville, Fla., with the Rev. Youngblood Potter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with the Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, directing. The remains will lie in state at the church from 12 Noon Saturday until time for the services at 1 p.m. Mrs. Black died Oct. 22 in Mount Dora, Fla. Survivors include three sisters and a brother, Odessa Pierce and Clem Davis both of Detroit, Mich., Manatha Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lois Myrick of Panama City; several nieces including Minnie Lee Engrams with whom she resided and many other relatives and friends.

GREGORY ALLEN HARRISON
Mr. Gregory Allen Harrison, age 47, of 1531 Harrison Lane, Bonifay, Fla., died suddenly in Geneva, Tuesday, Oct. 24. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. from the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located on Highway 79 South of Bonifay, Fla., with Bishop Edwin Carroll officiating. Interment services will follow at 11:45 a.m. in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery of Geneva, Highway 52 West, with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 until 8 p.m. He will lie-in-state at the church from 9 until 10 a.m. on Friday.

Ruby Brock Gale, 73, of 209 Wilson Ave., Panama City, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in a local hospital. She had been a resident of Bay County since 1947 moving here from Vernon, Fla. She worked in accounting for Civil Service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gale was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Allan Gale. She is survived by a daughter, Shelly Kirchoff and her husband, Richard; two grandchildren, Jennifer Merriam and her husband, David, Matt Kirchoff; and great-grandson, Jacob Merriam. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Doug Newton and Dr. Louie Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
